Verizon Nexus issues - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

For some reason my GN doesn't wan to download any apps from the market over mobile network, 4g or 3g. I can't even download small apps, 30-35kb size. Download starts then it says "downloading" for about 5 min and then message pops up " download failed" or "Error downloading. There is insufficient space on the device". I have 27 GB available and Wifi downloads work perfect.
Any pointers? Should I change some kind of settings?

Open the Menu -> Settings in the marketplace and see if "Update over Wi-Fi only" is turned on.

Try going to settings and apps and delete cache/data for market

I thought it was the ticket but it doesn't change with ""Update over Wi-Fi only" on or off

cleared cache, restarted the phone (just in case) but still no go. I just think its strange that wifi has no issues and mobile does. As soon as I connect to wifi it's working properly

any other ideas? This is so freaking frustrating.

Are you able to browse the Internet fine over 3G/4G?
I would do a Factory Reset, if still no go contact VZW for an exchange.

I will try factory reset. Something just weird happened. My phone received and answered automatically a call from *22899. After a few sec it just ended by itself. WTF is going on

Its updating the PRL I believe. Chill.

trying ClockWorkMod (Hold Vol- and Power button at reboot then choose RECOVERY). See it it works

alright progress: now it doesn't say "not enough space", download just simply never goes through and shows "downloading" for 15 min now. Have anyone tried to microwave GN?

Flash stock images..

I have a stock Verizon CDMA GNex, and started running into this after downloading apps without incident for the first couple of weeks after getting the phone. What I noticed is that when I initiate the download of an app from a PC web browser -- it USED to work flawlessly -- and I thought it was pretty cool that I could be on a web browser on any PC, and if logged into my Google account I could initiate a download on my GNex as long as it was online, somewhere. Anyway - this worked fine at first.
Then, after downloading half a dozen or so apps, I started getting the "error downloading" / "insufficient space" error on the device any time I initiated the download from a PC. However - I could still do the download from the App Market if I initiated it from the GNex itself (not the PC). This has been consistent for the last week or so, until I finally got to the point where even starting the download from the GNex wouldn't work.
What fixed things for me (at least temporarily): clearing data and cache for both the App Market app and the Download Manager. No need to reboot, etc. Just clearing the data and cache from the Market and download manager seems to let things work again - from either the device itself or a remote PC running the web version of the Market.
Pretty weird though. When I google this, it appears this is a known issue going back something like 3 months. I'd think it could be pretty easy to address, and have the download manager and the Market clean up after themselves, and also check before attempting a new download and do the clean up then if needed. We shouldn't have to do this manually!

I had the same problem a couple of times. The easiest way to solve it is to run Lucky Patcher and you'll see a toast notification that unused data/odex has been removed. That should solve the problem.
You'll probably have to be rooted though. Not sure if Lucky Patcher works on non-rooted GNs.
Hit 'Thanks' if I helped. Cheers!

Market hung on "starting download"

I have been searching for the past couple hours and haven't turned up a fix. A lot of people have suggested reflashing gapps and I'd love to do that but I can't find the apk or zip for it anywhere. Does anyone have a dl link for it? Or perhaps another solution?
Happened to me before. The market heals itself with time.

Try cancelling and re-starting the download. If that doesn't work, open up Settings>Applications>Manage Applications, find Market, Force Close it, then re-open and re-install the updated app. Works for me every time.

Done that 20 times already. I've also wiped and reflashed twice too.
I found the gapps zip and flashed it, of course that didn't work. I just noticed that I can't sign in to google talk either. Everthing I've read says that the market is heavily dependent on gtalk.
I am extremely frustrated and want to throw my evo through my damn window.
try opening Talk and letting that sign in, then restart your download and see if it works. If it still doesn't sign talk out and then back in and try again.
Works for me every time, I think there is a glitch that both apps must be logged on to work

Nope. I can't sign in to Talk.
By chance did you recently change your WiFi access point setup? Or recently attach to it? Your WiFi / router may be firewalling your outbound access. I figured this out after a lot of time banging my head with the same problem.
Even more bizzare was that once connection attempts occurred on my WiFi, just shutting off the WiFi did not resolve like I thought it would. I figured it would go to the 3G to continue... but you actually would have to power down the phone (battery out) to get it going.
Ultimately, I had to open up my port access (outbound) for my phone.
Go into settings. Force close market under running programs. Clear data. Open market. Fixed

In a shocking turn of events, now it is working again. I didn't even do anything, I just looked at it and it was downloading all the apps that I had tried and failed to download last night. New downloads are working too.

If you can fix that your market should work too, have you tried reinstalling GAPPS? It can be found in the Cyanogenmod ROM thread.

Market downloads not working?

