If you created the thread then YOU are the OP (Original Poster) or it can also mean (Original Post) so I do not know what you mean when you say "OP".

Sorry every one I mean admin the person on top of him

Why don't you send him a kind pm to ask the reasons?
Edit: Are you talking about this thread? eagleeyetom already explained in his post why it have been closed.

All I can say is................wow

OP I was part of the Droid X2 community too. To summarize the events that took place over the past few weeks: The mods in their infinite wisdom decided our thread offered nothing to the community. Even though some of our posts were helpful to others and informative regarding android and other technology the fun we had was looked down on. This site is for the developers and those of us who do not create roms, kernels or themes but can answer questions are worth little to nothing. Unfortunate turn of events but there's nothing we can do about it....the decision has been made.

Let me clear up this "stupidity." The rules do not apply to everyone the same. If you had alot more inappropriate content and alot more "thanks" given in your thread, you would have been ok. But since you offered nothing to the community but some wasted space on the forum, your thread must and will continue to be closed. Sorry about your luck.
A toast from my Gnex aboard the Satisfaction!

Look bottom line is threads like that have no real purpose. Now you may or may not like it but that is the way it goes.
Making a thread to complain about it will not do you much good.

[Q] New member posting

I have received a surprising number of PMs in response to my App thread [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=973921] from newbies who say they are PMing because they are unable to reply to threads. One even said he couldn't post till he had 10 posts (how the heck could he get 10 posts if he can't post?). I thought newbies couldn't post links for a certain period or number of posts... but I have slept since then and the site has changed some.
What gives? I read the FAQ and all I found was that in most forums you have to be a registered member to reply or post new topics. Are these newbies just mistaken about the rules, if so is there some way to better explain the posting rules?

We have an informative notice to users when they try to do this.
New users (<10 posts) can't post in development areas. What you could do, is make a "support" thread outwith development. The problem was that we were getting thousands of pointless posts from people in development areas, causing endless trouble in moving them and dealing with the flaming that continued...
Once they have 10 posts outwith development areas, they can post in dev forums within 1 hour of that time. A support thread outwith that section, with a prominant link in the first post might help, and it's the method I will be using myself.

Must follow the rules, thank you.
I have the same issue and found out about the 10 posts rule, yet something confused me, a "new member" (Labeled as Junior Member" was able to post in the development area for a Rom thread with only having >5 posts. I saw two posts of his in this thread and he only had total of 4 posts...I tried to post in the same thread and wasn't allowed to because i have fewer than 10 post...oh and his post is only a day or two old.. what gives??
noted ...sir
This stupid rule forces me too post in pointless threads for me. It's just too much hassle to post in threads you really don't care about just to be able to post in your desired development thread.

The recommended way is to post in Q&A instead of development, and I tried it. Obviously no one from the development thread is going to be informed of my post automagically, so I went on contacting the kernel dev, leading to the same situation as the OP, meaning an unwanted PM to a busy dev...
Yeah I don't want to keep bugging deva through pm. Only reason for me to post in other threads.

I perfectly agree with you, sir, and find the present thread particularly handy in that respect. Of course, I would never post anything just for the sake of reaching a post count of 10, but it appears that light conversation about the ins and outs and philosophy of the XDA rules does help towards that goal, isn't it wonderful?
And hooooo didn't I just discover another thoughtful anti-noob restriction ? It appears that, in order to increase my verbia... to increase the quality, grammar and punctuation of posts, and more importantly, to avoid easy mass spamming, XDA requires non-mod-approved users to wait a total of five minutes between two posts. Specifically, the following message appears:
To prevent spam to the forums, new users must wait five minutes between posts. All new user accounts will be verified by moderators before this restriction is removed.

(HA, yes, I admit that I am just training to use the quote function here, and that the above snippet of text does not bring much to the conversation, but eh, isn't it a positive side effect of the anti-noob-spam rule, that I get to train proper formatting of posts?)

Congratulations on your first post, komusic.
I shall also note that the 5 minutes between posts limitation makes that a minimum of 50 minutes is necessary for anyone to reach the infamous tenposts milestone after which the golden doors of the dev forums posting will open under our ungrateful greasy little noobish fingers. Hence, this is also a test of patience. We shall consider ourselves monks, in fact. Apprentices.
So can anyone explain why a member with >10 posts can post in the development area? The posts are recent, just yesterday and the day before

Why can't I reply to some topics on XDA mobile?

