[Q] CM10.1 trashed my Google account - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hi everyone,
2 days ago, I updated my SGH-T989 running CM10.0 to CM10.1 Experimental. I shouldn't have done it, but at 7am before my first coffee my mind just said "Hey! There's an update to 10.1! Awesome!".
Anyway, it wasn't a good move. Since then I can't log into anything Google. When I go to my settings and look at the accounts, there isn't even a Google account type to add to my accounts. So no Gmail, no Google Play, no anything that requires Google.
Anybody else find this? Can anyone help me get it back?

I guess I didn't. I just found a link (goo.im) and am downloading them now. I'll let you know if it works.

Worked. Thanks!
Got them from goo.im/apps

glad it worked!
for future reference, whenever you flash a rom of a different OS number, you usually need to flash a new gapps (google apps) file to get the correct apps for that update.
And a "dirty flash" means you didn't do a factory reset (wipes cache, dalvik, and data) before you flashed the new rom. You should always perform a factory reset before flashing a new rom (unless it's just an update of the same rom), to clear out the old apps and files. Otherwise you can have compatibility issues.

Why do we need to flash gapps?

Newbie here, Why do i read everywhere that i need to flash gapps if I ever flash my device?
Is gapps Google Apps?
Yes they are apps and framework from Google, like Google sync, Gmail, Maps, Talk... Google asked ROM developers to remove their copyrighted gapps from their ROM so you have to flash it most of the time.
Yes, Gapps is Google Apps, and it includes the Market among other things...
We have to flash it separately because google asked several popular developers to leave google apps out of their roms since it contained proprietary software.
another noob here, just about to flash a custom rom (AKOP to GNex) for the first time.
if i have all apps (user and system) backed up with titanium, do i still need to flash gapps?
(on a slightly less relevant note: i'm copying all titanium backups as well as the rom backup from clockwork mod rom manager to my computer so as not to lose them when flashing the new rom because i'm not really sure if they would be wiped. will they?)
thanks for your help
I have aokp ms4, annd flashed the gapps thats on aokps website. I lost the Google Music player.. Is there a way to get it back?

I believe google music is still in the market. Just download it.

I would keep your titanium backups on your comp, just in case. I wouldn't, however, back up system apps as that can cause conflicts when you're restoring in a different rom. Just back up user apps. And yes, you do still need to flash gapps.

Google did not ask "several popular developers." To my knowledge, it was only Google sending CyanongenMod a Cease & Desist... because of this, developers decided to respect Google and stick to the respective Google Apps rather than including them in their ROMs. It is illegal to include these gapps with their ROM. However, you're fine with including them until Google sends that developer a C&D but only CyanogenMod received the C&D.
As far as TitaniumBackup.. you can also sync your backups to DropBox and now Box.

Download gapps from the given source and flash them via CWM like a ROM.

CyanogenMod at the time was a one-man project by Cyanogen himself. Not all these other developers who are now associated with the project.
@trissc: 1) Flash ROM
2) Flash Gapps
3) Flash Kernel (if desired).
NOTE: You will have to reflash gapps after flashing a updated version of the ROM. Otherwise you will lose the gapps.
Because Gapps are google's, they don't allow the third part developer use or edit them, but they allow users to download and install by themselves

Market Updater

Hello, I just recently installed a custom ROM (Darkside Evolution 3) on a Galaxy SII T989. I noticed it did not come with the Market Updater app (com.android.vendor.apk) and wanted to know why something like this would not be included, and can I reinstall it. I have a backup from ROM Toolbox of this app, so I can restore it.
Will missing this app not allow me to update either Google Play or my apps automatically?
Thanks.

It should, although you might have a bad download a reflash would probably fix it. A restore would as well I'd think.

Thanks for replying. I actually tried flashing twice, with a full wipe in-between, and still no Market Updater app. I would have posted this question in the actual developer thread for that specific ROM, but seeing as though I don't have ten posts yet, I am not allowed.
Thanks

CNA Gapps / inverted gapps and Lowrider fixes

I am not a dev. I deserve no credit since i did not make these gapps.. I just use them. All I did was replace the apps that I want like CarHome and the inverted apps along with LowRiders fixes. Everything works in this. I am still learning and wanted to contribute since I get tired of flashing gapps then adding lowriders apps and then flashing all the inverted apps and then replacing the system inverted apps, it gets tedious.
Only annoyance I found is that you have to sign into your Gmail when you first set up calendar & reader. Minor annoyance and most likely a sync issue, maybe a file is missing?
This is an idea I had because I like all of LowRider's fixes but wanted to keep the CNA gapps with the inverted ones as well.
Sorry, apparently my comp or chrome will not let me upload my file correctly so my Dropbox is here.

