Went outside, dropped it somewhere, rang it from home, it wasn't switched off yet, so rushed there and in the meantime tried to use Find My Windows Phone to find/ring( I had it on vibrate) or atleast erase it. Turns out it doesn't work in India :'( Anyway, it was password protected, so they can't bypass it without erasing everything right? And I have my IMEI number and stuff, can someone tell me what to do?

I bought a HTC Desire branded to Orange UK trough eBay when i was working there last month. The First thing i did was to debrand it using the 1.15.405.2 that i found on MoDaCa, and i bought a unlock key on eBay. This solution worked pretty well until the OTA update showed up, the i got the known WiFi issue. That was no biggie either, just installed the RUU of the 1.21.405.2 and the new Radio, and everything seemed to be perfect again
BUT THEN, two days ago, my phone suddenly lost it's connection to the my mobile operator . I tried to swap my sim card with another sim card, and the result was that my HTC Desire wouldn't get connection while my sim card worked well in the other phone. I also browsed trough my menus to try to find something that might be wrong, but no luck. If i tried to connect to my mobile operator manually, i got a message saying something like "SIM-card doesn't allow connection to this network".
Yesterday morning, i called HTC to try to find out if this might be a hw or sw malfunction, and he advertised me to do a factory settings restore and felt pretty confident that it only was the sw letting me down. I did as he suggested and boom, it worked...for about 5-6 hours, then it came back. As if that wasn't annoying enough, a factory settings restore didn't do the trick this time, and neither did a reflash with the goldcard. I even formated my mSD to be sure there wasn't any kind of virus on it.
So please, if anyone in here got a tip regarding sw, let me know. I'm helpless without my dear phone...
Hmmm this is my biggest concern... I'm just about to buy an ebay Orange Desire and flash it with a stock ROM and unlock it.... kinda worrying as I'm no Linux man really...
im not sure if its the same thing but i have lost conection to t mobile on my desire twice now. first time was fixed by re entering the apn. this time no change. the differance is mine is un branded. i also cant do mms any more.
Unbranded and debranded, same ****, isn't it? Niter means branded...
Seems like i'm not the only one with this problem: http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/topic/5...nt-re-connect/page__view__findpost__p__405655
Lots of Vodafone users in that forum has similar issues, but most of them seems to have a workaround by turn off the back on, or go by airplane mode to get signal back, tat doesn't work for me. I tried to flash my phone once more, but still no luck.
I'm considering a root operation and install android 2.2 aka froyo, but i'm not even sure if that is possible since i got the bootloader version 0.80...
ive just got mine working again by resting the apns to default.
mms still not working though. i hope its not a voda problem i just paid off t mobile a years contract to join voda due to terrible reception and crap tech support.
what is that, and how do you do it? I would guess that a reset to factory default and/or a complete reflash would take care of such, whatever it is...
Yep I was about to ask the same thing! what is it and how do you turn it on/off?
go to settings - wirless & networks - mobile networks - access point names - then press the menu key and hit reset to default.
hope this helps you
That did the same thing as a "reset to factory defaults", but still doesn't work
I've an unbranded unlocked desire on 3 UK with original firmware and mine does drop out occasionally but always comes back perhaps its a desire quirk !

Suppose so, but unlike you and many others, mine doesn't come back I was hoping for a fix for this issue, but i'm afraid were talking about hw malfunction, let's hope i'm wrong...
Little update, just followed this guide, but that didn't change anything. As far as i know, i now got some kind of rooted version of HBOOT 0.75 and fw.ver. 1.15.405.4, dunno about radio version. But it also says that i'm not able to install a custom rom with this rooted version, but i might be able to completely root it now and then install a custom rom?
Yet another update, i did install the 2.2 Froyo following this guide, and unlike the HTC roms, this one indicates that i do have full/optimal connection to my mobile operator, but it still won't let me call, just replies with 'Mobile network not available'.
I kinda courages me to scream out loud ****!!! Yes, i mean it...
Feedback would be nice
Just a thought, may i be that the guy i bought the phone from could have reported it as stolen with the intention of getting an insurance fee? And as a result of that, my phone have been closed by the operator? Don't even know if they mind doing such across the border. So the question would be: Is there any way to find out if my phone has been remotely closed?
Call your carrier.... they will be able to tell you if the phone is connecting to the nextwork correctly... ask them if not... why not?
I second that suggestion, try calling your carrier. Also I have found that switching the internet on directly through settings rather than using the widgets solved my connection problem.

