Hi,is anyone else having problem downloading apps via Market?I've got an unbranded, unrooted Froyo Desire and downloads were fine yesterday but for some reason unknown,Google Market has refuse to complete downloads. Is this issue general?Cheers

It is driving me crazy all day as well! I got the impression that it was because I installed a new ROM or because I added an EXT partition in Clockworkmod recovery. This was the first time I wanted to try A2SD and it drove me crazy all day not being able to download apps anymore...
Not over Wifi, not over 3G...
And now I have to conclude more people are having this problem today haha
OMG
Yer its killing me,
I need to download My Backup Pro
Just flashed rom and cannot restore nothing.
Just noticed the same issue, was trying to update the YouTube app and download failed. Have tried a factory reset and this hasn't worked. There is a list of possible fixes on the Google support forum, just search for marketplace fix.
Seems odd that several people are having the same issue on the same day, perhaps its a marketplace fault?
Yeah the market is not working properly at the moment.

Damn I need my apps!
Alright so it's not just me going nuts...
same for me. been all night. driving me mad.
Someone from an android forum website suggested the following quote and guess what?,it worked! :-
"I know its going to sound daft, but load up Google talk, sign in, and then retry. I had a problem with my Hero back in the day and that worked. My downloads are going through fine atm"

Market working again
Had the same issue all day yesterday. The Market is working again this morning.
Had the same problem last night. It seems to be working fine today.
Working for me too this morning, tired the Google Talk tip along with many others re: clearing out various caches but none seemed to work. Obviously a fault with the market place than our actual phones.
So is this a common problem then, as I've just recently flashed my phone to 2.2 on the JPM firmware. I was beginning to think it was this, but after I thought about it, it happened to me this morning while I was still running 2.1.
How annoying!
hmm it diden't work yesterday for me but this morning it worked. but now it dosen't :S
I was having the same problem and tried the talk app logging in method which had worked previously in similar circumstances, but this time didn't work yesterday. Later I cleared the cache for the market app via the settings menu and it worked immediately, but was slower than usual.
my unrooted 2.2 desire will not update or download new apps from the market either.
i was thinking it was a memory issue.... had some issues on ota rom upgrade recently and i needed to uninstall 'Google earth' to get it to work despite phone showing ample memory free.
Also I have had the problem since downloading 'voice search' or this could be a coincidence.
So my phone or marketplace fault?
Is everyone else able to download/install again now?
[SOLVED] This is not a market / memory / phone issue
Guys,
I was having this exact same problem and after doing a bit of searching on the internet I found a solution:
It's something to do with internal phone cookies / tokens. The market depends on two sets of data - the market app and "download manager".
You can fix this problem easily in the future if you force close both, and then clear the cache and the data from both from settings -> applications -> manage apps
The reasons signing into google talk would have worked is that it updated the internal token
It seems the time out is very brief - but this is indeed the issue and its fixed every time using this method.
As far as I can tell there is a bug on Android developers already registered.
Sorry Mate ... doesen't fix the problem for me
make sure you force close the apps, market and download manager. then clear the data.
click on your market download list to rebuild it too. then it should work
I had same problem on my desire, and I looked the way to fix it. On phones memory was just 8% of free space, and I erased some apps. On the end I concluded that phone can't download or update anything if it has less than 10% free memory space. After I erased some apps and on that way make more free space on phones memory I was easy downloaded and updated apps from market. I must say that I have non rooted phone.
I hope so that I help with my thread.
Hey all!
I've run into an error lately I've never run into before. Was just curious if anyone else has experienced this. I definitely have searched for people having the same issue, read a couple different threads on different sites, and still have no idea what is causing it.
I am running a few different nandroids of CM7-Nightlies. (I know they are nightlies and can't be expected to not have broken features, but my apps are having issues going onto my SD card. Sporadically.
If I try and move an app that normally goes to SD no problem (eg. Angry Birds, Dropbox, AK Notepad, etc.) I get the error "Failed to move application. There is not enough storage left".
It's interesting, because some apps move just fine. And some apps that normally don't allow me to move them to SD, allow me to now. For instance, I was able to move Facebook, Google Maps, Gmail, Voice Search, You Tube and many other official apps like that to my SD. But Dropbox, Angry Birds, etc. output the error.
I am on a 003 hardware Evo running CM7 Nightly 13 with the stock kernel.
I have reformatted my SD card 2 days ago, and threw a couple things back on it that I backed up. If anyone can point me in the right direction as to how to cure this I would be very thankful. Otherwise I'm going to suspect this is a CM7 issue and I'll shut up now.
Thanks again!
I also having this problem. Can't find any thread about this in the Nexus One section and found this thread using Google. I am running CM7 RC1 on the Nexus One. Some apps move fine but some won't move. I am thinking the problem is with the app itself, not the firmware.
i'm having the same issue with my htc aria cm7 nightly 12 & 13 (only 2 i used so far)
This just happened to me but I'm using CM7 on Desire, does anyone else have any idea why is this happening and how to resolve this?

