The higher the screen resolution the bigger ram need to render.
For example, Xperia P have 1GB of ram. And my free ram around 400-450mb. But on Xperia Z for example, it have 2GB of ram but user report only have around 900-1000mb free ram.

EVen I have around 200MB mostly. Hoping JB will give better result!
it is normal of cource, especially if you have many apps installed..
on 4.2.2 jb (cm10.1) i ve got 359 ram and i've got 3 pages of apps...(with the pre installed ones)
I've got around 450 max if I clear on CM10. I usually don't have too many apps running. I find Facebook Maps and Fruit ninja bothering especially. But still: free RAM is wasted RAM. Low RAM doesn't slow down performance until it gets critical low levels.

Isn't some of the RAM allocated to the GPU? The Adreno 220 might require more RAM relative to the Mali as doesn't the Mali have its own dedicated RAM?
Just wondering.

Mine also shows 784mb. I think its all that Tmobile bloatware. I hear most of them are installed as part of the system so they are all taking up that RAM. It should be around 830 shouldn't it? if root is available this should be fixed right?

Yes with root it will help bump up ram, but we will not get full access to the advertised 1gb of ram.

784 here too. On a side note, I found something running called "tethering manager" & "wi-fi sharing manager", so maybe they're whats stopping people from tethering freely.

Yes, your correct. Android OS is built to multitask so the system has many different apps running in the background at all times to help certain system apps to loud up immediately etc.

The international and AT&T's Galaxy SII don't have all that crap on their phone. Ours has so much bloatware that's using the RAM that's why we're at 784. If you remove all the crapware that T-mobile put you'll get 837 too.
Mine shows 1.932GB of system storage.

Thanks.

Well, I suppose you can always use a swap file. But honestly, with 1gb of ram on an android phone, (and no memory hogging htc sense or similar), why would you want to?
To get the best of the best

Adding more ram doesn't effect performance, unless there isn't enough ram in the system to begin with and it's fighting to keep up. With this phone, 1gb is way more than enough. Ram that never gets used is wasted ram. Now, if we only had 512mb of ram in this phone, I could see that getting used up.
i used to have RAM problem on the Nexus S (i always ended up with only 60 MB free) and other devices with less than 512 MB
but not with this T989, i've got lots of free RAM, which is perfect

There isn't a need for more ram on the s2... I multitask like crazy and there is still no lag. 1GB is more than enough for phones. But if you wanted more, you would have to find a manufacturer to build a ram card bigger than 1GB and find a way to swap it out for this current one because i'm 100% sure there isn't an extra ram slot

I have no had a problem with insufficient ram.
I have gotten it to 200mb of free space before but thats it.
I'll go ahead and answer your question straight.
No. The Snapdragon (and SoC's in most smartphones) are usually Package-on-Package, which means the RAM chip is soldered directly onto the CPU. It's highly unlikely you would be able to remove and replace the RAM without being destructive to the CPU, or accidentally removing the CPU. Since the CPU is BGA, if the CPU came off, you would have to reball the pads to resolder it to the mainboard.
There is plenty of free ram **** i almost have 512mb free. Also using faux123 kernel

The kernel needs to support it. Honestly I don't see any kernel devs adding swap support with us having 1gb of ram. That is WAY more than enough. Anyone who thinks they need more is still thinking in terms of windows memory management not linux.
Just curious why you feel you need free RAM. That is just wasted.

The OP doesn't need it. He just wanted to know if it was possible. Someone mentioned swap files which is something I haven't heard of since the days of the G1. I'm glad these phone manufacturers are building more than enough RAM into these phones these days. More RAM paired with better memory management makes it difficult, if not impossible, to run into low RAM issues.
[Solved!]
When I first got my N7105. The internal SD card read speed was great
over 50MB/s read speed, Then it dropped to 48MB/s after few days.
Today I ran Antutu benchmark and other SD card tester.
It decreased to 28MB/s read.
The write speed is intact though, around 19-22MB/s from day one till now.
Anyone knows why and how to restore the read speed back to where it should be?

Yeah I will try to edit the build.prop and increase the read ahead if I can't find the cause. This is my last resort.
Because in my experience increase read ahead that much will have negative effect as well. IE read really small files speed will decrease.
read larger files will have speed boost though.
Solved!!!
For god knows why, I uninstalled GTA III and delete it's game package/data.
The internal storage read speed back to over 50MB/s ..
I thought it's really weird :/

Because Android caches apps in the background. More apps installed, more apps cached = lower RAM. Less installed apps, less cached apps = more RAM. Preloading apps in cache equals faster load times for apps, but Android can't know which apps you use mostly so all apps get cached(my opinion is Google apps have higher priority), thus you get lower RAM. Logic would say, uninstall all apps you don't use so only apps you need get preloaded.

Do you use Tasker by any chance.. If no then you should give it a try.. It really helps you to manage majority of things all together.. Like for example: you using SetCPU for profile triggers, same thing can me done with Tasker plus it consumes less ram.. And can use greenify through it.. As it is a plugin of Tasker..
