I'm trying to get better about keeping my money balanced, I've got an Excel spreadsheet that's serving me well, I've got it in my Dropbox so I can access it anywhere. The KEY is to enter transactions as soon as they happen, as soon as you buy something write it down. Well most times that's on my cell phone. Is there a solution that I could share a spreadsheet/DB style document between my phone and my computer so I didn't have to transfer the data from my phone to the computer? I know I can kinda do that with Dropbox, but it's tricky and time consuming with an Excel doc. I need something fast and smooth, ideas?

I use Box for stuff like that. It is pretty easy to use.
Have you tried Google drive? I have not used it for this but its a feature they advertise.
You could setup an FTP server. Has always worked for me.
Same general idea as Drop Box but is faster to work with.
This is a more advanced solution.

I use sugarsync and dropbox, both are great, the only negative about sugarsync is no Linux support, and none planned

during a google search i found this site ripping posts from xda for a mfa site.

it was up within about 20-30 mins of me posting, so it has to be hitting your feeds fairly regularly!
time to start banning ips that access your feeds?

I think this is a cat and mouse game! If they ban an ip, they'll just find another way of doing it.......I don't think XDA is that worried about it because if they were, they would of stopped it by now!
Just my 2 cents.....don't eat my head off...hahahaha

this is kinda true in some respects, but the guy is using wordpress, with someone elses theme and so is probably just using a wp plugin to pull the android forum feed.

personally, i'd check logs for ip's that pull the android forum general feed regularly through the week at set times, maybe even try some test posts at various times to narrow the ip's down that hit at regular times.
then it's time for that ip to meet iptables
look for any agent strings - it may even be shown as 'wordpress' or as curl, or wget or a wordpress plugin name. i'm willing to guess there's a few wordpress occurances in your logs. report to google as well.

np. but... there's always the 'thanks' button
We're looking into this.
if you want to be a hardass, you may want to limit to certain agent strings for legal pulls like apps - of course, this can (fairly easily) be bypassed, but for the average webmaster dolt, it's enough.
Hi,
On the 14th of March i started a new project called XDA File Server. The purpose of the site is to host files for Dev's and give users a nice spot where they can find them. And so far it's been busy! 1,7TB has been uploaded allready and 11000+ vistors and more then 11000 files served!
The server it self runs on a 100mbit optic fiber line and should provide a decent speed to most people.
On the moment you'll find ROMS for the asus transformer, lg optimus 2x and xperia s (orginal firmware on the moment), i'm still expanding but it takes time and money! Hope you guys/girls like it !
the url: http://www.xdafileserver.nl
You can also follow me on xdafileserver on twitter.

*bump*
I'm still working on a easy and clean design so dont panic when you see one design first and a few seconds or minutes an other one, the downloads will go on.
Some stats so far:
almost 1000 unique vistors in only 3 days! 190GB downloaded so that's nice too. If any other dev's need xs let me know. I'll add some stock roms as well by gee one for restoring
Stock recovery might be a good addition as well.

Thanks for the tip
I'll find a good version and add it
Actually now that i think about it a good selection of tools like nvflash, adb, nachoroot, vipermod, drivers, superwipe, CWM 3.something and 5.something, Rogue recovery, other stuff that might be useful. Sort of like a one stop shopping kinda place.
This is such an awesome gesture. Thank you!
Another suggestion: Maybe you can have some pages (or the main pages) on your site link through coralcdn.org by appending .nyud.net to the domain part of your URL. By doing this, for public content, HTTP requests are automatically redirected through a custom peer-to-peer network using DNS and distributed amongst a huge number of caching proxies, reducing the load on the original server as well as bringing content closer (network topologically) to the requester.
Note: I am not connected to coralcdn.org in any way.

Good idea! I'll msg most of these dev's if they are ok with the mirror ( think they are but it's nice to do). And i'll make a folder for these things.
I'm still working on the site to make it as fast as possible for users that are on the other side of the world, but it's not going to be routed trough any dns service of anykind it's on a 100mbit fiber line it should be fast enough and it should support proper download managers (so you could resume).
I'll show some stats from this week later on
I'm in indonesia if that's far enough away for ya. Sometimes it drops out but that's at my end and it still maxes out my 3g.

Ok i've added some other developers roms to the server and i've registerd a new url for it you can now bookmark
http://www.xdafileserver.nl for all your roms!
If you are a dev or know one that needs a place to host their roms let them contact me and i'll see what i can do.
@Moderator Is it possible to sticky this topic? makes it much easier for me to keep people informed!
Ugg getting annoyed tried 15 times to download mar 27 cm9.
Keeps saying file is finished at like 15 megs.
Is there anything going on or is it just me?
edit: seems my 3g doesnt like your server. On a landline it seems to be working well.
Nopes it's running on full speed on the moment. But i'm going to change setup soon so perhaps that will fix it for you
oh and for those on 3g try: THIS and let me know of that works
Moving to a more appropriate place
I find your project very useful.
Do you consider including other devices as well?
Hi
Yes that's the general idea indeed. But i'm starting up slowly with some dev's and adding more while to goes on. First wanna see how much data this is gonna take .
A member of team xperia is uploading some files and is gonna use it for the 2011 range (and the comming 2012) after that i'll find and ask a galaxy 2 dev if he want's to mirror/host the files on my server
Just a note that the word 'you' on the website's main banner should read 'your'. As if you don't have enough to do.
Thanks for your work and such a cool idea for a Site.

Post any ideas that you would like in an app that would make our SII better and more functional
Please be reasonable in your ideas Thank you
I'll get started with an idea.
I'm looking for an app that regularly makes a cwm backup while I am sleeping. It must boot into cwm makes a backup and reboots successfully like nothing happened
No one has any ideas?
Im looking for a picture app which can rotate pics with gesture? Something like google map.

