Fake Samsung charger - Galaxy S III Accessories

I got a Samsung micro USB charger and there is blurry text.
Anyone know if the charger is fake of it is Manufacturing defect?

I think it is a manufactoring defect.
And what do you care about the charger?
If it charges your phone it's good, isn't it?

As long as the specs are right, doesn't really matter, does it - unless you want to file a dispute for possibly getting ripped off. I bought a charger for $1.50 on eBay and it works just fine.

I think it's a fake. They all over the place in Indonesia market, selling for $3-$5. Some look like the realy ones with hologram and same packaging as Samsung ones.
The problem with fake charger is that they dont last long, I think their components are of very low quality.

Looks fake just by the LU sticker

I still wouldn't trust the charger very possible that it could over charge your phone

ummmm not likely the phone has control over its charging... ever notice how it takes a second for your phone to start charging after you plug it in. thats because the phone actually makes the effort to connect the power input to your battery as well as disconecting the charger from the battery.. also having a higher output charger wont make you phone light on fire as the charger may have the ability to supply said amount of power but the phone will only "draw" a maximum amount as most are actually designed to do these days.... meaning i can throw a phone that came with a 700 mAh/ .7 Ah charger on a 2100 mAh/ 2.1 Ah charger and actually not have it draw more then lets say 1.5 Ah because that is the maximum it was desinged to do so. also leaving your phone on the charger after its full wont hurt the battery ... unless we are talking about several days straight. after a battery is full most charging systems enter what is known as a trickle or float speed. basically just enough to suplly power to phone as if the battery werent in it. say going from 700 mAh down to 200 - 400 depending on if your phone is actually deeep sleeping or slightly to heavily active. mid you if your screen is on during that time that number may still be higher.
now im not saying that this is always the case some really cheap and poorly built pos may cause a fire (saying as both phone and chargers alike) ... cause they do. but the reasons why they go up is nearly always due to poor quality and something fails instead of i plugged a high power charger into my phone and dantes inferno then visited on my bedside table.

[Q] Can different chargers mess with your battery?

So i recently busted my default charger and started using one i bought, its not samsung brand, but lately i've been noticing that my battery dies quicker, does this seem look like normal battery life or is it possible that having a different type of charger is screwing with my battery? All i use my phone for is texting/phone calls. Thanks in advance
What are the power output on the charger? It seems that it drops really fast even during standby. The charger that came with the nexus is rated at 5v @ 1a.

Have you checked BetterBatteryStats? Looks like that phone is almost always awake, except during one period where the battery had less of a downslope. Also, it looks like even during the downslopes your phone is charging. Something doesn't seem right here, and I doubt it's your charger. It looks more like some application or other software is eating your battery for breakfast.
Yeah i also forgot to say, sometimes i'd look at my phone while in out and it would randomly say its charging. When its obviously not. The brand of the charger is called "On the go", no idea what kind of charge it delivers.

Are you on stock or have you tried flashing back to stock? If the problem continues even with a clean install of the stock software, it seems like the USB charging board might be messed up and may need replacing.

I'm Curious About This Too
I've been using the power block from my old Motorola OG Droid, with an output of 5.1V - 850mA, along with the usb cable that came with my old Palm Pre Plus (its nearly 52" long, almost 4 1/2ft!) andi have no idea what that's rated for. I seem to be doing fine as far as I can tell. It charges quickly on AC, nothing overheats.
But what are the consequences of using a power source with this kind of difference, if any? Consequences to using a power source with a greater difference?

Yes, the "a" (amperage) doesn't matter. It's just telling you how fast it can charge your phone, higher the amperage is, the faster it'll charge.
You can also determine how many watts the charger will consume by multiplying the Voltage by Amps. So if your charger was rated at 5v @ 1.5a, it will use about 7.5 watts. If it's less than 1a, like .6a, just put a decimal before the number.

Leaving phone on charger overnight?

I've read several things that say leaving your phone overnight doesn't damage it, but I wanted to make sure by asking people with the same specific phone as myself.

The only time you would have problems is using a cheaply made knockoff charger or a damaged charger, and its hard to damage an OEM charger. Even with 99 cent eBay knockoffs from China its very rare to have one cause problems, but OEM or high quality third party is probably less of a risk.

