[Q] Stock recovery firmware version. - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, sorry if his question has been asked before.
I purchased a grey import note 2, I then flashed it with Omega custom rom and I didn't back up the original rom.
Is it possible to check the origin country of this note 2 so that I can look up for the correct stock firmware to flash back to stock rom??
I need to send it for warranty claim, therefore I need to restore to original, but not sure which stock rom should I flash.
Thanks in advanced.

You can flash any stock ROM preferebly from your contry and flash using odin from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696
If you want to flash original firmware which was came packed
open Kies - Tools - firmware upgrade and initialization
it will ask for your serial number (you can find in setting - about device) and flash according serial number. which will be latest for your device.

Wrong section.
Since note 2 doesn't have an international warranty, you will have to send it to the country you imported it from. So flash the firmware of that country.

One more thing to clear
you already have custom ROM, so before sending to warranty make sure your flash counter is reset to 'No'
Just flashing stock ROM won't work
Read post#3 of thread mentioned in my previous post for any details.

Hi dr.ketan,
I've done resetting flash counter to 'No'.
After using Kies 'firmware upgrade and initialization', providing the model and serial number, it has downloaded the firmware and restored it back to stock rom.
So does this mean that the firmware Kies flashes is the official stock rom that my phone should be running?
Thanks.

Yes, bcoz it flashes firmware according to serial number so it means it should use its record.
And what is information now on dialling *#1234#

Here is the information:
AP: N7100XXALJ3
CP:N7100XXALJ2
CSC:N7100OJVALJ2
I haven't update to 4.1.2, currently at 4.1.1.
Thanks!

Your device is from one of these countries
Iran/Afghanistan/nigeria/egypt/saudi arabia/Iraq/morocco/pakistan/UAE/South Africa
Now try to connect your device to Kies, it should show current firmware on kies.
here is sample image
you can see same waycurrent firmware version XXXXXX/XXXX (XXX)
code you will see in bracket will be your country code.

Is it possible to restore my note 2 to the stock OS after i rooted it?

Hello, i rooted my note 2 last week, and I'm modifying a lot like removing the apps that samsung put in my note 2. But i want to know if i can restore it back to the original state. is there an easy way to do that?
By flashing the stock rom again or I suppose factory resetting.

flashing the stock rom seems hard.. factory reset seems to be easier.. So if i go to Settings > backup and reset > factory data reset my phone will be back to the original state?
factory reset niether unroot, nor inject application which was preinstalled and you have removed.
You have to re flash ROM. If you have ROM file with you, its just matter of 6 minute.

[Q] N7100 from China - can not change firmware

I bought N7100 in China, but it does not support all google services, even I have problem to log into samsung account, can not instal another language than Chinese, Korean and English.
Originally it was in 4.1.1.
I downloaded several stock firmwares 4.1.2 from sammobile, but it does want to go with odin. (phone goes in the mode informing about unsucessfull update).
Fortunatelly I flashed it with chinese 4.1.2 firmware, but now I am again at the beginning, and what is more it shows still 4.1.1 version in settings>about.
Anyone can help what to do to change software version for my language?
(I have read a lot what I found in google, I tried several times with odin and different files for different european regions - and nothing)
The Chinese phones have a locked bootloader so I have heard. Unless you unlock it, no amount of Odin flashing will work.
Beamed from Jupiter on my Galaxy Note II
any idea how to solve this?
I saw some post about verizon note2 unblocking but I do not know if possible to follow with chinese version, and what is more it looks quite complicated..
SOLUTION:
check here
The problem with these chinese phones is the modified bootloader, so you can't install other firmwares then chinese with odin.
The solution is: flash the phone with a chinese firmware or CWM recovery
When the phone is restored you need first to root the phone via odin and then install mobile odin. With mobile odin you can install a new firmware. The thing is, mobile odin doesn't touch the bootloader so it does also work with your chinese phones.

MobileOdin - check here - but in my case, only PRO version was workable.
Hi. I have posted a complete step by step instructions as how to flash India Android 4.3 firmware on Chinese N7100. Just search for it and follow the steps. You will be successful.

I succesfully rooted and installed customed firmware last year when I got my n7100 from China. I used Odin but do not remember how I did it. Then I can flash any rom. However, when I try to upgrade to 4.3 custom rom recently, almost all 4.3 romance require flashing a Wi-Fi fix by Odin. I can install most roms smoothly. But Wi-Fi won't work. And when I flash the Wi-Fi fix by Odin, always fail, no matter whose Wi-Fi fix package and which version of Odin. Not sure if this is boot loader issue, just remember I saw error message about boot loader. And usually when I flash rom, I can see "cannot find boot loader, skipped". Now I cannot use any 4.3 romance as I cannot make Wi-Fi work.

