converting to e971 - LG Optimus G (International)

I'm using lg-f180k (korean ver)
but i don't know why when I flashed E971 kdz, i can't get the 3g or 4g signal.
Rather than 3g and 4g signals, wifi is working perfectly.
I flashed EFS partitions but still the signal was still dead.
I thought in EFS partition the baseband is included in there.
Is that wrong info?
I mean is the baseband included in modem.img?
plz
help me out..
I'm trying to flash CM10.1 but still, only the signal is not working.

By looking at the baseband.img in another thread for f180l its much larger than the EFS dumps FreeGee dumped for me. So think you would need to find a baseband.img for f180k and flash.

Which kdz version did you flash e or d ?
You will need to flash your modem.bin from your model after the rom in recovery you may have to extract the files from the original kdz from your model or maybe someone has done this already for your device

Why do people think like that : "Hey, I want "X" rom on my phone, however, it doesn't run on the phone I have. No problem, I can flash the firmware from a different phone on it. I don't know what I am doing, I don't know the risk, problem won't happen."
1st. F180, E973, E975, E971, E970, ls970 are all differents phone. Even if we want to think otherwise.
2nd. There are a few threads here saying if you flash korean baseband on north-american phone, you will loose signal for good. I suppose it goes the other way. (Just an example : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2073463)
enjoy your hosed radio.
P.S. EFS does not contain baseband. Modem partition contain the modem partition and it's mmcblk0p1 on our phone. Also, the baseband is not included in modem.img, it is the modem.img.

1- installed official ICS kdz (F180S10j_00.kdz) ...it solved the signal issue... phone was working properly ..
2- rooted the phone and made backup of efs (with App = "Optimus G Tweaker - G Tools" from Google play
3- Copy the backup file (08 file with extension img) from phone internal memory to my PC
4- installed the official JB (F180S20L_00.kdz) .....
5- rooted the phone and copied the efs backup files back to phone and restored efs with same app
6- Now everything is working fine

Firstly, about your IMEI : just flash the KDZ file again (for your phone version, imean F180S)
Secondly, about your signal after convert from F180 to E975, do as below
Your phone has been changed the baseband.
So just flash baseband again.
See your baseband here :
http:// www. sv5.4share.vn/1/?i=6755505e57525351&pad=58696b6f6b6d6d6a616c60&f=F lash%20Baseband.rar&l=654a080b114a1601004a57525c55 5555554857525c545555554a57525c55505153&uf=47347776 717174727476747270&sid1=59776b4060476c436f546d4577 46684477456c4477466b447a466a406a426c45604361546954 2a
Download the file as the link above, extract it. Copy the *.img file that base on your phone version (L,S,K) to your root
Running the file *.bat that base on your phone version (L,S,K)
==> reboot : DONE

Please help me.
I need a F180L 10q kdz or efs of this version. Bought an optimus g from Hong-Kong. Korean version (U+). I updated to hungarian 4.1.2. and no 3g or LTE. I found this method, but I don't have original ics rom to install it back. I think it will work with F180s10j_00.kdz.
The phone is the e975 international version, so the hardware must be good.

Don't flash korean modem on e975. You might brick your device.
What lte bands are used there?

Your IMEI WILL BE LOST IF FLASH NEW BASEBAND SO U MUST CREATE A BACK UP FIRST OF UR EFS PARTITION AND RESTORE IT LATER AFTER FLASHING NEW BASEBAND
---------- Post added at 09:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:21 PM ----------
You need your imei because it`s how a network carrier checks that you are using the sim card in that phone
Imei
Please tell me what to do. I have my imei (wrote it down before upgrade), but how can I create a backup of efs. I read about freegee, but - if I'm not mistaken - I need to make it work 3G/LTE, then make a backup of efs.
Please write me a tutorial what to do.

