What's with MIUI - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I don't mean to sound like an a*s or be stupid, but WHY????
Miui is practically iPhone.. The whole apple vs android war is a little complicated due to Miui.
Why bother getting an S3 when you just want it to look like apple? Don't get me wrong, it's different, but it cosmetically looks like apple software.. So... Yeah....
Anyone want to discuss? XD

It's just a middle finger to the ifanbois who argue how much better and cleaner/simple iPhone is..thing is, iPhone can't really alter it's UI to match Android, but Android has no qualms of doing this. JoyOS is almost an exact iPhone replica, look that up. MIUI was something started in Asia, you know those crazy Asians do all sorts of generic and off-brand stuff, for all we know it could have been an Android OS developed to go on a iPhone-clone device, seeing as it's easier to build an Android device than an Apple device in a counterfeit factory..somewhere there's a writeup of where it came from on xda..if you search.
Also, FWIW, it's pronounced 'Me-we' or 'Me-U-I'..depending on who you ask.

Try it out yourself, it's not just an iPhone looking thing, it has a lot of themes to chose from and you can alter it any way you want.

Well you should try it before thinking it is exactly like iPhone. The only thing that is like it is the launcher. It has no app drawer, but everything else on MIUI is customize able. You could have one theme for SMS, one for icons, etc. You can't do that on iPhone without jail breaking it. Even then (because I did it on mY iPod touch when I was 8.), the themes for jail broken I phones theme everything. You can't choose a separate theme for everthing. You can change the launcher with anything from the play store. So its not like iOS at all.

Honestly, Touchwiz is a blatant rip-off of iOS's Launcher. Technology has always advanced from taking someone else's work and making it better. I really like MIUI and it's design. Regardless if it's cosmetically similar to iPhone, it's still Android and that's what matters.

MIUI is made for people who like androids customizability and the simplistic style and look of the iphone. If u think it's too ipbone-ish then it wasn't made for you

Sidekick 4g UI will there be a port OR Blur UI just for fun??

will someone port? :] looks pretty cool but kinda laggy due to the fact its basiclly touchwiz but sidekick apps like group n cloud app ports would be cool just my thoughts... anyone else like this idea i mean we only got stock, sense, miui, liquid, and a bit other but some mainstream roms like blur and sidekick would be fun to play with? no?
I don't know about the whole ROM, but being able to add the Jump Key functionality to current ROMs would actually be very nice!
Yeah ik what u mean jump button is ehhhhh I mean if ur like meh can replace my search buttons and I don't mind the ui just the apps uk cuz I think the group texting and I'm apps it comes with are cool I wonder what other ppl think

I'm just being honest here, I have always read that TouchWiz is the worst thing you can do to your poor android. I have seen countless posts here hating on TW. Never tried it myself, but given it's reputation of being pure **** I can't imagine too many people would swap a Sense Rom(which seems to have a rep as being the only OEM mod of Android worth using) for a TouchWiz one(which most people here seem to hate). Just saying.

IMHO just try to get a working TouchWiz launcher. I know TouchWiz is like Samsung's Sense, but there is an older TouchWiz launcher APK floating around on the 'net, I used it on my Nexus One, once.
The new one is nice, though. I have played with it on my wife's Epic. I'd use it.

Why is MIUI so popular?

I have tried the rom, and for the life of me i can't understand why anyone with a brain would want an evo that runs and looks like a piece of **** iphone.
If you are so determined to be another brainless zombie then go buy the iphone and stop polluting the good name of android by using a rom like MIUI.

Fast, efficient, themes, intuitive, GB, tons of built in useful apps...
Sure, not for everyone. You lose Sense. Its not your typical pure AOSP Rom.
But for me, its the best experience possible given my usage habbits.
Why. This is Why!
MIUI just has so much more built in stock! Think of it as an alternative launcher of sorts. Its still android just with MIUI on top. I would compare MIUI to Sense, Launcher pro, spb. They just emphasize the themes more.
Built in FTP, screenshots and eye candy!!!!!
You obviously haven't ran it for longer than a week........
There's more to MIUI than looking like an iPhone. I don't like the iPhone, I don't want an iPhone, but I like MIUI. It runs well, it has some nice rom-specific apps, and with easy theming it looks really nice.
Anyone that has to rant that much about hating the iPhone and anything that looks like it needs to grow up. Sorry. People like what they like, I'm not sure why you think calling people names over personal preference makes you better than them.
My Evo + xda Premium App = This post.
I would like to add that the Iphone is a great phone. I would recommend it for any one not tech savy (intermediate user), on the other hand android is for the more advanced user who is NOT scared to void a warranty lol.
Only self indulgent turds use miui. Its overrated.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
First off lol Iphone is over priced and insane price for the plan. Nothing new about all of them the latest phone's kick the crap outta them. I hate iphone but have nothing against people who like it personal taste.
Miui isn't all that bad it's fun to mess around with to see what you can do with it worth checking out nice features in it. CM7 is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet takes my cake
well i like my LP better on VP3.2 but to each his own, i think miui is a good transition rom for recovering appleoholics like my wife who traded the iphone for an evo, but couldn't really get used to it at first, i gave her miui and earned myself a nice BJ, couple months later made the flash to real android with azrael and, happy ending
lol. I love when people get mad about rom choices. If you actually used MIUI and saw all of the benefits(wireless FTP alone makes it awesome) then you would not cry. It offers things that no other rom offers. It is faster. Because it looks like the iphone you hate it. Why do you hate the iphone, because you love Android? If you love Ford do you have to hate Chevy? Grow up.
When MIUI gets the errors out of GB I'm switching back to it. They were becoming so excellent with 2.2, wimax was around the corner, then GB leaked.
MIUI is a great ROM. Just because it looks like an iPhone launcher doesn't mean it's bad, not at all. If you're going to whine and complain about the iPhone, then do it elsewhere, because I for one don't care. MIUI with Launcher 7 was one of my favorite setups. I had great battery life, the menus are easy to navigate, and it has lots of cool little features. MIUI is a very creative ROM, especially when compared to other ROMs that don't bring anything new to the table.
It seems to me just you're letting your hatred of the iPhone blind you to the greatness that is MIUI.