Warning! Do not download the (tiny) attached file above. It's clearly incomplete. Go to the linked Dropbox site. GApps should be about 120MB.

This is fantastic. Thank you. I did not have to re-login as you say above. All (including Reader) works without issue.
No problem, glad that you didn't have any problems. Weird that the one file is smaller, I'll remove it if I can. Took me a few flashes to get the gapps correct but I'm glad they work .
It looks great. The only thing is that it didn't replace my calendar so now I have 2 different calendars.

Was it a flash over a current Rom or a clean install? When I clean installed it the calendar was fine, when i flashed over my current CNA it doubled as well. Hmm.
Flashed over current gapps no issues! Thanks!

I flashed over current rom. I just clean flashed newest cna last night. Then found your apps today and tried them out. It's not really a big deal.

thanks for putting all these together. could you put a zip together that includes the camera enhancements plus gallery sync/picasa? ive tried to figure it out and i just cant, though i am usually at work while i do it so i am multitasking! lol
edit: just noticed it wont sync any of my calenders...it asks me to log in but when i do it says that account already exists...just flashed latest cna nightly after full clean wipe and then this gapps package

That's what I ended up doing. With a rom already on your phone it doubles. It does the same with the inverted calender zip. No way I know to change it.

I signed into existing gmail acct and everything worked. Did your calenders double up? If so then try removing the white one and then re-syncing. I tried to do change the gapps with the picasa and the camera features... something with the sync is messed up. Guess you can only have on or the other. If CNA can't fix it then I know I can't.

You're right it's not possible to have gallery with Picasa sync and AOSP camera at the same time.
Please keep this updated!

Yeah, I figured as much so I tried 3 different repacks and they all failed to sync. Oh well, we have G+ and other photo sharing sites. I will continue to update as often as the apps are updated. Thankfully it's not every night like this Rom, lol.

I just noticed my calander is not syncing. Google Calendar doesn't even show up under Settings > Account.
I tried flashing regular gapps and then this and it's still not syncing.
Any ideas?

Maybwe I removed the sync in the zip? I will look at it later tonight and see if that is the case. I doubt it but that is weird.
Wipe cache, dalvik and system then flash the same rom , these gapps and whatever kernel if you want a clean install with no duplicate apps. Everything is working great. Thanks!

Thanks. I wonder if it's a cm10 specific issue. Or maybe it's an order issue. Do you flash this without a reboot right after flashing your rom?

I am using CodeNameAndroid. I merged his, lowriders and then inverted gapps into this package. I can take the CM10 gapps and merge them with Lowriders and the inverted. I'll check it after I get home from the movies tonight. I don't know if there is anyhting different in them.
I wipe everything, flash rom then these gapps and then reboot. If I flash a nightly I wipe cache and dalvik then rom and gapps. Reboot and then flash the sexy soft keys and whatever kernel I want.

[Q] Google Wallet disappeared after upgrading nightly

I upgraded my nightly without clearing cache or anything because you don't need to. And I went to use Google Wallet only to notice it had disappeared :/
What happened?

When you update nightlies, you have to re setup Google Wallet. An update erases the Google Wallet app from the /system/app directory. Re flash Google Wallet & set it up again. In the future before you flash another nightly, open Google Wallet, & go into settings & reset Google Wallet before you flash anything. You have to do this every time you flash a new nightly. Read more in the Google Wallet thread.

Actually, just flash the wallet zip after flashing your nightly, before rebooting. No need to edit build prop after that.

I don't have to worry about breaking the secure element in I reinstall Wallet as I did not reset it before upgrading my nightly?
I simply just thought you could flash nightly without a problem as you don't clear the cache or anything..

hi all, last night i upgraded from cm 10.2 to cm 11 trough the updater and now i get a warning popup every 5-10 minutes saying that so and so app have stopped working, mainly google play services, should i re-flash gaps? thanks in advance

No it's not those.. It consists of Google back up, sync, play store, and other things, but I think it'll be better to just wipe the system, reflash ROM, and then flash kk gapps.. You should be up and running by then

This. Anytime you are moving to a new base (in this case Android 4.3 to Android 4.4) your best option is to do a full wipe and fresh install. You can backup and restore your app data to the new version, just not your system settings.
The CM installer tried to outsmart this but if it doesn't work perfectly, just do a full wipe and fresh flash.
However, if you want to try flashing a KK Gapps package, I'm sure it won't brick your phone. So it's worth a shot to see if that fixes it. It will only waste 30 seconds of your time if it doesn't.

No. I said that WON'T brick it. That's why it's worth a shot.
No risk. High potential reward.
You might also try using Titanium to manually uninstall all google apps and services before flashing the KitKat Gapps package.
