SGH-T989 call recording - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Anyone know how to get call recording on this device that doesn't use microphone?
[ NEXUS⁴ / VANILLA ROOTBOX / APEX PRO / TAPATALK ]

What? I'm not being a smartass but it sounds like u wanna run ur automobile without turning on the engine. I don't understand wat u mean.
Edit: do u mean line recording? If so try this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=polis.app.callrecorder
Don't know if its work for s2.

None of those apps will work without messing with the Android OS to circumvent the restriction on recording calls. They have made it very hard to get around. All these lame apps end up doing is turning on your speaker and trying to record from the ambient sound, which is really really crappy

Anyone figure this out. I found a few kernel hacks on xda, but the threads are all a year or two old and the links no longer point to existing download locations. Major thanks to this forum by the way! Couldn't have rooted my phone without you, and without root it was a paper weight after hardware keys died out.

I once had a good call recording addon when I used Jedi mindtrick ROM. I don't think you need the ROM to do it because it was from the Xposed Framework app. I activated and installed the app then scrolled down the downloads list and was able to find a phone recorder. When I installed it and reset the phone, it added an option to record phone calls to the phone menu. It saved the files to the SD card and they sound legit.
You probably know more about this stuff. Hope it helps!

This one works. I've used it on my T989 and a cheap, low budget Galaxy Discover S730M. Works flawlessly on both

Conversation / Call Recorder for Developers

This is a tip for ALL good application developers in the android market: as of now, there is no good Conversation (call) Recorder application that would record calls (not from the speaker) in a clear sound and save it in different formats.
I have tried many, including the "Call Recorder - Total Recall" but wasn't happy with none of them.
If you come accross a good one, please post it.
Thanks.
I would pay $40 or so for one. It would be cheaper than paying $198.00 for a Call Mynah Cell Phone Recorder. Also less hassle as with call mynah I have to haul around another device. I would buy call mynah if I can't find anything else as it would always work with phones and upgrade phone in the future as long as we have bluetooth on future phones.
I use
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.skvalex.callrecorder
Search for the thread on xda and thank faux
Found it in his kernel thread.

Yeah, you know that website you noted states that you need a kernel patch and a rooted phone?
I needed this feature for work. Searched forever and had to root. It is very easy with superoneclick2.2. Call recorder by skvalex is perfect. Records both sides without speakerphone. Has record button when both sides connect. Dont have to record every call. Works on i.coing and outgoing. Good luck without root. Call recorder needs superuser permission.
Once u rooted callrecorder by slvalex works great. Until recently u can't record any calls made over wifi calling

Would you mind identifying the thread that can give me easy to understand step by step instructions on how to change my phone to "Rooted Stock?" Also, how do I impliment uvkid? I am new to this stuff so could you tell me what "Rooted Stock" means? Can I continue to have over the air updates from T-mobile if I do that? Could it brick my phone?

bravia engine

Could anybody tell me how to enable this feature for this phone.
Please do not give the obvious answer because I already tried with all zip files uploaded in other threats.
I know there is a manual way for activating this option but I would really appreciate if you can upload a zip file to be directly flashed in this phone.
Thanks in advance

I tried it and they seem to be working as my gallery seems a little sharper than it used to be. Granted I am also running my own version of kl1 so I don't know if its just in my head but I like it

They only work on sony phones. What people are seeing is a placebo effect. Image rendering is part of the system as well deeply embedded in the linux kernel drivers. Placing two files with in system/etc with certain permissions does nothing. The build prop edit also does nothing. It is totally bypassed.
In no way were system files patched or hacked or anyway by this. You would have to hack the image process library and patch the required system files. As well hack and patch apk files that take advantage of this.

I have flashed and noticed nothing. Also there is absolutely no improvement to video or images.
The point is this: this engine port is known to not work at all.
You say youve made it work and your proof is you can hear it. That is silly.
Like the link I posted. Proof gives this credibility and you have no proof.

I can notice the audio different between with the bravia engine and not.
I used to have a sony walkman cell phone and listen at least 1 hour everyday during driving for 2 years. When I switched to the samsung s2 phone and i noticed the S2 audio is weaker then my sony.
I flashed the beastmod 4.0, i can hear the audio is very closed to the sony phone. I noticed the audio different before I've checked the change log, so this is not my mentally thinking. It's the fact.
1 thing I need to clarify, I do hear the big different if I am using my car audio speaker. But if I use the cell phone speaker or the earphone, honestly, I don't notice much. I believe the cell speaker or the earphone can't able to handle the best part. But the bravia engine does work on the samsung S2.
For the video or picture part, I don't know about it.

The bravia engine has nothing to do with the sound. Also it really has nothing to do xcloud. There are a whole bunch of kernel patches for the qualcomm processor online that boost the the volume you hear. By 20%. The qualcomm chip has dsp manager built in. A few tweaks would get the volume louder than what it is.
The bravia engine is image rendering. Which literally does not work. Samsung devices do not even have the correct system files or services which would activate it. This has been done on various devices the only devices its known to work on is xperia arc devices. Also bravia engine has not been open source. Either so you would need to do some serious hacking as well.

