hello so I am kinda new to this forum but i have read that alot of people that are having issues trying to fix their phone after boot loader unlock and rooted phone i notice that alot of the custom roms that are available are for the virgin mobile version of htc one v. unless i over looked it i couldn't find any custom roms for the cricket version of the htc one v and there for i found that because of compatibility issues the phone goes through a boot loop after custom kernel/rom flash via fastboot
so below i have put together my own guide in my own words w/ downloads included on how to fix the boot loop issue with the CRICKET HTC ONE V version of the phone since i really couldn't fine clear and concise instructions and regerdgeitated information that wasn't applicable to the phone although information was useful to read.so i wanna give back to this community and help other who have this similar problem
purpose of guide:
to help those who have htc one v cricket phone
step one
download the CRICKET RUU
start up FASTBOOT enter these commands to lock boot loader
example:
change directory of where you downloaded the fast boot program files via command prompt on a windows machine
CD C:\name-of-fastboot-folder
FASTBOOT OEM LOCK - hit enter
step two
put ur CRICKET htc one in boot loader mode then load the cricket RUU program
follow the on screen instructions to begin restoring your phone to a complete factory state
NOTE: before locking the boot loader go into which ever custom recovery you flashed and do a complete system wipe back up if possible or applicable
this process should take at least 20 min to complete so sit back and grab a coffee or somethin ;D
once finished your phone should be completely restored and back to factory out of the box working conditions - at least these steps worked for me i figured it out by myself.
NOTE:
now if you wanna redo the unlock boot loader again search google or here on the forums to do it
back up your phones and stock roms incase-- as always
root your phone by following the "how to guides" on here
thanks to all who tried to help me with my issue everything is appreciated
DOWNLOADS:
download the CRICKET RUU here
let me know if you guys are having issues downloading the RUU thanks

Everyone just made a trade today for iphone 4s 64gb for a tegra 3 htc one x. I bricked my phone trying to unroot it wanting some old software back. Stuck on bootloader screen. I don't have access to any files or anything. Please leave download links and very detailed steps. I'm a real dummy. I got it relocked so far and basically want to get it back up and running. Looks like a european version not 100% on that.
Which rom were you on before unrooting? Were you trying to flash an ruu ? What did you do to unroot and at which point did you get stuck ?

I first downloaded the unroot files did the relock by doing the recovery through cmd. I just followed a youtube video and the point it was suppose to restart it gave me that red alert sign and got stuck so I factory reset and it keeps going back to bootloader.

You relock by typing this into your terminal : fastboot oem lock
No additional files needed its just a command
Then download the stock recovery for one x which you can find in a lot of places and this forum as well, put it in your fastboot folder, to make it simpler rename it to something like hoxstockrec.img .. now put your phone in fastboot and in terminal type fastboot flash recovery hoxstockrec.img
I don't know about that unrooting file you were talking about but it probably does its job. Also, are you on stock ROM?

hi im in the exact same situation can you help please?did you figure it out?done what the other guy in this post said and still didnt work
You can install the original 1.29 RUU for European HOX. You need to boot the phone while typing vol down+power button, press fastboot and run the downloaded RUU. You need at least 30% of battery. (Relocked bootloader needed)

