Not a good idea. Reason why they removed it was due to all the burned in icons on the Galaxy S2's. At least with the gray notification the notification bar can age a lil more even and have less burn in. With the black the notification area don't evenly since it's not being lit up causing burns to stick out really bad. I hated my GS2 because of it.
Edit: Gotta love Amoled screens! Feels like when I first broke in my plasma years ago lol

I use the black status bar, but I collapse it on my launcher and my entire phone is inverted so I don't get the burn in. All my icons are ICS blue and all my windows are blacked out. Saves a ****load of battery too since about 50-75% of my screen is always off since its all black

Not really, theres threads on it tho if you search. Its not a simple process, you need to decompile the systemui.apk and frameworks-res twframeworks-res and anyother apps you want fo them and make the edits and png changes then recompile the apks and push em back into the system. You'll need to search for a guide and then spend the time reading and understanding what you're doing then make all your mods

Systemui does status bar and icons and notification panel, then systemui and the frameworks control things like menus more parts of the noti panel toast notifications loading icons download bars etc. You can use UOT kitchen online to do some minor mods like noti drop down, statusbar stuff, menus, download bars, loading icons and toast notis as well as app animations. It uses a gui so you can preview as you theme. Then you just copy the systemui, and frameworks from your rom and upload them and it mods them and repacks them into a flashable zip or you can make theme chooser apks for aosp roms. Just google UOT theme kitchen and you'll find it.

[SOLVED] Multimod in Epic Blue [Batt% Mod + Fascinate Music Player Mods]

If anyone knows who put out these great mods, I wish to give credit to where it is due. These are NOT my mods, a combined mod would be a big help.
This mod moves the time and date of the TWlockscreen down as to not interfere with the music player pull down from the Fascinate, it also modifies the coloring of the Music Player controls for both the lockscreen and status bar from lame purple to Epic Blue. And finally it adds in battery status by 1% increments.
UPDATE: kab0b0's work to get 2 mods combined ROCKED and solved one of the stupid purple backgrounds, I have now taken it a step further and managed to find both of the horribly lame purple backgrounds for the music app (lockscreen and status bar) and have modified them both to a more Epic Blue. I have uploaded this file. Again I take no credit for either of the Mods themselves (BOTH AWESOME, hence the need for combining), it was kab0b0's work that got us both combined. I just tweaked some colors, pm me if you wish to change them further and I can give you the specific files I had to change in order to get it working if you like.
I'll look at it tonight when I get out of work if someone don't beat me to it
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
If you haven't used that clock on the bottom mod it screws up your lockscreen pretty bad. If you still wanna use it though I can combine these mods for sure when I get off work tonight.
If you're just wanting the lockscreen mod for use with the music player, I made a new version that just moves the clock down and doesn't mess up your lockscreen. I can combine that with the other mod if you'd prefer.

Haha no problem. Actually, I'll look into that color change. I have a feeling I know exactly what needs done. Err but don't quote me on that lol.
Here, I rolled those two into one. I managed to get the background color changed on the pulldown menu from the notification bar but have yet to find the one from the lockscreen sorry. I'll keep hunting it down.

edit: nvm, i get it now

Is there a way to get this to work with some of the battery percentage mods? I want to run one of the circle battery percentage themes from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793805
and every time I flash your fix for the music player, it reverts back to the plain jane version at the top of the link I provided. And every time I flash the circle version, it gets rid of your mod. Can we not have both?
Edit: NM, I did it myself. I am going to attach the zip file I created here if anyone else is interested, but first a word of caution. I am not a developer and I have no clue if what I did will work on your device or not. Works fine for me though. All I did was replace the PNG files in the OP's framework-res.apk res/drawable-hdpi folder with the ones I extracted from the link I provided above. Seems to work fine for me, but again, no clue what I am doing here.

[Q] Notification Bar color change.

I'm looking for an easy way to change the background color of the notification. I do NOT want to change any icons, notifications, fonts, pulldown menu or anything else. I downloaded a theme that I like other than the notification bar color which makes it difficult to read some icons. Also a focus on the easy way is perfered and I'm not into modification that requires me to edit .zip files.
Thanks in advance for the help.

While you are in there changing the color of the Notification Bar wanna change another thing while in there? The status bar is green, like when changing volume, loading web sites, downloading progress, ect..., and previously I had a theme that had those blue.

