Have you tried to go back to another rom. I haven't had any issues going back between aosp and tw.

That is only if you are on a touchwiz ROM. You never said what you are running currently.

I never tried miui. Do a nandroid backup and try it. This is the only way you can find out.

Everytime the phone boots after I root it gets stuck at setup screen(but not showing anything!) I can pull down the notification and go into provider settings but that's it.
I'ved tried SuperOneClick and zergrush via CMD and still nothing. Tried all .ftfs I have (.42,.58 and .62) enabled both Unknown Sources and USB Debugging.
What I am doing wrong? This is the first time I've encountered this and I've been flashing for a couple of months now.
What ROM did you flash?
I had a similar problem with one of the ICS roms

Hmmm I'm stumped.
I fixed mine with a kernel change. Maybe that could be your savior

So I'm coming from cm10 on my phone. I have tried to install to touchwiz base roms and after installing the screen turns black right after the boot screen that says galaxy s3. Wondering why? Any tips?
Has happened in two romz. Wiped everything prior to. I am able to flash and run aosp Roms without issue. Running the latest cwm

AOSP kernel maybe? I know some (all?) of the stock based ROMs don't flash a kernel. Just a guess, haven't gone from AOSP to stock.
Do you have a nandroid of a touchwhiz rom ? I go back and fourth to cm10 to my stock nandroid backup without issue. Try that.

What kernel did you use?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Kernel was on my mind today since I went from WanamLite to DietICS and suddenly WiFi stopped working. It was because I had flashed the faux123 kernel while on WanamLite and had to reflash it after going to DietICS. Little things I'll eventually get used to!

Yep definitely kernel, would a said so immediately as I had same issue. Always be weary of the kernel u have installed when flashing to new or different rom as many roms dont have a kernel with them. And many custom kernels will cause this issue. U got it figured out anyways so live and learn and keep it in mind for future

I had the usb problem too when i used a new custom kernel that came out a while back. Are your running one or a custom ROM with one? I fixed mine by flashing a stock touchwiz ROM.
Hope this helps.

No custom kernel...I did play with recoveries before going to stock JB. I had CWM then TWRP, but now back to stock with Mobile ODIN.
I just flashed Stock LH1 with a full wipe, then flashed the leaked OTA JB thinking it would work the bug out, but its still there...
Turn off usb debugging.

Try flashing a ROM or use odin to flash it totally back to stock. Try flashing the ROM first since you can always fix that with odin.
That way we can tell if the phone is having hardware issues or not.

My i747 does the same, I've tried several time with stock kernel, Ziggy kernel and kt747 kernel but I Berber got passed the logo. I tried both, cwm and twrp latest recovery. It is the only ROM not booting on my phone so I'm not sure what's up with that.

Which really stinks because I love Galaxymod but I guess I got lucky that it worked well for me with minimal effort. There one thing I've never had to do on 5 phones and wont say it for fear of jinxing myself haha

What flavor of windows are you using? Does Windows recognize it? I have Win 7 and had to re-install Kies, updated it, and then ran as administrator in Win XP sp3 compatibility mode. Also, some have found hooking up the phone first, then opening Kies finds the phone, (Windows should see it first then ask what you want to do- click view files/folders and then minimize those windows). Just updated my GF's phone last night doing the above. Also, at certain points Kies may drop the phone, but reconnects and installs. Hope this helps.

Man, ive used odin a couple of times without any problem. I rooted and flashed su on 4.0.4 and then updated to stock jb and rooted using odin. What I meant by rooting is flashing a custom recovery. Yes, after all that I still flashed custom roms, lol, and yes, im now running a modified stock rom thanks to rushing who mixed the best mods and I just forget about tweaking and flashing many zips. Mobile hotspot working stock, priceless.
