I've tried the following ROM and I ended up using ArpegGioMod 0.8 with Link2SD now.
SimplyGio 1.3
CyanogenMod 7.1 KANG (RC-3.0)
Cy4noobsMod-7.1.3.1
ArpegGioMod 0.8
I'm using cyan kang RC 3.0, phiexz
little confuse,, However still remembering my former rom, Particle, by hyriand
the former has wifi problem, but the music player n effect was excellent, and also no problem, except mount warning issue...
the RC 3.0 I'm using now is promoted to be having wifi worked,,,
but I never found this rom that way, Im stucked to decide which way should I...
hi, what about your rom,,,
can u describe and tell about those following roms by your opinion???
SimplyGio 1.3
Pretty stable and supports other language, my dad has been using it on his Gio for over a month now.
CyanogenMod 7.1 KANG (RC-3.0)
I had some issue with GPS and split camera screen, other than that it has been pretty good and I used it for about 3 weeks between RC2 and 3. I'll probably go back to this again later.
Cy4noobsMod-7.1.3.1
Had some issue with market and S2E but didn't spend too much time on this ROM.
ArpegGioMod 0.8
Having some problem with Link2SD now and I'll try the 0.8.1.1 boot and dtapps2sd later.
I'm choosing between ArpegGioMod and CM 7.1 RC3 depending on what dtapps2sd is like on the ArpegGioMod.
For your wifi problem, did you load the modem file when you load the Particle ROM?
I am using CyanogenMod 9
Im am using Cyanogenmod 7.2 because in Cyanogenmod 9 im stuck in Bootloop every time i try (i probably tryed it more than 10 times)
PS: Sorry for my bad english, im from Germany

I've had success with cm7.2, cm9 and arpegiomod.
I am currently using cm7.2 because it's the one I find to be the most stable of the bunch. CM9 is quickly catching up though, looking forward to using it full-time in the near future
I'll be making one...
I've used:
Cm7.1 didn't use very long
Cm7.2 most stable custom ROM for me
ArpegGioMod 0.8 best ROM based on stock for M.
Particle ROM worked great for me as long as you preserve your baseband. Second best stock ROM for M. Kernel works great for overclocking and scripts.

I'm now using GioPro v1.4 and yesterday I've used CM9..
CM9 is good enough, but the battery life isn't so good..
GioPro 1.4, but I'm going back to SimpliGio, or maybe see if I can get CM7 or CM9 working.
The problem is, I was a newb and flashed by modem. Now I can't connect to Virgin/Bell (ie no SMS, phone calls, nothing).
Anybody know where I can either get a stock modem for the GT-S5660m or stock firmware for it and extract the modem? Most of the "official" firmwares I've seen have been for the non-m model only.

In Firmwares, right?
I only see for the GT-S5660 non-M model. And a GT-S5660V version? What's that?
Edit: Nvm, it's for Oceania.
If you see regular thread, search for something with MUG baseband, its also for M model

I don't entirely understand your post. Do you mean search the site itself or the forum?
And what, exactly, would I search? "MUG baseband"?
Should I just make a new topic? Don't want to take over this thread...
Also, my phone is confused. I just tried flashing the GT-S5660 firmware at sammobile, and my phone shows it as being GT-S5660L. Is that because of the firmware or is that really my model number?

Was that a serious answer?
To simplify:
Q. "What kernel should I use"
A. "Use one of the kernels"
That's essentially what you just said.
@OP Use either the standard kernel that comes in the .rar (called boot.img) OR use the mjolnir kernel. (I'm talking about CM9 only here).
I'm using boot.img inside the zip of rom. Thanks!

