Disable wake on headphone insertion - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Ok this has been killing me for the past few days. It seems my headphone doesnt fitbquite nice enough and a little wiggle causes it to wake my phone up. Is it possible to disable the phone from waking up when I plug in my headphones???
This is frustrating because im constantly fighting my phone to stay off!

I didn't know this was that big of a problem.
I always thought it was useful so you can efficiently open your music right when you put in your headphones.
Try turning off the Context Buddy in the display settings and see if that does anything.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium

Context buddy is already off. It's weird, see, the phone never gets interrupted music wise, but for whatever reason the phone detects it being unplugged and plugged back in (without disrupting audio)
I do have headset blocker but that doesn't effect it, so I'm hoping that someone knows any files I can edit to disable this function

Ok so this is cool, after taking a look at my phone, and messing with the headphone jack. My freakin headphone jack is ****ed up. Something is wrong and the pins aren't properly clicking onto the damn jack. What the hell. I never abused the headphone jack and just like that it's broken. This is BS
I guess I thought it was doing this for a while but that's only because I haven't listened to any music for a few days. I just had my headphones on today at work to muffle the factory noise and kept hearing my phone lock and unlock, but now it's for sure.
My phone has a damaged headphone jack! this is messed up. One of the reasons for wanting a samsung in the first place was hoping they had a better headphone jack setup than HTC does/did (which were physically cracking the headphone jack) and now it looks like my phone is messed up too.
This is ridiculous...
I'm going to see if maybe lint or some crud is stuck inside there...here's hoping that's all it is...
nope, it's the headphone jack. This is bs, I'm going to see if sprint will replace it under mechanical failure or something. The phone's only 3 months old and has been in a case its entire life, never dropped/abused or anything.

I've had this phone since the day it came out and never had a problem with the screen turning itself on while my headphones were in, which is saying a lot seeing as I use my headphones every single day on my 1 hour bus ride to work.
And also never had a problem with the headphone jack...
Take the phone to Sprint and tell them the headphone jack is messed up and they will surely give you a new one.
Just you know, be all "frustrated" and what not in the store lol.

Yeah, that's what I'm planning on doing. It's messed up that a 3 month old phone wears out its headphone jack, where my 10 year old cd player still works perfectly fine.
there's no physical damage, it's just that the pins inside have worn out.
Do you think they'll care that my phone is rooted hah. I mean, this is 100% unrelated to being rooted ya know?
I tend to use my headphones 8 hours a day, 6 days a week on my phone. So i guess it was bound to happen. I just hope it never happens again.

If anything before you go just do the "triangle away".
The application can be found in the app store, it resets your counter.
Like I said, I've had my phone about 5 months now and use my headphones every single day and haven't had a problem with them.

If you are worried about them finding root (they will probably look for before giving new device) go into superuser and unroot through there if you want.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium

Dont need triangle away since my counter never ticked with thebroot method I used. Im not worried though since sprint works on rooted phones as long as root wasnt the cause. In this case the headphone jack wore out from daily use

I have a temporary fix. It seems that the headphone detection pin has worn out severely, so I looked around and found out soundabout (which i was already using to disable the speaker) has an option to force sound to the headphone without using headset detection. Works perfect.

3.5mm Headphone Jack

Anyone notice that the Headphone input is super awkward? Most of my headphones won't even fit into it properly.

My headphones don't like to stay in especially with the silicon case on. It drives me nuts when I have my car stereo hooked into jack and it gets bumped a little and all I hear is a pop and loud static. Had a similar problem with my Incredible 1.

Noticed that also. It's a flat jack on a rounded edge... Seems odd to me.

I'm hoping that one of those 3.5mm input extenders might do the trick.

That's a good idea. It didn't seem to be an issue without a case but with its definitely annoying.

I stil have the issue even when taking off the case.
I guess im one of the very few with no issues at all.
I actually bought a set of those "beats by dre" headphone sets and it fits perfectly. Also works just fine with my subwoofer at work

Bought this and it's been working great. http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10218&cs_id=1021802&p_id=5577&seq=1&format=2
Fit's snuggly in the jack, even with my Otterbox case on.
I also have iBeats by Dr Dre and it fits quite well into my DInc 2.
My brother and I have similar problems with the audio jack. My headphones will fit in but if the cable wiggles I loose connection. The audio stops and I have to unplug and replug the them back in. It makes it so I can't have the phone in my pocket when listening to headphones. I have called Verizon and they said they were not aware of any known issues like this. They sent me a new phone to see if that resolved the problem. I am hoping we got some out of a bad batch...
This issue combined with the lack of root makes me want to sell the phone and get a X2.
No issues with mine either, I have been using it in the gym for the past two weeks and plug into the tape deck adapter in the work truck with no problems
So I called Verizon the other day to explain my problem with the headphones disconnecting after the cord wiggles a little. Their answer was to send me a replacement phone. I agreed and the next day the replacement arrived at my doorstep. Tested the headphone jack on the replacement device and got the same results. After calling Verizon back I waited on hold for an hour while they attempted to duplicate the problem on their end. Their solution was to use headphones without a "L" shapped bend in the connector. They offered to buy me a new pair of headphones so I agreed. I placed my order Amazon today and the Verizon tier 2 level tech will be calling me back Monday to take the charge off my bill. Figured this information may be handy to someone. Good luck!
I understand this is not a fix for a design flaw in the phone but its still a free pair of headphones.
I had the same problem with the lead in my car. I realized the jack was longer than the one on my headphones so I filed the tip off of it w/ a metal file. It seems to work better now.

no issues here either. ue10's
I tested with a set of Blackberry "L" shaped headphones+mic and they were fine. I wiggled them and spun them and they never lost connection.