I did have the same problem as you after upgraded to CM7. Was suggested by other people to try DarkTremor APP2SD.. it basically create a partition the memory card and trick the phone to think that as internal memory. As of now, I no longer having to constant moving apps to SD and worry about download apps!! i have 1 gb internal space now and it completed the phone! Try it
make note of the apps that is doing the problem..then uninstall them then reinstall..problem fixed
BuglessBeast GPA19
I am having same problem with the BB GPA on my NS4G.
i am also having this problem on nexus s running ics b9. re-formatted internal sd and it will let me move a few apps then the error starts again. could simply be a prob with b9?
edit: nvm, did what the guy above said, uninstalled app, reinstalled and it moved to sd.
I used the windows 7 format for my sd card and used the 4096 kb allocation size. if i used the "default allocation size" I would still get the error. Try that and see if it works. Mine works perfectly now.
Had this problem and figured out that is was only with apps I restored with MyBackup Pro., but only if I restored the app and the data at the same time. If I restored the apps, moved to sd, then restored data, it works.
I had a similar problem with one app, turns out it left a file in /system/data (think that was the dir) deleted file with root explorer and restored the app with titanium. I would poke around data, and app dirs and see if there are some old files there,

You could try to reinstall the app with titanium backup.
Rooted Android software is not able to recognise the apk file as move2sd function is enabled. Try moving the app using link2sd back to the phone and the app should move back.

For some reason my GN doesn't wan to download any apps from the market over mobile network, 4g or 3g. I can't even download small apps, 30-35kb size. Download starts then it says "downloading" for about 5 min and then message pops up " download failed" or "Error downloading. There is insufficient space on the device". I have 27 GB available and Wifi downloads work perfect.
Any pointers? Should I change some kind of settings?
Open the Menu -> Settings in the marketplace and see if "Update over Wi-Fi only" is turned on.
Try going to settings and apps and delete cache/data for market

cleared cache, restarted the phone (just in case) but still no go. I just think its strange that wifi has no issues and mobile does. As soon as I connect to wifi it's working properly
any other ideas? This is so freaking frustrating.
Are you able to browse the Internet fine over 3G/4G?
I would do a Factory Reset, if still no go contact VZW for an exchange.
I will try factory reset. Something just weird happened. My phone received and answered automatically a call from *22899. After a few sec it just ended by itself. WTF is going on