Well MIUI is MIUI so it is what it is. But with ICS you get hardware support.
G2x - 2.3.7 CM7
Transformer - 3.2 Revolver OC/UV
From the bottom of my heart... ----> **** Miui
Educate yourself!
I have to say that looks just about like past MIUI iterations. And I agree with what someone said earlier in the thread, the launcher does look quite dated. Quite frankly I never did like MIUI because I'm not a fan of imitating the iPhone.
God damn that music app is beautiful.
As much as I hate MIUI's lack of app drawer, I love how everything is skinnable and gets updated frequently with useful content.
Also they just seem to have a better handle on interface design than any manufacturer or in some places even Google themselves.
You are using Android, and you are on a forum called XDA-developers. Presumably you care a little bit about software freedom, openness, being able to tinker and not be limited by what some vendor tells you to do.
So what the hell are you doing with MIUI?

So you're telling people who take advantage of software freedom by using the software of their choice to not use the software they like?
Seems a bit counter-intuitive don't you think?
In fact the very idea behind the "freedom" of Android is the release of free source code for developers to do whatever they want with. The developers behind MIUI just happen to be making something you dislike.
Miui is actually pretty cool if you replace the launcher; the built in customizations are pretty in depth. I agree with most in that I hate the stock launcher and iPhone appearance, but that all easily goes away with ADW or Go!

I have to agree here. Stock ICS is damn good. I used to install all sorts of roms on my N1. I flew stock on my NS for the 9 months I had that, I don't see that changing with the GN, really digging what they've done with this phone and OS.

I personally don't like Miui because its too much like iOS and less like Android but you are so wrong here.
I know bench marks are not worth much but I could get my Nexus S to score over 3000 in Quadrant using Miui. Only Miui. I could not get score's like that with other roms.
Its a very very good rom, just not the Android style.

Ok, I guess I'm dense: I've used ICS for a bit on this device with a couple of the international betas. I've also used the ICS launcher from TeamSyndicate or whatever...
Please lmk what is so groundbreaking and so different in the way ICS handles taskswitching..
If I remember correctly (and I easily might NOT be remembering this right), all ICS does is present your recent apps in a nicer, larger, vertical list after pressing the button for it once instead of the way Gingerbread handles it (presenting them in a grid after long-pressing home).
If there's more to it, please let me know.
If there's not, then you basically started a thread that's complaining about the fact that you have to long-press a button right now, and that you really can't wait until you only have to simply press a button, because that would make your life so much easier.
Did I miss something?

Yup pretty much. Also there arr settting. In launchers that can enable. Up to 16apps or something to be listed in that menu. Same thing, just a few more appz and it looks slightly different. How ever ICS does ring lots of new things in a ALL IN ONE download that plays nicelu with each other. Before you would have to flash several things and spe. D some serious time changing settings to get what ICS already offers which in its self is awesome. Especially for people who have a line and cant always takr the time to flash tons of things and config the more mods everytime a rom requires you to wipe data which gets old really damn quick in my book. Maybe im just getting older or i have owned android too long but i dont like re setting my phone back up. I didnt use to mind it and now i dread it. Atleast even when switxhing between different roms on samsung for the most part you never need to wipe data. In that respect compared to HTC i find Samsung much better and that makes the device worth it right there. With HTC you would loose everything all the time when flashing new roms or even updates. Not to mention you would loose things like your WiMax key's and have to get a nee device just to use Sprints ****ty 4g agan.... Hahaa ok ok its not that funny, more sad about HTC but laughing is how i cope with terrible old memoryz

Im so dyslexic i had to fly to a neigboring island every single day to go to a school to specially for dyslexic kids. I cant help it. I do spell check but i dont see words the same as normal people. You guys are dumb and mean. I even tried using auto correct on my Swift X keyboard but i often spell words so off it outs in some completely different word than i want so it ended up being harder to read than if i dont use it. You shouldnt judge people when you dont know whag personal challanges they have or whats going on with them. Just ignore me instead of insulting me. Im very proud of the challanges i have over come to the extent i have over come them. I have accomplished several things that teachers said i wouldnt be able to do. Things like reading and writing well enough to get through the basics of life. I have learned to build custom desktop computers, started my own VHS to DVD converting company and am a semi pro downhill and free style mountain biker. XDA is full of dicks that say things on here they would never say to some ones face. Get a life and treat people with the respect and love that you would like people to treat you. Then again you may not have much self respect or dignity by your actions of how you treat others.
