Okay, so earlier today I rooted my evo and flashed the CM6 ROM. A little later I tried to install Google apps.
I followed a tutorial on youtube on how to install gapps using rom manager.
Now my Evo is stuck in the Clockworkmod recovery screen and when I click reboot system now it reboots and goes back to the clockworkmod screen. I tried wiping data/factory reset and then re-installing the CM6 ROM, it did not work.
I really need some help here, I'm not too experienced and I don't want to brick my Evo. How do i fix this?? I am freaking out. Thank you!
I use AmonRA recovery personally and flash everything through recovery. I had too many problems when I tried flashing things through Rom Manager app. Do you have a nandroid backup? If so install the backup and then boot into recovery and reinstall CM6 and gapps back to back in the same recovery session. If no backup, download PC36IMG that corresponds with your hboot version and put it on the root of your sd card. Boot into bootloader by holding volume down and power at the same time. It will scan the sd card for PC36IMG and then verify it. It will then ask you if you want to update. Select yes and let it do its thing and then when it asks if you want to reboot select yes. This will put you back to stock and may unroot, so you may have to do the root procedure again. Then install CM6 and gapps in same recovery session.
Before all this try wiping cache and davlick cache and reboot. If that doesn't work try powering off phone through clockwork and then boot into bootloader. It will scan for PC36IMG and not find it then you will have options to boot into different things. Select recovery, and it will boot into Clockwork. Wipe cache and davlick cache and reboot. See if this works. If not you will have to nandroid or go back to stock probably unless someone that has had this problem and comes along to help you fix it. Always wipe cache and davlick when installing something new like gapps or kernels and full wipe when installing a new Rom, unless you are updating a Rom then just Davlick and Cache.
As long as the phone turns on it is not bricked.

Where can I download the pc36img? Also, it seems that when I try to wipe dalvik cache, it doesn't do anything.

If you are having issues getting the img on your SD card, if you have a card reader handy just use that to transfer it over

I did find the correct one for my hboot version, but another question I have is do I need to flash unrevoked-forever-son.zip since I rooted using unrevoked 3.32? Or do I just put the PC36IMG on the sd card and flash it? Thanks.
Okay, I seem to have gotten it back to stock. Thank god, thought I lost my evo for a minute! Thanks to those who helped me out, its 4:45 in the morning and now I can finally go to bed! ;]
LOL glad ya got it back.. Yeah thats where I was heading before I seen your post..Its 5:46 am and Im not sure how many Evo people are actually on at this time so...anyway nite
I stayed on to help as long as I could, but had to go to work. Sorry I couldn't be here to help with more questions. Funny I was just getting up for work and you guys were just going to bed.
Glad you got it fixed for now. Remember to flash CM6 from recovery and not Rom Manager. Also, flash Gapps from recovery and not Rom Manager app. Flash CM then gapps and reboot. Make sure you do a full wipe first though. You could also look for Calkulin's tools thread in Dev section of EVO forum and find his wipe all zip. You just flash it like any other zip but it formats data, cache, boot and system partitions so that when you flash a new ROM nothing is left over from old one. Good luck my friend and happy flashing.
PS. I don't think the stock rom would give you s-on since you already had s-off, so you should be good to go. I could be wrong, but as long as you still have a custom recovery and s-off you should be good to flash any Rom.
evo camera
ok i have a root evo but my camara dosent work ... can some body help me to fx that problem
What rom are you using? Do they list camera issues or camera not working in the initial post with the rom?
Camera
Lets talk about the camera not working here:

