1080p on youtube - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi...would like to know what resolution does youtube app play when hd is on. Plus is there a way to force the app to play 1080p videos when available.

You won't find any difference between 720p and 1080p due to the resolution on this beast.
Default I think uses 480p.
You can download hacked youtube that can play 720p.

Strange. AVIs (Xvid) play fine on my Nexus through the native Video Player.
Here's a sample file: http://www.multiupload.com/GML7HC3HHM
They dont play native for me but vplayer handles them nicely

@slicktrick22
do you mean video steaming doesn't works ?
I use QQPlayer to stream videos inbuilt media player also works but with gesture features and no extra codecs QQPlayer suites me give it a try
Market : https://market.android.com/details?id=com.tencent.research.drop&hl=en
some mp4 videos with more resolution doesn't support by stock galaxy app.
just download any other video player like MX VIDEO PLAYER OR MOBO PLAYER
IT WILL SUPPORT ALL VIDEO FORMATS LIKE AVI 3GP FLV MP4 OGG ETC.

Some mkv movies require a special type of codec to give audio output (Not every)
Most stock video players don't have it
It earlier used to be in MX player

Your only hope is mx player pro....(It has h/w accelearation and s/w acceleration options). May be hd videos will work.
I dont understand why ppl try to play full hd 1920*1080p videos on a 800*480p display ... which is about 4times smaller resolution .. whats the point of playing a full hd video when the display reso is soo small ... cnt even enjoy the video with its full glory.
Totally pointless
