Well it looks like the Merge 4.0 is not very hot. It has gotten few hits and even fewer downloads. I am thinking that yall dont want a Sense 3.0 rom. So how about a worked over Sense 3.5? Give it all the love that The Team With No Name gives all their roms so you have the smoothest and fastest that can be offered.
So give me your thoughts and lets see what greatness we can come up with.
Peace,
Love, and
Happiness
As you know brother, things arent like they were 7 months to a year ago when things were hoppin',we only have a handful of people(members, not devs)running around here in the forum and most are little brothers that just got a hand-me-down phone from big brother,we as devs are pushing out the roms thats for sure and from what i hear, the ole OG is getting 70% of the action on XDA as far as rom developing goes,so thats great, but we cant expext a million hits witin a couple days or even months, its just simply dead as far as members go,just sayin'.Everyones upgrading.4 Kornerz Ultimate will be my last rom for the EVO,just going out in style.
I've only been around for a couple of months but i love being able to customize my phone. I stumbled upon this messing around with my old/new hero (running 4.1.2!! used as a droid-pod) and immediately got a evo 4g. I have about 30 nandroids of roms currently running dirty diablo, which rocks. Knowing i have all functions using gb roms, i use jb/ics as dd's and just to show off to my buddies that have s3's. I have downloaded Merge 4 and in the process of wiping now. I appreciate all the hard work "both" of yall do.
which device you headed to next?
I am wanting another cdma htc just not sure which one. Mostly depends on price of used one with bad esn and development.
As far as hits yes I know there are fewer and fewer users every day but Dirty Diablo has taken off pretty good so far. I have almost 50 dl for the newest upload already compared to the 1 on Merge 4.0. I have to at least get my 4g gingerbread miui out along with the new Jelly MIUI JLM First Edition before I can even think about calling a halt to my evo.
Oh, off subject again but whats going on with the Aamikams 2.1/3.0 i saw? That looks great?

Well thanks glad you like it. It was one of my first roms I flashed back in '11. I was not too bad back then either except all the launcher redraws any time you opened any app or another screen besides the launcher it would redraw. That got old real quick but thankfully you wont have that problem. Plus you should get pretty good battery life with that rom. I was tweaked to give you the best battery life and still be fast as possible.
Diablo since it was brought up what about the other nands you wanted to turn into roms. I should be able to turn around about 2 of those a day now that I got the procedures down. You can go out with both guns blazing! Ultimate 4kornerz and Dirty Diablo are not a bad exit plan either if you want to go out that way.

I see quite a few of the OG peeps in the SG3 forums.
You guys still keep popping out rom after rom for the EVO keeping it alive and going.
So hope you guys make it to my side. Because I would definitely flash one of your roms on my SG.
Keep up the good work bros. :good:
I have been thinking about getting another phone but not sure what I want. Since I use cricket it has to be a cdma phone which makes them cheaper on ebay. Bad ESN good price break for me. Who know where I will end up. I kind of like the hTC phones. Something about the sense launcher just keeps bringing me back. Plus if I get another htc phone I can have another shot and merging the sense launcher into miui. I was very close to having it done on the 3vo and then I broke up with my girlfriend who I had bought it for.
I can't keep up with all the Roms here its great to have so many options unlike some other older devices.

I was running Energy rom. I actually had 2 sensations mine and my wife's, I took hers to play with when I sold mine to get the GS2 ,she went with mt4g slide and I'm about to sell the other one to a friend of mine who needs a phone bad. So that will leave me with just this phone ....not that its a bad thing just thought we would have a little more variety. Sensation was locked and that set it back for a while but once it was cracked it seemed like devs flocked to it. Maybe that will change once ics is up and running. But the guys that are here are doing a great job as there is some good available Roms. Trust me I'm not complaining cause I wish I could do what y'all do and I plan to in the future once life allows me the time