Yep, that's what I'm lookin for.
Thanks for doing that for me. I haven't gotten that far into MODing my Epic where I make changes or even start from scratch on making themes or other modifications. I got the Samsung Epic days after my son was born so to sit down on a PC and work on this kinda stuff is difficult. I will get into it more probably once the Epic Touch comes out as my son will be old enough to entertain himself while I do this kinda stuff myself.

ok cool but for what theme... lol pd ani's hafta be themed to whatever theme it will be used for bc the add on itself is only available in stock froyo or gb
unless the theme your using has it baked in then all i gotta do is pull the images from the 1 theme change em white & put em on the other theme, instead of completely re-theming the pd ani add on to what theme your on & all the above
both dont take that long changing the animation's images takes the longest i just need to kno where to start

Thanks, looks exactly like what I was asking for. Its greatly appreciated that you could do those changes, esp in such a short turn around time.
But... (of course there is always a but) some other things.
Can you get rid of that blue checkerboard pattern that you got rid of in the Notification Bar through out the entire Theme? Messing around with it I noticed that it has that pattern in the apps if you bring up the menu. Really just anywhere that checkerboard blue/black pattern is can just go away as it is annoying and ugly.
Another thing, when in the menu of the Browser and Calendar, if More is selected the background color is dark navy blue and the short cut font color is a real dark grey meaning you can not read it since they are so close in color. So far I have only noticed it in the Browser and Calendar app but guessin that its also elsewhere that I have not came across yet. Can you fix that? Just make it blue instead of navy blue or black or whatever you think would look good.
Last few things, just take out that Shutdown animation as I use the Helix Boot and Shutdown animations. Also remove the font that comes with it so it does not install a new one. Last remove the Calculator app as it has that ugly checkerboard blue/black pattern in it also. All these last things to remove are easy fixes for me to just install over them so not as big of deal but while in there modifying the .zip I thought I would ask.
Thats all I've got. I know its a lot but if ya get to it great, if not I understand, no hurry if you do.
Thanks again for doing what I asked for the first time, and so quickly, but we are all the same, we want our phones just the right way. Then after we get it there we either get sick of it or we jack something up and decided to start from scratch again. Its never ending...
Greenmuggy,
Another thing on a seperate subject. A while ago I made a post asking about this but no one was able to help me. I'm wondering about the Stock Calendar App, really its the Fascinate Stock Calendar App as I like the way it shows upcoming events without entering each date like the Epic Stock Calendar App, if there is a way to add "Saturday" to the First Day of Week setting. It has Sunday and Monday as current options but my actual work week starts on Saturday which is not an option. Just wondering if you had seen way to add this to the Fascinate Stock Calendar App. Its just another one of those minor annoyances that are out there.

It will overwrite the blue keys. It only takes a few seconds to flash the blue soft keys mod right after flashing the battery mod zip. ;-)
I'll make one in the next day or so, just let me know what battery style you like best. The bluesoftkey mod by winner will overwrite the battery mod.
It would be nice to have the battery beside with the reflections keys... seems like one overwrites the other and I can't get both working at the same time... Nice work, though!

freshly baked metamorph theme in op! It will only mod the softkeys.
I made some additional modifications to a couple of the status bar icons (alarm and battery icons) and the power toggles in the status bar. If anyone would like them, let me know and I'll post a flashable zip.
Please note that when I originally posted this, I was in a hurry and I omitted giving credit where it is due -- something I don't make a habit of and I certainly don't condone. I suck at creating images and none of these images are mine. Some of those images are akellar's, some were taken from a battery mod collection posted by mrvirginia, the reflections soft key images are from hxdrummerxc, and some of icons are from the internet or themes that go back to the OG Droid. All I did was put the images into SystemUI in a way that I find pleasing.

Don't worry about it at all. Honestly I was joking anyway. Hell, I openly admit to using other peoples icons as well. I'm just glad to share what I find. No harm no foul

Here's the flashable zip file. Note that flashing this zip will modify your soft keys, pulldown notification toggles, and the alarm and battery icons on the status bar as shown in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21254342&postcount=12 (additional toggle icons, not shown, are also modified).
Usual warning: Please make a backup first!

[Q] Battery % mod for CM7 theme?

