So I've been playing around with CM9 Rom and I had no issues with it except with the poor call quality on the recipient side of the call was poor (sounded like low bit rate) or (underwater as some say)
At first I had used the following which gave me the poor call quality:
cm-9-20120620-NIGHTLY-hercules
gapps-ics-20120429-signed
TELUS_SGH-T989D_LE4_ICS_Radio_MOD
to resolve the issue i was having I did the following updates....
cm-9-20120620-NIGHTLY-hercules
gapps-ics-20120429-signed
Blaze_4G_LB7_ICS_Radio_MOD
so basically just got the newest nightly build and changed the radio to Blaze and so far its been working great on both sides of calling...
hope this works for others as it did for me
No. The rom itself fixed the audio issue, not radio

well when i was using the newest nightly rom with telus radio i still had the problem...
changed the radio and it works much better.... sorry i forgot to mention that....

Did you download nightly from the dropbox link Mike posted or from the cm site. The one from cm site did not have the fix implemented yet.

I got it from the CM site. was unaware of the dropbox link..
I will be testing this radio out further and see how long it lasts... If I have and issues with call quality I will then try Telus_SGH-T989D_Kj3_radio.

please stop using gb radios and radios that coem from the blaze. use the TLLE4 or the UVLE1 radios.
I have used those aswell and still had an issue with quality...
I have only been using ICS radios...Is the Telus_SGH-T989D_Kj3_radio a GB radio??
I was only interested in it as I have not tried it yet..
The blaze ICS radio seems to work

use either the TLLE4 or UVLE1 radios with the build mikeman77 has posted. users have mirrored it so others can get it since users have downloaded so much off his drop box they suspended it.

thanks mr.x I will be trying this out ASAP
how is this build that mikeman77 posted any different?
can you send me the original link so I can do some reading on it?

I'm on Telus in Calgary and have never been able to see over 4 or 5 Mbps download on the Speedtest.net app using the Blaze radio. With Telus radios, I see over 20 Mbps.

Basically mikeman77 disabled BLN to reduce its battery drain and he fixed audio issues in the June 20th build. BLN is the backlight notification you can get on the buttons.
I'm using the uvle1 radio, and my call quality is perfect! However, I did have the underwater issues when I first flashed the team chopsticks alpha rom. So, all I really did afterwards was flash the nighty build dated on 6/17 directly over the cm9 rom, wiped cache/dalvik, NO data, and now everything works! Still running the same build.

I haven't flashed it yet, but know others have without issue. Did you check the MD5 hash? Could be a bad download. Did you wipe cache with cwr or use the cache wipe script?

It's sort of a known issue for most if you use CWR to wipe cache, you can get stuck on boot screen. It borks the cache partition. Here is the link to TDJ's cache wipe script. Make sure you only use the cache wipe script after flashing the ROM. The super wipe script is used before you flash the ROM. The cache wipe script download is right below the super wipe. Just place on your sd card and flash. that should fix your issue if the MD5 matches.....Good luck and let us know.

I thought you said in your post you had a T989D. I'm not sure the script will even work on your device.
I just went and looked at your post and you do have T989D listed in the post and then the i9100 in your signature. That leaves me a little confused.
So I started to dabble into flashing roms with my new HTC One V PrimoC and now im trying to figure out if im doing anything wrong. I tried the latest nightly build for CM10 PrimoC, wiped all the good stuff in CWM, flashed rom, fastboot flash boot boot.img(from rom zip), and I get these annoying pop-ups saying my Android keyboard AOSP stops responding over and over, I even cleared the data on it and it still pop-ups and bothers me. Is this an issue with the rom itself?
Next one, Did the exact steps as I did for the CM10 PrimoC but this time i went with AOKP JB PrimoC I grabbed the latest nightly and all I get is a black boot screen... wtf is going on lol? I keep feeling like im doing something wrong but im following the instructions given on each page.. either the instructions suck, the nightlies have issues, problem with the kernel?, or i'm definitely doing something wrong lol. Anyone?

They are all based off the Linux kernel. You just need to make sure you're flashing the correct version intended for your ROM. The later ROMS are running off Linux 3.4.x. However, Keep in mind that the latest kernels will NOT work on ROMs that were released before 4/19. Be sure to only flash the updated kernels released on that date or later or your phone will not boot . So in your case you must update to one of the latest CM nightlies (AFTER 4/19) if you wanna flash any of these later 3rd party kernels.
For future reference you can check the linux version of any ROM in Settings > About Phone> Kernel version. Also do some more reading next time bud. This whole kernel deal has been discussed countless times in numerous threads.

OK, I'm also having troubles with tethering. While I have very few posts here, I'm not exactly inexperienced. I've been putting custom ROMs on since I had my G1.
I'm running a recently nightly of CM10.1 (4/20 so a 3.4 kernel) and obviously (as discussed above) it can't natively do wifi tethering. Found this thread and a couple others stating a needed a different kernel (that's a first for me, hadn't ventured into changing kernels).
Searched around and initially went with BMS, however I had the same problem - no wifi tethering.
Based on the advice here, downloaded and installed Ktoonsez's K747 kernel. Same thing.
In all cases, I've tried with WPA2 and unsecured. In all cases, devices can see the AP and can connect but no data is transferred. There has got to be something simple I am missing here. I really miss tethering (use it for internet on my Transformer Prime when I'm on the road).

