Hello.
I am trying to install a custom rom on a DHD that has been updated with the latest HTC OTA update.
As I understand, first step should be to downgrade using this guide :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424023
I followed it, and managed to get through every step (Root, and I get the message "your card is now gold".)
And then what ? I am told to reboot on bootloader. The phone takes a very long time reading the img. And the nothing happens.
What should I do now ? My hboot is still 2.00.xxxx,so I guess nothing happened.
I still have my goldcard, how am I supposed to use it before using visionary ?
Edit : and now that AAHK is gone, it would be really great to update this guide for us noobs that will be trying other methods.

Hey
im trying to install another ROM on my device for the first time.
If I understand the tutorial something is to do before:
- downgrade
- goldcard
- root
- new ROM
- yay!
but its hard to downgrade my desire!
who can help me ?
I've tried to update/install PB99IMG.ZIP, but it says "wrong CID". What happens ?!
You need a goldcard, but that method wouldn't work for you anyway.
See here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
Why do you post if your howto wouldnt work for me ?
Now I have a goldcard!
The method I posted will work.
Hi,
But i still cant downgrade coz my system software is higher.. 2.13.707.1.. any idea?
Have you tried to do it yet?
Yes.. i did tried.. but it since to be error..
Hi guys,
I recently got my unbranded and unlocked desire, and as soon as i turned it on and connected to my wifi, the system found an upgrade (to 2.2) which i allowed it to install...
I then realised that this was not very wise if you want to root the phone, so i downgraded back to 2.1., with the 0.80 HBOOT.
I then tried to follow the instructions in the relevant thread to root the phone but when i go into step 1, it gives me the message "remote 43 main version check fail" and i think the update.zip does not get transferred properly.
I go through the rest of the instructions and on step 2, when the update.zip is being verified, it fails the verification and the process ends there...
I have tried with 2 different SD cards and it is the same for both.
Can anybody suggest a solution?
Thanks a lot.
aalex
You need to use unrevoked3 to root, the old method won't work on your phone.
Hey Teppic,
Thanks for your response.
I just re-upgraded in order to repeat the whole process.
Should i just use your downgrade tool and the unrevoked3 to root?
Is there a newbie-proof tutorial for unrevoked3?
Thanks once again
aalex
You didn't need to upgrade again, but yeah - my tool will downgrade you and then you can root with unrevoked3. It's easy, just enable USB debugging and plug your phone in!
Success!!
Thanks very much Teppic! Unrevoked worked and my Desire is now rooted!!!
Cheers!
Hello everyone,
I've the following problem:
(see attached file)
This happens after he's checking the PB99IMG.zip file.
I've the following stuff on my SD card (it's a Goldcard and my device isn't branded):
(see attached file)
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for all answers or possible solutions.
(sorry for my English, I'm from the Netherlands)
Greets,
Edzio
It would help if you also specify what are you trying to do
Well I'm trying to ROOT my HTC Desire. And for that I need HBOOT 0.80 or lower. I have HBOOT 0.92 so I searched what I have to do to get a HBOOT 0.80. And from what I have understood I had to downgrade my device. So I followed the tutorial to do that, but it doesn't work because I says that the update failures and that the main version older is.
So what am I doing wrong?
I followed this tutorial:
mikesouthby.co.uk/2010/08/htc-desire-downgrading-hboot-and-installing-custom-froyo-rom/
And I got stuck at this step:
Press the Volume Up key to begin the downgrade process. Once the downgrade has started wait until all of the steps have completed, your Desire will automatically reboot during this process. It’s important that you do not interrupt the power or turn your phone off whilst the downgrade is talking place
But instead that the downgrade process starts it stops and says:
The main version is older! Update fails!
That is what I am trying to do.
there is a new method now (using unrevoked tool). As far as i know HBOOT version does not matter and its just 1-click and your rooted.
IF the unrEVOked 3.21 method doesn't work for some reason, follow this guide to downgrade (it works for everyone, if it doesn't for you you're doing something wrong)...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
As Eddyos says if you follow the instructions on the link he posted you can't go wrong! I went from Froyo with hboot 93 back to 2.1 using this very method, I then installed a pre rooted Froyo using clockwork recovery to flash it.....If I can do it......;0-)
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Unrevoked 3 program gets stuck at "Waiting for root...”