Its updating the PRL I believe. Chill.
trying ClockWorkMod (Hold Vol- and Power button at reboot then choose RECOVERY). See it it works
alright progress: now it doesn't say "not enough space", download just simply never goes through and shows "downloading" for 15 min now. Have anyone tried to microwave GN?
Flash stock images..
I have a stock Verizon CDMA GNex, and started running into this after downloading apps without incident for the first couple of weeks after getting the phone. What I noticed is that when I initiate the download of an app from a PC web browser -- it USED to work flawlessly -- and I thought it was pretty cool that I could be on a web browser on any PC, and if logged into my Google account I could initiate a download on my GNex as long as it was online, somewhere. Anyway - this worked fine at first.
Then, after downloading half a dozen or so apps, I started getting the "error downloading" / "insufficient space" error on the device any time I initiated the download from a PC. However - I could still do the download from the App Market if I initiated it from the GNex itself (not the PC). This has been consistent for the last week or so, until I finally got to the point where even starting the download from the GNex wouldn't work.
What fixed things for me (at least temporarily): clearing data and cache for both the App Market app and the Download Manager. No need to reboot, etc. Just clearing the data and cache from the Market and download manager seems to let things work again - from either the device itself or a remote PC running the web version of the Market.
Pretty weird though. When I google this, it appears this is a known issue going back something like 3 months. I'd think it could be pretty easy to address, and have the download manager and the Market clean up after themselves, and also check before attempting a new download and do the clean up then if needed. We shouldn't have to do this manually!

I had the same problem a couple of times. The easiest way to solve it is to run Lucky Patcher and you'll see a toast notification that unused data/odex has been removed. That should solve the problem.
You'll probably have to be rooted though. Not sure if Lucky Patcher works on non-rooted GNs.
Hit 'Thanks' if I helped. Cheers!

My battery had been better lately, but today it seems pretty bad. I checked my battery and it says "media server" is taking up the vast majority at 48%. Screen is next at 13%. What exactly does media server encompass?

For some reason it seems like the process that scans the ohone and sd for media files gets hung up. Not really sure why though. Haven't had it happen in a while so its hard to investigate.
Try wiping dalvik and cache on media server in app management.
If that doesn't help, nandroid backup, then wipe cache, dalvik and fix permissions in recovery.
If that fails to fix then try copying all your data off the sdcard, reformat and tgen out your data back on.
In dev options tick show cpu usage and you'll probably seed that media scanner process at the top.

Thanks for the reply. I looked and can't see options to do that. I'm assuming it's because my phone is still stock. The only things I've done to it are the update and running Nova Launcher. I'm not rooted, I haven't gotten the courage to do that yet, although I think I'm pretty close to deciding to do it.
It's not going to find many media files...I delete photos after they're uploaded to G+ and I don't even have any music stored on it, I use Google Music for that.
Will rooting my phone and deleting all the media hub and allshare junk fix this problem? It hasn't happened to me before, but today it wasn't getting used much, that's why the battery drain really surprised me.

You should be able to still clear data/cache on media server. Settings > App Manager > All tab
Find media server and you should be able to do it there.
You don't need lots of files to have the process hang up. It could be looking for a folder that's not there, or any number of things. That's why I suggested formatting your sdcard and see if it still happens. Otherwise since you're not rooted your only two other options I can think of are factory resetting, or odin flashing the stock FW. (Btw if you do that you may as well use MrRobinsons root66 fw. Then you'll get root at the same time! Very easy and safe to do)
If you want, get aLogcat from the market and run it, and save the logfile. Post it here if you like and me or someone might be able to find a clue as to what's happening. If you do this, also use the show cpu usage option to verify that the top process is in fact com.media.xxxx or something like that. It'll help to know what to look for in the log.

My wife installed the ota update from Rogers today.
Now, anytime she opens one of her folders the phone freezes and the error appears.
Any ideas?
I ultimately had to boot into recovery and cleared the cache, did a factory reset and rebooted. It worked fine after that. Got stuck on a call once after, but no more issues after that. Make sure to backup anything off your local storage before you do this, since these steps will wipe all your data.

Right after update the same thing happened to me, I factory reset the phone and recreated the folders and touchwiz worked ok for few days then at some point I ran the battery down to empty and the phone shutdown. Putting it back on the charger and turning it back and now touchwiz home crashes again when using folders.