Title says it all really.
Trying to add comments to threads in the Original /Android I9300 forums, but the option to reply is not there.
Can reply to other threads though.
Is it because my post count is too low?
Also, why are there two separate forums for Android development and Original Android Development?
Looking through the respective forums, they seem practically identical. Sure, there are moss included in the Android development thread - but there are also ROMs - the latter of which has blurred the purpose of these two independent forums.

so bad
I join here to try to help and contribute in topic of a ROM and I can't I must use PM
I think the "minimum of topic/reply" make more spam for can get the full range to reply in some topics
I'm currently in the situation that I'd like to post a help at a development forum, but I'm not allowed to because of my low post count. :crying:
Frankly, I understand the idea behind the minimum post counts, but on the other hand the xda moderators presume that when I am a noob, all I want to do is ask stupid questions to developers. So now I really have to dump at least 10 stupid postings somewhere until I'm allowed to help... And I wonder why I should take this tedious task, just for helping out...
What about that: Allow new members to post anywhere after 10+ postings or after they have been members for at least one month. This way you will also keep away noobs who just have a quick question, but make it a little easier for members who are actually interested in writing at xda.

The restrictions of time decreases as your post count increases... after 30 or so... its limit time is below 30 secs or so.. its very negligible.. it is kept such that due to network problems it shouldn't get reposted twice.. it has saved me many times from app
Believe me.. its for our own good..

Judge a man by his questions rather than his answers.
The admin is not going to change the post count because 1 or 2 people cannot be patient enough to wait till they have the requested post count to be able to reply more than once within a minute. We all had to go through it so stop whining and get posting...
I have the same problem, now searching for topics where i can post a relevant reply
After that its waiting on a Moderator wo's in a good mood to give me the permission to post in topics where i want to post...
But i think its normal to make it 'hard' for the newbies, there are a lot of people who don't wanna use XDA for good purposes, but only for trolling people etc. etc.
Voila a post extra for me
Besides having to wait to post shows a small level of commitment to using the forums for what they are here for. Keep it up guys and maybe you wont have to wait so long

Are the posting restrictions too strict?

For a long time I've been a 'silent' reader of the XDA-Forum.
Today I wanted to post a question in the development section of a phone. Therefore I registered a new account for me, but unfortunately I was unable to post the question, as there is a restriction saying you need 10 posts before you were allowed to post in a development section.
As the question is quite important to me, I made up my mind and thought: well, then I've to write 10 posts in different forums, so I'm able to post the original question - does that make sense, I guess not?
Luckily I hit another restriction - as a new user you are only allowed to post every 5 minutes
So the question is, is it really necessary to have these strict posting restrictions (10 posts) on the development section?
You would be amazed by the amount of spammers and random posts we got away by these rules.
Well if you have a question it needs to go in the q/a section for your device. The development section is only for development, this is why the rules are in place to try and prevent stuff being posted in the wrong section
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Once you are past the restrictions, you'll find you can do anything. The reason for these restrictions is because the overarching majority of users who are new here refuse to follow the rules on posting. Therefore, the best way to deal with this is to restrict new users from posting in development areas, as these are the places new users tend to abuse with questions or stupid comments.
Once you're past the restrictions you'll find it's OK

This is exactly why these restrictions are in place. It is useful when joining a site to learn how it operates first. If you have a question it should go in the Q&A sections, not in Development.
If you post 10 useful and helpful posts then you should be able to move past the restrictions. Pleae don't be tempted to post spam as these posts will be deleted.
All that said, wlcome to XDA!
WB
I understand that these restrictions were put in place to keep spammers and the "of course i used search and googled it" away, but as being a long time silent observer and have tested roms before my first post and didn't feel the need to have someone hold my hand as I flashed away, I felt that I should inform the developers of the bugs I have found or to simply thank them.
But with these restrictions in place it meant I had to spam some threads to get to 10 posts which always kept me away. Well now I decided to get those 10 posts, registered and started (mildly) spamming. Up to three posts now.
What I'm trying to say is that with these restrictions you are also keeping away some people that know what they are doing (when it comes to flashing and testing roms) and don't feel the need to ask questions that have been answered many times before.
Just my two cents.

