Hi,
This has been a complete disaster. I am a very new to this whole rooting, flashing, rom, etc. stuff and am not too farmiliar with many terms. i have done something quite recently which i am afraid has bricked my phone.
-i unlocked bootloader and rooted my phone
-using cwm 5.8.2 i think..??
-tried to install a cyanogen mod but kept getting stuck at cyanogen mod boot screen
-went into cwm cleared caches, dalvik caches, cleared data, etc.
-tried rebooting but kept getting stuck at the htc quietly brilliant boot screen
-went into bootlaoder and tried to factory reset
-still stuck at htc quietly brilliant boot screen
-found another thread about using ruu..??
-typed into fastboot command window >fastboot oem lock >fastboot oem rebootRUU
-stuck at silver htc logo
I am completely clueless on what to do now. If possible, i would just completely like to reset everything and have a normal phone
Please, any help is appreciated!
Many thanks
Downloadad the appropriate RUU for your One X and run it while your One X is plugged into the computer and follow the instructons.
For cyanogen mod all you had to do was flash the boot.img and do a full wipe.
Always follow the instructions in the future and you will have success.
HTC One X Viper X 3.3.7 (Variant 1 CPU)
XM-kernel #169
Backup: O2 XDA IIs WM 2003 SE 4.21
Do this
Fasrboot getvar version-main
We check for a ruu.

Thanks much, but how do i know which is my RUU, and how would i go about running it? would this get me back to a factory settings phone?
sorry for the trouble
And post back the outcome ...... I'm almost off for bed
Try this first :
Update the cwm recovery. Rename it to recovery.img
http://db.tt/Krlm4dPs
Then perform a full wipe in the recovery !
Install CM10
If you are on a JB hboot, that means 1.31 or higher you have to flash this boot.img file.
http://db.tt/uDdWaAtH
If you are on a lower hboot like 1.12 you nee to flash the boot.img inside the zip.
Flashing the recovey ?
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Flashing the boot.img ?
Fasrboot flash boot boot.img
Hope this helps
right now my bootloader says:

****RELOCKED ******
****security warning******

still stuck at htc quietly brilliant boot screen when rebooted.
From the bootloader information you have provided, the reason why this is not working for you, is because you are flashing stuff that's not meant for your phone.
You need to head over to the other forum. The stuff in this one is for the Endeavor version of the OneX not the Evita version.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
You can still enter the bootloader and recovery, head over to the HTC one XL forum and get an evita rom and reflash.

Hi,
I have htc one X that stucks on logo screen.
I want to restore th original stock rom but i can`t. Looking the xda howto I see a method but my htc have 1.28.161.9 (i get this using command fastboot getvar version-main) I' tried any RUU but i can't find the RUU 1.28.161.9.
My question is how can I flash 1.26 initial rom or any other rom if i don't have access to sd card to copy files, and any RUU gives me error of version.
Thank You.
Alex
What did you do before it get stuck ?
I flashed custom rom, but I tell you one thing I done many things, lock unlock, change recovery, intent RUU without exit.......
And now i don't konw how continue and my htc looks like a stone X(
Thanks
Alex
After you install custom ROM (which one ?) you need to do:
go to bootloader
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot
boot.img is the one that come together with the ROM and you must be on unlocked bootloader
When I try to do the fastboot flash boot boot.img:
FAILED (remote:battery low) the problems is i can't charge the batery, how can i flash another recovery if the mobile is relocked and i can't unlock by the same error BATERY LOW!!!!
I do too much questions i know, but i'm desperated.
Thanks
Alex
This is a good thread to have the idea on how to resolve the low battery and get the phone up and running again

This is a new one for me...
My wife Desire is on a weird bootloop. I can get to bootloader, but don't have access to recovery. Tried to flash a new one, no effect.
Last time something like this happened, nothing worked, so as adviced here, I switched to stock hboot, downgraded, and ran a RUU to full stock.
This time, tried to change hboot to stock, but as soon as I send fastboot reboot-bootloader it goes to an endless boot loop on white HTC screen.
Tryed running RUU with CM/ r2 hboot, but on first reboot to bootloader, it got also stuck on boot loop.

if its Desire HD u should post this in HTC Desire HD Q&A as this is htc desire forum. u will get a better response there.
also i dont think u can run a ruu on cm7r2 hboot, has to be stock.

Sorry, my phone is HD, Wife's just Desire.
I know it should be stock, but just cant change hboot... I was trying to return to stock, then downgrade hboot, but when rebooting bootloader is goes to a bootloop, wont go back to bootloader, and hboot stays the same.
Trying the RUU com CM7 was a desperate measure...