Hi, So as many of you have heard/read, it looks like the GS2 will be getting ICS soon (possibly in a couple of weeks). That version will probably by 4.0.3 or .4 My question is where is the nexus update? At this rate the GS2 will have a better version of ICS.
I am day one Nexus purchaser. I have owned the G1, N One, Nexus S, And Now GN.
But out of all the phones I have bought, this phone is by far the worst experience. Frankly its because of all the things google said would be fixed with ICS and the fact that the other phones did not have glaring issues at launch. The browser lags, battery life is just OK, this app switch button lags really badly (yes 1-3 sec is bad Lag in this case) and so on and so on.
It bugs me that 4.0.3 and .4 fix this and the GS2 might have it before, but we haven't gotten it yet. I feel like I am using beta software cause there are so many things that need to be fixed in 4.0.2.
I never recall Apple releasing a software this messed up. And they usually have updates out relatively quick. Also Do not tell me to flash some rom, I do not feel comfortable doing so with a $600 phone nor should I be fixing the problems with this device.
I just feel like google needs to come out and say when they will update their phones. Give a timeline and if it needs to take longer to finish, then there is nothing you can do about it, but do not release software that has some glaring issues with it. Trust me if the nexus release in January as opposed to NOV-DEC. I think almost everyone would have still bought it.
Thats the end of my rant
Thanks!
P.S. I am ready for any and all flaming.
The SGS2's ICS will blow, it will be the same old TW garbage. Most of the leaked alphas/betas have been 4.0.3 fwiw. Each of them had pretty large issues of their own and if the final release is bug free I'll be really, really....really shocked.
I heard it was coming out tomorrow, since I already have 4.0.4 I won't get the update to share though. You know why Apple doesn't have to update so much? When they release, it's already outdated hardware and software (but it's thoroughly tested).
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
if you want 4.0.3 download a custom ROM. You buy a 'developer' phone then complain that it has issues... The Galaxy Nexus will be updated in due time.
Being a custom ROM is always nicer than stock especially since our phones only run AOSP. Anything added over what Google only makes our device better.
Didn't we just have this thread? *eyeroll*
If the best thing you can find to troll about is the fact that the S2 is *finally* getting ICS when us Gnex owners have had it since last November, and the S2 *might possibly* have a newer version for a few weeks, after which you probably won't see even bug fix updates for six months or more... I think you're scraping the bottom of the barrel, mate.

Touchwiz + ICS is a ugly experience. At least on the leak builds I've used on my Epic 4g Touch. Plus what Samsung does and what Google does is too different things.
Your talking about a phone that been out for almost 2 years n comparing it to a phone that only been out since Nov of last year. The GS2 deserves it update since its been on the market longer .
Like I said Touchwiz just don't look right on ICS. Matter of fact any skin don't look right on ICS

Yea because 4.0.3 is made by "some dude". If he is unable or too afraid to flash 4.0.3 then he can wait until Google officially releases it as OTA. 4.0.3 is available for flashing, if he chooses not to flash it then I don't want to hear any complaining.

I went from 4.0.2 to 4.0.4. Back to 4.0.3 we are still winning

Coming from an SGS2 I can tell you the only thing which is good on this phone is the 720p screen, but it can't playback 720p movies.
The camera of the s2 was much better but I don't take a lot of pictures so I don't care.
And I don't know why but this phone lags a lot, but it doesn't have freezes nor random reboots
And last but not least, battery life was excellent on the SGSII, I could easily make it through a day, the battery life of the GN is much worse!
So please think twice before saying the SGSII is a joke because at some points it is even superior to the Galaxy Nexus! But I love this 720p screen so much that's why I keep it!
Does the numerical value of the OS you're using really mean that much to you? What major features are you desperately missing in going from .2 to .3? If someone repackaged a 4.0.2 update and renamed it 4.0.5, I guarantee you wouldn't know the difference. In fact you would probably brag how much smoother and more battery efficient it is.

The Galaxy Nexus isn't a 'developer' phone, that's exactly why you put developer in quotes. Technically it might have been made with developers in mind but you can buy a Galaxy Nexus in a brick and mortar store right alongside every other Android device with no special membership, card or secret handshake required. So the Galaxy Nexus cannot be forgiven any faults because it's a developer phone - I didn't get this thing for free at Google I/O did I?
Anyway, I agree with the OP so much. Even though the main reason I sold my SGS2 was to get ICS, I don't really care if the SGS2 is getting ICS 3 months later. I just want my Nexus to get OTA updates when they are supposed to be out, I don't want to be discriminated because I bought my phone in country X or from carrier Y and be stuck in the past while more special Nexus' are getting updates.

Why? You can't handle someone not sharing your opinion on a device and then sharing those views online?
We aren't slaves to these corporations. We don't sell a device we own at a loss, pick up a new device, find out it's not exactly as advertised so then we can go back tail between our legs. We pay good money and we have the right to be critical.