If People know what they're doing then they should be posting with helpful replies instead of spamming. I bet 99% of the questions/comments from People who start these kinds of threads have already been raised on the original thread or is some noob like comment that doesn't need to be posted in the first place.
The fact that you couldn't be bothered to search and find the other 1,000 threads here complaining about the very same thing is proof such restrictions are needed.

I went through the same exact frustration with the posting rules. When I read about making meaningful posts vs spam/non-helpful for the first 10 all I could think of was... "well, I want to make a meaningful post in regards to a particular rom in the development area, but to do so I have to find other avenues that could be helpful."
I've got no issue with the tight rules to keep spam down, but I imagine I would have above 50 posts right now in development areas but I always shrugged it off and made no reply, which is not helpful to anyone. Now I'm in the process of getting my posts so I can finally contribute.

I'm not missing the point, I understand what you are saying, I just believe I could be much more helpful in the development thread, and besides that's the reason I signed up. Not to be forced to go help somewhere I'm not interested in. I came to consult with others in a particular section of the forum specifically and i can't until I go somewhere else and post, that's all I'm trying to say. It's not a huge deal just don't think it necessarily helps me in this case. Although I could see some good reasons as to why they do this.

The 10 post rule is there for a cause. To prevent the spamming of dev section.
How can I post in dev section? Simple, you make 10 meaningful posts by helping others as zacthespack already stated.
If you can help others in the development section, then I am pretty sure you can do the same in the General and Q&A section also..And what is it that you want to consult in?

True, but for myself as a long time reader I have a bug to report on paranoidandroids recent beta. Instead of posting that observation, I find myself trolling forums looking for meaningful things to say to get my 10 posts. Its funny that dd-wrt forums don't have this restriction, and I don't see these spamming issues or silly restrictions. Basically I feel that the community on here is a bit sanctimonious and pompous.

Lol, I like the idea of the thread, it's pretty neat, and friendly competition is great. The poll is a great idea but all your devs in it aren't even working on making any AOSP roms, except Jamison with AOKP but he is still dabbling with source and such. The link I gave you are the rules of what you can post in this sub-forum, none of the bunch include asking a question at all. Calm down a little and learn the rules my friend. Oh and I'm already running a 4.2.2 rom

I do not see you answering this question. And if they wanna move it to QA...they will. I dont care at this point. I just want an idea of when we get in on this since it seems lately its only days after an announcement that someone has access to a build or source. So again, instead of whining at me....answer me! And if a Moderator is reading...go ahead...move this to Q/A...makes me no difference at all. I think this is relevant to development/developers. So if any Moderator disagrees...please move the thread. Again I do not care nor do I have that ability. I am just OP but do not have such functions on my interface.

Do not post this kind of thing here......... it belongs in Q & A not Development........ IF anything ends with or implies a "?" mark...... then it goes to Q & A
Next time posting non development related topics here will get infracted......
Thread moved to Q & A
Thanks ~~ oka1
Again...I said I dont mind

Nothing wrong with enforcement. I just thought it might get MORE views in DEV area is why I posted it. If the rule is strict (ends in ? ) then I will not post again. So apologies if they are warranted

My previous post
Lol, I like the idea of the thread, it's pretty neat, and friendly competition is great. The poll is a great idea but all your devs in it aren't even working on making any AOSP roms, except Jamison with AOKP but he is still dabbling with source and such.
Why are you so angry haha? I gave you some insight and if you search a little OP you will get an idea of who might be dropping a 4.2.2 rom. I will not give you any other insight or links to such threads that might be only a couple away from your thread. Because you are simply not polite but demanding, and your tone is unheard of in these threads. I say good day.
Isn't asking for etas against the rules too?

It is question as to if they have access to builds...and where those might be. I am not asking for timeline for anybody to MAKE a rom at all. I basically wish to know idea of when there will be something out there for us to use on S3 devices in USA. Pretty much an information thing not ETA thing. Understand??
Why don't your reply to me?
I gave you information and you no reply to me? Why?

