That's not correct I'm afraid. Any one x can flash a ruu as long as your bootloader is locked/relocked. I've used 3 ruus on my one x and I'm s-on

If you have a nandroid from before you flashed the custom Rom just use that, but remember to extract the boot.IMG from it and flash that in fastboot first.

first custom rom was paranoid jellybeans and succesfully returned to RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_ARA_1.29.415.11_Radio_1.1204.105.14_release_260742_signed
but when i used OrDroidX_1.3.2 and then tried to revert back i got error 140
relocked the device then tried with the same error
then opened it and installed signed recoveries then relocked it again and also got the same error
could be related to the build no. 2.17 that ordroidx has and the ruu i'm trying to revert back is older ??
Not at all, it's all down to the HBOOT with regards to flashing RUUs - are you sure that's the right RUU for your handset? If you use CIDGetter what do it say the ro.mainversion is?

Step 2: flash stock recovery (if you used CWM before)

How To Update Your HBOOT On CustomROM

ARE YOU ON A CUSTOM ROM TRYING TO UPDATE YOUR HBOOT FOR THE JELLYBEAN ROMS ? WELL HERE ARE THE STEPS
PS : I'M ONLY POSTING THIS BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE ARE SAYING YOU SHOULD BE ON AN ORIGINAL RUU TO UPDATE HBOOT
REQUIREMENTS :
1. The new HBOOT zip provided by Baadnewz or Football
2. PC/Mac/Linux with fastboot files
3. The Jelly Bean ROM file copied to your phone
4. Courage and patience. :highfive:
LET'S START :
1. First lock your One X with the command : fastboot oem lock
. You might get errors on the fastboot command line but that's nothing
2. The phone should reboot to HBOOT with a "RELOCKED" status and "SECURITY WARNINGS" under it. You might not get "SECURITY WARNINGS" but that's nothing.
3. Go into RUU MODE (Yes I said RUU mode on CustomROM) by typing in fastboot mode in the bootloader : fastboot oem rebootRUU and wait about 15 seconds
4. Flash the new HBOOT .zip file with : fastboot flash zip (the name of the zip file).zip
Example : fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
(If you get an error the first time. Flash again it will work)
5. When the process is done exit RUU mode by typing : "fastboot reboot-bootloader" and then re-unlock the bootloader of your device. If you forgot how to just follow the OneXRoot.com steps again.
6. Flash custom recovery again. (pretty much ClockWorkMOD)
7. Flash boot.img of the Jelly Bean ROM.
8. Go into recovery and flash that Jelly Bean ROM
9. Have fun with Jelly Bean
UPDATE : DUE TO A REQUEST, HERE ARE THE CIDs WORKING WITH THE HBOOT UPDATE :

thanks again for the same:good::laugh:
It works with branded phones?
Because my CID is ORANG202.

Hey, I'm at step 5 now, trying to re-unlock, but I can't do the following step:
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
I keep getting ''sending 'unlocktoken' (0 KB)...
FAILED (command write failed (Unknown error))
finished. total time: 0.636s''
What's going wrong?
edit: nevermind lol, bootloader was just stuck for some reason, a reboot fixed it
branded phones JB does not work..wait for the official OTA by the network providers
J-city just a bit of advice I think you need to add the cid's off which it will work on as people will get confused. I been branded no i cant upgrade but as goku said all branded phones will have to wait for out provider to push the ota

You can't till now but I am 100 % there is a workaround
Many people saying I did the same as the Devs did in their tutorials. Actually there are a lot of people stuck in their Bootloaders after re-locking on custom ROMs so there wasn't a way in the Devs tutorial to go straight to RUUmode from bootloader. And that's why I put this thread.

I have not tried it myself but apparently gffmac says it's working. So he must be right. And why do you need to get back to ICS ? Most of the famous custom roms devs are updating their roms to JellyBean
this is the only way that work for me
I try all dev ways but non is working my cidnum: HTC__001
thank you now I will flash JELLY ROM

Glad I helped. That was my intention in the first place. The devs tutorial first made my phone boot directly to the bootloader when I re-locked it. I did some researches and said why not share it with you people to help you. That's what xda is for after all
Thank you so much man!
So this method bypasses the need for having the ruu!
Cool!

What do you mean by "takes off touch capabilities".
If it's in CWM, there's solution like installing Philz Touch Recovery

on phone, after splash screen. The keyboard appears for the pin code but i can't pass from there.
i tried the philz touch recovery as you said by doing a flash recovery throught fastboot but still not working.
Can it be a nandroid backup version problem?

I have a HTC one X here which after an OTA from 4.1 to 4.2 is stuck in airplane mode. This should/could be a problem with the radio firmware. It's CID is locked to VODAP102. Would this update (which has a newer radio firmware) work on this unit? I can't revert back to an older version due to:
1. I don't have a backup of the 4.1 install (only decided to make a nand backup AFTER the OTA)
2. I think the radio or hboot doesn't allow backwards flashing.
The unit currently has hboot 1.72.0000
Radio- 5.1204.164D3.31

Its worth the try and flash the firmware.zip
See if it solves the issue

I flashed the deodexed zip with clockworkmod, but it didn't update the radio. Am I doing something wrong?>

What the radio is the same like in 4.18.401.2, 4.18.401.3 and now in 4.18.401.4 This is the radio in the all this base 5.1204.167.31
That could be the case ofcourse, but the radio on my handset is: 5.1204.164D3.31. At least that is what hboot states.

witch hboot version 1.72 or 1.36? if you are on 1.36 then it is normal to have older radio the radio is in the firmware.zip

Hboot 1.72. I think that is what went wrong with the OTA, but I can't be sure. If I try to use soulfly's endevour 5.1204.167 with RIL update via clockwork it sais it updated the radio but when I reboot hboot still shows the old 164.
link dont work anymore
please fix
server issue is fixed.....
So what do we have to flash. Just the patch?