Yep, i got contact with the seller from eBay, and he is very helpful, so he will do what he can while i will call my carrier first thing in the morning. Seems like there might be a glitch here, but i'll keep you updated on my progress.
argh, it seems like i wont get anywhere with my phone. I'm considering trying to change the IMEI, i know it's illegal, but i paid £360 for this device, and atm it's useless to me. If i only knew how tho change the imei, not exactly easy information to obtain, not even with google...

So have you found out why your having problems?
ah, sorry, thought i already told u guys, lol. Well, for some reason the phone is IMEI locked. The seller says that he did call to lock a sim card when he lost his iphone, and it might be related since it's the sim that was suppose to be in my phone. however, i think he either claimed the phone stolen to commit insurance fraud, or it's simply stolen. Another thing i came across was that the operator might blacklist the phone if it's unlocked without their blessing, don't really know if they can do that.
Either way, the only way for me to make this phone work is to convince the police that it's not stolen (i need a recite for that which he won't provide me), or to change the imei code with my "awesome" hacking skills...
I have a very big problem on my XDA IIs, i cannot unlock the phonelock even though i input the correct password.
-on my way home, my phone got emptied(battery empty). and then when i opened it, the problem began. please help me. what should i do?
-i have read articles stating that it is a common problem when the battery got emptied.
-my phone is an O2 xda IIs WM 6.5, serial 2.7.
-ty for the reply....
as i told you via pm already, there is no way to unlock the phone, once you set a password. the phone "forgets" the right password and would say, any password you put in, is wrong. that is why the only way to get rid of the problem is to re-flash the phone. a hard reset won't work, since that would be a terrible theft protection and also there is no way to backup any data, since even connected to the pc you are not given any access to the phone. that is why, in several threads here, and in several positions in my tutorial, i warn people, not to set a password in a cooked rom. you can do it in the stock wm2003 rom though, it works perfectly fine.
if you feel the need to protect your phone using a password, you need to look for 3rd party software to do that. i think spb has a nice app for that.
Hi there,
I am totally lost on the nexus by now. I dont know what to do anymore.
I have previously had it just running on the docomo 4.0.2 but wanted
to have upgrades faster so I decided to flash to 4.0.4 official version.
However then the Simlock struck, and I couldnt use my phone anymore.
I tried several methods but none of them seem to have been working on.
Also I dont have the original docomo rom anymore and dont know how to
get it. So now I flashed back to 4.0.1 original google rom, but it seems only
worse, my sim card doesnt even get recognized properly now as it doesnt
even accept the pin, also the unlock code question keeps popping up permanently when I try it with another sim card that has no pin, which is really annoying.
****Docomo App doesnt work either as it seems, I start it and theres just a black
screen coming and then Im back to the home screen.
Im really lost now... any ideas....? Anyone maybe the docomo rom?
Docomo unfortunately does really suck, originally I paid them to unlock it
(I do live in Taiwan). However now I cant get in touch, their phone cannot
be called via skype and they dont have any email...
best regards
/edit
Ok, now I finally made it after flashing 4.0.2 back to it and then the ****Docomo app worked...!
Now all I need to figure out is how to update to 4.0.4 since I accidently pushed notification of the update away

