Flashed and now have no SIM detected - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Help!
I was rooted 4.1.1 and flashed latest 4.1.2 Czech stock ROM via Mobile ODIN. Everything seemed to went fine except, wifi seems to work, but I have no SIM detected. I tried pulling the battery out but no go. What went wrong?
Any help appreciated!!!
D.

Did you try to pull SIM out? Use different SIM to test.
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda app-developers app

I didn't since it is pretty hard to take it out being micro SIM, and I have no other micro SIM to test (only normal sized mini SIM). I didn't open the phone or done anything to the SIM so I have no reason to suspect it being moved or such. Probably something to do with EFS folder from what I read.
When I dial *#06# it says nul/nul (should display IMEI).
PLZ Help!!!!

Did you make a nandroid backup before flashing??

Does your sim card come out when you pull the battery?

Nope, I don't have custom recovery because of triangle !#[email protected]!
I noticed another thing, it reports Baseband: unknown

I've had the same thing, flashed new custom recovery version and ended up with broken sim-card...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2161590
We just went to a service center of our telecom operator to change the sim-card and the new one works fine.
I tested the original if it could be broken by using another sim-card, just to be sure, but it was true what i expected
How can flashing software affect the sim-card that seems hardware to me...?
Is there any possibility that the sim-card gets wiped or something?

No, it doesn't seem to be SIM card - I can't try another card in my Note II because it is the only phone I have with MICRO card. But my card from Note II works just fine in old Sony-Ericsson....
BTW, took the SIM card out and back and still no go. It has no BASEBAND.
I wonder... when I bought the phone, it's 1st language was GERMAN. It could be german import. It wasn't CZECH. Now I've flashed Czech ROM. Could that have any impact?

Managed to "repair" it. Just flashed the SAME ROM with Odin from PC, and my IMEI reappeared.... HAPPY!!!
Thanx 4 help!

Make efs backup.

Will have to Thanx! Lost my root now, but important that it works

I just reinstalled the stock firmware but no chance, no signal at all...that's weird!!!

I've a E975 version and last week I pick up my phone and it was with no signal, reboot and nothing happen, went to a store and my SIM card was ok and a different network SIM card was not working too. The phone was not able to "read" the PIN code (my SIM card PIN is disabled).
I've flashed the ROM again (Savyrom) and I had a subsystem crash and afterwards kernel crash's, the stock ROM backup and kdz installation have not helped either.
Now I've sent it to LG support service because after a factory reset i've lost my IMEI and the phone was rebooting 30s after starting up and I was not in a mood to try to restore the Freegee IMEI backup.
Do you have the IMEI number?

My advice is to send the phone to LG support, maybe you have a SIM card hardware problem... At least you don't have system crash's and reboots like me.
I was with IMEI too I'm almost 100% sure that a lost it after the hard reset.

Hummmm...that's not a hardware problem because the phone recognize the sim card (sim serial number, sim state is ''Ready'', sim country ISO: Ca)
I surely think it's related to the EFS partition but I got the IMEI...that's weird
And I can't send him to LG support because the warranty is over...

Galaxy s3 t999 wont read sim card after unlocking

I need help with my s3 from tmobile, i unlocked it using one of the guides on this forum, had to go from 4.2.1 to 4.1.1,(*#197328640#) then when i went back to 4.2.1 it would not register network(still using tmobile sim card) went to update and got the 4.3 and now it says insert sim card when i go to mobile network, I already check imei number and its the same as in the sticker on the back of the phone, the sim card works on my other phone so I would appreciate any help
Perhaps dirty Contacts. Wipe the contact with a spirit wipe. While wet, insert into the slot and eject immediately and wipe second time.

If that doesn't work you might want to try a different known working SIM. be mindful of static discharges carpet for example.

