Hey does anyone know if it'd be able to make it so we can unlock the evo without any hardware use? I mean completely bypassing the button on the top and just sliding from one side of the bezel to the other like Blackberry Playbook users?
This made my head hurt.

lololol bro, i mean if you could slide your finger from one side of the screen to the other side and somehow make that unlock the evo without having to hit the button on the top
The name of the app is escaping my mind right now. But there is one where you can tap the Proximity Sensor and it will turn on the screen.
I know it's not sliding across the screen, but lets you bypass the power button. Widget locker can use any hardware key you set.

No prob, just click my thanks button.
It just occurred to me but the whole tap tap app has sprung lots of ideas with it, have the proximity sensor turn on the flash light with the same method, or perhaps pause/play a song or skip a song........just to name a few lol

Hi,
Is there any app to unlock the screen of HTC droid Incredible 2? To unlock the screen every time I have to push the power button, which I fear it may spoil the button. So, guys please suggest me any other way to unlock my phone (HTC droid Incredible 2) screen.
Most Roms usually have options to use the volume keys to unlock the phone. Its normally found in the tweaks or rom features via the settings menu.

^^This.
And you do know that that is the reason the power button is there, right? It's kinda like saying you don't wanna use the door to your house, and use the window instead because you don't want to wear out the door.

Well, having only one entry to house is very dangerous, you should also have a backup door: Just kidding

i believe widget locker has that option to unlock by the volume keys also there is a mod you can flash to the same.
you can also install mi locker wich gives you a bunch of different locks from miui alone with the option to unlock the phone by the volume keys

Widget locker the only bad thing is that is a paid app there is also a no lock app. I'll look for the link and repost it

I can code the wake on volume keys MOD to ANY ROM, PM me if you need this..
Personally I can't run a ROM without this MOD, it's much easier for me to use the volume keys, and i use a widget to lock the phone, so i never even touch the power button.

The app "No Lock" gets rid of your lock screen completely, so all you need to do is press the power button or a volume button if your ROM will let you. It is pretty cool, and should work without being rooted.
As you are probably aware, double tapping the home button will launch S Voice on the Galaxy S3. Unfortunately, Samsung did not include a way to re-assign this button for a different function if you don't fancy the S Voice app. Instead, all they did was give you a way to disable the hone button double tap. Well here is a way for you to re-assign the home button double tap without the need for any rooting or modding at all.
Step 1) Go into the S Voice settings and uncheck the Launch SVoice box. This will keep S Voice from launching when you double tap the home button.
Step 2) Install Home2 Shortcut from the Play Store
Step 3) Open Home2 Shortcut and configure it to launch the app of your choosing with a double tap of the home button. The app is pretty self explanatory and setting it up will be pretty straight forward. NOTE: When you get to the end, after you tap "close" it will ask you to set as default. Select Home2Launcher as the default.
Hope this helps anyone who didn't know how to do this. I am currently running CM10, and am using this to launch Google Now with a double tap of the home button.
Nice find! Is there a tho when single pressing?

Any idea how to assign double tap to Google voice search, like it was available on other phones on holding search key?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
Seems to be Voice Search is not showing as application by default on GS3. You have to uninstall it using Titanium Backup and then install it from Market. This will put shortcut where it belongs and you would be able to assign it to double tap Home key.
If you have Apex Launcher, you can go to Apex Settings>"Behavior settings" and scroll down to gesture settings and you can configure one of the gestures to open up recent apps. I chose swipe down. It's not a fix for when you're in an app, but its better than pressing the home button twice or holding it down when you're on a homescreen. You can also configure the home button to open the Recent Apps dialog if you're already on your default homescreen.

There is a paid app called Multitask Shortcut which is an app that open the multitasking menu. So, if you combine that with this app like I have, then yes you can assign the double tap to multitask.

Ever since installing the Google Now mod OR removing some APKs as per the S3 apk guide, double tapping does not launch S-Voice...
Which is frustrating when trying to make a call from my car....Voice cmd for apps is enabled in settings, as well as the double tap setting within S-voice.

Is this the only way to get Voice Search working? I'm trying very hard to not root this thing, but I need a quick way to launch Voice Search.
Sad that threads like these will no longer be easily visible to users on multiple carriers due to the splitting of forums... Thanks OP!

I was actually annoyed that I couldnt tap on the menu button and back button with the s-pen and found that there is a command for back and menu.
Open the help from your apps and choose s-pen and then commands to see it. You basically have to click on the button on the s-pen and while holding it down draw a command which is from right to left diagonally down and then to the right again for back. For menu if I recall its the top of a triangle from bottom left diagonally up then down right...I should have used my note to respond and paste an image in here

I dont think you understood me, but thanks anyway.
My question was, when i'm writing with my s-pen, i always accidentaly touch the back button, or the home or the menu button (physical and sensitive) . IS there any way to lock these buttons???????? like when watching a video and locking with power button, you canot anymore touch the home/back button, is there any way to do that in s-note? or any other apps
When I use the S Pen, the menu and back buttons are automatically disabled.
As a test, just on your home screen, hover the pen so the blue circle appears, then try and press the back and home buttons, they should not work.
Move the pen away, and they work again.
I too would prefer a way to lock the hard menu any back buttons. It is true that they don't work when the pen is in hover range but the moment it is out of hover range there is a high possibility that you hit them and they respond. It is impossible to always stay in that small range.
This feature would be really of great help when using the camera also. I keep accidentally touch the back button when trying to use the camera.

I understood the opposite of what you wanted
Mainly because as other member posted these buttons are locked while using the s pen. . However, if the s pen is not in range then they can still be pressed so you do have a point. . Maybe a customization feature in a rom. . ?? Feature request from the dev of the rom you are using?!
Well if you didn't know the s-pen shortcuts. . Now you do. .

The Power/Lock button on the back is a great novelty when one is holding the phone in one's hand.
But when it's lying on my desk and a text comes in, I knock on, but then have to wait for the screen to time out. Is there any way to lock the phone without picking it up?

i'm pretty sure it's meant as additional functionality. touch to wake/unlock as usual, touch again to re-lock the phone. this way you could completely avoid using the power button, apart from actually powering the phone. i imagine that behaviour would come in quite handy, especially if you just quickly want to check it for notifications/time and could avoid the at times awkward 'touch to unlock -> adjust grip -> press power button' order with 'touch -> touch again'.
nothing huge, honestly feels like an oversight to me, that there isn't an option for something like this.

Yap, just as you said, It's meant like add, func. to lock screen like unlock.
Instead of DT2lock with "lock screen app" It would be very handy to lock with FP ...
I think a reason why that was excluded as a feature is because you naturally place your index finger there while talking. It would end up locking your phone accidentally more often. It's like the dimple on the back of the Motos.

i personally haven't experienced a single task during which my finger(tip) lays on top of the sensor, apart from unlocking of course. also there would always be the option of implementing a toggle for an additional functionality like this, the 'double-tap power for camera' feature is a great example for this.