I'm using the Crystal theme for CM7 and It's perfect. Only thing I want to add is a battery % of somewhat of the same color. I know I can use the built in CM settings % but I first wanted to try to get an actual icon on there.
Things I've tried:
Speedometer gauge- all that did was reset the theme to stock, although the battery meter did work
Pulling .png's from another similarly colored theme- only ones I could find were TW themes and besides renaming over 100 files, there's no way to drag and drop them over to the CM theme.
Any other tips outside of editing xml files? Which I don't know how to do.
Edit, the UOT kitchen would have worked great if the theme had all 100 battery .png images. oh well.
Just swap out pngs with a theme you like then re-sign the apk. Legend-X is good and I swapped out Bonsai circles in it.

I don't even know how to sign an apk Trying to figure it out now.
Yea, I'm really not good with this stuff until I get it done 1 time. I can't figure it out. Oh well.
Grab Legend-x, or another theme with 100 battery images.

Yea I will. I think that's my only option if I want that color and a very thorough, heavily modified theme.
Google CM7 themes. There is a thread that pops up with 300 themes. You just click on each title to see a screenshot and how to download.

I have about 25 on my phone now. For some reason I like the crystal because it looks a little like the blue glass theme for our epics on 2.2 that I used forever ago. I'm going to use the legend-x though, I think.

Here, use this version and set it to default battery, not percent and you get the circle % mod. It will show as Legend-x in theme changer. Thanks to the Legend-x guy Kevin.

Theming help (AOKP)

I want to theme my own ROM's for this phone such as AOKP. I just themed Nova Launcher to all purple. But, I want to be able to create a theme that I can flash in CWM and not just the whole ROM (either works.)
I themed Nova Launcher with GIMP, just by extracting the drawable folders, editing, exporting/replacing, then adding back to the archive and resaving.
Can anyone help me out on creating a theme so I can fully theme a ROM such as AOKP? Or even create one for the theme manager? I can already tell I would get addicted. If anyone wants to help i'd highly appreciate it, so I can slowly get into Android Development
I myself have been wanting to learn how to theme for the theme engine. Didn't really find any tutorials though. I'm pretty handy with Photoshop but know nothing about development. Would be very interested in learning about the theme engine used in CM9, AOKP, CNA, etc.
Just add ur apk to the app folder in this zip. This is a base zip that anyone can use (I took it from Overstew's theme, and erased all of his apps/framework items.)

So I just edit the png's inside the folders I want edited, then move the whole folder into that folder, re-zip, and flash?
Ok so after playing with everything, I update all of the png's I wanted (which still left a lot of blue.. from AOKP). I then moved them all back into the framework-res.apk and moved that back into the archive. I got it to be flashable along with my .apks, but after I flashed it System UI kept force closing, eventually it stopped. I saw a lot of the stuff I themed was actually themed, but there was still a lot of stuff that wasn't. But what causes the force closes on System UI?

If there's any missing pngs on the SystemUI's drawable-hdpi, it'll FC instantly because it cannot find the png require for a certain task. (For example, if you accidentally deleted a signal bar icon, it cannot display what is not there, so it'll FC.)

Ok so, I don't have to change anything besides the framework-res.apk? Do I have to sign it or anything?
Also, I themed nova launcher successfully with just changing png's without any signing. But when I tried to theme Facebook, and then tried to install it, it just kept failing to install?

Same with framework-res. Any images missing will make it fc.
You only need to resign market apps. System apps do not need to be resigned.
only thing that sucks about having a white e4gt with ics... is that the menus clash with the product color lol. not that its that big of an issue, but i came across this theme http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654546 and am guessing it takes a lot of work to apply a white theme similar to this?
i tried flashing the syk sky theme on my phone just to see what would apply, and the majority of it did; however, there were some conflicts as i expected.
is there any way i could use some of what has already been created with this theme to work with the e4gt correctly? if so, any direction/info would be appreciated.

In case you didn't know, with samoled+ screens you want the most dark pixels as possible to save battery because a black pixel is completely off consuming no power. That being said, a white theme will just completely destroy your battery life...

yeah i know, but i wanted to give it a shot & see what kinda impact it would have first hand. i always have an extra battery on me to swap out haha
ill just deal with what i got and try one with transparency or something. thanks for the response.
