I've rooted my phone and tried several rom's until I noticed 10H can't install any custom roms. Am I stuck running the stock ICS rom or is there a downgrade method possible?

You can flash any LG based roms like the E975 JB roms.
The ones you can't flash are the CM, AOKP and AOSP based roms.
But yes you have to downgrade to the original ICS rom in order to be able to flash all roms.

I've been searching threads and can't find any old kdz files to use for downgrading. Know where I could find em? Also, would you be able to show me a link of a rom I can flash without downgrading?
Thank you for the quick reply.
I'm assuming you mean something like this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2127346 it doesn't work. I get the same black screen after initial logo like all other roms. Only way to restore phone is via KDZ restore.
After flashing, do a factory reset in recovery. Then see if it boots.

Steps that I do are before flashing:
Factory Reset
Wipe Cache
Wipe Davlik
Wipe System
Wipe Data
Tried once doin an F/R after flash. Still same thing. 2 Ways to do F/R right? Via recovery and by holding down the power + vol down? I've done it via recovery only thus far.

If you have custom recovery then you can only do it in recovery. The other method is if only if you don't have custom recovery.
Maybe your downloads are corrupt.
Either way you can try downgrading once you find the old kdz.

Sorry I realize this is old, but i always figured e97310h was the oldest one for my sasktel phone that I could flash to, but I was able to find older KDZ files from this site, i hope I can link it for you. Good luck.

Okay so I've gotten myself into a bit of a mess and back out again. (I think)
I unlocked my Rogers E971 and made a backup with cwm.
Then I attempted to install CM10.1 from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2031261
I did a factory restore and attempted to boot. BIG FAIL. Nothing Happens. Thought I was bricked!
I was able to open CWM to use my backup but BADCHECKSUM came up.
I was able to sideload http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2098777 and I think I'm safe.
However I would like to be able to use CM10.1 or any of the other roms.
Can anyone confirm that I am able to with 4.0.4 E9710E?
Can I flash back to E9710D?
I believe you have to flash the CM10.1 from E97110d
sent from my LG Optimus G E971 CM10.1 & Asus Nexus 7 PA3.0
So then I could use the Unbrick method here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010624
to format back to E97110D? If I can acquire the kdz that is?
I want to flash a custom rom to my LS980.
I have the new ZVC update, and have TWRP due to flashing the ZV8 Bootimg.
Is it now possible because I did this to flash Roms compatable with ZV8 and up?
I have a .tot file, but would rather not have to go thru that again..

So you meant to say I need to flash zv8 radio after I flash cyanogenmod 12 rom?
Yes
I'm currently on G2 apps rom V5, but wanted to try out KitKat and Sphinx rom,
I know there is the KDZ method of going back to stock, however I was wondering if I could load my backup from stock JB 4.1.2 before installing G2 apps V5, unroot, and then work from there. Is this method possible? Thanks!

I don't quite understand what you're asking, but I'll try my best to answer.
Are you asking about the stock OTA Kitkat when you say "Kitkat"?
If so, then if you restore that backup, then you'd also have to somehow restore the recovery or else the OTA will not work.
You will be back on stock 4.1.2 though and can flash any rom you want, so if you get one of the flashable versions of the stock Kitkats, then you can flash it without issue.
If you are on the E980, then the flashable Kitkat is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2760895
You shouldn't have to return to stock to flash Sphinx. All you'd need to do is format System, Cache, Dalvik, and Data, then flash.
Thanks for the reply sorry for not being more specific.
I have a 240L that was on 4.1.2 when I rooted and flashed the g2 apps rom.
I have been reading that I will brick the phone if I try to flash from my current rom, and that I need to OTA update from 4.1.2 to 4.4.2 as well. I didnt realize about the stock recovery though so the only way to get that back is thru flashing the KDZ file anyway?
Thanks again for the reply!

I'm currently trying to flash stock firmware via KDZ, however, the method provided on xda is not working for me.
LG Support tools is telling me that my software is updated already and is not letting me flash the KDZ.
What am I doing wrong? Please help, thank you...
I have an LS980 with stock ZVE that's rooted with TWRP recovery installed.
Knock on isn't working, so I'm trying to find a way to flash a different ROM (currently, SuperG2).
When I flash SuperG2, I get stuck at the LG screen, and the LED cycles through different colors. The ROM never boots, but I can go back to recovery to restore my ZVE backup.
So I guess my question is how can I move from my stock ZVE ROM to, say, a ZVC or ZVD? Do I need to do anything besides flashing the zip and wiping the system, data, and cache through recovery?
Thanks!
Tot is the only way

I also lost knock on with ZVE and got it back by flashing dorimanx kernel, you might try it I've been happy with it.
When/ if Sprint does a Lollipop update I plan to roll back to stock using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476.
Cheers
And use that to restore what is currently an F240 to Stock ATT? Clearly I have to root the stock one and install twrp, then back up the rom. If I get TWRP on the other device can I restore the stock rooted rom onto the F240? Has anyone done this?
