Re: kakaotalk re-verification android id
I've noticed when I restore kakaotalk via titanium backup across substantially different bases (ie tw to aosp) I have to re-verify my device.
Anyone know how I can avoid this?
There's some information on this blog that seems to suggests that the verification process assigns our android id a session key.
http://www.bpak.org/blog/2011/06/kakaotalk-session-key-3/
I tried altering my Android id and gsf id to match the one my kakaotalk backup is tied to. It is still asking me to re-verify.
I've also tried manually copying the data (after matching android id and gsf id) and I get an unable to upgrade message instead of the re-verification dialog.
Any ideas?

So for the past couple days I've been getting an error message pop up with a notification sound talking about Google Talk Authentication Error and says how it cannot connect and what not. I have made no changes to my phone and now I cant even download anything from the market now. I cant download free apps when i try i get the error "name of the app" could not be downloaded due to an error and when i try to buy apps i get this error saying Error processing purchase. Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.
Delete your google account from the phone, then try signing back into it.

It says that I would have to do a factory reset on the phone. I wonder if that will cause it to unroot.
Edit:
Got it fixed did factory reset and put in my google account again and boom all good, thanks for the help
Real solution

After cloning a samsung gio s5660 through a CWM backup I started experiencing the same issue. Heres What REALLY happens.
Google authenticates you in their services trought unique "keys" which are automatically generated upon system installation / factory reset, so if you clone your device or install a rom which has these "keys" pre-installed, obviously, your rom will only autheticate you in google servers if your phone is the only one using the service at that given time... Upon failure, your phone assumes to be the one who's wrong, and google servers won't autheticate you until you either tell your phone he is not wrong (by deleting the data from play store, which resets its status and errors) or you change the "keys". SO, what can we learn from this? deleting the play store data IS a temporary solution, and won't solve a thing. Let's delete the duplicated keys shall we?
Navigate with your favourite folder explorer on your android (I use X-plore, you can tell me anything, there's nothing better) to the following directory:
- "(root)/data/data/com.google.android.gsf"
Now you have two real options, either you may delete the all folder, which was the perfect solution for me, since my rom is prepared to re-create it upon phone restart and new keys will be generated, OR, you might want to just delete the contents of app_sslcache inside com.google.android.gsf whish are THE KEYS I HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS ALL TIME, YEEEIHHHH and reboot your phone...
Needless to say, take a nandroid backup before you do any of this...
Thank me later
For those who remember me from symbian s60v3 phones, yes, it is me, I'm back, and I've moved to the droid world, it's much better indeed
Sorry for some very basic questions about Device Id.
My assumption
My simple understanding is that your device id is a unique identifier that is generated based on your device and your Google account id.
This id is then used when for instance connection to the market and is required for you to download/install apps from it.
I know you can run an application like "Device Id" on the market to derive it.
Questions:
When will I ever need to use it?
If I flash a custom ROM - does that transfer over a new device Id and I will have to change the device id post-flash back to what it used to be in order for my device to access the market correctly - or is this something I need to do when/if I go back to stock?
Interested to see what the 'need'/use for this device id is.
Regardless I did make a note of mine...should I ever...need it
The identifiers for the device are in the build.prop and can be modded with root, to change system parameters and what apps are available in the market.

I hope this is the right place to post this.
When I had my EVO 4g I installed P-Droid, but either I don't remember how I did it, or the method for installing it has changed. So how exactly do I get it installed on my SGS3? I tried using the P-Droid autopatcher on my ROM AOKP JB 10.11.2012b. It said it completed but it never placed the two flashable zips in its directory.
Is this ROM not compatible or am I doing something wrong? I would love to keep P-Droid working again. Would be cool if there was a ROM with it already built into it.

PDroid allows blocking access for any installed application to the following data separately:
Device ID (IMEI/MEID/ESN)
Subscriber ID (IMSI)
SIM serial (ICCID)
Phone and mailbox number
Incoming call number
Outgoing call number
GPS location
Network location
List of accounts (including your google e-mail address)
Account auth tokens
Contacts
Call logs
Calendar
SMS
MMS
Browser bookmarks and history
System logs
SIM info (operator, country)
Network info (operator, country)
For device ID, phone and mailbox number, SIM serial, subscriber ID and device location it also allows supplying custom or random values.

I tried reading through it all but I am still confused a bit. I think it can be only used on dedoxed roms (first i've heard of dedoxed). I am unsure if its the rom itself I am supposed to patch or something else. I tried asking elsewhere but got no answer.

Here you go PDroid Extension that's the latest information I'm aware..
Best of luck
Sorry, I know this isn't specific to the 10, but I'm desperate. I just wiped my phone and now I can't sign in to Google without the Authenticator app (which I can't get because I can't sign in). I can't change my 2-step verification settings from my laptop because it requires a code as well. What the hell do I do?!
Edit: I don't have backup codes, but I did setup a backup phone. When I click "Try another way to sign in" it doesn't show any backup options, though.
I've always just had it text me during first time setup..
Yeah, normally texting is how I get past it if I don't have the app installed did you not configure it with your phone number? I even have my wife's number as a backup to my backup
I did have a backup number, but for some reason it's not showing up in the options.

On the phone click "problem with code" and then select text, it will automatically receive the text code and enter it automatically
or
On the website click "Try another way to sign in"
In either case the only options were to enter the code from the app or initiate an account reset.
I have root via Magisk and want to know how to change device id for a specific app as Oreo does that now instead of in the past making device id across the phone one id that was easily changeable via apps. Any ideas?