hi ive been having some problems trying to root my htc one x phone on telus (in canada). unlocking the bootloader worked but when i tryed to do fastboot flash recovery in command prompt it would say error. ive tried other methods to get the recovery to work and to get superSU on my phone so that i have the root but none seem to work. can anyone help me find out what im doing wrong and how to fix it? also when i tried to do the recovery the first time it sent me to a black screen with a green loading wheel over a phone not moving, then a few seconds later it send me to another black screen with a phone and a red caution sign, i dont know what this means but i knows its not helping. any progress will do thanks
Umm isn't the Telus the dual-core version? This is the forum for the International One X. Despite your device being known as the One X, it's the One XL here.
You can find a guide for your phone here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1814914
PS. do not install any ROMs from this section, you will brick or even possibly hard brick your phone.
I have noticed a few people having problems on doing the OTA update on australian htc one x's. As optus just released their OTA JB Update it was easier for me to use this method to get the update on a rooted or non stock rom.
First you will need a few tools.
Download the HTC One X all in one Toolkit -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604439
Make sure you have the latest HTC drivers (Intall HTC sync and then uninstall) -> www.HTC.com
Download phones RUU file for your carrier. -> http://htcruu.com/?dir=Endeavor
Get Boot Unlock Code from HTC Dev (ONE X AIO TOOLBOX WILL HELP WITH THIS) -> www.htcdev.com
All the above tools can be found in the XDA Forums in the android developer section.
1. First step is to get the right RUU file for your phone.
2. Best to make a nandroid backup from recovery
3. Use the ONE X tool to Relock your bootloader. (make sure battery is about 40% for next steps)
4. Put phone in fastboot using vol - and power when turning device on.
5. Run the RUU, it might fail the first time but then will allow you to install the stock recovery and then rerun the RUU and will update to stock fine.
6. Boot phone and upgrade to 4.0 ICS
7. Reboot Phone
8. Check updates and update software for the JB updater tool
9. Reboot phone
9. Check updates and install JB update and reboot phone.
10. Use htc one x toolkit to unlock boot loader again if you need root access and you are done.
I tested this on optus001 cid but should work on all internation tegra's. I know their are a few methods but this one worked for me so thought i would contribute it. Sorry i couldn't post in the developer forums as i haven't posted before. If someone wants to rewrite this info to be more readable then that is fine, hope it helps. Also if you brick you phone contact me about unbrick services.
Absolute unneccessary thread. All that info is posted here about a million times.
Hi,
New to here but have found so resourceful information throught the forum.
I've tried root my Htc one M8s iternational model I'm from ireland but have run into problems along the way.
As its a M8s it doesnt have the fastboot off setting in the battery options. Ive been using the Hasoon2000 all i n one kit to try root the device. So far I've successfully unlocked the bootloader through the steps on htc derv. I've gone on to install the twrp custom recovery through the tool kit which it says was a a success. Ive put the supersu zip in the phone also. When i put the phone into the Bootloader screen and try to load the custom recovery all the phone does is reboot to a black screen with a red light in the speaker flashing. If i try to do a factory reset i also get the same result.
i'm sort of stuck at this point because im new the process of rooting and could do with a little help if anyone has any ideas to why the phone is doing this.
You can NOT flash stuff that's meant for the M8 !

Hi all.
My htc one m8s is not doing a factory reset and also doesn't boot into the recovery.
I was on able to unlock the bootloader. All others steps to a instalation off recovery or a new HTC exe file gives me an error.
I still access the OS.
Don't know what to do.
Many thanks
I don't have the M8s, but just the "regular" M8. So can only give you general help. But what I can offer up:
- You aren't specific as to what types of errors your get trying to install recovery. Or the exact command you used. So it is hard to troubleshoot (may just be use error). Also I assume you are trying to install TWRP custom recovery. If so, make sure it is the one specific to the M8s (TWRP for M8 will not work).
- RUU will only work if your bootloader is locked (will fail with bootloader unlocked, by definition). Also, it has to be the exact RUU for your CID and version number, so I would suggest giving more specific info about your device, before going through the trouble of locking the bootloader again, just to find the RUU still will not work.
Do fastboot getvar all, and post the results (delete IMEI and serial number before posting). Also give the file name and version number of the RUU you are trying.

You must use htc_fastboot instead of the normal version. You can find it here
To flash a RUU / HTC exe you need to relock the bootloader first.
You also need to use the "htc_fastboot.exe" to flash TWRP.

Hi.
I have tried all sort of things and so far the only thing I have managed to do was flashing a TWRP from HTC One M7 that works up to a point where is showing me some red writing on the HTC Logo when I chose the "recovery" option on the bootloader but then goes back to bootloader page, it never gets into TWRP.
I never noticed a small vertical bar on top right of the bootloader when I try to flash a recovery on the mobile.
I definitely know I have a HTC One M8s but why I only get some reaction when I flash a TWRP from HTC One M7.
All this steps are done with WINDROID toolkit

That is good way to permanently brick your phone :good:! TWRP recoveries are built for each specific model and not without reason!

Stop using those toolkits, and get the htc_fastboot specifically made for HTC, download from here.

Only use TWRP specifically made for the M8s (M8QL_UL), download them from here
Place them in one folder, open CMD and CD to the location. Connect the phone via USB, boot into bootloader > fastboot and execute:
Code:
htc_fastboot flash recovery twrp-x-x-x-x.img
After that just boot into your now working M8s recovery.
Stop using other phones' recoveries / tools or you will brick your phone.