So, I was running CM9 with D2SD but wanted to remove it because I was getting some problems so I tried to restore my backup with the normal CM9. It didn't restore properly. I then thought that anyways the internal member is very low on CM9 then I should try out MTDPartition. I forgot to edit the txt file which is using while flashing CM7 . It installed but didn't pass the boot screen. I tried flashing again but no use. So I downloaded CWM again and flashed it. Then tried installing CM7. Didn't install! So I flashed CWM again and tried with MTD. It installed.
Everything was working normally. I wanted to flash a theme so I rebooted into recovery and flashed that theme (Which I was using since over a month). It just didn't start my phone then.
Now everytime I reboot, my phone starts the boot screen and then suddenly gets stuck and restarts again. This happens again and again. I tried flashing CM7 and CM9 again but same thing happens always
Please HELP!
Have you tried installing CWM recovery again?
I would recommend, install CWM again, then run superwipe, then MAKE SURE YOU REBOOT INTO RECOVERY (NOT REBOOT SYSTEM), then flash your rom again.
(thanks to blueridge wfs team for the sharing superwipe script).
Before flashing your rom, did you perform the following steps?
1. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
2. Wipe Cache
3. Wipe Dalvik
If not, try to do that first, then flash your rom.
What I did:
Flashed new rom (it loaded up no problem)
Rebooted into recovery
Did a Darkside cache wipe
Installed Gapps
Phone wouldnt boot...
Booted into recovery... attempted to Darskide Superwipe (to clear everything and try installing again)
Phone hangs on the wipe and doesnt finish... have to pull battery
Tried just doing a system wipe from the CWM menu..... phone hangs and doesnt finish....
Panicked... Tried restoring a nandroid I had....... restore seems to be working until it gets to "Restoring Cache..." Then it hangs and nothing happens.... sitting at this screen afraid to do a battery pull.....
Please HELP... what the hell did I do
****************UPDATE: Seem to have fixed the issue... Grabbed a flashable zip of CWM.... reinstalled CWM... Rebooted recovery... Am now able to flash superwipe and roms etc. Thank god. Seems to be working fine now
What recovery are you using? If you're using CWM 6xxx, you don't, and shouldn't, need to use the Darkside wipes! You only need to use that if you are on CWM 5.xxx, using it on a higher version causes issues, mainly with people who don't know proper manual wipe procedures.
Solution, change your recovery, do all your wipes, flash rom and reboot.
Edit, are you trying to use Cyanogen Mod?
Hey guys,
I was installing the synergy rom r484 onto my galaxy s3 att variant and in the aroma installer it says that my device is d2spr but my device is actually d2att and I think that is why when I install the synergy rom it doesn't let me use my data and 4g. Can anyone help with this?
update your recovery with a d2att one. are you cwm or twrp?
I'm using cwm. Can you please guide me how to update the recovery to the d2att one? haha sorry I'm kind of a noob
let's see if this gets you straightened out. flash this in recovery, go to advanced and select reboot recovery. once back in, give synergy a shot again. do you know what version you're on now and where you got your current cwm from? just curious

When I tried to flash that file it started and then said "Installation aborted"
I've attached a picture
Oh and I'm not sure what version I'm running
can you boot into your device? if so, use Rom Manager to update your recovery.
if not, here is the previous version of CWM if you want to see if this takes care of you.
also, twrp is recommended for aroma installers. i'll attach a recovery flashable twrp zip. let me know if either flashes. if not, you may have to restore a backup (if you cant boot in now) and update your recovery that way.

I flashed the twrp.zip and then I tried installing synergy again and it finished and started rebooting and now it's in a continuous loop of rebooting
get it fixed?
if not, wipe cache and dalvik in recovery and reboot. if you're still looping, boot into recovery and wipe data/factory reset and reboot. report back, buddy

I've tried rebooting into recovery multiple times but it goes to the Team Win recovery screen and then goes back into the boot loop :crying:
odin back to stock, buddy. thats what i would do.
here's a link to the stock firmware with root already injected: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1739426
flash the tar in odin. make sure the auto reboot box is unticked. if you get a PASS after flashing, unplug the device, pull the battery, replace it and press the recovery button combo. once in recovery, wipe data and wipe cache. reboot.
you will be on rooted stock. you can install cwm or twrp from rom manager or goo manager from there.
otherwise, your other option is to flash recovery from odin via this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2042775
download the root kit and flash the recovery.tar from odin. boot into recovery and flash that cwm 6.0.3.1 update i linked you to earlier. reboot recovery (under advanced) and proceed with flashing synergy or flash this recovery-flashable stock rom to get you started. you can decide where you want to go from there.

