Because the best tool, AAHK, was retired yesterday. You can root by unlocking the bootloader with HTCDEV. Not sure about SIM unlock.

No. Ruu's have been taken down and you will need to downgrade with your build.

I Double checked with HTC ITALY and If I send my phone rooted etc then I will not pass through warranty.. soo I need to restore my DHD back to "stock" with root / radio / eng and all stuff back to original settings (and normal rom again).
From what I gathered my steps would be:
1. flash using the HTC program the original rom from their website
2. use visionary to reroot my phone?
3. One click Radio S-OFF tool to reverse that setting
But I'm kind of getting lost on the actual "steps" or sequence, and I'm worried I might brick my phone, could some one give me an updated guide, or just steps to do so I can do this correctly?
I'm sending it in because the home/menu buttons are broken (they lost all their touch sensibility, even under safe mode so its hw and not software).. ><
(i'm running s-off eng-off + Android Revolution HD 6.3.3 right now)
Thank you for your time.
Running the right RUU might do it.

ah cool so if i just re-install the current ruu for my device it will reset the eng-off s-off stuff and i can mail it like that? i though i would of had to run some tools to re-set those first.
Thanks thekjp. I'll wait for confirmation then do it
After you solve this issue then do let me know .
Thanks

Just got my dhd from the warranty center yesterday.
I've had a eng s-off, root and unofficial rom (last - blackout ics).
Root and s-off have been obtained with a AAHK tool - so were obtaind and s-on + stock rom.

I have read some other posts who tried to run a ruu but apparently they still had unlocked bootloaders. Run an 1.72 ruu and use jkolo tool

I've tried it.
I've sent my phone to the warranty center twice - using AAHK to get stock rom and s-on before it - no problem, the phone was repaired.
All u have to do is to read the instructions first, the process of getting stock & s-on is quite simple - u need to choose a ruu, then choose a CID (if u are going to get s-on) and also confirm u want to get s-on later. That's it.

right guys, i managed to install a custom from through recovery which was the bliss 4.0 rom but it ended up being a bit laggy so i went into hboot mode and installed the 2.2 (1.34) again from the sd card pc10.zip (automatic update) and now it seems that i cannot do anything through rom manager now. I have downloaded an app to check if my device is rooted or not and it says "not rooted".
i am new to this and have followed a few guides to get to where i am and cannot seem to root my device at all. my statistics are:
vision pvt ship s-off
hboot-0.85.0005
microp--425
radio-26.03.02.18.m3
eMMc-boot
oct 11 2010.20:10:38
fastboot
recovery
factory reset
simlock
image rc.
what do i do to get permanent root??
thankyou very much.
Search googl for
"Cyanogen wiki htc g2 root"
Or
"Xda htc vision root"
You will have to relock your bootloader before following either guide

fastboot oem lock
I presume you use the "offical htc unlocked bootloader" to obtain s-off. You dont have true soff as you still have a shipped spl, you will need to relock your bootloader, downgrade then follow the rooting process from the cyanogen or xda wiki

That's not going to work without becoming complicated. Unrevoked-forever only works on the radios that came with either Froyo or Eclair (It was patched when Gingerbread was released), which means that the whole operating system would have to be downgraded because the phone is not S-OFF to flash radios. There is no tool to S-OFF Hboot 2.18 directly.

Easy Ace Root Tool.
I don't have my DHD fully rooted, but anyway.
First you have to unlock your bootloader, find instructions on htcdev.com for it. Then you can flash a stock rom with SU acces, so you'll be rooted. But I recommend you to S-OFF the DHD also, I myself didn't figure out how to do it yet.
Still learning

You can try this tool (aahk2) that is found on a german forum. I got my DHD rooted and S-OFF using this tool only. Just translate the page, read instructions carefully and you are done!
http://www.android-hilfe.de/root-ha...im-unlock-s-off-supercid-custom-recovery.html
AAHK is retired and unsupported. It also can't download the RUUs it needs anymore because the server was taken down. Use at your own risk.
I am fully stock. Now this viper addiction is not letting me live with stock rom. I need to S off, root, and flash the rom.
My query:
If i S-off via temproot method, do i need to root again in order to flash the rom or any mods?
If yes, how do i do that please?
Or just S off is enough to flash the rom?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You don't need to S-OFF to flash roms just have a twrp or philz recoveries and root and flash away....
Actually i don't wish to have my bootloader unlocked by htcdev... Want to keep it locked
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You cant flash a rom without unlocking your boot-loader. S-off is needed only if you want to make any changes to the hboot. So all you need to do to flash a rom is unlock the bootloader, install a custom recovery and then don't forget to take a nandroid backup before installing the new rom.
If i use http://firewater-soff.com/instructions/ method, do i need to unlock bootloader using htc dev?
Also using the temp root or weak sauce method, do i need to root it permenantly again? And then i need to flash a recovery as well?
I am a bit confused in the process...
Dont know which steps to follow and in which order.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
As far as I understood, WeakSauce only works for the Verizon version, which is also the only one that really needs it, since you cannot unlock the bootloader.
Firewater should work even on temproot, but S-OFF won't magically root your phone. If you S-OFF with WeakSauce, then you can manually unlock the bootloader without going to HTCDev, there is a thread here around, very easy to find. After doing this, you can easily flash a custom recovery and perma-root the phone.
Tried looking for threads regarding s off....
I have International m8. I want to S-off, without using htc dev I want to unlock the bootloader and get perm root.
Anybody can help me on this please.

As far as I know, there is no known way of achieving this yet. The only temproot method I am aware of is WeakSauce, which should only work on the USA Verizon phone. However they write that trying it out on other variants of the phone should not do any harm. Go and try with it. I tried it on mine and it failed (application crashed), then I gave up and unlocked it with HTCDev.
If you manage to do this, please come back and tell us how you did, there may be other ways to temproot this phone, but they haven't made it to this forum yet.
WTH...
As i have done S off to M7/One X, i thought it would be easier to follow the steps... but , I am stuck with the drivers.
I uninstalled HTC Sync(firewater instructions)
But, I am not getting the drivers for HTC.
Also, ADB commands arent working for me anymore....ADB DEVICES say NO DEVICE FOUND....
I have Windows 7, and on the same laptop I have SOff my M7 few months back .....
ANY help with the links would be appreciated