Yes, I can access bootloader by pressing volume down+power, or directly to fastboot by back+power.
In fastboot, I can run every command, flash hboot, flash recovery, etc, but when I choose reboot bootloader, it enters a bootlopp in White screen with green HTC logo.
Is i choose power-off, same result.
I tried changing hboot:
fastboot flash hboot file.zip
fastboot erase cache (tryed it before and after rebooting bootloader)
fastboot-reboot bootloader
Instead of rebooting to bootloader, I get thr bootloop...
The RUU process don't even start, because in the process it trys to reboot the phone into bootloader...

just to check, you should be flashing an hboot.img, not a .zip file.
instructions on alpharev:
- fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl.img (where 'bravo_alphaspl' is the name of your file)
- fastboot reboot-bootloader
- fastboot erase cache
you should see a 'success!' message or something like that in the command window if you manage to flash it
also make sure you verify the md5 sums of any hboot before flashing them (look for md5check online)
have u tried to change the hboot via the PB99IMG way? personaly i would keep trying to find a way to get into recovery rather than trying to get full s-on. hopefully kotag can help

before flashing ruu do this:
Reboot into fastboot via vol dn+power
Then...
Flash an RUU that wipes every bits in your phone then return to shop.(If it's still in warranty or else buy a One X )
OR...
Download a flashable RUU ZIP, place it onto ur sdcard and reboot into bootloader. It should work if you've got the correct file. If u don't know how there's thousands of guides on Google.
You should be able to run a RUU on a custom hboot if you flash the downgrader before. Maybe that works? It should just change the hboot version number.
Hi, for some reason, my device won't boot after flashing some custom ROM.
I've tried these 3 ROMs:
1: codefireX - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2003273
2: CyanogenMod 10.1 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2073992
3: Nik Project X v4.1 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1843300
I've cleared all caches, wiped my device, and installed all ROMs as described, but after I reboot all I get is a white screen which says "htc" in green.... I've waited for over 30 minutes each time, but the boot screen remains.
What am I doing wrong?

Then you need to flash the boot.img in fastboot everytime you flash a rom. Otherwise your device won't boot. To find out how to do that, use the guide in my signature...:good:
Appreciate your help, but that didn't do the trick. I downloaded the att-ace-30-isboot.zip, extracted boot.img and flashed it "fastboot flash boot x:\boot.img". The Desire HD still does not boot.
Also, for my Wildfire S (also S-ON) I can install any ROM I like, and the device boots fine. No need to reflash some boot.img
Any more thoughts?

I don't get it. Why on earth are you flashing that boot.img?? You need to flash the rom you are trying to flash boot.img.....That image is just for the Inspire 4G and has nothing to do with any of the roms you flashed.
S-ON and Unlock bootloader are two different things. S-OFF does not require to have an unlocked bootloader....Being S-ON is fine if you unlock the bootloader.

HAHA, I had a feeling I did not understand what boot.img you were talking about.
So I further investigated the zips that a custom ROM provides, and I notice the boot.img in the root of each ZIP. So I flashed that... guess what... it works quite simple
Thanks a lot for your help!

Hello
I need help. Please
I recently brought a friend's phone (Desire HD) to flash custom ROM on. I flashed boot.img via fastboot but when I select recovery, A white screen with HTC shows and after a few seconds, black screen occurs. I know screen is on however. I dont know what to do. The bootloader says unlocked but it says

The steps that I did was.
1. I unlocked the bootloader via HTCDev. It gave me error so I updated via RUU manually through fastboot.
2. After that, I was able to unlock the bootloader via HTCDev.
3. I followed this (http://www.teamandroid.com/2013/04/...android-422-jellytime-jelly-bean-rom-guide/2/) to flash method to Jelly-time on DHD. But when I flashed boot.img via fastboot cmd, it does not go to Recovery, it only shows phone with exclamation mark. If I reboot the phone, it shows white HTC screen and then black black screen. Please help me what to do. After unlocking via HTCDev, I didn't intall CWM, I though flashing boot.img is actually installing CWN :'|
Thanks a LOT in advance

That is the issue, that you didn't flash the rom. You need a custom recovery to flash the rom first and then the boot.img. You just flash a boot.img file from a different rom without flashing the rom itself.
Boot into fastboot usb and then flash recovery. You can use the guide or the tools in my signature to do that or just flash it manually. Then, flash the rom in recovery and just then fastboot flash the boot.img.