Anyone else getting this or just me.
When i tried today to update one of my apps, i hit update and it brings the download progress bar with starting download written underneath and the arrow appears in the notifications bar, but it just stays at starting download? And once i leave the market the download notification disapears from the notification bar, i go back into my downloads section in the market and its still there stuck at starting download?
Ive tried restarting my phone, canceling and restarting the download, downloading a totallly new app, nothing seems to download, ive tried over wifi and 3g?
Help.

I'm still experiencing this problem. It tries to download and then says "Download unsuccessful".
I've tried clearing the Market cache. Tried on 3G and wifi. Tried CM6, deFROST and MCR9 ROMs.
It's been occurring for nearly 48 hours.
The Market forum shows lots of people experiencing the same issue. I guess it's best just to wait for Google to fix it. (I didn't notice the forum until AFTER I'd changed ROM's and done all my diagnostics! GRR!)

Worked for me
There are a whole load of fixes out, all regarding Market cache and Download manager cache and uninstalling market updates, i have tryed them all and none of them work however it did work an hour or two ago while i was at work.
Tryed to Download via 3G and Wifi to no avail
Seems to be a Serverside error not a phone error !
EDIT : Its intermittently working here via wifi - i geuss the UK servers are a bit hit and miss ATM
Force stopping market and download manager worked for me too!
But not sure when It will stop again!
Edit, it has stopped working literally 5 seconds later!
Just wait. Usually you can fix stuck or pending market downloads (and cloud-to-device message like chrome-to-phone) by killing "Google-Services Framework" and thus killing your connection to the Google Talk servers (that's how the market works). No need to kill the market itself, it's just a plain user interface. Then sign back into Google Talk by starting the app.
However the current issue seems to be a server-side problem. Give it some time instead. It might be some Gingerbread goodness being rolled out, it might be yet another glitch in the market.

Market "Download paused" message

The last it happened it turned out to be issue with the Market itself, but now no one is taking about it and I have not been able to get any updates or download anything from the Market for days.
I've tried every suggestion I came across to no avail; clearing cache, data in any app that seems to have anything to do with downloading from the Market, logging in/out/in to GTalk, downgrading the Market app to stock. Nothing works, and it all started happening out of the blue; no problem one day, and the next day the Market doesn't work no matter what.
I don't remember making any changes to the phone, it's been setup a while ago and running to my satisfaction, except for one thing; some days before the Market stopped working I started noticing that my battery wasn't holding up as well as it used to, but I don't know it this has anything to do with the matter at hand. I'm on a rooted 2.2.1 (mistakenly) released by US TMo with a Go Launcher EX.
So, is it me and my phone, or something outside of my doing. I would hate to do a factory reset, so would anyone have a better plan of action.
Thanks

In the American ROM there are three settings in the Data Manager under Data Delivery; Background Data, Data Roaming, and Data Enabled. I guess the closest would be the last one and it pertains to having data enabled over mobile network. All but the roaming were enabled.
@scrannel: It was happening in both, mobile and WiFi.
Thanks guys, frustrated, I ended up doing a factory reset and restore after all. Now my battery use is back to normal (i.e. excellent) too.
Drat, things (software settings) are fragile; falling apart under normal use.
I am experiencing the same problem. Tried a lot of methods like clearing cache and all but nothing worked.
Everytime I start a download it says 'downloading' for a few seconds and then says 'download paused' and remains there.
This issue is on wifi only, and happened out of the blue yesterday. On my 3g data connection the apps download just fine.
What can I do?
I am having the same problem with downloads from the market, but only on 3g. Everything is fine on WiFi. 99/100 times, an App will take forever to download on 3g, pausing 5-10x during the process. This has been going on since Friday I believe. I have switch roms, complete data wipe, formatted my memory card, deleted .android-secure on teh SD card, nothing helps.
I don't know if its the 3g network or what, but it's really starting to aggravate me
Settings -> Data manager -> Data Saver -> untick "Enable Data Saver" should do the trick
Data Saver off wouldn't help those of us who got "WiFi-exclusive" Market stucks.
Worse yet, sometimes at certain WiFi networks (for example those they give at Starbucks) it works just fine, stuff downloads in huge chunk (from waiting list). Then on other WiFi it wouldn't work.
I even tried it at home WiFi spot with all firewall offline, and still no cigars - "paused".
My market suddenly started working again, but now after a few days it says 'downloads paused' again..
What is happening!

i had the same problem with my stock 2.2.1 defy (but in my case the market got stuck on the old version and wouldnt even update itself). the only thing that helped was doing a factory reset from recovery, and now everything works fine. but afaik there's an app backup option (only in 2.2), so if you do a factory reset you can have most of your apps installed in a minute from backup. good luck!