The only logical method would be to edit the standard media profiles, hack the camera, and change the way compression works in the gallery. Thats why on other roms its looks diffrent. Than on beastmod. I will also add that sony line only has LED-backlit LCD, capacitive touchscreen. Ours is a super amoled + not only would you have to reverse engineer to get the kernel drivers that make the bravia engine works sinces it is not open source. You would have to port them as well to make it work with super amoled drivers.

call recording, need some quick help! (legal problems) Promptness appreciated!

hey guys, sorry if these seems rushed...
Going through some legal issues at the moment and I need to know what I can do to get call recording up and going asap?
Does our phone support it? (yes by far to my knowledge)
if so does it need to be on speakerphone or is it incoming outgoing recording?
also is there a specific rom I should look at for the best functionality of call recording?
I had just been debating swapping to CM10 (not sure if it supports it or not)
But I may not be able to do that...
I get no service at my house, I need to use wifi calling or else go outside where i get reception.
Does call recording work over wifi?
Gah so many questions
Thanks Guys & Gals!!!!
I think for call recording apps like skvalexs Call Recorder need to be supported by the kernel. I don't know if stock kernel will support it but if you find his thread here on xda you can download the current release as a trial to see if it works.
There are a few roms which have call recording built in. No real options for it but its there and it works. They'll all be ics based I'm pretty sure. FreeGS3, XquiziT, wanam Lite, I think all have this built in.
I'm not sure how well it'd work on wifi calling, but I don't see any reason it would be any different.

Incall can record and store as a mp3 so easy to play on other devices as evidence. Do pre testing as with anything before your actual conversations, Incall only worked on speaker phone for me and I dont know about wifi calling. You might need to use different recording apps for different situations.
CallRecorder (10$) from skvalex + AlsaMixer + aosp + ktkernel work 100% perfect.
If you change rom, you need to fresh install CallRecorder + AlsaMixer every time. If you restore from Titanium Backup it will not work.

Yes, I prefer it that way myself so I can switch callers easily.
Manual record a call record is still available if you press the capacitive menu key while on a call.
Edit:

MK 5
Can this work with MK5? I purchased Anker 7200 battery and was experiencing a big impact on my signal strength. Was about to return the battery when I read about MK5 modem and decided to give it a shot and it has really made a big change. When I first got the battery I was down to 1/2 to 1 bar in my house. Now with MK5 I'm getting 3, 4 bars and even 5 bars in some spots. :victory:
Thanks.

Yes, I sent it back already and Amazon sent me the refund pretty quickly, shipping too. I'm already on MK5 modem because I'm also on Boost but the loss of signal was pretty bad for me. If I was in a low signal area, I could see the antenna connect and reconnect over and over. Plus the problem happened the entire time I had the battery installed. Once I reinstalled the stock battery, everything went back to normal. It's a shame but you know how each of these phones are a little different from each other.

Bummer.
When the call is recording, do you have to have the speakerphone on in order to record the other party? I use Automatic Call Recorder from the play store and you must have the speakerphone on in order for it to record the other person's voice. So I think it is only recording the mic input.

[ROM] CM12-Light BETA

A port from a S3's CM12 ROM for the [SGH-T399] Samsung Galaxy Light .
DISCLAIMER READ EVERYTHING BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS. This ROM was built for the T399, even though it was built on a rom that presumably worked on both models. People with Metro encounter FCs and Reboots when using High Accuracy GPS.
Android Version:5.0.2
With @Unjustified Dev's CM12 Build (https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95784891001602113) as a base (Thanks for your service!)
Also the Light in the name isn't because of it's size (yet(?))
Bugs:
- stock Cam still iffy, 3-rd party cam apps work. From personal use, Focal (by CM) works great, Cam Mx is good too.
- Prox/light sensor for telephony (off display when phone to ear) is iffy as well. From my use Gravity Screen has trouble using the light sensor when the flip cover option is not selected (6/10), when it is toggled the use is 8/10. Interestingly, when calling the screen turns off when close to ear flawlessly, sometimes it might not turn back on tho.
- Report if I left some out
--Streaming apps (Netflix, YT, Play Movies) has been reported to be not working. Some report that it's dependent on the .apk version. On the latest ver. of YT it works with no problems on various resolutions.
Oh and also.
I am not responsible to any damage to your device, PLEASE do a Backup of the device on TWRP.
Oh and as of right now I do not have the device in my possession. I GOT IT GUYZ
I'd like to thank you for supporting and testing this and helping to build support for this great device. :highfive:
Want a stock ROM as backup or for daily use? Here's my build Don't it's unstable.
I am holding off development until I get the device, sorry.
Read everything? Good, here's a link as your reward
ROM: V0.1 https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=35178
(Vanila) V.02 https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347772131 - CM stuff removed (for now), proximity sensor seems to be better
(Dirty) V0.2.2 https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347773480 - build.prop battery tweaks, added cam permissions in the boot.img, let's see if that makes a difference.
(Dirty) V.0.2.3 https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347774276 - libs migrations en mas (from stock, let's see where this rides takes us, HAVE A BACKUP READY PLZZZ)
MISC: GPS High Accuracy workaround for Metro (T399N) Read instructions here - THANK YOU @kireflow90 !
Also can I again thank @Unjustified Dev for building a solid CM build? He really did all the hard work.

Also I will be uploading two versions of the ROM soon, one with build.prop (and soon, among others) tweaks and one that I will keep as vanilla as possible.
I will also try my best to keep this method of release. It could take a day or two tho :/ so please be patient.
Downloading CM12-light+0.2 will give you update when I flash
Edit: only improvement I've found is the proximity sensor. It seems to be a huge improvement. Idk if I just got lucky but it didn't turn the screen on at all

When you upload, since you'll be putting both up, you should put vanilla in the name OR just code them with a V in the name. Like CM12-light+0.2V

Oh I also added an AOSP Camera app there, did it replace the older AOSP one? Are there 2 instances of the app? How does it work for you?

I only have one camera app (as far as stock goes) and its the same one as before. Still takes a picture but doesn't save it or anything.