[HELP] Sudden problem with both SIM Cards not being recognized on any ROM

Good day! I just want to ask if anyone has an idea of how to solve a weird and sudden problem that happened to my phone a few days ago.
I was running Cyanogenmod R16 with Xcelerate kernel.
I use two SIM cards on my phone, but I do not use the first slot all the time, so when I'm not using it, I regularly disable it through the SIM card settings, and enable it only when I need it.
What happened is, when I tried to enable it, suddenly both my SIM card slots could not be recognized (The SIM card settings could not be accessed; and error says: "SIM card info not available. Menu cannot be accessed"). In the lockscreen, it says: "INVALID CARD." for both SIMs.
I tried both restoring a backup and going back to stock MIUI, but still, the problem was there; none of the SIMs could be recognized (I tried using other SIM cards too.)
My IMEI's for both SIM slots are fine.
I've looked up on other forums, but I haven't found any others with a similar problem on the Redmi 1S.
If anyone knows what I need to do to fix this, I need your help. Thank you very much.
Have you tried both sim in other phone..?
If yes,and both working then should be problem with your imei!

Yes, I've tried both SIM's on another phone, and they work fine.
Since my phone still shows both IMEI's when I look for it, I assumed that there's no problem with them. What are possible problems that concern IMEI's? So that I can look up on general IMEI problems.
Thank you very much!

Thanks for the reference. Backed up my IMEI and Restored it right after, but still no change. Still, thanks!
EDIT: I've already tried two newly bought SIM cards, and the problem is still present.
Was this solved? Happening to me right now..
Happening to me too... Unsolved
For me just blowing in the sim slot & reboot fixed after few times..
if you have TWRP backup your modem & efs partition, just restore it via twrp. it worked for me
Hello,
I have a similar problem.
SIM2 is not recognized at all. I can use SIM1 only.
Tried to switch the SIM cards and still SIM2 is not recognized.
Both SIM cards are working great on other phones.
Is it OS related issue?
I've got same problem. Try to clean the sim metal contacts carefully and gently with an alcohol and qtip or tissue. It solved my problem.

Sim card(1) "Sim card not detected"

hi
I have a very annoying problem whit the sim slot 1 (i currently test the slot 2)
Very often, the phone tell me "Sim card not detected", and i have to open the phone, dismount the card and put in again.. until the next time.. like i said, it's occurs very often, 10-15 a day..
Even when the phone is on the table without touching it..
I have rooting it and thats it.. 2.19.40.22
I would like to know if someone have similar problems before i try to reflash whit older stock rom??!
It happened to me briefly- After flashing my first full back -up back to the fone --then i did a factory reset and this fixed the sim slot problem

Hi, I think i have the same problem after testing the Cyanogen build for ZE551ML. Have you did a factory reset from recovery (wipe data, cache and dalvik) or a full stock rom flash ?
Thanks
Above, I was referring to the full 5gb asus ROM back up I made immediately after unlocking bootloader installing twrp and rooting, I installed svn ROM and backed that up too..stripped svn ROM further..backed that up too. Then went about trying my Asus full original...sim 2 was only detected..so did a factory reset and sim came back.
To get sim recognised in CM,I had to wipe usual..install..set up...and factory reset it...hope that clears it up a bit lol

Guys can you check your sim holder lock . I mean when you put the sim in holder check if it is properly fitted. Issue is some SIM cards are thinner than normal and sim holder unable to grip it. I faced same issue.
Also recommend using ASUS ZenUI app called ASUS Support. There are several helpful tips with basic troubleshooting techniques for your device including including SIM card troubleshooting. Please go to Apps/ASUS Support/Assistance/SIM Card/Sim card not detected

Sim Card not detected
Hey guys,
I am having a similar issue. I have 2 Sims, AT&T and GCI (local carrier). AT&T Sim works in both Slot 1 & 2, and GCI Sim works in slot 2 only. The AT&T sim is a standard MicroSim and the GCI sim is a Tri-Cut sim, so basically a NanoSim in a Micro Adapter.
Sometimes when the GCI Sim is in slot 1, it will recognize for a couple seconds then go gray..

