I have a very big problem on my XDA IIs, i cannot unlock the phonelock even though i input the correct password.
-on my way home, my phone got emptied(battery empty). and then when i opened it, the problem began. please help me. what should i do?
-i have read articles stating that it is a common problem when the battery got emptied.
-my phone is an O2 xda IIs WM 6.5, serial 2.7.
-ty for the reply....
as i told you via pm already, there is no way to unlock the phone, once you set a password. the phone "forgets" the right password and would say, any password you put in, is wrong. that is why the only way to get rid of the problem is to re-flash the phone. a hard reset won't work, since that would be a terrible theft protection and also there is no way to backup any data, since even connected to the pc you are not given any access to the phone. that is why, in several threads here, and in several positions in my tutorial, i warn people, not to set a password in a cooked rom. you can do it in the stock wm2003 rom though, it works perfectly fine.
if you feel the need to protect your phone using a password, you need to look for 3rd party software to do that. i think spb has a nice app for that.

I saw a post on here about the progs in the windows/startup folder. Someone mentioned that removing the "connections" executable file had made their XDA more stable. It seems to be the exe that places the O2 icon on the task bar at the top of the screen.
I tried just that...moved the file out of startup to a temp backup folder and did a soft reset.
That was a couple of days ago and I haven't had to reset since Previously I was having to reset 3 or 4 times a day just through very light use!
Thanks for the suggestion Wilesd
Hmm not sure what .exe you are talking about in the windows\StartUp folder.
All I have there are:
Code:
aPerSaveStark.lnk
Camera_Detect.lnk
CheckAutoRun.lnk
ChgDfLnk.lnk
cPerSaveStar.lnk
IA_Caller_ID.lnk
nPerSaveStar.lnk
O2 Connect.lnk
poutlook.lnk
RegNotify.exe
Run_BTTrayCE_10.lnk
Spb GPRS Notify.lnk
STK.lnk
tPerSaveStar.lnk
As you can see.. The only .exe I have is the RegNotify.exe.
The closest that I get to O2 is the O2 Connect.lnk shortcut..
Is that the one you moved?
I don't have the "02 Connect" link in my startup. The file I moved was called "Connections". I can't see on my pda what the file extension is so I don't know if it was a .lnk or a .exe. The mention in the previous post I got the info from was that it was an executable though.
THIS is the post I saw it in.
Maybe it's a country specific thing ?
After all the crashing I was getting with the 1.31 ROM and O2 Active which I never used I decided to do the Corporate install that does not put on the O2 Active rubbish. My phone has not crashed since before I was getting at least 4-5 lockups a day!
Glad I could help, anyway I had to hard reset mine after i installed some dodgy camera upgrade Cab file so decided to give the "Corporate" option ago this time, just select Corporate during the Boot up and type 0506 when it asks for a corporate code.
No looking back now, basically you get a clean WM2003SE install without ANY O2 rubbish but all the GPRS configs etc.. intact. I have not had to do a single reset since.
Recommend this method to any fed up with the O2 active stuff screwing up your IIs. I can honestly say I can't fault the device now.
Thanks for the info guys.
I been holding back from doing the ROM update on my XDAIIs due to everyone saying they have to keep sot reseting their device.
I've just removed the connections.exe from startup folder on my existing setup - make sure i'm happy to carry on without the O2 icon at the top.
Will let you know how I get on.
Thanks again.
Great I shall try this tomorrow.
I've been getting regular crashes on my XDA 2s since I upgraded to the latest ROM.
D
Thanks, removed the O2 connections as suggested 2 days ago and have not needed to reset since.
Was having to reset 2 or 3 times a day since I'd upgraded.
difference between corporate and personal
Whats the difference between corporate and personal mode?
Corporate mode basically doesnt install O2 Active at all so you're left with the default windows screen (presumably so you could customise with your own corporate guff)

Thanks and what do you mean "0506" as corporate code?
thanks ...yellow screen?
thanks guys the corp version seems to do the trick, look very stable now. who need o2 crap. however i can't fail that notice that the screen is slightly yellow from certain angles. it look whitish when you are right in front of it but from any other angle it looks yellowish...anyone else with similar screens? don't remember this to be the case with my previous trusted xda 2...it's a nice device though...

It seems to be a thing with the latest XDA2 "s" and "i" models as it didn't happen on the original XDA2. I did read that the original had Sony screens but the newer ones are made by someone else.
Regardless of this minor inconvenience, I do think the new screens are much brighter that the previous ones...Just my opinion of course

increase brightness levels
yes they are brighter indeed...also, the xda2s by default reduces the light of the screen to conserve power when used on a battery...if you fix this the yellowish feel goes almost away...why can't they get their sceens right, same probs with bloody apple products, don't they understand that their screen are the most important interface with their devices...