DHD Wont Boot after Custom ROM
HI,
OK...
I have an S-ON DHD with unlocked bootloader and decided to upgrade the android version.
Decided I'd start with 5.1.1 (cm-12.1-20150509-UNOFFICIAL-ace).
I have TWRP (openrecovery-TWRP-ace-2.8.1.2-unofficial) installed as recovery manager.
So installed the ROM but phone would not boot - stayed on HTC screen.
Looking for the cause I find that I need to flash flash boot.img of the ROM I want to use as it is S-ON.
BUT - to do so I need to use fastboot and at this stage I can only get into recovery and fastboot devices shows no devices hence I can't issue :
fastboot flash boot my.img
I think I should have kept a recovery of the original ROM but .... what could possibly go wrong ....
So bottom line I have a phone that won't boot but can get into recovery.
Any and all suggestions gratefully accepted
Cheers,
Paul

Ok the issue related to the fact that the laptop(s) I were using both (Win10) somehow got stuffed up by the HTC Diagnostic drivers which caused one of the laptops to blue screen (Driver Power State Failure error) on a restart and the other to hang.
Once I restarted successfully the adb and fastboot devices re-appeared and I simply flash booted the boot.img from my android 5 rom and all now good

Hello users of this fine forum! :highfive:
I'm having a bit of a problem whilst rooting my HTC One X.
I first read up about unlocking the phone, ADB and recovery mods (using the teamwin one since it seems to be recommended for my device, but can use clockwork too)
I then proceeded to:
unlock my phone using htcdev
do a fast wipe using the teamwin recovery mod
flash a new boot.img in the fastboot section
install the rom called Android Revolution HD 31.3
used a youtube guide called "HTC One X: Android Revolution HD (Sense 4.1 ICS 4.0.4) - How to Install - Cursed4Eva" which seemed to work pretty flawless
and... got stuck on the HTC quietly brilliant screen for the rest of eternity
I've got the HTC One X international (CID is HTC_E11) and thought this would be a breeze. Looks like something went wrong though, and after about 15 hours of trying to repair the problem on my own using multiple threads (had the same problem using viperrom 2.7.0 and the newest version (3.1.4 i think?) ) I thought I'd turn to the experts for help.
So... heroes of the internet, please help a brother on the quest for technological enlightenment out?
Thanks in advance and best regards.
P.S. if you need anything from me (such as logs or such, I'd be happy to provide)
EDIT: it now actually gives me the HTC One animation after the quietly brilliant startup thingy, but gets stuck on that step of the booting process. This happened after I re-fastbooted the boot.img for the 69th time.
EDIT 2: used CWM to install the rom aswell, this also doesn't work.

Use the latest version (6) and indeed s-on is not a problem.
Also check your hnoot number and flash a sense 5 rom.

The rom I'm flashing is sense 5.0, installed the rom with Phil'z Touch, CWM and TWRM, so I think it's safe to say that the recovery mod isn't causing my problem. What I do is install the rom from my internal sd card using a recovery mod, then reboot into fastboot and load the boot.img either via a batch file or via ADB commands in DOS prompt (or CMD. Do people still call it DOS? ). Yet my phone still hangs on the loading screen. I did a wipe before installing my rom using Phil'z touch aswell.

Ah yeah hnoot is too low. You can run the 2.17.401 ruu to get back to stock and then update the phone all the way up to sense 5.
Edit :
The ruu via android file ruu's is broken (only 80mb) that's too small for a ruu. You can also restore the stock rom (nandroid backup)

Unpack the nandroid to the sdcard, flash the recovery.img and boot.img from the nand backup folder. Make a full wipe and restore the nandroid. Then flash back the stock 2.17 recovery i linked and update the phone via official ota. You do not have to relock the bootloader !

EDIT: so.. right now the stock recovery is on there, I can't find the phone via ADB anymore, (error: device not found) and I can't get past the HTC - quietly brilliant loading screen. anyone have any great ideas?
So I decided to root my HTC One X for the first time and install a custom ROM. I had unlocked the bootloader and added clockworkmod recovery, I had also created a back up. When I went to install Android Revolution HD I watched the video it provided and did everything exactly but what it didn't show was that I had to install the rom's zip file into my internal SD card before flashing the ROM and now it is stuck in a bootloop. I tried to fix it by clearing cashes, restoring, etc but now when I try to enter recovery through bootloader the phone just shuts off after it shows the splash screen. I was wondering if anyone would know how to excess the recovery through another means, I also tried used the "adb fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" but it says device not found.

I was wondering if anyone would know how to excess the recovery through another means, I also tried used the "adb fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" but it says device not found.

Please make sure if ur phone is EndeavorU or Evita...
and reply.
You mean you have a telsus AT&T variant phone. Codename EVITA ? check your bootloader and what it says there. Entering the recovery should be fixed with
Fastboot erase cache
And don't put ADB in front. That's the wrong command.
And if you have the evita you are in the wrong forum. If that's the case you have to flash roms and recoverys from the HTC one XL forum !
I just remembered that Telus HOX is HOXL,
Here where u should search for ur ROMs and Recoveries:

I do have the evita but it said HTC One X on their site and when I checked the system information before I rooted it, I guess that might be why the ROM never worked. The main problem I have is that when I go into bootloader and select recovery the phone just shuts off so I can't access the recovery.
Well this is not the place to continue. Go to the xl forum and download a recovery from a link they provide there and try and continue the issues there
Cheers and good luck