Probably it could be done with a simple script, but I have not studied cwm, actually I do not know if ithave a command line.

I'm not surprised to see that not too many people are entirely open to sharing or giving away intellectual property rights to "their app ideas" on XDA... Considering, how many members are developers and looking to capitalize from their ideas and work. That being said, I myself am not a dev and could in no way, shape, or form, bring my ideas to fruition in a timely manner... So, I'll contribute to the think tank with the asking of only 1 courtesy, should you decide to use any of my "ideas"... A considerable donation on behalf of myself to XDA Forums for any profitable gains from any of my ideas and a PM sent to me, just to let me know you're working to meet my smartphone needs. Please, include app names, so I can enjoy the fruits of your labor ASAP.
Now, I'm just awaiting the approval of XDA MODs concerning this part of my contribution before continuing with my ideas.
TO BE CONTINUED...
Seeing as how you can connect an external hard drive to your smartphone via USB and also connect it to a Tv via HDMI... I would really like to see apps take advantage of these aspects in numerous ways. First being, a means of using your smartphone as a video capture device with various video format configuring options in app. So, with a micro USB to Female/Male USB; in theory you should be able to capture video on your TV,PC,Ect From a game console, set top box, dvd, or any other median to video content from your TV through your smartphone and store it on an external hard drive. Allowing for longer video capture and data storage. If this idea intrigues you, please feel free to elaborate on any further thoughts you have concerning it...
P.S. An external hard drive with charging capabilities while in use would be nice to have as well. If it doesn't exist already.
im looking for a gps better then aura in graphics..aura its the best but

Goodbye DropBox? Hello Copy.com
Unlimited file size
15GB free to start
Additional 2GB For sending a tweet
Additional 5GB free if you use this link: https://copy.com?r=KM7Yye
Public/Private file sharing
Worth the look, could be rather useful around these parts.
Check out some of the additional features:
Multiple device compatibility –
Copy works across Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux computers and offers mobile device support for Apple iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad) and Android, with Windows Mobile coming soon.
Easy file sharing without limits –
Copy allows users to upload and share files of any size, including 1080p videos and raw photographs without size limitations often found in email attachments. These shared files and folders can be sent to anyone either publicly or privately and accessed from any location or device.
More security –
Copy provides a secure alternative to some other cloud storage services. Included data verification inspects data before Copy accepts it into the user’s cloud storage. File-level ownership is verified prior to transferring anything to other devices. Copy also allows users to share files privately using Copy's built-in identify verification.
Copy lets you undelete any file right from the desktop app. And on the web, you can even see different file versions side-by-side. Try that with Dropbox.
Copy believes that you should be able to organize your files however you want. That's why Copy lets you sync any folder no matter where it is on your computer. Even external drives. You can't do that with Google Drive or Dropbox.
Ability to stream video (And audio too I think).
Thanks!

With what happened to megaupload, cloud storage is a novelty. Startups like this are scary.

That said. Anyone should be very careful with cloud storage. If anyone hasn't watched the videos of Kim Dotcom and the fall of Megaupload it is very interesting and scary.
Sorry for jumping to conclusions and thanks for the info. I have to put my tinfoil hat back on now though.

the fall of mega upload yes and Rise of mega.co.nz!
they provide 2048bit rsa encryption and it includes entropy from mouse and keyboard timings/movements.
50gb for free!
the transfers are fast and the new system is designed so there is no longer any deduplication technology in the back end.. which is one reason mega upload got in trouble in the first place..

Just for clarification, some have had problems getting their extra 5GB. Make sure you install either the mobile or desktop app and log into your account, then it will show up.
Thanks for this. I like the fact that it's from such an established company.
Edit: the correct links are down a couple posts.
I posted this over in the AT&T forum and thought I'd give back a little cause its pretty cool.
I recently posted a question in Q&A about any TV remote apps that can be voice controlled. No luck. I stumbled upon this tasker plugin by Ozkaya that is awesome. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=45572797. It allows you to program your IR remote with Pronto hex codes(many found here http://www.remotecentral.com/ as posted in the Dev's thread).
I combo'd this with Utter! and like magic, I was able to program voice controllable macro's, functions, anything really as long as the hex codes were available. And there is alot of them. I have Verizon Fios and the motorola codes worked for my box even though they weren't the same model. To me, this is an awesome show off tool (and slightly practical if I am eating chicken wings and need to switch between football games!). I literally say "phone" to wake up utter and "channel back" or "ESPN". as a command.
I did nothing here but stumble upon a combo of apps that work great together. If you like the idea please check out the thread and thank the Dev's and support their work. I feel this is one of those gems that slipped back a few pages and got lost. Hope you like it too.
If someone really wants to get tweaky, here is another plugin for Tasker that will initiate the voice recognition in Utter! when the phone is on charge and the stop it when is taken off charge. Its towards the bottom of the thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=34339449.
Congrats using tasker! I hate it! I prefer just writing out a full android app xD

God, it took me hours to figure out how to get Tasker to send a text at a set time and for that have hated Tasker and never delete that profile, but going to try this out. Thanks for posting man

Thanks bro. Its definetly more of a cool show off tool but I searched hard for an app that did it and ccouldn't find one. Tasker is a little tough but this is all premade commands so its a little easier. Still took me a few minutes to set up though. Regardless, I imagine only a few people can this with a phone which makes it cool to me. Hope you like it too.
No problem.
I had a moment of being a complete ass.
Go into a local place that has the TV just way too loud.
Have the phone programmed to send the universal TV off codes and just say "Phone, shut that **** off" and see what happens.
