My buddy has the Note 2 on T-MOBILE and had these pink [email protected] on it not on outside of screen though. Wondering what is it and how it got there.

Really NO ONE AT ALL?
Its the tmobile my account icon. With that app your plan’s usage information will be updated once per day and display in your phone’s notification bar. The T-Mobile My Account icon will also display in your phone’s status bar until this feature is disabled.
To disable this feature, open the T-Mobile My Account app and select Menu > Options or deselect the check box located on the first screen of ‘What’s new in T-Mobile My Account’.

Honestly its hard to tell. But the screen facts: each amoled screen is made up with certain amount of chemicals and that pink spot might be from an excessive amount of one chemical or just a pressured pixel area. Either way it should be under warranty

I'm guessing by the Google Window. Is there a screen protector? Could be that, just do the screen test in *#0*# and see if it still appears. Otherwise, maybe he spilled some ink or something, I really doubt it's under the screen but anything is possible, in that case do a rma.

Anyone notice this? At the top of screen, right under the Status Bar, there seems to be some intentional darkening.
I know it's not the screen, because it shows up in screen shots and if you drag the photo around down to the middle of your screen, the darkened horiztonal line still shows right under the status bar.
No a big deal really, but slightly annoying. Check the posted screen shots (anyone's) and then look at yours.
Why would they do that?

It most likely is a software issue. The Nexus S had screen issues that were corrected with a software update from Google. Once we get root we can use voodoo colors and set the screen color to our liking.

I think hes talking about the vertical lines everyone is discussing in the other thread. Its just the way the screens are. Some are more noticeable then others.

No it's a horizontal line and it's not a screen defect. It's definitely software related and I believe it only shows on the home screen and lock screen
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Actually it shows anywhere the status bar or any type of header bar shows, like the orange bar on the top of the xda app. I think it was by design to have a shadow come from the top bar.

Hello I have 4 perfect circles going vertically on the right half of my screen, they are about a half inch diamenter. They have an outline of about a 1/10th of an inch outline.
Anyone else have this issue? I tried to take a screenshot but this is a screen issue so it doesn't come out on the pictures. Ill try to get a picture.
Any input on what they could be??
They are more easily viewed on whote backgrounds or any light color background

First ive heard of that. Probably need to try to send it back for exchange.

Did you have an image on screen for an extended period of time? This sounds like a burn in. It happens on these screens when something is on the screen without moving or any changes. It just burns in. If you go thru some of the settings on the phone there is an option that helps against this.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I have nothing of that shape 4 circles...

If I use my alarm clock the stock Android one and dim the screen so the large clock shows will that lead to a burn in? It's something I would always do with my old lcd but now I'm scared with this phone
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Are you using a screen protector? If so, try the burn in test without that on and see if those circles are still there. It might just be the screen protector.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
The four circles may be correlated to the four fingertips of your left hand. Could it be that the screen protector is damaged with some kind of oil deposits? Have any KFC lately
I have the same thing. You only see it when you look at the phone from the side... so I don't mind at all

Yes leaving the screen on all night with the clock can cause burn in.

So I'm watching a video (expanded to full screen) on the stock browser at night in a dark room when the screen times out.
I can't find any way of switching the screen timeout off, and have to resort to setting the time to maximum and having to reopen the screen and restart the video every 10 minutes.
There has to be a solution to this annoying problem? Please?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Is smart stay enabled or is it just not working on the dark room ? If smart stay is not working then you can just pull out the s pen from it's holder or hover with the s pen instead of closing the video.

Im not troll..but i heard many issue of burn screen come from Amoled display..do some search, u will find the tread which discuss about burn screen..
Here one of them from note 2 thread..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1967803
U can found more from note 1 thread..
Not saying watch video can confirm the screen burn issue..just saying maybe it can cause life span of screen burn become short..but definately amoled screen can not avoid it..

Fair enough, but there is "no issue."
Why have this phone if you don't use it? Besides, full screen is probably one way to AVOID burn in.
What are you even talking about?

Yes, this avoids the screen burn. Screen burn only happens because some of the led's are used more than others which is why some degrade faster which results in varying color contrasts. Using full screen almost all the time however, uses all of the led's, thus all of them will degrade at a slightly similar rate and the change of color contrast would not be as noticeable to the common eye.

If you mean stock internet browser it will time out don't know why I streamed hell in a cell last week had the same issue doesn't happen on any other phone I know of just this one...I had to stretch the screen so it looked full screen and it stayed on strange I know

I'm having the same problem not sure why there would be this problem considering no phone for the last 4 years have had this problem. Terrible overt sight by Google/Samsung. Really interested if some one finds the solution to this.
Use Profile Scheduler from the play store it lets you set up a profile with a setting for screen time out never option. Thats the only reason I use it. I listen to alot of music in my truck and it keeps the musoc player from going to sleep.
Screen time out issue is only when watching flash enabled videos in browser.
Reason : Flash is not supported in Jellybean officially,
So just using flashplayer.apk will not rewrite screen timeout settings in system files.
And, smart stay doesn't work in dark room with lights off.

Is the s pen supposed to write on the notepad thing when it is hovering over the screen? Also it will act as if it is touching the screen when it is not...is it supposed to?

You're probably bumping into the "Air view" feature without knowing what it is. I recommend you read the manual to understand all of the awesome functionality, including the cool things that you can do with the S-Pen, that Samsung included with the Note 2. Failing that, you're likely to be posting basic questions like this to the annoyance of many. =)
To turn *off* the hover functionality, go to "Settings | S Pen" and swipe the "Air view" to "off".

I noticed on my new note on dark backgrounds some screen issues. I noticed a purpleish smear when i scroll on some dark background pages. Especially when i was scrolling thru a page here on xda on gray images a purple color smear would appear. Did anybody else come across this issue? Im exchanging it for another one tomorrow.

It won't matter if you exchange it or not. The new screen technology makes the pixels actually turn off so blacks are true blacks. When they turn back on it causes that purple smear, or at least that's the theory prior are saying in other threads about this issue.

I'm noticing this on Tapatalk right now - the purple smear with the brightness all the way down. I don't know about the color, but the squish blurred effect is surely intentional. I'll try messing with some of the color settings to see if it's affected.