I experience very high batterydrain in CM 7.2 RC 2 ....
I lost battery from 100% to 38% in just 1 night!!! Wifi etc. are off, just stupid 2G.
Any idea why that is happend? I reflashed the rom, to be sure everything is correct, but nothing has changed...
please help me!
PS: i am using the stock Cm 7 kernel...
No reboot at all, with Arco's kernel. Only one shutdown, with testing Yoon Baphomet kernel on RC5. Arco's 3.x kernel never rebooted my wonder.
ICS CM9 RC6
same here,, while waiting for 3.0 kernel chronos,,,, which was still based on sir arne's latest 3.0 kernel,, i use his own kernel,,, and i can say that its flawless,, simple,, yet can be satisfatory for daily usage,,, no randoom reboots whatsoever..
people who said they had problems with this and that maybe
1. had too many apps
2. installed apps from a back up
3. had so many conflicting tweaks/ mods..
R: Use Arco CM9 3.x kernel? No reboot issue? Then write small message here.
I used to have random reboots just when I was using stock GB, then I came to CM9 with beta4 and since then everything is fine! I always go pristine, and to me 3.0 kernel have just improved things, (more performance, less bugs) so I'd say that a stable version should definitely be with 3.0, according to my experience with this rom!

Im always using his kernel for first 3 days I installed CM9/CM10 and no ramdom reboots/dissatisfactories. I am always backing up my litle apps and data then doin a fresh install and the 98% problems are gone. I don't find the reason why people keep reporting these idiotic problem with kernel/random tweaks in arcos thread. Dont be a retard, discuss your problem on your tweaks/mod/kernel thread. Try first fresh install for 2-3 days then start customizing the phone and you'll know what the main reason of your problem. Once again, dont be a retard and a sshole

Using CM9 RC6 from the time Chronos kernel got released. Using Chronos kernel as it has the BLX feature. Only one shutdown. No random reboots. I go pristine each time i flash a ROM (including both sdcard/anrodid_secure and android/data folders)
[i used to have random reboots with RC5, even with custom kernels but with RC6 its gone]
I have been using CM9 since RC2 and I only did a "Pristine" installation once and I haven't had any reboots yet with arco68's stock kernel. I've had problems with random reboots but it's because of a custom kernel that I use.
I NEVER had a reboot issue since I start using 3.0 kernal.
It was more smooth and stable than xperia arc s which I help my friend to flash although he is using cm10.1 .
Please, do not drive away our master, If not Arco, my SGW still in GB.

Always be honest with the developer, only then he can develop without stress. And always try to go pristine and try the ROM before posting bugs.

I do have a question to those who do not experience reboots. Just to make sure it is not me, I tried cm9 RC6 twice with pristine method and in both trials I had reboots. But I believe the reason is cell signal. At both work and home, the coverage is not great and the phone always swithes between 2g and 3g. So fnally my question is do you live/work at a place where coverage is great?
My stupidity, I did not try only 2G network setting before jumping to cm10.

CM9 RC6 rocks.... no reboot issue till date... i don't use any tweaks...
Galaxy W + Pristine CM9 RC6 + DXLM2 + XDA App
no random reboots as of today..
but hanged while playing Six Guns from gameloft for about an hour,,, in mission mode
but it's still understandable,, since i didn't go pristine from cm9_rc4/yoon_kernel baphomet going to cm9rc_6/yoon_kernel chronos....
willl there be a CM9_RC7 or cm9_FINALe.....
I use arco's CM9 RC6 stock kernel from its update....
go pristine, flash and install some apps and games. till now i have't any random reboot even' my 2g and 3g coverage are switchable bcause am in very weak recipient signal.....
Thanks arco68

Data bug has been fixed?
Mate, if you've really done everything you say you've done, there is no reason why you wouldn't want to share your solution.
This is a dev forum, people are here to learn and help each other out.
When releasing a new rom, people generally want complete information before flashing something that could potentially ruin their phone.
Screenshots, List of Features, Compatibility, Etc.
Also, crediting people with what is due is a nice thing to do, seeing how I highly doubt you found the solutions to everything on your own.
Patience is VERY important, repeatedly asking "DID ANYONE TRY MY ROM?" isn't going to get you anywhere.

By default you should have better battery backup with Custom ROMS available on XDA Threads. But you should follow the instructions in the OP carefully. Download and run Battery Calibration app link here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration&hl=en.. Its free app.