I have been trying to root my device for last 3 days .I have done enough research and gone through various forms .
Following the guide ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1145035 ) successfully got my device S-OFF using Revolutionary .
In step 2 : according to guide downloaded and tried
“RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.14.405.2_R_Radio_13.45.55.24_3 .35.15.31_release_130814_signed_2”
Got stucked with non-working touchscreen.
Again downloaded and tried “RUU_Buzz_Froyo_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.24.707.1_Radio_13.5 5.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_161113_signed”
Now touchscreen is working but it is showing android 2.2.1 again .So what's the point of downgrading ?
Run Unrevoked and it is unable to gaining root.
It shows :
Running preboot seq….
Waiting for reboot…..
Running root…
Waiting for root…..( I have waited for 20 mints but it keeps saying this)
[ USB debugging is enabled
Usb drivers are installed
Android Bootloader Interface is listed under Android Phone. ]
After all this mind boggling i have reached here :
Android 2.2.1
Revolutionary
BUZZ PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.01.1002
MI CROP-0622
RADIO 3.35.20.10
Should I use different version of unrevoked ? 3.31 ? here..( http://theunlockr.com/2010/09/20/how...evoked-method/ )
But again in guide “androidybloidy” says in step 3 :”Download the test version of unrevoked (here). Let me repeat, DO NOT USE UNREVOKED 3.32 as it will lead to CID errors or to be precise this error
"Validation error, backup CID is missing".”
What to do now ? Do I need to downgrade to 2.1 éclair to use revoked ? Do I need to download Éclair RUU for India ? If “yes” where can I get the download link ? Some forums say I don’t need to if I have already got S-OFF.I am totally lost.
Now I feel like tearing my hair out.
Any ideas ? How can get around it?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I wanted to try the method suggested by “3xeno” on #83
http://joel5121.blogspot.com/2011/06...-tutorial.html
but under “clockwork recovery” the link to “fastboot tool “ redirects to http://htcdev.com/ and there is no tool like “fastboot tool” on that page.Again the download link to “recovery for wildfire”in step 4 is broken.
What should I do ?
Should I follow this ? : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1130044
Is there a way out ?
feel like throwing my HTC out the window:confused:
SOLVED
Finally installed ClockworkMod recovery and Rooted the device.
are you trying to put a custom rom on the phone or just root it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12188132&postcount=15 follow this guide to put a custom recovery on it, follow method 2.
now, if your going to flash a custom rom just do this from your new recovery and your new rom will have been pre rooted. (well, it should be ) if not then im pretty sure that there is a flashable superuser zip that will give you root once you`ve s-offed but i cant remember where i saw it but i think tht would be youe best bet without having to downgrade again.
how did you make it work cause im having the same problem
yeah if you said its working how did you make it work :was it using the non-test version or did u try something else
If you want to de-brand (downgrade Hboot from 1.01.0002 to 1.01.0001), root or flash I have a comprehensive guide to do that
It's in my sig
Hey dude,

I am failry new to rooting and flashing (currently on Leedroid) - I just followed the instructions in the Advanced Hack Tool and it was done within 10 mins. It is all automatic as long as you read the instructions and set everything up porperly.
I've you use this site and follow the steps it will downgrade and root your phone, it is the easyst why.
www.xda-developers.com/android/how-to-root-the-htc-desire-hd/
thanks for the reply but if u see my software version is 3.13.720.2 because of this i am confused. what i need to know is that do i need to downgrade my phone to lower version and then root it? and also a method to downgrade my phone from 3.13 to other lower version.
thanx
Ive you follow the steps the program will automaticly downgrad men
reply
Yeah as the other users said dude,downgrade..use the ace hack kit etc,it doesnt take long and follow it to the letter, wipe your sd card totally not quick format..
serious..to the letter.takes an average of 10-15 minutes, if you dont understand a majority of it,just ask questions along the way,it truly is the easiest way,i cant comment on the htcdev unlock bootloader method, hopefully someone who has used that can help you with it,but id say go down the ace hack way
fairly sure the htcdev way has someone limitations to it..think if you want it perm rooted you have to still do it yourself,as i said though not done it.
(possibility im wrong but if anyone cares to correct me,happy days)
i tried AAHK and my phone downgraded successfully but after i run AAHK again it flashed the radio but when i goes to another step my phone powering on with black screen dont knw wht to do?