I do not see the answer there...Only how to TAG things with {MOD} or so on. And devs are reading THIS forum more! So I do not agree. And I am now an OP so leave my thread ALONE!

this kind of attitude is why no dev wants to listen to you.
If you'd read in the dev section your answer is there

[Q] Now that the root threads have been locked

Should we communicate new ideas and attempts via PMS or email? Did someone have an open thread elsewhere on xda? I check multiple times daily and have been attempting to learn and contribute. .since I am a noob I am typically quiet but I am down to test fur people if need be.
Dude dont even try it , leave it alone , to many emotional people in xda

This is a legitimate question for the q/a forum...if they choose to lock it that is their prerogative. I have never made any trouble on this site...there is little reason. This post is not meantt to be inflammatory, I just genuinely want to know if XDAS part in our quest for root is over or not...I am not breaking any forum rules in posting this.
So do people still plan to work on the note 4 using this forum or is there somewhere else I should be focusing my attention to?

Because of the nonsense that goes on in root threads, no developer in their right mind will post any efforts in one of the threads in General. This is why developers have taken their efforts off of XDA and in private chats...and now no one learns anything here.
And no, you are not breaking rules by asking but you opened a thread where all the non-helping people from the other threads will have a place to go. So I am sure they will be quite proud to post something here to get this locked too.
Now Root will never be achieved, sadly.

Yes. Because closing a thread full of people with nothing better to do than post "are we there yet" and then start flaming each other will totally stop all work on root. Smh....I guess you didn't even bother to read my post above.
Wasnt their a bunch of devs in that thread finding exploits ??? Guess they are pming

As Kenny stated here. This is the best course to take. We know most of you guys think we are being jerks, but the bottom line is that thread is/was and would continue to be out of hand. Just because that thread is locked for now, does not mean devs are going to stop collaborating and find a method.

Whoa, excuse me . I read your post and found no value in it. I merely made a statement (not even remotely regarding your profound post.) We paid a substantial amount of money for this phone. I also paid for the stupid XDA premium app to support the XDA community. I also have contributed much money to many devs in the past for previous phones I've owned. I believe I have a right to be kept in the know. Whether the know is what exploit developers are using to find root or useless banter from idiotic foreigners and newbs who have no idea what is going on is completely regardless. It's a public forum. The thread was posted in the general section. There was no warning in the title that it was a "Dev thread only." It wasn't just the idiots who were posting dumb comments, it was a lot of the ATT Note 4 Community that would post 4-5 replies after the "are we there yet?" posts that got the thread shut down. I enjoyed the thread, I learned a lot about exploits that I wouldn't have ever thought to research on my own. It was purely entertainment for me and it was taken away because the moderation can never handle anything properly.
Bridge is closed, troll. Go shake your head somewhere else. Nomsayin?

First off as Senior Moderator and Team Leader of this section, I AM NO TROLL! You certainly failed to comprehend my post and have some reading comprehension problems. YOUR post had absolutely no value and made no sense that a closed troll filled thread would stop you from getting root! Wow...just wow.
Now if you had read my post correctly I stated there IS an area for developers ONLY where people can see what is going on and not disturb the developers with useless posts like "Now we will never get root" or "Are we there yet". Try reading the original post a few times...then before you respond read it again. Feel free to take this to PM with me if you have any more criticisms of the avenues presented on this PRIVATE membership only development forum.
Cheers

Private?! OK buddy. I could have 4 accounts to this "private" forum in 5 mins. You guys give any moron a membership. You guys even made it easier for morons to join by making them watch a video rather than actually reading the rules before signing up. This is dumb. I have lost interest in all doings on this forum. Thanks for the boost of support from the Mod team. Did you have to watch a video before becoming a mod? Cheers.

Actually yes we do. And please read those rules you so reverently talked about. Having more than one account is a rule violation.

Wow...well you were right about having a place for people to cry...I was genuinely looking for a place to go keep learning and hopefully obtaining root...if you want to stop and close this thread I approve. No need for mods and users to be fighting and disrespecting eachother. I will continue my pursuit in other threads this one is finished for me.
Closed at OP's request.