+1... im not sure if its still in the charger or on the battery on newer phones, but they contain overcharge protection circuitry. Once hte phone is fully charged, the phone stops pulling current through the charger and pumping it to the battery. If the overcharge protection wasnt there overcharging the battery would kill battery cells and shorten the life of the battery.... so, with OEM charger and a good quality battery NO WORRIES.
the only time it would be bad for your phone is if you have one of the high out put chargers that charge super fast
Sent from my SPH-L710
Well even if the charger is crazy high output like your saying it wouldn't charge the phone anyfaster because there is a file somewhere in the os that tells the phone how much power to draw. Or am I mistaken.

I agree, high quality chargers shouldn't cause any problems. If you do use one that is cheaply made, be sure to pay attention to your phone. I had one a few years back and every time I charged my phone, the screen would start to act up (very spastic, lol). It seem to still charge my phone just fine so I continued to use it, until one day I woke up and my micro sd card had been fried!! Now I stick with OEM!
Have always left my phones on their chargers overnight and I have never had a problem.

[Q] Charging Note2 with the Note1 charger

Hello
My note 2 stock charger got damaged & untill i bring a new one, can i use the note 1 charger? Or it will damage the battery some how?
I want a reasonable answer not like "yes u can"
Thanks for your cooperation
Edit : i googled for an answer but unfortunately i couldn't find any with my search keys...

I dont have a note 1 and a note 1 charger so I cant really answer.
But i advise you to compare whats written on both chargers. Volt, power all that stuff. If its the same i dont see a problem.
Maybe its not the best advice but I used to charge my LG p990 with a N97 charger and its still fine.
Theres one thing with my note 2 charger.
When I charge it theres a little noise that pisses me off its like ultrasound or something coming from the charger connected on the wall. I usually notice the noise wheb the phone is at 65%.
Charger dead ?

You can use it but it well charge slowly. So the usual 2.5 hours to charge week become 4 to 5 hours.
Both chargers are micro usb and is required for them (as a standard) to be 5 volts. So using them to charge ur GN2 is ok.
The current really doesn't matter. It only dictates how fast its gonna be charging your phone. Since the usual GN2 charger uses 2 amps, using the 1 amp GN1 charger would just make your phone charge longer. Anything above 2 amps may be harmful and untested.
I believe they made the GN2 charger 2 amps because it has to make the charging time shorter to compensate for the bigger battery.

Yup, if those numbers are true then it will take twice as long to charge a note 2 using the note 1 charger. The output voltage must be the same, otherwise bad things may happen. I remember reading somewhere the faster the charging, the quicker the battery life degrades, so the Note 1 charger may actually be better, but I have read so many contradicting articles about Li-Ion Batteries that I don't know what to believe. In any case, you can try. In theory, it's safe, and if really needs a stronger charge, it will either display a message that it needs a different charger or it simply won't charge. It won't blow up or break down, but you shouldn't leave it connected for hours either if you see it doesn't charge.

Yeah but sometimes looking at the quality of the other products a company produces can make people more comfortable buying something like this. Obviously it's not a review of the mentioned product but it's something to help those looking to take a dive on this product.

Call me crazy but given the inefficient nature of Qi I'd at least want a larger (12000 or more) battery. I've got the anker slim 4500 and it's barely enough for 1 and a half charges (granted I use it while charging), I'd be interested how long this would last while powering the Qi electronics as well as the inefficient charging of the phone.

I wouldn't just say it's pretty good for the price. It's unbelievably low. Your average Qi charger costs $35 for really cheap models while external batteries of 8000 maH cost about $40 each.
However, I did purchase this and I will post again after I try it out and give you guys a review on it, seeing that there is only one amazon review so far.
Bump!
I have received the charger, and right off the bat I want to say something that I was extremely surprised with. Along with the cheap price, apparently the free-shipping was free 2-day shipping as well. I was rather shocked when I discovered it 2 days after I ordered it.
The device is rather portable, it is roughly twice the weight of an N5 and roughly the same dimensions. With a case on my phone ( I use a Spigen Ultra Hybrid), when I put it on it almost conforms perfectly except the charger is about a half inch longer.
The material is very glossy and easy to get fingerprints on, and looks *sort of* cheap, mainly due to the chrome rim binding it. However it feels solid pretty far, except for a power button rattle.
I have not kept track of the exact numbers, but so far this thing has satisfied me pretty well. This is my first Qi charger, so I am not aware on whether or not it's supposed to slightly warm up when charging, but it does. The charge rate is pretty decent, 1% every 2 minutes it seems like. The wired charging speeds obviously depend on whether or not you're using the 1A port or the 2.1A port, but the charging speeds for those are already cataloged so it is unnecessary for me to elaborate on it.
The LEDs are pretty bright but it is very hard to see them unless you're looking directly from above it. The battery does seem like it's 8000maH (before power effiency decreases, so the battery is actually 5600maH effectively).
I give it a 8/10 as a product. A 9/10 as a product considering the price and shipping. 100% Recommended

How is the qi charging? How many times can you charge it using this on battery and how fast does it charge on qi? If you dont mind me askin.
I picked one up and like it very much! It's a tad longer than the Nexus 5 and about the same otherwise in dimensions. It's quite heavy. The charging works well and it's not picky about positioning. Only wish for improvement is that it's a smooth metallic surface all around so it's easy for the phone to slide. I might lay down some non-grip material over it to improve that.
It's a great deal since it's as cheap or cheaper as most qi chargers and as most battery packs but you get both in one.

