[Q] Bricked HTC ONE X While Unrooting! I'm Noob! - HTC One X

Everyone just made a trade today for iphone 4s 64gb for a tegra 3 htc one x. I bricked my phone trying to unroot it wanting some old software back. Stuck on bootloader screen. I don't have access to any files or anything. Please leave download links and very detailed steps. I'm a real dummy. I got it relocked so far and basically want to get it back up and running. Looks like a european version not 100% on that.

Which rom were you on before unrooting? Were you trying to flash an ruu ? What did you do to unroot and at which point did you get stuck ?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

I first downloaded the unroot files did the relock by doing the recovery through cmd. I just followed a youtube video and the point it was suppose to restart it gave me that red alert sign and got stuck so I factory reset and it keeps going back to bootloader.

You relock by typing this into your terminal : fastboot oem lock
No additional files needed its just a command
Then download the stock recovery for one x which you can find in a lot of places and this forum as well, put it in your fastboot folder, to make it simpler rename it to something like hoxstockrec.img .. now put your phone in fastboot and in terminal type fastboot flash recovery hoxstockrec.img
I don't know about that unrooting file you were talking about but it probably does its job. Also, are you on stock ROM?

hi im in the exact same situation can you help please?did you figure it out?done what the other guy in this post said and still didnt work

You can install the original 1.29 RUU for European HOX. You need to boot the phone while typing vol down+power button, press fastboot and run the downloaded RUU. You need at least 30% of battery. (Relocked bootloader needed)

[HELP] Bricked HTC one X - tried everything.

Hi there XDA,
I have searched and tried many different ways to help me,
but none have worked or are lacking in information for me to follow methods.
so i have turned to your general help!
i do not have any knowledge on how my phones bootloader was unlocked or any fastboot things at all, if you could explain to me step by step methods of using the fastboot option via connecting it to my computer to get it to work including files i need that would help.
well okay these are my problems.
~ I tried flashing a jdroid rom, with aroma installer.
it installed the rom but after i installed it it was looping the 'HTC' logo at startup.
what happens is i turn it on, it says "htc quietly brilliant" hangs for a few seconds, screen goes black then phone vibrates and it repeats.
i have a CWM flashed but whenever i boot into recovery it the cwm flashes on the screen for one tenth of a second and then it reboots and i get a loop of booting screen.
If anyone could please help that would be greatly appreciated! i have only had this phone for one week! and it is vital i get it fixed as i have alot of information in the SD card vital to my business
First, download the RUU for your phone (you should have it already as you got it before unlocking the bootloader, right?). If you didn't, then this is the first rookie mistake you've made
Second, relock the bootloader. This involves using fastboot which, again, you should how to use before doing anything that can potentially lead to issues. If you don't know how to use fastboot then check the threads in the Dev forum or Google it
Third, make sure the phone is connected in fastboot and run the RUU
This will get you back to stock and then you can start again (once you've read up on everything properly)
I tryed to install RUU yesterday with relocked bootloader to solve sense issue but did not get it work.
Tryed with 1.25, 1,28 and 1,29 but got error 120 and 170 (no USB connection and low battery even battery was 95%).
Any idea why?
Then I removed CID line in OTA and installed it by fastboot and sense issue was gone
Good news is you're not bricked, do you have adb installed on your pc?

Ok first thing to do is download the android sdk and install it. Once done report back.
If you get a java not installed messege on install the sdk it will give you a link to the jdk download the 32bit version.

If your friend unlocked and rooted your phone, he must have had the necessary tools on his pc.
Before trying other things, get your friend to run fastboot erase cache (or if you have the necessary tools run it yourself with your device booted in fastboot of course (volume down and power pressed))

hmm i have done some extra researching and had more help but my phone is in fastboot and is connected via cable to pc but the CMD always comes up with "waiting for device"
Have u got HTC sync installed
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Once you have htc sync installed or just thethe drivers boot into hboot. Click on fastboot plug in device. It should show fastboot-usb.
If you bootloader shows unlocked open cmd and cd to the platform-tools folder in the sdk and type: fastboot oem lock.
This will relock the bootloader and reboot the phone. Boot back to fastboot the run the ruu for your cid and all will be back to normal.

htc one x iscompletely messed up. Please Help!!!

Hello i have the tc one x and i have alot of problems. when i first bought the phone i rooted it and i was happy. i downloaded root apps and i was set. then i wanted to start flashing roms. so i downloaded a custom rom on my computer, followed all the instructions carefully and it did not work. i had installed clockworkmod and the whole 9 yards. When i would try to boot into recovery mode i would get a security warning and i was not allowed to. i tried many tutorials to install it on to my phone using my computer and command prompt and things like that but that did not work. So i came to the conclusion that i did not unlock my bootloader. so i went through the whole process on htcdev.com and my key was invalid. i had gotten the error 160 and mid not allowed. now i wanted to completely restore and unroot so i deleted superuser and the su files and did the whole thing with fastboot files and command prompt using a video to help me through it. When i was done my phone still said tampred on the bootloader and i got the same security warning error when i tried to restore the phone. so i cannot restore my phone to stock. now my phone cannot recieve att updates and when i try to manually update it is says htcdm has stopped and then after the button does nothing. and many apps stop unexspectedly and i am very upset about this. i have tried unrooting and unlocking bootloader at least 10 times now and nothing works!! PLEASE HELP!!! i really dont want do have to sell my phone and save up for a new one. thank you.