If I odin back to stock will it delete all my music and pictures and etc.?
Okay I'll try the second thing and I'll report back in a bit. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me.
Okay so I got that recovery that you gave me earlier installed (the cwm 6.0.1.3) after using odin and the att gs3 root and then flashing after that. Then when I went back into recovery and tried to install the synergy rom it started and then the aroma installer froze and my phone went back into the loop. I can get into recovery now though but I don't know how I should install synergy
Honestly? This is a picky rom. I would abandon it for a more stable install and operational rom, whether that be a touchwiz base or aosp. It doesn't seem to be working with you at all.
Okay I installed the cyanogen mod stable build and now I'm just waiting for it to finish booting up. Thank you so much for all your help!!!
That's what we're all here for. Lemme know if that did/didn't boot up for ya :good:
Okay it's still at the same booting screen where it says CyanogenMod and the blue circle is spinning around it.
Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik. Reflash rom and gapps. Wipe data and cache again. Reboot and give it a few minutes.
That's my suggestion.

My Galaxy at&t phone had the same problem after flashing with Synergy (my first flash on my new Galaxy S3 phone). It lost its identity and though it was a Sprint phone. Next I tried installing a different custom ROM, but I couldn't install CM10.1 (and still can't now) because it thinks it was not a d2att.
There were only two ROMs I was able to do installed since then. They were the Serenity 1.2 and its predecessor. I had to restored phone back to stock, root, and flash ROM. For a while, it was pretty grim as my phone had gotten very unresponsive and lethargic with all the fixes I tried during the time my phone thought it was a d2sp (no data).
After going back to stock using Odin, the phone finally could accessed the data network again and showing SGH-I747 instead of the Sprint version. I tried flashing CM10.1, but it still didn't think it is a d2att since it aborted when it did the check for d2att.
Nest, I flashed the DrewGaren's JellyBean747 version 1. Then I flashed DrewGaren's Serenity 1.2. Both were mostly working OK, but there are still some bugs.
Unfortunately, the DrewGaren's series seem to be dead projects since he didn't seem to be doing anymore improvement since Jan 2013.
Samsung S3 had me routed. My previous phone was HTC Inspired, and I rooted it instead of it routing me
So I wanted to go to Lollipop and I happened to flash the twrp recovery for new layout(as i was getting boot loop when flashing the rom with cwm recovery)
The things i tried until now.
1. Installed twrp and formatted it to get the new layout. Wiped everything, system, cache, data, dalvik cache
2. It was supporting MTP so i transferred the roms to the device being in recovery. Installed CM 12 + gapps for lollipop.
3. Rebooted to bootloader again. flashed boot.img, and did fastboot erase cache.
4. Rebooted again and stuck at CM boot logo.
I wiped the cache, dalvik cache(actually did a factory reset in the twrp recovery) and tried installing Resurrection Remix. Again flashed the relevant boot.img too. But the same result..
Did i destroy my phone?

Yes I can enter recovery. But again I just cant get any lollipop ROM's working. I dont know whether i have to restore to kitkat(i really dont want too..
I dont get it.. Wipe dalvik cache, cache, data and then disable mtp and then enable mtp.. I mean at the end what does this do?
And in the meanwhile did you mean HTC Sync Manager for device manager. FYI I use a mac(if this helps to get into the problem). And i had flashed kitkat roms from the same without a hiccup but lollipop is failing

its hard to explain with recovery you can mount ur sdcard and put another room and install ,the easy way its to start from the begin and install clear CM12 and you will get out from bootloop that help me i was in bootloop like 3920489208420984920 times hahaha

Have you solve the bootloop issue? I am having the same problem on my International One X
thanks
Probably both of you encountered the same problem as me.
If you are S-on, you have to flash rom and kernel separately. Also, if you try to revert any changes with twrp you have to flash kernel you were using during creation of backup, and then restore backup.
In other words: your current kernel is incompatible with rom.
Mwys
Yes i am S-ON. Can you tell me what the steps are to flash the kernel? I do not have a backup.
What is did was flash New Layout TWRP, did a complete wipe, then copied the ROM and G-Apps zips to the phone, installed them and then flashed boot.img.
Thanks for the help
Yup I also tried the same. but no luck. I tried to revert back to kitkat(by installing cwm, format the storage, sideloaded the ROM and gapps, flashed the boot.img) and still again in bootloop.
Sorry for the delay. I was a lot too busy with work.