Sorry for the bad wording previously, but it charges at a rate of about 1% per 2 minutes. I have not the time to conduct from full experiments but it seems that I was able to get about two full phone charges more or less out of it, which is pretty appropriate.
Another note, the LEDs are so weird. They're sort of like mini flash-lights. As I said, you can't really see them unless you're viewing them head on, but last night when I was charging the battery I could use the LED lights to look around my room. This was no problem though as it did not spread, and I simply flipped the battery over .
This seems like the exact same as another one that's been making the rounds, except it's advertised as 10000 mAh. Look up TX-5600 power bank. They sell a few different colors at dx.com, but I bought mine at Amazon (another brand) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FS1NTMW/. I wonder if it's just plain old deceptive advertising, or if they just use the same shell and put another battery in.
I gotta say, I'm very happy with mine though.
i just ordered one..hoping to get it friday.
Question:
If i use it mainly as a QI charger and leave it plugged in most of the time..will it degrade the battery?
i dont have a need to carry the external battery around all the time, i just needed a 2nd QI charger and since this was a 2 in 1 for $30 i bought it.
I see that theres an on/off button. IDK if that only functions as an on/off for the battery pack itself or if it also protects the battery from overcharge when it is switched off and used just as a qi charger.
thanks in advance
I ordered one of these. Looks decent and charges devices quickly using wired mode. However, Qi charging seems inefficient. After charging up the device overnight, it was drained after a single charge of my N5. Seems to only make sense to buy this if you use a wired charging when on the go and use the qi charging when you're plugged into AC. I usually use this device while plugged into AC on my nightstand so it suits my needs. If I'm in a rush to go out and have a phone or tablet that has little charge, I'll bring this device and charge on the road using a cable.
As for the online reviews, they are likely biased. The seller offers a free gift IF you post a "positive product experience". Doesn't seem like a moral practice to me. Anyways, since the product itself works as I described I completed a positive review. Getting the free gift has been like pulling teeth. The vendor/distributor is inflexible and comes up with unwritten statements that state, "our policy is..." long story here. This makes me a bit concerned if my unit needs warranty in the future. Definitely a consideration if you decide to buy one.
Thanks for the bump. Ordered for $30. What a deal.

Using the supplied charger for everyday charging?

So the stock charger that comes with the phone is a quick charger. Would using this charger every night to charge my phone kill the overall lifespan of the battery? Is it bad for the battery?
I don't think there's enough data to reliably say whether it's significantly decreasing the life, but fast charging does produce more heat which will theoretically degrade your phone quicker. I personally use a normal wall plug overnight and keep the quick charger by my desk in case I need a top-up during the day.

QC 3.0 significantly improves charging efficiency and heat reduction. Please don't confuse fast chargers with quick charge technology.

Pardon my cynicism but manufacturers get paid to sell phones. Slow degradation due to heat might have you buying a new one 20% sooner than if you slow charged. Not saying this is the case, but you have to look at the flip side of your argument too.

It would be a fine balance between that and having to deal with warranty issues from faulty chargers.

My moto x pure battery is still in good condition after using qc2.0 for a year. I'd say it's all gonna be fine.
I plan to have this phone for a long time. 3-4 years. That's why I've been a little worried about using it.
Try testing it for yourself.
I haven't used any charger except the QC 3 that came with the phone yet, but I have noticed it gets pretty warm.
Plenty apps available to monitor your battery temp. (Link in my sig )
Heat is definitely bad for batteries.
As far as charge rate it's hard to say. Fast charging a car or marine battery is significantly degrading it. Not sure about the batteries used in modern tech. I would assume they can handle fast charging well given the only charger included is a rapid charger.
Use the QC3 charger for everyday charging. It will be fine. Discharging the battery is going to hurt more.
If you want to maximize it:
discharge no lower than around 40-50% or so.
charge it higher than 90%.
Have fun using your device.
