Just copy the bootanimation.zip file to system/media and set the same permissions as other files and reboot. Search for the boot animation zip files in the forum and change rename it to bootanimation.zip and do as I said.

Are you making your own or using some downloaded animations? Have you checked the compression level - it must be store, or it won't work 100%.

That file works, you just need to change the name. I believe its like bootanimation_final.zip for sense roms. Look in /system/resource/customize and look at the name of the bootanimation, and rename the new animation to that name.
Also you got the 'android' default animation because you deleted the old one and a new one wasn't detected.

Did you try editing the permissions?
here is the default.xml for that rom it shows where it goes and what its called
<BootConfiguration>
<BootAnimation animation="/data/local/hTC_bootanimation.zip" audio="/system/customize/resource/android_audio.mp3" />
</BootConfiguration>
<ShutdownConfiguration>
<ShutdownAnimation image_png="/data/local/hTC_downanimation.zip" image="" fps="15" />

no luck either, this time instead of gettin "android" there was no animation at all. ima try and replace the the bootanimation zips in both data/local and data/drm hopefully that will do the trick.
edit: damn it no animation again, this sucks. i really want to show it off to all my apple loving friends haha.
are you unzipping it and removing the bootanimation and then renaming the bootanimation inside(have to ask)

An animation should work regardless of the rom. Just check the permissions and name [name differs from sense to aosp]. And check dased's file.

hell yea it worked. whats different from the zip you provided from the original? im just curious. thanks for everyone's help.
the zip in the link is a flashable zip(i.e you flash from recovery and it was made for a system/customize/recource i.e sense based rom) and what i posted was just the bootanimation.zip. thats why i asked if you unzipped it and removed the bootanimation out of that zip before you renamed it.

If you were going that route, you'd be better off getting your sound, naming to SPC_animation_final.mp3 [i think that's the name] and the manually moving it to the correct folder; via adb or root explorer, ect.

I think you just put a mp3 file called "bootanim.mp3" inside the bootanimation.zip file.
These are the steps..
* Extract the file some-where on your pc.
* put bootanim.mp3 in the same folder as desc.txt (this is the root of the extracted file).
* re-create the zip file called bootanimation.zip BUT you must use "store" compression.
* put the new bootanimation.zip into the /system/media folder of your android device (requires a program like "root browser")
That should do it...

is that now I will not change rom.
I am very happy with MIUI
You don't need to sign the zip, the unsigned zip should work.
It is important that you use the "no compression" or "store" option when you create the zip.
Maybe AlfalfaX is right about the rom. Try doing a namdroid backup, and then flash an ICS based rom.
Maybe your rom or kernel ignores the sound file on boot? I don't know which bit plays the boot animation, but I think its the rom.
Here is a test...
I attached 2 boot animation "recoveries". you can install each one using the "CWM Recovery" program to test sound.
If no sound at all, then try a new rom (sorry).
if sound on any test, then make sure you select "no compression" or "store" when creating bootanimation.zip
if new rom...
I prefer jj hybrid rom, but I hear ice cream pureness is also good.

Yes, it is good. It can work well at 1.4GHz and is stable. The battery use is higher when you over-clock the cpu.
Yes you flash it with flashtool. You must also run clockwork mod after flashing and do the update to get WiFi working.
(Clockwork Mod is built into the kernel. Just click on the "volume down" when the cool batman logo gets bright, and the led lights up for the 1st time).

My permission is rwxrwxrwx on bootanimation.zip.
When I didn't get animation it was because I created the zip file normally.
You MUST MUST MUST chose "no compression" or "store" as the zip compression method when you make the new bootanimation.zip. (for me that made the difference between animation and no animation )

Ok, here one that i made 5 minuts ago, with amazing Mike Olfield's excerpt of Orabidoo from 5 miles out album...., simply past to /system/media folder an set full permissions.
The secret is when you compress the new bootanimation.zip with winrar you have to set "no compression" as i show you on screenshot.

in order to get the zip files active you need to change these original files i just posted in your system\bin
backup the samsungani and rename bootanimation to that name,
the go to system\media and drop your bootanimation.zip there 3 times just rename 2 of them to ODEAnim.zip and sanim.zip
then the bootlogos will work

Hey all,
Just upgraded my att s2 to a tmobile s4 and currently in process of customizing it deeply. It is already rooted and I already changed the boot animation. However, im a bit stuck on the shutdown, as the folder all state at media\shutdown does not exist. There is no shutdown folder on this tmobile folder but found the shutdown qmg fike in the bin folder.
How do I change the shutdown if this model doesnt point to it as the source? Flashing zip or manually creating it doesnt do anything.
Any help appreciated.

Thanks for reply. That is mainly for the boot animation, which I already have changed. My problem is that most threads on this state to replace the shutdown files in media/video/shutdown. However, I don't have the /shutdown subdirectory. I just have the shutdown.qmg file in another directory.
Can't seem to replace the shutdown animation as a result.
Thanks,

the /shutdown directory all threads keep referencing. I don't have that and as previous post stated, I only have that qmg file there and no directory. So I guess my question now is how to I generate a qmg file out of an animation? The animation consists of the 26 image files they all state to replace in the /shutdown directory that does not exist.
Thanks