connections.exe in start up
I removed the connections as advised in my XDA IIs and yes it did improve the stability, but after several days I found that even though the PDA was working well the phone would not work properly, either the phone would lock or it would not dial out, or you would answer a call but the caller could not be heard. On two occasions my blue tooth connection was lost. though this only happened on the first day. This was solved by a soft reset. So I have come to the conclusion that yes connections is the trigger but also it dose serve some purpose. I am therefore going to use the corporate mode which seems to be a common solution on many forum topic subjects. I hope this feedback helps others.
I have only just got an XDA2s & noticed that I was resetting 5 or more times per day. I have now removed connections.exe from the startup folder and also removed all references to O2 Active from the Today program and the Start Menus
I'll post results in a few days

I tried corporate mode with removed connections.exe and installed beta of the new today screen.
I have noticed an issue with losing connections too, and your comment about not hearing caller reminds me that happened to me but I thought nothing of it at the time.
I have noticed a bit of a pattern to the not dialling out issue
Basically if the phone loses all connection for a while (not sure how long) then it seems to not get it back when you get to an area you can receive. A soft reset sorts this out.
But this is highly annoying for me, I live in London and go to work on the underground (subway to you yanks) and when I come out if I forget to reset my BA it will not receive calls or dial out.
XDA IIs Stability
What ROM version or versions are you all using?
I'm also having to reset my XDA a couple of times of day and would like to improve on the stability of the device. I've looked in my \Windows\startup and have various links (one is O2 Connect) and two executables (CommLoader.exe and RegNotify.exe).
Also, when I have had to do a hard re-set I have never gotten the option of 'Corporate or Personal'. Probably because of different ROM versions.
Also have any of you experienced problems with the Bluetooth no starting because of low memory on a regular basis?
Do any of you have an O2 XDA IIs from Asia?
Thanks
No resets in 3 days now I've removed connections.exe & stop using O2 Active UI Not using corporate mode though - I'm not brave enough yet to try upgrading my ROM
Hi guys,
Recently installed the latest ROM offered by O2 onto my XDA2s, having firstly been incredibly frustrated that I'd lost all my txt messages and installed applications, I have since found that the phone locks up almost daily now - it particularly seems to be whenever switching the phone on/off with the topright power button - at which stage it'll just freeze.
Sometimes when making a call, I'll dial the number, and when ringing starts, switch the phone display off so as to save batteries, when doing the same since the ROM update, the phone seems to hang.
VERY frustrated, anyone any ideas, or experiencing the same?
Another question, with Bluetooth Audio, is there any way to stream a telephone call through my PC via a bluetooth link allowing me to chat/hear through the PC instead of the phone?
And finally, does anyone else find the Network Connections settings on the PocketPC OS incredibly stupid, confusing and impossible to accurately setup for Internet access through Wireless/Bluetooth??
Cheers, Ash

follow the above thread. I found by doing what it said about removing o2 active stuff I havent had to soft reset since..
I would also add that I have also upgraded to radio rom 1.12.00 and Blue tooth 3900 (shortly after so not certain it was due just to that but likely)
If I can be any help at all PM me and I will try and assist maybe talk on instant messenger..
But I must repeat it hasnt locked since the above and the battery life seems much much greater.... for instance I left it on from 6pm last night until 7am this morning and it appeared to loose only 10% battery including making a couple of calls..
I would do it again with and uk xda2s
Hope that helps
as for the rest of your questions no idea LOL
Stay happy
Thanks for your reply, I did install the upgrade in Corporate mode having read that thread first, but its still installed all the O2 Active stuff - so should I now remove the bits from my Startup folder that relate to O2?
Also, I now cannot find any easy way to disconnect GPRS once its connected????
yep
I would get rid of the active bits as said.. to disconnect gprs simply press and hold the red hang up button
I will look again at your posts and answer anything else I can.. dont know if you have noticed but this site is slow so sorry for the delay in replying
have you upgraded the radio rom and BT version?????
stay happy
did you enter a corporate code when setting up in corporate mode?
0506 i belive
stay happy
Ahhhhh, I thought Corporate Code was for the screen password lock or something, so I just entered my usual code - should I rewrite the rom upgrade again, or can I run the setup program separately on the XDA to enter the 0506 code??
I'm currently running...
Rom V: 1.31.00 WWE
Rom Date: 12/13/04
Radio V: 1.06.00
Protocol: 1337.38
ExtRomV: 1.31.139 WWE
Is that the latest? got from the official O2 website.
Thanks also for the GPRS disconnect, that helps, shame it doesn't tell you, hehe!
you should just be able to do a hard reset and put it into corporate mode. do a backup first though..
The versions you are running are the latest from O2 I think.... however you can find the ones I am using on this forum... I have found them much better and if you are going to do a hard reset you might want to do them first....
anything else just shout..
stay happy
Yeah but if you back up then you are backing up the O2 active stuff as well. When you do a hard reset and choose corporate ok. But when you use backup restore the O2 active gets restored. I use Sprite as backup and i can't see offhand how to backup everything EXCEPT the O2 active stuff so that it won't reinstall on a restore. I've manually put back all my progs etc and then backed up so O2 Active won't come back.
I have to say that the latest O2 Rom update using the personal rather than corporate mode is a disaster. My phone was locking up every day. I was getting really p***** off with it. Now I have got shot of the O2 active stuff everything works fine.
Hi
Here are the instructions I got form Brian at O2 data Support. Back up to PC rather than storage card and restore from there. Here goes:
Workaround - setup a 'Corporate' install that doesn't include the Active
User Interface
Before starting insure important data is saved by syncing to Outlook on your
PC if needed (do not use backup/restore)
* Hard reset.
* Near the end of the custom applications auto-install you will be
given a choice of "Corporate" or "Personal". You should choose "Corporate".
Note: you will only have approx 5 seconds to choose this option, after which
the 'Personal' option will be automatically selected
* You will be asked for a pin. Enter 0506 (that's zero five zero
six) and tap Finish
* You will see the message "Welcome corporate user, O2 Active won't
be installed". Your device is now ready and you will have everything except
the Active User Interface.
Important: the mobile web, WAP and mms settings WILL still be preset.
Hope this helps
Regards
Chris
I've read the wiki and faqs beforehand. Now, with that out of the way here's my issue. I need to either hard reset or reinstall a new rom on my t-mobile branded dash. Here's the constraints
1) left soft key doesn't work, but all other buttons do.
2) I can't activesync and I've never synced the phone to a computer before.
That's it.
I recently posted a couple questions because the phone got oil damage and wouldn't start up. Well... i fixed that, but for some reason when booted up, it automatically locked the keys. I would normally click left soft key and * , but of course... left soft key doesnt work. Therefore, a traditional hard reset won't work, and if it could, well... i'd just unlock my keys right. Since this was my mothers phone, i never needed to sync it and I tried syncing a few minutes ago and get nothing. That's probably because the phone is locked.
The phone is carrier unlocked and runs on att network.
Common guys... need your help on this one. Either a way to unlock to keys or a way to hard reset would be good... as long as the hard reset doesn't result in a fresh os that starts up with keys locked.
Look below and download the new 6.1 Rom and then navigate here on how to set up the rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=415225
Follow those instructions and it will work for you.
well thanks, but step 1 is not possible. In my original post, i mentioned that i can't sync because 1) the phone has never been synced before and 2) my comp, which already has activesync installed for my hermes, doesn't recognize the device in the usb port.
Yeah dude, can't even run the sda unlocker man. It asks to connect my phone. Whats up on an old school sd rom install.. oh yeah, that violates the first law.
So, there seem to be two rules. No left soft key and no activesync. HELP?
im me if you think you can help