Something is clearly wrong here. I just did a completely clean flash (factory reset/wipe) of the latest nightly and then laid on the latest KT kernel and I still have no hotspot ability whether with WPA2 or open. I can see the hotspot but no data transfers.

Hmm, USB tethering doesn't work either. I'm guessing there is one common cause
By golly, I think I've got it. I did ANOTHER wipe and install and immediately tried the hotspot and it worked. Prior to this, I noted that my CWM was horribly out of date and was not 3.4 kernel aware (as evidenced by nested 0 directories). So I fixed that and then flashed and it worked. I then went to work restoring data using Titanium backup and that's when things went to hell. Something in the restore hoses the ability to use the hotspot. So now I am doing a more controlled recovery hoping that I can get back all the data I need without hosing the hotspot.
So, this explains why a dirty flash didn't work. Whatever breaks it was obviously there under the dirty flash. And my previous clean flashes always had a restore via TB immediately afterwards.
So, not sure whether it is only the restore issue, or if the old CWM also had a hand in it, but either way, I think I'm gonna succeed here.
Can someone post a step by step fix please?
I have the same problem; I have tried to replicate the solutions here, to no avail. Flashed anew, still same problem.
Can someone please post a step-by-step fix? Can I just flash a new kernel and be done? I'm on CyanogenMod ROM, 4.4.2, 11-20140210.
Thanks!

CM10 is 4.1.2 and CM10.1 is 4.2.2. You cannot dirty flash different Android versions, you have to wipe and start over, after backing up everything first of course.
Alright thanks!
Just a quick question before i flash, do i need to be on stock TW, cuz as i said im on CM10
And all i do is flash this, reboot and then flash CM 10.1 and gapps? right?
Nandroid backup first if you haven't. You will need to factory reset after flashing cm I'm pretty sure. Backup your internal sdcard too, just in case.

You don't need to wipe data from CM 10 -> 10.1.
PSA: Upgrading from CM10 to CM10.1
As you may have noticed, we started updating some devices from cm10 (Android 4.1) to 10.1 (Android 4.2) during the weekend. The upgrade process has been tested extensively for the older devices (manta and mako didn't have that problem since they started out with 10.1), so you should be able to update directly without losing any data.
The single application known not to work is the Clock: Our changes to 4.1's clock to add the Stopwatch and Timer in CM10 aren't compatible with Google's own implementation of those features in 4.2 (which we're using in cm10.1); If your clock starts crashing after upgrading to 10.1, simply go into the Settings -> Apps menu, choose Clock from the All tab, and hit "Clear data".

Thats why I linked you to it. Just be sure you have a T999V and not a T999 model S3. Provided you do, it is safe to flash. many have already done so.
You can flash it while on TW or CM.
The assert is already there to include that bootloader in the latest CM10.1 Nightlies. I would suggest to flash CM10.1 & Gapps, then wipe cache & dalvik, then check your Baseband under Settings and About Phone, it may already be VLDLL1, because flashing a ROM shouldn't change those files (modem, etc.).

Cm won't flash, which is most likely because the phone isn't on LL1. Even if it is, its not going to hurt it to flash that firmware package.

Same goes for when i flash d2tmo
I think ive heard of that status 7 error somewhere, could that be the reason?
ALSO, i can easily flash carbon rom 4.2.1
I just prefer CM and i like not losing my data, so yea, the fact that i can flash Carbon but not CM 10.1 shows that theres no problem with my version of CWM
Update your CWM if you are not using the latest version. Whether or not Carbon flashed is not relevant.
Also, don't flash AT&T ROMs. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Flash T-Mobile ROMs. With d2tmo CWM. Link to the Odin .tar is in my signature. You flash the proper CWM, and CM will stop hassling you. When you attempt to flash CWM, it checks your bootloader version and recovery version. If either don't match what it's looking for - installation aborted.

First, I never said there was a problem with CWM, though if you aren't using the latest, I'd suggest updating it.
Second, you never answered my questions in my last post.
Third, I don't know how old Carbon 4.2.1 is but they are now on 4.2.2. When cm went to 4.2.2 is when they started checking your firmware, so just because you can flash that doesn't mean you can flash something newer.
So if you please, do the following and tell me what it says.
Open Terminal Emulator
Enter the following line:
getprop ro.bootloader
Let me know what it says please.
Also, everytime I've ever seen a Status 7 error, its been caused by the firmware not being up to date. So at this point I still believe flashing that firmware pkg I linked earlier will be your fix.

Sounds like you might have flashed a newer Kernel with update WiFi drivers. I've read where that's happened and you have to revert (somehow?) to the old drivers for compatibility. I think this was an issue in KT's kernals, but you might want to do some reading and research on your own.

Could be. I'd go back and read the instructions and changelog for it. If it loaded a different driver, you will need to re-flash the stock wifi driver, not usually included with other ROMs. Not sure if flashing the modem files would include those either.
So where would I score the default driver?
