As the title states, I've not flashed a new rom since back in December when I flashed the Free GS3 rom. From my understanding, there have been various updates since then.
Can I get a few suggestions of some good roms that retain all functionality? I usually base my choice off of thread views but it's slightly offset now with some developers having larger lapses in time between updated roms.
Thanks!

Give Antivenum a run its running smooth. But there are alot of good roms out just read the op and run for a week and decide for yourself

Thank you all! I'll give MOAR a try!
Realy liked MOAR and TPR, but i really like the Team Nocturnal ROM called MSG_Chubbz. It is very smooth and has tons of customizable options built into the ROM that dont require a re flash. Im torn between the three but this one seems my choice at the moment.

FreeGS3 was awesome and MOAR is good. Im currently on Stock MB1 rooted with a custom 5x6 TW Launcher. Loving it. Tried all other roms and i end up on stock every few flashes.
Any TouchWiz ROM retains all original functionality and they all are the best.
If the dev debloats the ROM usually a file is provided to put the stock stuff back.

I think I'm ready to jump back into the ICS pool now that things are a lot more stable from the earlier leaks.
We have such a great development community for this phone that there are just too many flavors out there to try them all. I know I want to stick with TW based ROMs simply because I like the little things TouchWiz adds to the stock Android base.
I'm leaning towards Frankenstein's Ego or Calkulin's 2 because I've had a great experience with both Calk and Team ERA in the past, but I don't want alienate other good ROMs.
So I want to hear from you guys. Out of all of the ICS TW ROMs, which do you prefer as a daily driver? What do you/don't you like about it? Have you personally run into any problems with freezing, rebooting, lagging, etc?
Thanks!

Does Calkulin's newest ROM have TW? I have it, but am not sure how to use it.

It does. I'm not sure if I had a bad install or what but Calkulin's ROM had some issues. The two main ones were, spazzy scrolling and many force closing of apps. When it was working it was crazy smooth though so I'm going to either try again or wait til it's more stable.

TouchWiz is more than just the launcher. It's the framework, too. Anything that isn't AOSP-based is running on the TouchWiz frame, for lack of a better word.

Thank you! I actually just found it as a launcher. Big duh here...;-)
Question, how is it better than GO Launcher? What does it do that is better?
I wouldn't say it is better as it is all based on preference. For me TW is too basic and didn't let me customize my phone the way I wanted to. I loved calks gb based from. But haven't tried his ics. I have been enjoying the blue kuban ics rom. His customer service is elite.

Agat's newest tFE22v0.1.1 would be a great place to start. It is minimally themed and rock solid. What it lacks in bells and whistles it far makes up for in speed and trouble free functionality. I use a modified version of Calc's bare ROM script that cleans out a ton of stuff then I add a few inverted apps. Perfect for me!

Stock slightly modified by me. Once source is out those other roms mentioned in the op will be solid.
I used the CM9 Rom on my Epic and generally enjoyed it. With the SG3, what seems to be the Rom of choice for most to offer and stability?

All the touchwiz rom are stable, the difference between them are themes and features like multi window. 4.2 AOSP roms are a w.I.p imo, but the little bugs can be tolerated.

Like said above, touchwiz is stable but I favor CM10. Awesome ROM. People say AOSP is always buggy, but I can tolerate it. I love cyanogenmod

@OP, we're steering this conversation towards rom types because as your question stands now, its gonna get locked.
I dont yet have this phone, but I love Sense. Sense, sense, sense roms all the way
Especially Sense 4.0+. Beautiful.
MIUI seems kinda bland to me, but AOSP is simple and sweet

it sounds like most people like either CM10 or AOSP. any techies out there able to explain what one has that the other does not? I have used CM for years, but unfamiliar with AOSP. The other thing i liked having for the Epic, was I was able to switch back and forth between the stock rom and CM9 for Sprint updates. Can i still do that with the GS3? I was looking for the Stock Rom to have as a zip but did not find it on the forum. Helps with Sprint updates

CM is an AOSP style rom.

what does CM10 offer that the stock rom does not?
Fo sho its the Rom to have and use is the Chemistry Rom because I have a GS3 fleshed to boost and all my main functions I need all work with this ROM. My mms and my voice mail. And with Ktweaks kernel I am getting some serious battery time on this ROM so its over all the perfect ROM right now to have. And my man Sac is there every step of the way to give support and help with any issues
If you use cm10 or any aosp or aokp rom you lose all the goodies in touchwiz like motion effects.