Try the method on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1391881&highlight=docomo
Worked for me, and I'm a noob!
cheers for that but ive tried it with no joy
sad story... though I think learning about simlock and how to break it is the first step of flushing roms
Jep search some options online to remove that simlock or go to a store in your town. Frombwhat i know those settings are stored on the /device partition wich can not be flashed (your imei and device id are kept there as well but using #*#*...*#*# you can unlock your simlock were ... is a calculated code from imei, device id and device type... using online calculators will cost you like 5 dollar or so. Visiting a phonestore is most likely the same price but 100% ensurance that the code given is legit

Sorry guys but its really not that easy, and an unlock code doesnt only cost 5
bucks, they usually charge you 30 bucks for an unlock code of the Docomo
Nexus, plus all unlock pages havent been able to supply one recently as they
couldnt get any codes.
Besides, now my Nexus just locked randomly again after turning it off and on,
very annoying.
I also cannot just go to any store here in Taiwan as it is DOCOMO locked.
I would have to contact Docomo, however I cant even reach the English
hotline of them in Japan, so no Chance.
Means gotta flash it back to 4.0.2 today use the f docomo app and give it
another unlock.

I just had to wait... all other methods didnt work for me either...

cheers dude but i gave up and sent it back. got a uk version of amazon sim free for another £90 yeah more money but think its worth it in the long run.
Yaeh... I made sure mine was simlock-free when I bought it. My ex had to go back to her official t-mobile factory rom to unlock hers, since unlock was only possible with a code in their modified rom....
Good thing for her was that i kept a full system backup of her stock rom.

Hello guys, I have a problem and I need help.
Some days ago I dropped my HOX from a height of a chair to the ground, with the front glass facing down the floor, I got it and nothing happened, not a single scratch...so I got it and putted it in my pocket.
I noticed sometime after that it was really hot at the upper right, where we put the sim card, then when I looked at the phone it had lost signal, and none of operators(tried all of them) worked anymore.
I tried reseting, tried force/hard reset and still lost signal..., I sent it to my seller and he said he opened it, and everything was normal and working, it recognizes the sim card, but can't get signal.
He said that the IMEI is "locked", and when he goes in the settings or try to put the numbers on the dialer to get the IMEI it shows nothing.
If I install a custom rom can I get rid of this problem ?, the HOX recognize when the chip is inserted, but don't get any signal.
Sorry for my English, I'm from Brazil, correct me if needed.
Thanks.
my imei disappeared, then reappeared after a reboot.
if it isn't getting any better after factory reset, then try another known good sim card. failing that it'll need to be repaired, because you dropped it though it'll probably cost ya!
It seems we have a similar, if not the same problem.. I lost my signal, imei number shows unknown as does my baseband in "about phone" I also remember dropping the phone on the screen a couple of days before. Can I ask if your baseband also shows "unknown" on yours" its in setting, about phone, software info I think....
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda app-developers app
it does show the baseband version, but remember that mine came back after a reboot.
try a factory reset..
Doh! I tried that and no luck.. flashed ruu multiple times and that didn't work either.. I'm stuck!

ouch. at this point, it looks like hardware
do you have insurance?
Hi there,
For more than a year ago, I found this LG E-975 at my work after closing (I work at a restaurant/night club) and tried to find the owner..posted on social media, asked guests and waited for anybody to turn up, but no one came in and asked for it..so after around two months I turned it in to the police (swedish) and after almost 9 months I got a letter from them that I could come and collect it as mine, because no owner was found..
However..
I'm an apple-user (prepared to be hanged until dead) and found this phone when i was cleaning som boxes out, and was remembered why it was put there...it's a passcode on it, and I don't know if you can restore it without the passcode or so..
Was thinking to give it to my stepmother or little sister when it is of no use to me, but want to restore it before and make it usable first (of course..)
Have never used a LG in my entire life, (except for the tv) so I have no idea of what program to use or anyting..
Is there someone who know what I can do?
I'm on Windows 7, 64-bit if it helps anyting
Regards,
Jesper