remote hard reset
ATT says that they can remotely do a hard reset from their corporate fortress of pain and suffering. I will allow them to rape my data stream in an effort to free my soul of the keylock demons. I will have plenty of holy water... so don't you worry.
Maybe try a program like my mobiler or True Connect Pro. You could possibly put the cabs on your SD mini card and control your mobile thru your pc and clear your storage to hard reset. Your probably still going to need active sync but do your research just to be sure.
Honestly I think your phone is fubar. If you spilled some oil inside it and buttons are not working it's only a matter of time where more problems will occur.
Good Luck
your right... it had a good 2 week run after the oil spill. Now, even though yesterday it was charging and starting fine, today it wont charge or start. Oh well... i give up.. anyone need a new battery?
is there a password software for BA wm6.5???
some members here said passwords are bugs in cooked roms and therefore do not work properly...
looking forward for replies...
thanks...
Yes the password has bugs in it in wm6.5, so it may work for a while, but eventually you will be unable to unlock your phone. I used organic lock for a while, but stopped once my BA stopped being my PDA and just became my phone.
i know password doesn't work...well, they worked once but i have to hard reset my BA to be unlocked...
so, any password software won't work on wm6.5?
I think password software will work, as long as it is not the built in one.
i think so too...
does anyone know a not built-in password software?
hi,
you can try using S2U2 made by a_c. basically, it is a program that show you an iphone lock screen on your WM device, it comes with a password locked features, so you just configure it to enable locking once your device is being turned on
hope that helps you. fyi, I'm using it right now and so far its good and stable
Hey, so I changed the password on my phone about 3 weeks ago, no issues since then...till about 3 hours ago. My phone seems to have changed the password on me. I've tried entering my new password multiple times, old password, last 4 digits of my phone number, 0000, 1234, etc and nothing has worked. I know how to bypass a password on Windows computers, so is there a way to do that with WM6.5? I really hate to hard reset my phone again because I have a bunch of new numbers I haven't backed up, and since its locked itself out I've gotten about 20 texts and I don't know how many emails that I would like to read. Emails not a problem, texts...yeah. Anyways, HELP PLEASE!
Password issue (too)
The exact same thing happened to me!! I'm so p!ss3d!! I did nothing to my Tilt2 to cause this. It just suddenly changed and now I cannot even reload the ROM because WMDC won't connect without it being unlocked. Just last week I loaded the latest Energy ROM dated 24 July. Could this be a ROM related issue? Looks like a Hard Reset is next!
I also had this problem. Had a look around and people seem to suggest it happens when the battery goes on low power (for me, I turned my device off - long press on off button), and after turning on I couldn't get back into my phone. The only solution I have seen is to hard-reset (a real problem as I had encrypted the SD card!). So now I am really wary using the password, but I really dislike my data being unprotected.