It gives you a clean, stock android look, theme able, no bloatware, uses less ram. I have heard better battery life but I don't know. It has CM10 tweaks. If you can wait till cm10.1 is stable, it should be pretty awesome.

does anyone know if there is a zip file of the stock 4.1.1. rom out there so that if I do download cm10 rom, i could switch back and forth between CM10.1 and stock rom
Make a backup in recovery. Thats what its there for

Most of the roms in the Dev section are rock solid (minus a few bugs which are normal in almost everything) the only way to figure out which you are going to like is to read the OP of a few that sound interesting, flash and take it for a drive (give a day or two typically) unless you can't stand it. MOAR, TPR, and FAT ASS (Cartman Edition of TPR) are all great TW based roms, offer all the fun of normal TW.. Incredible themeing options via Morphology.
Free GS3 is another great rom (from what i hear) as well. I haven't personally ran this one either, but does work with Morphology for themeing options.
Just scan the dev section. You'll find a good fit.

TN's rom is the best thing around right now in my opinion. Its got all the latest and greatest mods (multi, ink, 8 lock-screens, skip tracks) while keeping the stability of TW.

Well buddy that's a matter of personal preference. Find out what you like your phone to do and find a rom that suit your needs. Unfortunately you won't get a definitive answer on this subject. Trial and error until you find what you like.

I tried Jedi and CleanROM in that order and found that they are both similar in real-world performance but it's so hard to tell when you have a quad-core powered device that doesn't have trouble running Android smoothly.
I prefer CleanROM over Jedi only because I like to keep TouchWiz the way it is and not have excessive modifications that bring down the shipped Samsung interface experience.
Many people here like change though. So if you're one of those guys who like to change the look and feel of TouchWiz, then Jedi is obviously for you.
I haven't had to leave the force at all...it's perfect, never had a better rom on my android device ever.imo
I've tried every TW ROM available and nothing is nearly as smooth as JediX. Absolutely fastest and smoothest ROM I have ever used

I've been using both Clean Rom and NoveIIa, but Novella more so recently because of the customizations similar to CM10. Even though NoveIIa is still in the beta stage its fit for everyday usage. I go back on forth because Clean Rom is always being updated. Oh and I'm a damn flash fanatic.
NoveIIa is here just in case you want to try.

SKYNOTE v7 is amazing
I tried cleanROM very good, but too stockish for me. JediX had weird issues for me in regards to phone network setup, but looks great too.
I am extremely happy with SKYNOTE, cool look, a little AOSP style sort of, very smooth, and best battery life. Great themes in his thread too, nice Blue theme, and other themes straight from him, all works like butter

I came over to the Note 3 after having a S3 for a few months. Day one I got my s3 i put on the Team Sonic-FreeGS3 and it was a great rom. It based off the stock rom and used the stock kernel. Just had some good mods done to it.
I now have had my note 2 for two months but I still have not found a good rom that I like. Anyone know of a good room that keeps most of the stock stuff?
Im looking to try out digiblur rom as it just about what Im looking for. Just need to add a few apks back into the rom before flashing it.

I would totally urge you to give Whompasaurus a shot. I cannot say enough good things about how quickly the dev's have worked to fix problems and support users on their thread. Best and only ROM I run!
The only negative I have to say about it is that you will not want to ever try another ROM again after using it.
The ROM has the option of installing with Perseus Kernel or the Stock Kernel.
Venum STS is stock odexed..doesn't get any more stock than that.

Hello,
My friend just got the galaxy s3 for sprint and he asked me to install him a nice rom, similar to my phone. Im from tmobile so I am not familiar with the sprint gs3 roms. I want a rom that uses Touchwiz, deoxed, and not too many bloat ware. On the tmobile forums we have Wicked by Deviant Development, is there anything similar to it? Thanks
Search in android development...all of those are "not original" roms, so mainly based on TW
I would recommend freezas simple stock rooted rom
No idea what wicked is but these are good ROMs.

I can ENTHUSIASTICALLY recommend The People's ROM....It has many very useful tweaks like the app killer by holding the menu button and the multi-view by holding the back button.
It also works flawlessly. I would suggest using the stock Kernel as me and a few others had excessive battery drain using KTOONZ kernel.
The developer, Kenny, is very active here and is very quick to address any problems that may arise. He is a top notch developer and I trust his work. I have been flashing ROMs for years and if I were putting it on a friends phone I wouldn't look at anything else.
Your friend will thank you for hooking him up with this ROM.
I get all my roms from galaxys3root.com. it has all carriers and direct downloads for the which ever carrier you need. I recomend reading the comments though, not all roms are stable.
