As described at the title.
The Phone ran out of battery and when I plugged back the charger and turned it on... it stays in the AOKP *swagger activated* logo running there forever without booting.
Please help, I hope I don't have to wipe anything because I don't have a late backup
Turn the phone off by pulling out battery. Plug in charger, and leave it for an hour or so. You should be good.
Yeah, can you get into Recovery? If so, just try wiping cache & dalvik. Also make sure to charge your battery at least an hour as stated.
My phone gets goofy when it completely drains.
I tried and still the same
I'll try to backup from recovery menu, then wipe and reinstall?

If you took the time to create a nandroid you could just restore. If not, and wiping cache doesn't help, try a dirty install of your current ROM. Last resort is full wipe and reinstall.
A 100% battery discharge won't kill phone OS. Turn off the phone, kill your instinct to check it, keep it on charger for a couple hours, until it says battery full. And only then turn it back on.
What if the battery didn't died actually and it just shut down and now it's having problems to run back normally?
Because I'm pretty sure I saw the battery low but not over kill low, then the phone shut down and didn't wanted to power back on.
Anyways I'm leaving it charging... now.
Ok in worse case scenario, can I do a back up from recovery and then wipe it all and reinstall AOKP and run the backup recovery and get back to exactly how it was before? right?!
Don't worry too much. Normally batteries don't deep discharge. For some reason, looks like yours did. I let mine shut down by itself once in a while. Its perfectly alright... At the most you might need a new battery.
But like you said, if its a system problem, and you are able to get into recovery, copy another ROM zip on your external SD, boot into recovery n flash it.
Did you apply any CPU settings like UV or OC?

Nope, the phone havent had any other software, just the rooting process and AOKP and the recovery files.
Ok so It's safe to back up and restore after wiping everything from it right?
Well it sucks that I had no other choice but to start all over because nothing else wanted to work...

Sorry it had to come down to that.
don't look at is as a pain but a fresh start with the device. Explore some new roms. Have fun
Sorry to hear that. Before you wipe, try to install the same ROM again without wiping anything (as a dirty install) and see if that helps.

Well its alright.
What exactly went wrong then?
Many thanks though

Is the issue resolved yet? Might be a kernel crash or some rogue app.

I had to start from scratch.
I't ok not much of a loss... but I did loose important notes I had on the notepad diary.
The only other problem im having is that my contacts tends to go away, like if it's bugged.
I import them with GO CONTACTS and then today for example I go to my contacts and it's all blank.
What it's happening with this phone?

Search the q & a forum for a missing contacts/contacts disappeared thread. It was up a week or so ago. Not sure if it was resolved but it's worth finding and reading over. I only use Gmail to backup/restore contacts
I have seen at times that if the system runs the battery dead that it will corrupt Some files making the phone get stuck in a boot loop with a need to reflash.
As for your contacts try using a different backup program. Like super backup.
Try opening the XML file (exported contacts file) in excel. You should be able to view so your contacts there and make sure its all in place.

Stuck on Downloading... screen but won't connect to my PC anymore. (COM not showing up).
It froze when I was trying to install EE03 modem from EG22.
What do I do? Pull battery and boot into clockwork?
Thanks!
You probably have to reboot your computer. If you can disconnect the phone, pull battery, put it back and still get into download mode, you are fine. Just reboot, open Odin and try it again. I have better success with a full battery but that may just be me.

lol OK sorry for the new thread, but I got it back. Was really paranoid that battery pull during download mode would only make things worse. Panic set in.
I pulled battery, got back into download mode, and just to be safe, wiped and reflashed rom and kernel.
That's the first time anything has gone wrong for me. Panic attack lol I'm a nerd

Heck, half the time my phone won't make it through the Odin process unless I hold it gently in my hand and keep telling it "shhh...it'll be alright, it won't hurt"
I have never had any problems using odin and i'm guessing thats because i dont use the gay usb's samsung provides with the epics.. lol
usb's are real cheap. I recommend everyone to get a new one..
My epic randomly went into boot loop on sunday. I odin'ed it monday and it was working better then before i woke up today and it was boot looping again i just tried odin 3 times now and it boot loops... is my epic bricked?
No, bricked means no lights, no power, no nothing. You are sponged. Try a different cable and a different tar.

any idea why this would keep happening out of the blue? Also i am using another my other cable that i always use. used it to root and odin multiple times.
What are you Odining and are you restoring data? My guess is your data is bad. Downlod your apps fresh from the market. Don't restore any data.

IDK
Not restoring anything i also removed the sd card. I tried to odin ec05 stock and eb13 stock. right after it says successful and closes threads i unplug my phone. Then put my batter back in and it say samsung after about 45 seconds it turn's black and samsung comes back up and loops. Also when i charge it shows the battery icon and the spinning circle in it freezes and the screen will not turn off. Seem like its just done for. I took extremely good care of it too very frustrating. If you have any other idea's I would appreciate them.
Edit: also each time it did this i couldn't get into CWM. Thats why i used odin. Just thought i should mention it.

Have you tried using the "official" Samsung EB13 app? I've used it as a last resort for a clean flash.

Good call it seems to be working.. i guess i will see for how long. Really strange it was totally bricked for a few mins no power or lights.. then i unplugged it and plugged it back in and boom started actually charging like normal (the the circle started spinning in the middle of that battery icon) so i turned it on and I was shocked to see the sprint boot screen. I bet its a temp fix till it full breaks but at least i dont have to use this damn blackberry.
Very strange
thanks
The Samsung update tool repartitions your device. It may have been a bad partition table. My next suggestion was to use the PIT file and check repartition in Odin but I see you are up and running...great!