Dear Kimitza,
Looks like You are some kind of expert of this, and probably speak better english than me, but I'm still a human. Unfortunately not as smart as You. I asked for a help, and if I'm not mistaken this forum is for helping each other. You don't have to be rude, because You know something better than me. If You don't want to help me don't do it. Maybe You can't help me, maybe You don't know the solution for my problem.
I hope someone will be kind and help me out.

no my friend,i don't consider myself smarter than anyone.i never did, because it's all relative. i may know a litle more than you and somebody else may know more than me.it's just i'm sick of repeating the same things over and over, like a broken record. I always say, READ and SEARCH first. Make a backup,be safe than sorry.
True, this forum is for sharing and help. But you gotta help yourself and think first. "Hey,i'm about to do something that can brick my phone. How do i do it safely?Where do i find the solutions?" If you would ask BEFORE doing,i would be more than happy to provide all the knowledge i have. we all would. but i see more and more questions about repairing damages made by ignorance. Your problem would've not appear in the first place if you would've used this forum. Don't get me wrong, it's your money and your phone, you can do whatever you like/want with it.All i'm saying is don't complain here about the answer you get because you screw up.
Optimus g
Here is the whole story. Bought an optimus g (international verison), when I get it, the phone offered me an OTA upgrade from 4.0.4 to 4.1.2. I never thought that this will cause me any problem. Everything was normal and official, this is why I did not make any backup. This is my third phone from abroad and never had any problem like this. The problem appeard when I put the sim inside. No 3G/LTE. I did search everything, tried almost everything: rooted, unlocked bootloader, tried official ROM (KDZ), unofficial ROM, flashed baseband, modem. Did everthing exactly I read about it at xda forums. Nothing seems to be working. Looks like You are my last chance, so please help.....

Make up your mind already. E975 is not the same with F180L . Different devices my friend.
My next question is,do you have network signal? if you do, have you checked your carrier settings?meaning the APN?

I would like to know if there is a way to upgrade my baseband without flashing an all KDZ.
Thank you.

Sure, you can flash a modem separately. You just need to find it. For example, @houstonn has some modems available for download; the latest on his list is 10b. There might be a way to extract a modem from KDZ, but I am not familiar with the process...
I searched for a solution to this for quite a while. flashing the modem partition from somebody else is rather easy. there are several ones around here and basically all they do is to use dd. the annoying thing for me was that the misc partition contains the actual baseband name string and since it also contains the imei you can't flash the misc partition from someone else. the only solution then is to modify it using again dd and a good hex editor. the problem with this is that nobody knows for sure what happens if you make a mistake or if the strings don't have the same length.
another option is to extract it from the kdz, but I didn't find someone who successfully did that to list the offsets of each partition inside the large data file that you get from extracting the kdz. I didn't manage to find some magic codes to identify each partition either so trial and error was the only way.
I wasn't willing to risk either way so in the end I admitted my failure, did a backup and flashed the full 10h kdz.
if you do manage to find a way to split the kdz please update us. if you want my modem partition I can upload it (let me know if you want it as a flashable zip).

[HELP!] No signal after flashing Vanir ROM

Hi everyone!
I need help again, I flashed Vanir ROM (http://www.emccann.net/nuclearmistake/VanirAOSPNightlies/geehrc/) but it didnt work, so I flashed it back to Cyanogenmod 11 but forgot to put the sim card back during flashing, but the thing is, after i put the SIM back after flsahing, the SIM card is being detected (it says "No Service - Globe" [Globe is the name of my provider]) but there is no signal. I tried reflashing back to stock ROM... then restored EFS backups... its still not working ("Service Disabled"). I even did a complete wipe, including system folder and reflashing to stock ROM... but its still not working.
Also I tried playing adb earlier because i tried copy/pasting a rom to my phone. i tried adb kill-server, then adb start-server, adb usb, adb devices... did something on these commands affected this issue?

Before installing ROMs of other models always have to make a backup of your IMEI and Modem just to avoid problems like this, if you not make the backup will have to try flashing the KDZ from your country and operator, if the persists the problem flashing via Recovery the E977 modem of Claro-Brazil that is compatible with models E976, E977 and E987, here I leave the link:
http://downloads.codefi.re/houstonn/lgog/modem/E975_E977_E976/cwm-lgog_e977-brazil_10b-modem.zip
Cheers and good luck

Have you tried going back to stock jb?
Start from jb. It's the most stable version we have.
Then you can root and install twrp from flashify. It's the most up to date recovery we have. Forget about the others because they can be buggy.
After that you can choose whichever room suits you. But I'd recommend SlimLP...