Yup.
First, your not clear with what you actually did.
IS your Phone the AT&T version? If YES, then this is the wrong forum.
Also all you need to do to get a custom ROM running is this.. (in the respective order ) -
1- Unlock using HTC. Your error is probably because you did not clearly read on how to copy the UID part. even one extra character here or there can generate an invalid key.
Follow the instructions to the letter.
2- Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery using fastboot.
3- Before flashing the ROM, from CWM, make a backup of the stock ROM, by going to Backup and Restore - Backup.
4- Wipe Date/Factory reset option in the recovery. Then Goto Mounts section and format /system.
5- Now flash your ROM from the sdcard.
6- PROFIT?
If you are not confident enough to follow each and every instruction to the letter, then flashing custom ROM's is not for you.
From your post i can clearly see that you find the whole process a little too cumbersome. I can be wrong. But please at least be clear what you exactly did. Which ROM did you try to flash? And how did you go back to stock? Which RUU did you use? Was it the correct one?
If your HBOOT says ***LOCKED*** or ***RELOCKED*** then run an RUU and it will remove all warnings, and put your phone back to it's factory state.
how do you run an ruu

Boot into bootloader then go into fastboot and run the ruu that's all but sure thing before doing this u have to flash the stock recovery and kernel and lock bootloader
Y U WANNA KNOW FROM WHERE SENT??
Just download one and run it, dead easy.
But he has to return the recovery and kernel and lock bootloader first
Y U WANNA KNOW FROM WHERE SENT??
His post is so disjointed it's impossible to figure out the state of his bootloader (hence mentioning it), but you don't need to replace kernel and recovery, that's the point of the RUU.

OK that means you're good to go with the RUU if you want to return to stock and have everything working again.
Dude becareful if its saying security warning then your battery is very low, becareful because if the phone drains completely while using ruu the phone would get hard bricked also u can't select ruu you just have to go into fastboot

Ok. Stop.
Where did you get your phone? Is it quad or dual core? What is the model number written on the case?
Before you do more damage, let's figure out what device you have, which forum you need to ask questions in, and what procedures you need to follow.

Right, well, I'm not sure what you've done to it, but this is the wrong sub forum.
If it is an AT&T phone, htcdev won't work.
Best bet is to visit the ONE XL forum. And post what you problems you have, and then what you tried to do before arriving where you are now.
Word of advice, your first post in this thread was awful. It's too long, too confusing and unreadable. Try to cut out as much as you can. I don't care how many yards, that you got instructions from a video, and that the video was hosted on YouTube. Just list what you did to the phone. Use spaces (including vertical spaces), punctuation and bullet points to good effect. End of the day, you want as wide an audience as possible.
Good luck.

Did OTA brocked my htc one x?

here's the situation
i have recently bought refurbished htc one x
i wanted to update it with offical jelly bean update it showed me
th update downloaded and i proceed to install it, i was a long time on the installing icon so i left my phone, when i got back it wouldnt turn on like the batery was empty
before doing the update it showed around 50% so i wasnt thinking about it, but it seems i died during the update
now - i cannot turn my phone on, its stuck on htc logo, i can access bootloader mode, it says i have hboot 1,12
radio 5.1204.162,29
the bootloader is locked
could someone tell me in simple steps how to bring it alive? is it even possible?
I havent flashed my one x in a while, but try charge it as much as you can while in recovery or bootloader mode.
Then try unlocking the bootloader using htcdev and Hasoons all in one toolkit from the dev section.
That will help you get a custom recovery installed and allow you to reinstall another firmware.
Not sure how much you already know so I apologise if this is basic info haha.
Also dont forget to flash the boot.img if you go with a custom rom
Good luck

Return it for repair if you can. Unlocking bootloader is the hard way out if you ask me.

A ruu might be a way out, but it's a long shot because the ruu doesn't need a unlocked bootloader.

Try this first.
I completely forgot about RUUs. You need to get the one that matches your CID

Sending it for repair isnt really an option as i bought the device and now im leaving the uk.
so they would send it back to me as ill be in another country.
also i opened it as i had the anthena problem but i solved it.
software speaking, as that is the problem, is it harf to fix?
i had couple of androids and customized all of them, but im new to htc and all that ruu,cids...
i dont mind custom rom, right now i just want to recover any functionality.
So if the ruu is the easiest way out is there a newbie tutorial? as i cant find it
and is unlocking the bootloader, flashing a custom recovery ans rom is so complicated to other devices?
i dont.know.what do you nean by flashing boot.img while flashing rom
When you run an ruu the computer end of it walks you through what to do. Make sure you have latest version of htc sync installed and do exactly what it says. Also returning it is the best option under normal circumstances. I did exactly that when ota wrecked my shift

HTC One X Stuck In Bootloader DRIVING ME INSANE

So I tried flashing an RUU on my One X. Its driving me nuts. Its stuck in bootloader, and won't go out of it. Even if I press power down it'll come back on into boot loader by itself.
I've tried every single guide I can find and everything fails or just won't work.
It was bought rooted with ARHD on it which is why I wanted to try the RUU. It has no recovery and won't let me flash one either.
Please help. I can't take it back as it was bought second hand without warranty.
Did you relock bootloader and run as admin?
Also the ruu has to match 'fastboot getvar version-main'

Do NOT make multiple threads with the same question. Its against xda rules and very annoying !

[Q] Stuck at HTC logo...

Tried to go from S-ON to S-OFF but it failed while updating phone with firmware.zip. Cmd said it was done but phone showed no activity. Rebooted phone and its stuck at HTC logo. Found a way to boot to bootloader but instead of going straight to recovery to restore what I had, I first re unlocked bootloader. Now im stuck at HTC logo with no way to get to bootloader (volume down key not working). Im not a complete noob, just new to this phone. Have tried to use adb to boot into bootloader and recovery but it is not being found by my pc. Is there any way of forcing phone into bootloader? I would appreciate any help given
EDIT : FIXED
