That file works, you just need to change the name. I believe its like bootanimation_final.zip for sense roms. Look in /system/resource/customize and look at the name of the bootanimation, and rename the new animation to that name.
Also you got the 'android' default animation because you deleted the old one and a new one wasn't detected.

Did you try editing the permissions?
here is the default.xml for that rom it shows where it goes and what its called
<BootConfiguration>
<BootAnimation animation="/data/local/hTC_bootanimation.zip" audio="/system/customize/resource/android_audio.mp3" />
</BootConfiguration>
<ShutdownConfiguration>
<ShutdownAnimation image_png="/data/local/hTC_downanimation.zip" image="" fps="15" />

So what that means is to move your bootanimation to /data/local.
And great minds think alike.

no luck either, this time instead of gettin "android" there was no animation at all. ima try and replace the the bootanimation zips in both data/local and data/drm hopefully that will do the trick.
edit: damn it no animation again, this sucks. i really want to show it off to all my apple loving friends haha.
are you unzipping it and removing the bootanimation and then renaming the bootanimation inside(have to ask)

An animation should work regardless of the rom. Just check the permissions and name [name differs from sense to aosp]. And check dased's file.

hell yea it worked. whats different from the zip you provided from the original? im just curious. thanks for everyone's help.
the zip in the link is a flashable zip(i.e you flash from recovery and it was made for a system/customize/recource i.e sense based rom) and what i posted was just the bootanimation.zip. thats why i asked if you unzipped it and removed the bootanimation out of that zip before you renamed it.

If you were going that route, you'd be better off getting your sound, naming to SPC_animation_final.mp3 [i think that's the name] and the manually moving it to the correct folder; via adb or root explorer, ect.

Can anyone knowledgeable port this. I tried myself but I suck
Oh here's the original thread with the zip file
from my understanding you should be able to download the bootanimation-evo.zip and rename it to either bootanimation.zip or sanim.zip and put it in the /system/media/ location
make sure that the ROM you're running has a kernel that has bootanimation support
You can use the EVO file because it's the same resolution as our Epic 4G Touch

I doubt it will work if you use 7zip you can see the structure is complete different from any bootanim that is made for our phone. The png sizes are just right but nothing else

I use 7zip for everything. I wasn't saying to rezip the files, I suggested simply renaming the zip to the appropriate name for the bootanimation, as a matter of fact I will test it on my own phone for you and give you my results

Download bootanimation-evo.zip
Renamed to bootanimation.zip
Moved to phone SDCard
Used ROM ToolBox Root Browser
Renamed original bootanimation.zip to bootanimiation.zip.orginal (/system/media) or delete it
Move bootanimation.zip.orginal to external SDCard
Copy bootanimation.zip from external_SDCard to /system/media
Rebooted the phone

Are you making your own or using some downloaded animations? Have you checked the compression level - it must be store, or it won't work 100%.
Restore the ability to play mp4 bootanimation from stock motorola ROM
Remove the .txt from file in attachments and put the file in system/bin and replace the original one
Don't forget to make a backup in case anything goes wrong
After that you'll be able to use the mp4 bootanimation.zip from stock rom
I've tried this in many roms from different devices and everything works fine

Where can i find some boot animations ? video
i want a Ring with an M inside Growing
yeay, it work on PA 4.44 . thanks man
I finally got this to work....
I have the Boostmobile CDMA XT1031 variant and I am running Stock 4.4.4.+Xposed.
I had to manually set the permissions of that bootanimation file of yours to: rwxr-xr-x.
All that work to get the Android L boot animation to work on stock!
Didn't worked for me at first try then I did this:
1) Change the permissions of the bootanimation file that you pasted in system/bin (change it to -rwxr-xr-x)
2) Change the permissions of bootanimation.zip that you pasted in system/media and change the permission as you changed it for above file.
3) Reboot and enjoy!
Very nice!! :good:
I will make a flasheable zip to it easy!
Please port it to CM12
I'm using your script since i bought my phone, Its awesome
But in latest CM12 its not working anymore
I port a working version to LOLLIPOP roms like CM12

It worked on my Boost Mobile moto g (xt1031). At first I had problems but then I realized that I forgot to change permissions ?. Here is the install method: (I don't know much about the features when you post so I guess you'll have to share this reply somehow for those that have problems and could have some help)
1. Backup "bootanimation" located in system/bin (I just make a folder in my Downloads calling it backup______ and place it in there)
2. Rename attachment from "bootanimation.txt" to "bootanimation" Copy and paste the "bootanimation" into system/bin (yes you replace it (or overwrite whatever ot says).
3. Change file's permissions to rwxr-xr-x
4. There is no "4" you're done. However, if you have a theme loaded in your rom I think you're going to have to update the boot animation back to stock in your theme settings.
Restoring:
1. Rename backup to "bootanimation" and paste to system/bin.
2. Change permissions to rwxr-xr-x
If you need help i'll try to help based on what I know

It looks, that there should be problem with dark theme and removing mod for now, sorry :/ You can simply restore original Settings.apk file but it will not restore supersu icon in app drawer, don't why??? You can still access supersu app from dialer if you dial *#*#1234#*#*.
Sorry for this complication, but I didn't try restore original state. Of course, if you have full rom backup, it will always help

I found the way how to do it, but you have to use slightly moded supersu.apk If you want to try it, just download supersu.apk from attachment and copy to data/app/en.chainfire.supersu folder or system/app/SuperSu folder (depends on, where is supersu installed) and overwrite SuperUser apk with proper name of apk file (this moded supersu.apk cant't be install). Then reboot phone, SuperSu icon will be again in app drawer so in settings select hide icon and select what theme you prefer Good luck and no warrenty with this "mod"

Well, Look at the Original Android Development section. Someone created a tool that makes a flash able zip file out of your bootanimation. Go check it out.
You need root ?

Hi!
You can use my tool to create or change a bootanimation!
If you need help i can help you!
For start bootanimation is in /system/etc/media
bootSound.ogg ( see how i write, is case sensitive) is in /system/media/audio/animationsounds
Bootanimation have inside a txt file and in the written line is a switch for boot sound that tells in what part it starts.