I subscribe to the "theory" that some SIM cards are thinner than others and they drop out of slot 1.
In fact, I have 3 SIM cards and they range in thickness by around 0.5mm according to my cheap chinese mircometer. I don't believe that it is coincidence that the thinner ones lose SIM detection more than the thicker ones.
Also it is no coincidence that slot 2 doesn't lose detection becuase the SIMs don't slide upwards out of slot 2, but they do slide downwards out of slot 1.
Do this experiment: Put a SIM in each slot, now place a 3rd SIM in the space between the two. You will notice that it sits easily in the gap between the two installed SIMs with a bit of free play. Put the back cover back on and use the phone normally for a while (a day or two). Now take off the phone back and tip the phone over, does the "third" SIM fall on the floor, or has it been gripped by the SIM in slot 1 as it has gradually slid out of its slot?
Since I put one layer of sellotape on the back of all my SIMs, I have not had one single "SIM not installed" message. I used to get them all the time, especially with one of the thinner SIMs in slot 1 and above all when using the phone in the car (the fully vertical position and the vibrations seemed to have accelerated the SIM slipping out of its slot).
By the way, I never had the SIM slide completely out, but they certainly are not gripped sufficiently in place and slip enough to disconnect.
I had same "sim card 1 not detected" issue.
It worked back when i did soft reboot,.
And no more issue after factory reset
Re @ leftrand earlier on page 1.....
Sorry not been here in a while , but I think this was related to an earlier twrp we used , fixed with the later one I think. So it was a matter of restoring full original bk up,then factory reset then set up again and do another bk up. Keeping original bk up just in case . That was a while back now and should be fixed
facing same problem... only after updating ota. always.. sim 1 is not detected...

That no way to have a sim 1 working thru TWRP back up after flashing the CM13. What I did was doing a clean flash with SuperZen - 2.20.40.156 Full.
The problem was solve. then I flash back my back up TWRP. The phone now work like a charm.

I got it fixed bro! the phone does not like the Nano sim cards in the adapter. I happend to find an old GCI micro sim and had them activate it. works great now.
ok i found a solution. i read a earlier reply saying you cannot assess sim 1 whilst using a recovery back up flashed. i was currently using cm13 nightlys and this morning i flashed paranoid 5.1 or so.... i wanted to go back and compare the two but what i did was restore it from a backup.... so what you should do is when wanting to change roms, KEEP THE ZIP FILES THAT YOU USE TO FLASH THE ROMS WITH!!!!!!!!!!!! im still asking you to back up roms (preferably system before you flash) just so you dont hard brick it.
bottom line is back up rom, but keep zip files for when you want to change between roms. hope i can help
I have this problem, compounded by the fact that it seems all Android 6.0 (or possibly all CM based ROMs for the ZenFone?) have an issue where losing cell signal in a dead zone permanently breaks the radio until the device is rebooted. Even if the SIM is recognized, after going through a no signal area, the signal never gets acquired again and the SIM information lines remain blank or unknown. Trying to refresh the networks or providers list throws an error toast.

No Network Sim card

Hi, I buyed the One Plus 3, but when it arrived i see that it need an nano Sim card, proceed to cut my old card and insert on OP3, the card don't show network signal, i thinked it was from being cut, so i proceed to buy a new card, i inserted the new card and nothing no signal, it detects the carrier ID but never get's network signal, if i manualy search networks it don't any carrier, I Tried with anothers Sim cards and no one can't get signal on OP3.
All the cards are working on my before One Plus One, i tried factory reset, i contacted the provider and the problem is not with the sim card.
Is there anyway to share the modem or something like that so i can fix this?, i even try twrp recovery, and flash the original Oxygen Signed zip.
Thats really strange ! Did you try putting the SIM in Slot-2 as well ?
