i was wondering how you could map an action on to a double tap of the home button.
i'm ultimately trying to imitate the ipod touch's double tap to get music console/player to come up when in lock screen

Hey does anyone know if it'd be able to make it so we can unlock the evo without any hardware use? I mean completely bypassing the button on the top and just sliding from one side of the bezel to the other like Blackberry Playbook users?
This made my head hurt.

lololol bro, i mean if you could slide your finger from one side of the screen to the other side and somehow make that unlock the evo without having to hit the button on the top
The name of the app is escaping my mind right now. But there is one where you can tap the Proximity Sensor and it will turn on the screen.
I know it's not sliding across the screen, but lets you bypass the power button. Widget locker can use any hardware key you set.
**Found it real quick...gotta love Google, right?

No prob, just click my thanks button.
It just occurred to me but the whole tap tap app has sprung lots of ideas with it, have the proximity sensor turn on the flash light with the same method, or perhaps pause/play a song or skip a song........just to name a few lol

The Power/Lock button on the back is a great novelty when one is holding the phone in one's hand.
But when it's lying on my desk and a text comes in, I knock on, but then have to wait for the screen to time out. Is there any way to lock the phone without picking it up?
Yes. Just double tap an empty space on the home screen.

Double tap the status bar.
In my former smartphones I always had the back button to the left and the app switching button to the right. Is it in any way possible to swap their positions?

Good call. This works really well
If you are having difficulty reaching power button to put phone to sleep, you can remap the Bixby button to do so.
Its pretty easy.
You should be on at least XXXXASBA firmware.
Add a quick command in Bixby at Advanced Feature.
Command "Turn off Display".
In bixby remap optipn, select single press and assign the command.
The only drawback is it takes a sec to turn the screen off.
Still, sometimes it better than reaching that Monster's button on top. Enjoy!!
Ah thanks mate, you're a genius. If only they had double tap to lock on the stock launcher

You do have it in launchers like Nova. Couldn't find anything special about OneUi launcher so it took me 0.0001s to make wise decision
Also been using Nova double tap to lock...

You can create a shortcut to lock the screen instead using the same Quick command. Just go to quick command. Select the gear icon next to the command and create the shortcut by selecting Add shortcut to home screen. At least you now get an alternative to double tap on screen.
Double tap to lock screen might also be possible if you use Tasker (I am not sure but I can give it a try)
Thanks, I'm using this now ?
Thanks, this is actually pretty smart.
But I feel like its more for lefties. Still have to reach when holding it in my right hand, so basically makes no difference reaching bixby button or the power button.
If you have "difficulties" reaching the power button... Then you have serious anatomical issues and the phone sl button a is the least of your worries...
Just grab Good Lock, install NavStar and add the screen off button to your navigation bar.
Here's how I have mine set up...
you can use One Hand Gesture+ as well, and set one of the gesture handles to turn off the screen. Simply swipe from either side that you like (similar to how you open Apps Edge) to turn off the screen

GoodLock is not globally available. NiceLock is an alternative though.
I hate Tap to wake on Pixel and wanted to check if there is any Magisk Module or any other way to get Double Tap to Wake/unlock instead. Is there any way we can get that? I am rooted as well.
Try the app DTSO in the Google Play Store, no root required.

I am looking to double tap to wake/unlock when device is asleep. We can't add widgets there, correct. You might be talking about double tap to lock.
Custom kernel
Isn't there double tap to wake already? It's called "tap to check phone" in the lockscreen settings
Unless I'm confused by your question...
He doesn't want a single tap, he wants a double tap to wake. Sounds like a reasonable request to avoid accidental wakes

Thanks. I didn't realize it was single tap! I'm always tapping it twice lol

This app/widget works on other devices for screen on & off, but, on this phone, only the double tap to sleep function is working. (Tested this w/the phone's native single tap function turned off).
I'm going to try some other apps later this evening, see if I can get one to work w/the lockscreen.

Nova Launcher!
+1 Nova Prime...root needed for double tap.
How do you use Nova to do double tap to wake? I make it double tap to sleep.
Nova Launcher doesn't have a Double tap to wake and it also doesn't work with gestures.

Nova works perfectly fine with gestures now! It may not be as smooth as the Pixel launcher but it's good enough!