You should fully charge your battery and clear battery stats in CWM.
allright, i will charge it up then root it again.

No, just go into CWM and hit Clear Battery Stats.

I couldn't without rooting it and installing CWM. So i got it charged, rooted the installed CWM then did what u said. Anyway I hope this doesn't screw up again. thanks for the help guys.
OH, so when you Odin'd you did not root after...Ah, I see. There is also an app to clear the stats and calibrate the battery but I believe it requires root as well.
Hi guys, my friend has an unrooted, stock gingerbread G2 that every so often will turn itself off and revert itself a couple of days. Like a nandroid restore almost. Say he takes some pictures and downloads some apps. A few days later it will crash and turn itself back on, but the apps and pictures he downloaded will be gone and it will be as if he never downloaded them. I'm not sure how else to describe it.. any ideas? He says he thinks it has to do with putting music on it because whenever he puts on new music it will crash and revert shortly after to before the music was put on the phone.

I cannot imagine how that would be possible without some sort of backup/restore software that would need root. Sure your mate isn't winding you up?
that sounds strange...
maybe he should do a real factory reset or wipe cache?
EDIT: push power & volume down to enter bootloader / here choose recovery and red triangle will show up then press power & volume up to enter recovery (just for the case that you donĀ“t know, because you seem to have a nexus)
That sounds like a serious problem, either he's pulling your leg or something is wrong with the phone. I'd definitely say backup whatever he needs, and then give wiping the phone a chance because losing pictures and data like that isn't cool.
I've heard that some ROMs writeback and requires a complete shutdown or restart cycle to commit various information and the new stock gb might be doing that.
Try having your friend do a restart (proper one, not battery pulling) after the installation of apps and all that to see if the problem persists. If it does, then I would suggest a factory wipe and start from scratch since something is really screwing with your friend's phone

Hi guys, thanks for the responses!
I don't think he's pulling my leg because he's not the kind of person to do something like that, nor does he really know enough about phones to just think of something like this on the spot..
I will have him try to do a proper reset as mputtr suggests before doing a full wipe, but in any event thanks again for the ideas
Everything in the ROM works as advertised, except the battery level will not update until a reboot. Third party apps and the system read the same. Flashed the correct boot image, gapps, ROM etc. Charged up to full (Overnight, reboot, read 100%), then went into recovery and wiped battery stats, nothing happened. About to try draining to 0%, recharge to 100%, and wipe stats.
Kind of doubtful as to whether this will work, but if anyone has had similar experiences on other ROMs or this ROM in particular, any advice would be greatly appreciated
bump and update...
Tried above method, didn't work (Almost bricked phone when I rebooted on low battery LOL)
Flashed jmz's updated cm10 app correctly, everything worked as advertised, but battery still wouldn't update.
Starting to think something's wrong with my phone, going to see if Best Buy will take it back.

Really not sure. you are the only person to report that. flash my stock rom and see if it works.
Alright will do. Thanks for the reply. How do I do a COMPLETE wipe of everything that I can possibly wipe asides from sdcard data (photos, vids)? I think there's something that's being left behind from each ROM i flash, because I restored back to stock, and I couldn't activate phone, restored to your cm9, chrome/browser sporadically and randomly close.
Feels like each time I flash/restore to a different ROM, something new goes wrong.

Choose factory reset in recovery. That's all that is ever needed. Some people swear by using every option to individually wipe each item. Its unnecessary. Puts extra wear on the nand.

I do that, but the problem persists. About to try your stock ROM, will update.
Edit: Tried the ROM, similar issues (worse, if anything). Am now suspicious of phone defect. Is there an established way of unrooting/demodding in general the one V? Thanks for all the help so far.
My battery is goofy too running CM9 Primoc.
The first night it charges just fine.. .shows 100%.
The next night it will only charge to 92-93% or so.
The next night it will only charge to 85% or so.
It's like each night I recharge it I lose 7-8% off my final charge.
I'm pretty sure the charge is there it's just displaying the wrong percentage for some reason because if I simply reboot the phone and do nothing else the charge percentage jumps back up. If I reboot it after charging all night then it shows 100%.
Hi everyone,
My S3 would all of a sudden just turn off and I wouldn't be able to turn it back on. I've tried taking the battery out and putting it back in. The phone would turn on by itself, but once it flashes the S3 logo, it would go black and the power button would become unresponsive. Sometimes it would keep vibrating. The only way I was able to keep it on long enough to re-flash/do a hard reset was if I took the battery out and left it overnight. But when I managed to re-flash/hard reset, the problem would come up again after a few hours. I was wondering what might be the cause of this. The first time it happened I was just streaming music, the second time it was just charging. I just got it back from warranty because of a loose power button and this problem was never there before. I was wondering what might be the cause of the problem and how I can go about remedying it. Thanks!
Sounds like the battery is failing. To be sure though, you said you can get it up and running for a few hours, right? That should be enough, but first make a nandroid backup. Then recharge, then do a full wipe and odin flash the stock firmware. (Only do this if you are certain it won't die during the flash.)
Are you on a stock rom now? If so and you're not sure enough to use odin, factory reset, including internal sd, and see if it continues.
If it does go to a Tmobile store and see if they'll let you test with a known good battery.

I did a full wipe and odin flashed it with stock firmware after the first time it happened. I thought I was in the clear, but it happened again couple hours later. I've tried it with my spare battery but it does the same thing, it would turn on by itself, flash the S3 logo, then the screen would go black.
I'd take it to T-Mobile, let them see it happen do their thing, and ask them to note it on your account if they tell you to call support.