Hey guys I'm completely stumped on what my baseband is because it's NOT any of this -32 or 62 or 64 stuff that I see everyone talking about and I was curious about getting a stable ICS on my R800x. Sad thing is almost nothing seems to be compatible with my phone and my current ROM. (R800x with UK ROM) I love the UK rom but there seems to be nothing for it or something that is wrong that's not letting me really upgrade to anything. I see the requirements for everything now is requiring baseband 4.0 something something and I don't have any of this.
So I would like to know how to upgrade this phone to the CORRECT stats to get my phone MAXED out. I'm such a noob to this stuff and I have searched this forum again and again and alot of this stuff is still complicating for me so please bear with me. Hello Squall429.
Those basebands are for GSM users (R800i/a/at).
The most stable ICS ROM for R800x is CyanogenMod 9 by paxChristos, as it has very little problems at this state.
It requires you to unlock your bootloader, which can be done from this site, with a fee of $24.
I have my bootloader already unlocked. And why this version of the phone so neglected? Is it due to it being CDMA?

The fact that it is the only version of the Xperia Play that is a CDMA is more of a contributing factor, rather than the full reason. Most of the developers for the Xperia Play are from outside the United States, and a vast majority of them do not have CDMA networks. In fact, Verizon Wireless is the only carrier (official) that has the R800x.
The reason why CDMA has such a problem, aside from lack of developers, is the fact that the R800x technically isn't allowed to be unlocked. Sony originally unlocked them, but Verizon threw a fit, so now we can't unlock without going through a backdoor method. As such, people such as the FXP team, which does the CyanogenMod ports, don't really want to touch the R800x. At least, that's what they say.
Most of the reason why the CDMA isn't developed for, really, is a lack of demand. It's not that we're not demanding, but the fact that we are a small group, compared to the other versions of the R800 series. Thankfully, we have people like paxChristos and agraceful developing/porting for us, as well as a number of foreign developers, like KeiranFTW and DooMLoRD, that try to help port things for our phones, even though they don't have the CDMA version.
So there you go, and thanks to the developers who pity us.

Well then I dunno if I have a defective battery or not but my battery barely lasts a day until I have to charge it. I have the R800x UK Firmware ROM because Verizon's stock ROM is crap for me. 5 screens, horrible widgets and dumbed down version of other ones. It's so limited than the UK.
Got any tips for my battery to last as long as these people says theres do? 5 days on a charge with moderate to heavy use?

I do moderate gaming (2-3 hours total), with WiFi on 75% of the time grabbing Emails and Texts, while listening to music for 4-5 hours.
I take off the charger at 5:30, and put it on at 9, with about 10% battery left.
I don't think I could ever get 5 days
Try reduceing screen brightness, and use less animations/gaming/video

Anyone who says they are getting 5 days on a charge with ANY use, let alone moderate to heavy use, is blowing smoke out of their arse.

I actually bought a somewhat extended battery on eBay it's a 1780mAh I think with a microchip built in to prevent overcharging and making the battery last longer. Guess I'll see how that goes.
So about this ICS Rom. How is it? Does Video Recording work yet? And what's the best kernel to everything smoother and have good battery life with?
Doomlord
DarkForest
UK Stock
or Verizon Stock?
I have an R800x as well and I want to know if I could flash MIUIv4 and use that as a ROM. I know I'd have to change the kernel, but what else would I have to change to get that to work?

Are you referring to this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661091
After I flash that, I'll be able to use MIUIv4 because its based off of CM9, right?
If so, which kernel should I use?
I was watching a review today of Paranoid Android for the i9300 & it looked amazing! I've been enjoying the new TW ui, much to my surprise, so I've been taking advantage of its many new features, but tablet mode was looking so great on the 4.8 inch screen! I've only ever really tested it much on my old Sensation, but the smaller screen with the lesser resolution made it seem not so ideal. I really think it could take advantage of the beautiful bigger screen of the T999! It's so unique and it would give us a whole new way to use our phone. Does anyone know how to port this to our phone? Maybe someone here is friendly with the Paranoid Roms development team? Any ideas or insight?
PS: I've tried playing around with the dpi without much success . I couldn't seem to get the phone to behave as a tablet like with some other devices, and it didn't seem to be very stable after modifying it...

Oh God yes, lol! I was using the Sensation quite a bit before the gs3 was released because there's a lot of development & it can be a fun device to play with, but it's not worth comparing to the gs3. I'll probably always keep my sensation because I don't like to get rid of any of my phones, and I'm kind of a phone junkie, but it's been on loan to a friend for a few weeks now. The Gs3 will be a huge upgrade if the Sensation is the only phone you've been using.
It probably will get ported I also can't wait I used it on my galaxy nexus and love the Rom, the tablet ui is amazing and makes thin easier IMO

From what I have heard it should be a pretty easy port seeing as it's based off of cm9/10. I 'll probably give it a try tomorrow and upload a test build for you to try out, but im not making any promises because this week is busy for me.
EDIT: what one would you like me to try JB or ICS?