This is crazy. Coming from a rom I would imagine this stuff to happen but an official update? I really don't want to have to listen to the complaining if I need to reset the phone.
Yeah i had various issues with the official Rogers Jelly Bean update too so I just flashed a custom rom. I never felt the need for it when I was on ics but one day after the update I flashed the Jedi Invasion custom rom. Rogers JB ws just pissin me off.
Same here. I noticed that the crash from one folder only. Then narrowed it down to the app that caused it - removed it from folder then re added it.
Works great now.

I get a crash in /system/app with ES File Explorer. How can I narrow it down to one file?
For me it crashes with any app in a folder.
Yup, same here. Started when creating a folder. After the reboot, folder is created.
But everytime I even 'grab' an icon on any homescreen (like to move it to the trash at the top), it freezes and Touchwiz closes.
Flashed the full, official ROM 3 times, downloaded 3 seperate times, on 3 different computers with 3 different cables.
A buddy that has an SGS3, never rooted or messed with, did the OTA and has the same issue. Another buddy did the same exact steps as me, same files, computer and cable, does not have the issue.
What the heck is going on here?!!?
I'm very disappointed with this update.

I spent ALL day trying to fix this and I think I finally did! I updated to jelly bean from Telus and all of my folders where crashing with the TouchWiz error whenever I tried to close out of them.
I found a post suggesting to go into application manager, find TW and clear all data (not just cache). When I did, all of my home screens lost my folder and app shortcuts BUT the crash was gone and has not returned even after recreating some folders!!
I guess it was the old folder shortcuts that weren't meshing with the update? Who knows I'm just glad it's fixed. I hope it works for you too.

I've done this several times as well. After I set up my home screens as I like them, after a few hours the issue always comes back.
Just letting you know, I'm willing to bet that it'll be back...
So after plenty of testing, at least for myself, I found that the cause of this error was that I had my app menu in 'list' view as opposed to a 'grid' view.
So anyone coming across this thread with the same issue, that might be the problem (that is, if you use list view. If not, I'm stumped...)
I have the same issue when opening any folder, I am also using the list view for apps.My friend also has the same issue and he too uses the list view. After clearing data in TouchWiz Home the problem goes away but eventually returns and always returns immediately after a battery drain.I will try again but this time I will NOT use the the List View and report back.Hopefully we can find the
cause of this, as the carriers dont seem concerned about it.

I came across this forum while searching for this exact problem. I had tried clearing the touchwiz data, but that turned out to be a temporary bandaid as it came back.
The touchwiz crashing just started happening to me again tonight, , but after seeing this I switched my app view to grid mode and I could immediately use my folders again without any issues. I'll report back after some time to see if it stays away.
And I too am with Rogers.
Folder Bug - List view, grid view
I also can confirm a folder crash freeze with list view on a Telus I747m Jellybean 4.1.1 I747MVLDLK4 .
I noticed it happens after a reboot with list view enabled. Switching back to grid view and folders work again.
Thank you for your help guitarguy :good:
Rogers ota update touchwiz trouble
I received the rogers ota update and had trouble with touch wiz and getting the same error message everyone else has been getting, and simply thought if I call "rogers" for assistance or search the net it may be time wasted so simply did a factory reset after backing up all my apps and data which google has done a good job of backing up I also have a 32 gb memory card with all my data installed on, so it wasn't much trouble at all.So what you can do is slowly uninstall all your apps if you have few or just do the factory reset. But as I recall my phone was considerably hindered by this problem with touchwiz.I reinstalled all my apps with wifi.
I just discovered the new photosphere and other google apps that have been released and wonder if these will also soon be released in a future over the air update and wonder if I should just bite the bullet and install the roms now. Does anyone have any idea what the intentions are? Can we expect these within six months in another update or sooner?
best
Fixed by disabling list view. Thanks.