Strange...I used mine on a plane last week with my headphones and had no issue at all. I would be interested to know if this degrades over time somehow because I intend to use the headphones often!

[Q] Why isn't my phone storing my preferences. ALSO CAR HOME FOREVER.

Two point five questions here I guess but I've tried everything and I don't know what else to do. Rooted phone, got it back in july not long after the launch. For the last week or two, maybe more, I was using MIUI with tiamat 0.7. Most recent version of both. For a while Car Home kept popping up always and being super freaking annoying. Eventually I had to freeze it with Titanium backup.
Another very bothering thing is that the audio output for media is incredibly loud. Like if I plug in some five dollar headphones and keep media on lowest, I can hear it about ten feet from the buds. Not even cupping to bounce sound, just sitting on a surface. I don't know what caused this but it may have been fault, I'm not sure if doing what I did, did this; I had a pair of broken headphones so I whittled and scraped them down just to the plain bare jack and use it as a soundkiller while I'm at work. I've done this before with no problem but this time I scraped down so some metal is exposed while the jack is in and I'm sure I touched it when I removed it. I did this for a few days and suspected it might be the issue causing the sound so I stopped.
I also wiped very thoroughly the phone and SD card and went to the latest nightly of CM7. Same issues, including car home so I'm not sure what the hell is wrong with that damn app. Also now my phone is ALWAYS rotating anything even when I tell it not to and keeps making itself silent as far as ringing and notes go. What can I do?
Tl;DR: Car home always popping up, Media sound is incredibly loud, CM7 is ALWAYS rotating.
I realized this was due to a loose connector in the headphone or usb port and the phone always thinks it is in a car docked or does whenever this is loose. I found an app called NoDock in the market, it requires root but it works on the OS level disabling the feature all the time when I want to meaning I can still use it. There is a trial that claims to work for 7 days however I've been using it for the day after I posted this until now. Another person posted in the market a bad review because his trial lasted only 30 minutes so it is a formula or something. Normally it is 3 USD so it isn't too bad.
The choices I had were using this with this app or getting a replacement through sprint officially as a damaged hardware. The replacement would be a brand new model that couldn't be rooted as of yet so I figured I'll deal with this. The evo is over a year old now and I can't be sure people will keep trying to do new things to root it so I'll keep my beloved.
I'm posting this so in case someone has the same issue and searches 3 years from now and sees this they will know what i did.
Car home is caused by pins getting crossed within the USB jack. Check for a few things:
1. Does it happen only when the phone is plugged in?
2. Is there any debris or the like inside of the USB jack that is crossing the pins?
3. Does the same thing happen when you plug another USB cable into it?
Mine did the same thing and it turned out to that my charger was screwed up and making the phone think that it was docked. So I bought a samsung charger off of Ebay for like $3 and it's worked flawlessly ever since. If there is junk inside of the phone's jack get a toothpick, or something similar, to clean it out and see if that helps. If the jack is clean and the phone still launches car home while NOT plugged in then your USB jack may be screwed up.

S3 3.5mm jack

I noticed today that my headphones / car stereo etc is only playing out of the left speaker unless I jiggle it. At first I assumed it was a wire going so I tried 5 different aux cables and 2 different headphones, it's all the same deal.. have to look for that sweet spot to make it play in both speakers.
I bought this launch day and I am pretty shocked the 3.5mm is going already, I've already tried cleaning it with dust off (air can) and it's still the same. What does sprint generally do to fix this? I have insurance, but I really hate getting a refurbished phone back... had bad luck with them in the past! Let me know if you guys know anything else I can try to repair it myself or if its a lost cause and just let sprint replace it.
thanks!

Honestly...I would just let sprint fix it. I don't think they would send you a totally new phone, but instead ask you to take it to a repair center. I have had that problem before but with a few cheap aux cables I had. I always tried a fresh new one and it worked fine...maybe all of your cables are going bad haha you never know!

yup its just from plugging it in and out too much over the past month, they replaced the jack free of charge in 20 minutes, works great again thanks
When I got my GS3, the same thing happened to me. I was about to unroot and call Sprint for a new phone... The I saw a thread with someone else with the same problem.
Turned out that what was wrong was that I just hadn't pushed the jack in far enough. Sounds to ridiculous to be true... But try it. Push your headphone plug in nice and firm until you hear a resounding "click".
I felt dumb, but saved me the grief of returning.

yeah I thought that at first, it wasnt that. a pin inside the jack somehow became loose enough to not make contact with the plug. the guy showed me after he fixed it.

[Q] headphone jack issue

My headphone jack has started to act strange a few days ago. I can only hear out of one side and the otherside sounds kind of low. I thought it was my headphones so I bought a new pair but even the brand new pair does the same thing in my phone. I noticed if I push back on the base of the plug that goes into the jack and apply some pressure, it restores full sound to both ears. Has anyone had this issue? I figure it's hardware related and I need to take it into a Sprint store to be repaired/replaced. Any ideas?

[Q] Headphone jack got broken in my phone!

I was listening to music, then I was planning to go on my laptop. I unplugged the headphones and the tip broke and it's stuck inside of the phone. I tried using super glue, and doing other stuff, but I couldn't. I was thinking that can I use my speakers if the piece is still in there. Can I disable something to make the phone think that the earphones are not connected?
I had that happen to my iPod! Best thing is i took a tac and kept picking at it till it came out, unless i think you could take your phone apart otherwise I don't know any software fixes for that

Actually, its real easy and cheap 2 change the headphone jack, it comes with the speaker, on ebay the part is around 12-15$