Well, if your asking what I personally would like, then you freakin" rock sir! I suppose if I were to choose which I'd like to see first it would be a cm9 base, simply because odds are it would be the most stable. A jb build would be incredible, but I generally only flash roms that are fully functional & can be used as a daily driver. I'm not the flashaholic I once was mostly because I don't have the time to be. If your able to get it booting & its stable that would be fantastic! I've personally always looked at PA as a rom that's more for something like the Note, but I think the gs3 is just large enough that I want to run with it & reinvent how I use my primary phone. If we get a 100% functional build, I may never look back, but like I said above, I've never really driven it hard before?
I got it booting but I have no signal wifi works though. I'm no dev so maybe someone can help me.
I have no signal cause it made me lose my IMEI
OK so I restored my Nandroid and I have my IMEI back. My IMEI said unknown in phone settings so im guessing that it was just the roms fault not a wiped IMEI? anyway here are some pics and I will upload the build. Root doesn't work as well as pad control but it's a start. Any dev is welcome to take this and use it to try and make it more functional.

Im pretty sure it's because the permissions aren't properly set for the pad.prop among others. I will have a look at the updater script tomorrow.

Wow Bro, that was fast! I know nothing about developing or porting, but I've just been starting to look into a few threads on the 101. It's definitely nothing that I'll pick up overnight, lol! Maybe if you post the build in development someone will work on it with you? I never thought I'd say this, but TW is running so smooth & has so many nice touches on FreeGS3 that I probably won't flash anything until this is running strong or a super stable Jellybean Rom of any flavor drops.

+1! When we get PA stable, that will get me away from FreeGS3 to check it out. Every day that I use FreeGS3 I fall more I think love with Red's tweaked TW build! I would run this on any device, there are alot of great features in TW now, & Red added even more. I love the tablet style apps though, they are so much more funtional. If I could keep a TW base, but get tablet mode for all my apps then that would be the perfect rom for me. I don't think that'll ever happen, so I'll have to run PA for a week once it's finished & see which I prefer.

I see a few things that aren't perfect just looking through the zip. Wont know more until i get it flashed but this shouldn't be too difficult.
I fixed ril. But it broke boot.
Ril paths in build.prop should be
rild.libpath=/system/lib/libril-qc-qmi-1.so
rild.libargs=-d /dev/smd0
But somehow that breaks boot.
OK everybody this thread has gotten way off topic while waiting for our OTA update which is supposed to be "tomorrow" (if you're confused just read a few pages) This thread now is a place for us to joke around, slander Verizon and talk about DIX

I know this just shows the pessimist in me (or what I feel about VZW's track record, because I think it would be more them than HTC), but also from that blog:
"For more background, due to how storage on the HTC Desire HD is partitioned – and the larger size of Android 4.0 – it would require re-partitioning device storage and overwriting user data in order to install this update. While technically advanced users might find this solution acceptable, the majority of customers would not. We also considered ways to reduce the overall size of the software package, but this would impact features and functionality that customers are currently using. Even after installing the update, there were other technical limitations which we felt negatively impacted the user experience."
Is Verizon willing to lose some stupid bundled apps to make sure it can fit on our Dinc2? I imagine they could save plenty of space by not bundling NFL Mobile, etc...
My 2 cents.

Do you have a link to when they said June or July?
The only eta I ever read was August... I don't think we have anything to worry about personally, but only time will tell. I don't really care as long as they release kernel source for at least one of the other variations of the dinc2 that already has official ics. I have given up on sense roms anyways since I switched to ics.

kernel source from oem's is a murky proposition at best....ideally source would be available as soon as an update is out, but htc hides behind their typical (90-120 days after release) window....though (thunderbolt gb update) they have released source on the same day as an update
i have no idea why they pull this, since theres nothing to change/add to the kernel since its already released, but there isnt much to do on our end...short of suing them
so idk

Well for one DesireHD is not the Incredible S/2. Second, it's not about your or me or this site it's about the larger customer base so HTC is acting in best interest of their own company to not release something that could make a lot (more than here, rootz, ac, etc) of people pissed off. Always keep in mind we are the smaller, much smaller, segment of a larger industry.

Also keep on mind that that larger user base usually doesn't know what software version their phone has and they probably think GB is the latest since their phone says up to date if they check under software updates. It's true that we're a smaller segment of a larger group, but we're the ones that keep up with this kind of stuff and actually care about updates on time. Other users could care less as long as their phone gets the job done.

Well Verizon or HTC haven't said anything about the Inc2 since the initial memo. Again going by e DesireHD is wrong since its not the same phone. Verizon or HTC saying "well research and see" would still cause you to be mad. If the IncS got it the Inc2 should be getting it they're identical phones for the most part.
