MA7 battery life? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

I've noticed since moving to ma7 my battery life has gotten bad. Before ma7 by the end of the day I might be at 60%. Now I'm ending the day around 20%. Doesn't really matter what rom or kernel I'm running. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?

are you building from aosp? maguro? apps? wakelocks (although it don't seem wakelocks are the cause)?
I have the same issue. Not getting anything beyond 5~6 hours. I am on pretty much stock everything. 3G disabled/Data disabled. I am using the standard apps.

And also my, cell stand by is always between 5-10%. Is that normal? Do i still need to do this flash? Thank You
1. No not at all just a visual fix.
2. Yes that is fine.
3. Only if you think it looks wrong or really high mine was over 20% most of the time til I flashed this now I'm at 2%
It does not extend your battery life, flashing it is just a cosmetic fix.
Your battery will last the same amount with or without it.
If you are in CM10, I think it is fixed already.
Thanks..

Battery life improvement

Anyone notice battery life improvement today after the maps update? It seems my phone lasted quite a bit longer than usual today. Just curious if I'm the only one. I'm running Cm10 by the way.

Check your battery consumption under Settings -> Battery.

My battery is extrodinary today as well, not sure if it's related. I did just install autostarts though as well to stop maps and other things from auto booting, if it is that app, it's working better then I ever would have dreamed.

Not sure but mine seems to be better too. Hard to tell though since I've only been using my GS3 for a few days now.

I've noticed the improvement. I've read that there was a glitch causing Maps to keep the phone awake that was fixed with that update.

Edit: Oh I thought you meant the OTA update..
I have my maps at stock because the updates are buggy and keep it running in the background :/

Is your battery going quick too?

I was on Blazer GB a long time ago getting great battery life.[1 day]
After flashing all Cyanogen Mod builds for ICS and JB then to Paranoid Android. I have been getting bad battery.
I'm not blaming CM or PA .
Is anyone else getting bad battery life too?
I just flashed a nightly build for CM (12/25 to be exact). Its as bad as the rest after GB.

That is main reason why I stay with GB rom. I'll flashed every single IcS rom and JB rom. At end the day I'll be back with GB rom mainly Caulklin rom

I don't want to go back to GB, although I know its best for me...lol
I'm used to the JB making it simple.

Is your battery swollen? Take it out and spin it on a table on both sides. If it spins like a top its bad.

Sometimes it takes a few cycles to get the battery back into the mood.... Er I mean to display charging % properly.... After flash abuse battery is tends to report false %'s. And no its nothing to do with battery stat calibration.

I used ICS from August to December. The eye candy was nice, and the speed was enjoyable. It felt good to run the latest and greatest.
But the battery life was killing me. I have two batteries, a generic Chinese battery and a bloated OEM battery.
I would go 8 hours a day without even touching my phone, and the battery would be at 20 percent, or even dead. With the bloated battery , max was 3 hours.
I had to go back to gingerbread. Installed calkulins on December 3rd, and Juice defender.
Now I get 10+ hours with my Chinese battery, and 8+ hours with the bloated battery.

Good point! You should definitely take a look to see if the battery is swollen, it is an indicator that the cells are imploding which results in terrible battery life.
I've been hearing a lot of people having problems with their phone turning off right after the boot animation. After the boot animation, the screen flickers and the phone turns off. You will have to plug your phone in to your charger and then turn it back on for your phone to boot up. This is due to your battery going bad. Take it to the nearest Sprint store and they will replace it for free if you have insurance.
Battery is swollen 2 out of 4. 3 are ebay cheap OEM generic LOOKING, but 1 works. Then I have the Sprint offered extended battery works fine.
It has to be that. Some ROMS are killing battery quick too. I use KMS app to kill media server temporarily then it goes back on after a while maybe after 2 hours. But after I've underclocked 200/800 Pegasusq, noop i/o, I've had better life. Not excellent.

Leaked stock TW FL16 doubled my battery life from snipers latest PA 2.5.6. Main difference? Less time "awake" in battery stats. I switched back to stock ICS under same conditions (apps, gps, Wi-Fi on even when not connected) and the leaked stock TW FL 16 was still better. "Android OS" and "Android system" dropped to 4th and 5th on battery consumption percentages. Can't freakin wait till the AWESOME developers that support this device get source code. Then we'll see good battery life again. Maybe not GB good, but better than lately.

I'm going to try that modem, or try flashing the kernel on my PA. Might not work, but I gotta try.

Extreme battery drain

I can only use my phone for around 5hours on time until she dies. This is super annoying because of school it dies before lunch :/. Have flashed many different ROMs, tried different radios, one or two ROMs seemed to fix this but don't remember which ones did . Phone dies 1% every 3 minutes it feels, this is retarded is there any known issues with that or fixes? Sticking with juice defender till I find a better option

do you leave your mobile data on?
also what is your cpu settings?
what rom and kernel you running
and take screenshot of battery usage page and post please
I always leave data on, yes. ROM: Jedi jelly 4, I believe that its insecure kernel because idk any other tw jb kernels. Also on the lb7 blaze radio but I constantly switch those up when I get frustrated with battery. Screenshot may not be accurate because I just flashed at like 430 today, so battery was at like 78% ish on last charge which was around an hour and a half ago. CPU settings are untouched atm

Download GSam battery monitor to find out what is draining your battery. Then we can look at assisting you in fixing it.

Read my reply to the post here. It's an optional and known way of saving battery life for almost any Android phone and help prevent any overheating that you may experience with the phone.
Is your GPS on all the time? Account sync? Settings and data backup? Auto brightness or manual?
Always let the phone drain to 10% or less then fully charge it uninterruped, meaning dont unplug it.
CPU management always helps, especially with screen off. Also use wifi instead of data if avail at school or anywhere else for that matter

I'm betting its the battery. Place it on a flat surface. If it doesn't lay flat and it has a bulge that causes it to bounce around, your batteries screwed.

Got gsam, have ran it for a day. 100% at 6:00 am, 31% at 3:57 pm. This normal ? I flashed back to stock koodo everything , so is this just the quality of the phone? Yes, GPS is always on. Data is normally left on, although I do turn off WiFi from time to time. I used to have a nexus s and the battery would last for days, yet it's smaller and I never had to turn off things. I even get battery drain like this on cm based ROMs ?!

I went from Jedi Knight 6 to Jedi Jelly 4 two days ago and the Rom is super fast and snappy. Very little lag and no issues with fc so far. I do have a little bit of a battery issue myself. When I use the phone for anything I can sit there for an hour and watch the phone dip to below 80% after a full charge. It seems to eat battery when in use but overnight I get almost 14 hours of left untouched. I would like to get at least 8 hours with medium to heavy use. Is that a reasonable number? I have gone through three battery cycles so far.

Actually we are already discussing battery drain in this thread, so the previous poster did exactly what he should have. We don't want multiple threads for one topic.
Regarding your stats.. That's not too bad, but it's hard to say without seeing screen time, app usage, etc.

For anyone requesting input on battery life, please post screenshots of your battery screens as well as screen time. Also post a screenshot of the app sucker list in GSam battery monitor. It's impossible to say what's going on without seeing anything that's using your battery.