I flashed custom roms for many times, don't see any counter on download mode, not in the T-211 model.
if you're meaning is to reset odin status to official, just flash unrooted stock firmware matching your country using odin 3.09, and remember do not check auto reboot and nand reset all.
Code:
samfirmware.com
remember, flash only stock firmware matching your country or region, samsung warranty guys are pretty thorough checking our devices.

[q] canĀ“t update my gs3 sgh-i747 from 4.1.2 to 4.3

Hi i have been trying to update my att SG3(rooted) 4.1.2 for a while now, when i try to update to 4.3 it says it does not have any update available but i know that this phone can go up to 4.4.2 kitkat,i have tried to do it with odin but unfortunaley i couldnt find the original firmaware in sam-mobiles ,plz help,it does not necesserly have to go to 4.3 if you guys also now a way to go directly to 4.4.2 it will be great.and i have also tried before rooting my phone, still didnt work.P.S:sorry for my bad english.
If you have the 4.1.2 bootloader on your phone, the simplest way would be to flash back to stock ATT 4.1.1 with Odin and use OTA update to get to 4.4.2.
Using Odin will wipe all of your data off your phone.
You can also odin flash MJB firmware available in the General section. Then you'd only need one ota to get to 4.4.2.

Yes. When folks here say to flash/update bootloader, they are taking about the full firmware. (Kinda confused me at first too)
You can download it at http://sammobile.com/firmwares

There are various pieces of software that need to be installed in order to all of the various functions to work. The main components are:
the bootloader http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...bootloader-on-android-phones-complete-guide/;
the modem/baseband http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseband_processor; and
the operating system or ROM itself.
ATT never released a full firmware (ROM, bootloader, baseband) for 4.1.2 but they did for 4.1.1.
Since your phone is on 4.1.2, you would download the firmware from the previous post, download Odin, install the USB drivers, and flash the firmware.
ok,thank you both DocHoliday77 and audit13
Just a quick FYI, it's more than just the bootloader/modem. The firmware includes the following partitions:
aboot - bootloader
NON-HLOS.BIN - modem/baseband
RPM - resource and power management
sbl2/sbl3 - secondary bootloaders
TZ - Trust Zone
System - rom
Boot - kernel
Cache
Recovery
The first group MUST all match. If they don't it can hard brick.
(This is why I've always wondered why people on the AT&T forums always say to just update bootloader and modem. I'm used to referring to it as the base firmware if not including the system/rom components, or full firmware if including the system.)
Sorry, a little OT. Not anything to be overly concerned about, just me being overly technical is all.
@op
If you follow audit13's instructions you'll be fine.

Now that you're on 4.1.1, use the free method to sim unlock your phone before running OTA updates.
When you are in download mode, do you see the word "Custom" anywhere? Did you run triangle away before flashing back to 4.1.1?

Can't install 4.1.1 o 4.1.2 on my Note via Odin

I moved to another country to find out that my Note 2 is carrier locked.
I googled how to unlock it and found that option of accessing ServiceMode with *#197328649# but since my Note was already OTAd to 4.4.2, this wasn't working.
I decided to try and flash 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 to it with Odin but every single time I tried, Odin gave me a Fail, stating that Nand write start - fail.
I flashed a CM11 on it to see if it can do anything (with CWM) but something went wrong and I couldn't get pass the "Galaxy Note II" screen, so I flashed 4.4.2 with Odin and it worked.
So I can flash 4.4.2. but not 4.1.1 or 4.1.2.
I'd hugely appreciate any help! Thank you

You can't flash firmware via odin which has older bootloader than yours must have the same version bootloader or newer. Samsung rules, sorry. Look if you find any custom 4.1.1 rom to flash via cwm and unlock it but be careful because 4.1.1 has sds bug and is possible to brick your device. Another way is to try to flash it via mobile odin which don't flash bootloader flashes all the rest but is dangerous for sds too. Maybe you can find at Internet any cheap unlock code also.

Bootloader sorry but is not possible to downgrade, about 4.1.1 rom I haven't any link, take a look at old posts at forum if you find any. You can also try mobile odin the free version from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899 you need to have root access to your phone and to download the correct addon (kernel for mobile odin) from the end of the page. You can flash with it the original 4.1.1 firmware which you have already. It flashes only the firmware without bootloader. If you haven't use it before read carefully the instructions and use it. It is absolutely safe, the only which is not safe is the firmware you trying to flash because of sds (sudden death symptom).