[Q] Facebook (build 132866) Downloading Forever

It just appeared in my notification blind saying that it was downloading Facebook (build 132866). It's not downloading from the Play Store. If I check the App Info (hold on the notification and click App Info), it's the Download Manager, not Play Store. According to the Play Store, I have the latest version of Facebook and I don't have automatic updating on it. Clicking this download doesn't open anything. I tried restarting my phone and it was the first thing to appear on my phone, even before the launcher finished loading!
It's been downloading forever and I don't know how to stop it! Any ideas what to do with it?
SOLVED! Connect to a WiFi and it'll download instantly.
Facebook (Build 132866)
I had the same issue you had. For me, it took about 24 hours for the application to actually begin to download, then it asks you to install it. I did because I wanted to see what happens, but as far as I can tell it didn't do anything. I still have the newest version of Facebook (2.2.1), nothing on my phone was modified or removed.
I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I'm with WIND Mobile, I have a friend who's with Sprint who's had the same issue as well. I'm the only one out of all my friends that this has happened to. So if anyone else has a good explanation as to why this happened please share
UK too
Not that this helps anyone, but it's happening in the UK too. I'm on H3G, just about to tweet them and see if they know anything about it (they probably wont) seeing as this is happening on both sides of the pond, on different networks, it looks like it's an HTC fail. It's been downloading on mine for about 17 hours now
Seeing the same thing for a couple of hours now on my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3. I've tried a reboot as well as a power down/power up and it keeps coming back after reboot. Maybe I'll do a battery pull and see what happens -- or turn on my WIFI to see if it completes quicker.

Oh thanks for the idea! I turned on my WiFi and it downloaded straight away. I guess this is an update directly from the Facebook app and not a phone specific thing.
Downloaded and installed, was stuck downloading also until I turned on wifi. I do not notice anything new or different. I am wonder why this is being pushed out like this instead of a market update. I did a Google search to see if Facebook or anyone else has announced this update, but didn't find anything other than posts like this one.

I'm seeing this too my my T989. I didn't know that the Facebook app could update itself outside of the Play Store. Not very happy about it.
Even after uninstalling Facebook and Facebook Pages Manager, it is still there trying to download!
Update: Killing Download Manager app removed it from my notification bar.
Update 2: Now it is back, even with all Facebook apps uninstalled!
I'm getting this right now heading back to work to connect to the t
wifi
I wonder if this update has anything to do in preparation for this....

Here is a solution someone posted and it worked for me, I have a galaxy note 2. Go to the downloads folder and you will probably see two entries of this file trying to download. Delete them both. No more hanging download.
Connected to the wifi and it downloaded and forced me to update my Facebook app with no significant changes.
What the heck is this crap? I don't see "turn on wifi" as a solution to the problem. I'm wondering why in the heck Facebook is downloading crap externally from the market. If anyone finds any kind of an explanation to this I would greatly appreciate it.
Uninstalling and rebooting an app and still getting a some rogue hung download only to "turn on wifi" to get it to go away? Really? I don't even want it on my phone any more.
btw if you don't want to turn on wifi to download it you can apparently uninstall the app then kill download manager and it seems to go away.

Yes it will, but if you force stop the download manager, then clear the cache and data, it seems to stop. I had the ongoing download for days...I could force stop and it would pop back after a few minutes...I even
uninstalled Facebook and it kept popping back up... but after clearing all data and cache, it hasn't come back yet

This worked perfectly for me. Killing the download manager only delays the forced update. As soon as you restart it, the auto update resumes. Deleting the actual files in the folder is the only thing that worked for me.

I don't know you already fix this problem or not.
I searched several site and finally got an answer for this problem.
Just connect WiFi and let it do whatever it want.
Before I found this, I tried several things;
1. restarted my phone
2. pulled out battery and put back
3. killed the process from task manager
4. removed FB account
5. removed FB app from my phone (actually, back to previous version) and update again
Non of these helped me ever!!!
Also, this problem is not device specific. (I realize it after googling it)
I mean various devices and locations had the same issue.
Anyway, good luck!!!

Thanks. Connecting it to wifi did allow it to finish the unending installation very quickly. That was annoying and I'd like to know why an update initiated on its own, seemingly from within the app and not through the Play store (I do not have any auto-updates allowed, especially for social media apps), and drained my battery while it looped an install process that was apparently constantly seeking a wifi signal to complete.
Thanks a lot!!

I get this notification that says it's downloading. But when I go to app info. It's from downloads instead of the Play Store. I don't know what it is. When I disable the app. Everything stops working; Play store, Chrome, Facebook, etc. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem?

I started having this issue today on my Galaxy Tab 2. The only solution people found on different forums is ti turn on WiFi. It'll immediately start downloading and would get installed (Probably due to its size it does not want to be downloaded on 3G/4G). Although I don't feel very comfortable installing this, Does not feel very genuine to me.
Did any one else had this problem? or any issues after installing it?
I had to switch to Wifi about 3 or 4 times and then it finally downloaded. It tried to download all of last night and killed the battery. In the mean time my phone has switched to using Edge instead of 4g and no matter how many times I switch Airplane mode on/off or restart the phone I can't get my 4g back. Think it is just a local problem? I've got a S3 on T-mobile in Orange County, CA.