You'll probably have to flash Telcel firmware first (E980H variant I think, not sure if Telcel or something else), then AT&T firmware to get your network back. Also, you must do a full (CSE, if I'm not wrong, haven't started LGFlashTool in a while ) flash, with complete internal wipe - "update" flash just changes system, boot and recovery, not modem/firmware images which are ones you need... Also, you MAY try flashing madmack's modem (it's ripped from AT&T E980 firmware) before flashing OEM images...
I really don't understand why are you people messing with modem images and other stuff like that at all... especially without backups. Last year I had to mess with nearly 10 phones from my friends/associates, because they got their modem/efs images broken/corrupted trying to flash something which isn't made for their device...
Actually did it, not working with AT&T rom, Tried with telcel then I flashed AT&T rom and nothing, nothing is working for me, tried the madmack modem file and nothing works. still no signal
Have you done a FULL flash? Are you sure you have E980 variant (difference between E98x variants is literally in modem firmwares)? This more looks like you have flashed wrong stock firmware.

Shady, I really apreciate your help, thanks for answer, my friend sell me that phone, he said is a E980, but after see the imei is a E981h version for argentina where I live, before flash the korean lollipop, my 4G works perfect, now I dont have signal, I tried the E980 and well, not signal, I tried E981h too because is a variant from south america too and maybe can work and actually is the real stock firmware for my phone, no signal, nothing.. I tested the phone with 2 firmwares from E989 (1 from Brazil the other one is from CHILE) and is working but only WCDMA 3G and sometimes the signal drops and I only have 16gbs for storage.
More clear, this is my summary.
1) E980 Firmware from AT&T, Telcel and Panama = No signal
2) E981h Firmware for my E981h, Stock Retail and Movistar Telefonica KitKat and JellyBean = NO SIGNAL
3) E989 Firmware from Brazil Retail and Chile Claro = Just WCDMA and signal drops.
4) Custom ROMs? Just tried the CloudyGX 1.0 with E980 patch and E988 just for test = NO SIGNAL
I can't find the problem, also my phone was in the service before this and was totally useless for them, but I think these guys wasn't too profesional for be honest, i'm pretty sure.

Custom ROMs won't do a thing because they are using firmware images on your modem partition.
IMEI says it's E981H Argentina, but it doesn't work with that firmware? What the hell... What's written on your phone's case? There is a model mark on the housing, after you remove back panel. I have E988 (Open TW variant), markings say E988/E989. In the end, ask your friend where he/she got it, that may help identifying it...

He sends me the box also, is in my house now, I'm working at the moment, he got the phone in a normal store, is 100% original, let me check the model inside of the phone.
EDIT: its says "E980_0805"

This may be risky, but you already flashed F240K firmware and kept your device alive. Have you tried flashing E988 firmwares?

I'm using E988_V10 firmwares for TWN variants, best base for my device, especially since I'm using AOSP/CM roms

Weird, E988 is basically international one, should work everywhere. Check preferred network type in network settings.

Yes, works but only GSM, no WCDMA and 4g, but I flashed the argentinian modem and i get a low WCDMA, is like the signal is very low in that rom, but not 4G or GSM.
Yes, I checked the preferred network in #*#*4636#*#*# and only works with WCDMA also tried the change the band in that menu but was useless, signal drops and 3G isn't working. Also tried in the options of the phone and the same result.
Tried the 3845#*988#* for configurate baseband and no luck. :l this is real a good problem, but I can confirm, the E988 at least works the argentinian modem with WCDMA but signal drops fast.

Have you tried to download your firmware from lg website?
Try to Google it. There might be tutorials telling you how to do this using your imei number. Then, you'll find the correct firmware.
Remember, you should use an LG website link to be secure in the use of your imei.
Edit: try that link
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=<MYIMEI>
Note that you have to substitute MYIMEI for your imei. I'm not sure if you have to keep the brackets. So try both possibilities and see which works.
Edit 2: now I remembered all the steps.
Once you insert the imei without brackets you will have info on your firmware. Notice that in the central area of the page you have a link that ends in .kdz
Copy that link and insert it in your browser's address bar. That will prompt you to download your correct firmware.
That firmware will most likely be E98120X... Or the KK version...
After downloading it, change the 20 in the link for a 10...
Doing this you should be able to download the JB version. This is the most stable version for our devices (the KK version has a bug on the modem that keeps the device awake when it shouldn't).
If you succeed, flash the JB version, the one with the number 10 using the CSE option in the flash tool.
After that, you should be up and running and able to flash any custom rom without the risk of signal drops.
Oh, have in mind that if you want to use 4g you will have signal drops. This is also a bug of our devices. It works best in 3g. Every time you have to reboot, change from 4g to 3g, when signal is back on change again to 4g and you'll have it working with few hiccups...
Don't forget to keep backups of your firmware and report if you succeed.

Good. Now that you know the exact "name" of your rom you can Google the JB version (the one with number 10).
