That's generally a ROM specific addition to the OS. What ROM are you using?

Never mind, the option to turn it on is now found in developers options from the settings menu.
It used to be defaulted on, but in the latest build looks like you have to select it.
Great ROM .....!

Factory reset question

During my latest factory resort I did the whole pus volume up + home + power sequence. When I got to theme boot screen I had all the usual stuff but I noticed that at the bottom was the green android guy laying down with his chest open and a red exclamation mark coming out of it. Is this normal?

if you are planning to root your phone, i'd suggest get TWRP recovery instead of CWM, a lot more friendly to use.
Yeah. Soooo many things to choose from now lol

Phone changes to settings by itself

I have an issue with my phone that when everytime I enable/disable Wifi, turn on/off data, or try to connect to GPS the phone would go into the settings app by itself. I'd go back to the previous app I was in and it would go back to settings again and this loop would happen for one or two more times before it stops
This happens everytime and I'm getting really annoyed. Any help would be great.
Are you stock? Stock rooted? Are you on a custom rom?

The first thing you tried was a factory reset, I'm guessing?
Back up your data, do a full wipe and reflash the rom, if the problem still occurs find a different rom or try a earlier version of the rom.

Can't boot into recovery

I know it sounds stupid but I unrooted my nexus 7 flo about a month ago for kitkat but since today no kitkat was announced for the nexus 7 and some 4.4 build have started to show up I decided to root it back.
But I have a problem , holding power, volume up and volume down buttons doesn't make my device boot into recovery.
In the past I rooted and unrooted many times, I know how all that work but now I have a problem.
Any help? Thanks

Try quick boot app

Quick boot only work if you have root access as far as I know.

It is power and volume up to get in to recovery.
Power and volume down will get you to the bootloader.

[Q] Did I hardbricked my nexus 7?

I was flashing CM11 on my nexus 7 2013. Upon rebooting, it froze at the boot up load screen so I went to force shut down my nexus by pressing the power button.
Now when I turn on my nexus 7, it will display this pixelised/snowy/static screen as shown in the picture. dropbox.com/s/kdw117hbgn4ztpw/IMG_20140217_041652.jpg
(sorry I cannot attach the photo in this post, please go to the link above)
I tried pressing power and up button, power and down button, all 3 buttons but none would boot me into the recovery mode. Is there anything I can do now? Any help is really appreciated. Thank you
Power and volume up would be the correct combo.
Did you try holding both till the splash screen shows and then just releasing power?
You are technically not hardbricked .it gives power to the device. Harbricked means no power at all.

I tried, it doesnt go into any spash screen. It just stays at the snowy screen.
When i press down power and down button, I actually get the print screen sound. So is there a possibility that the software is working but when i flashed I screwed up the hardware?
Sounds like you borked your bootloader. You should be able to use wugs toolkit to restore to factory stock

What rom are you wanting this on. Almost all aosp roms have that option most require you to turn it on in the hidden developers menu.
