Is there a way to right-align Hebrew text when writing on a Xperia Arc S (e.g., in messaging) without using a Hebrw interface? (That is, Hebrew is enabled as an input language but the interface language is English).
Thx
EDIT - change to correct right-to-left to right-align
Yes,
go to language and input settings
Then goto keyboard settings
Then change language in the input language
I did it and it works, sys norwegian, txt input hebrew

I go into Langage & Input .
Looking under Keyboard & input methods, I have:
Default (allows me to choose between the options listed below, it's currently set to Xperia keyboard)
Chinese keyboard
Google voice typing
Xperia Japanese keyboard
Xperia keyboard
Each of these has a settings button. Going into the settings for Xperia keyboard, I have Writing languages, but if I select only Hebrew I can't type in English and it's still left-aligned anyway*. Am I in the right place?
*I wasn't clear in my original post - I have right-to-left text, but it's always left-aligned unless I'm in the Hebrew interface; I want to right-align it when writing in Hebrew.
Hmm, right-align hebrew isnt possible i think

It seems to be possible at least in principle 0 like I mentioned, it does work when the interface is in Hebrew (and FWIW, I can get right-justification with an English interface on a Galaxy S2, which is also an Android phone)

im experiencing problem while running new gingerbread keyboard.
I'm croatian and prefer qwertz keyboard over qwerty, so while using sense roms i just sticked to Deutschland language settings. I even got specific letters like š and č while long pressing on basic letter (s and c).
In cm7 i started with german language to get qwertz, but specific letters are missing. When i change settings to croatian, which is on the list in cm7, i get keyboard which doesnt show all numbers on long press(they dont even show above letters - see pic). Specific letters are not working as well.
Anyone knows how im supposed to fix this, and whats it all about?

Sense roms are different to non sense roms. Non sense use the stock Google keyboard. You could try to download another keyboard from the market or have a look around in the dev section. But if you looking for something similar to the sense keyboard then I don't know.
thank you for response.
i know about differences between sense and non sense, was just wondering whats wrong with gingerbread keyboard, look at screenshot, it got 1,2,4,5 and 0 only on long press, cant find logic behind that... so thought its bug or something like that
That isn't how it's supposed to be (neither on mine). Try 'MultiLing keyboard' on the market. It's the GB keyboard in a few styles with great fixes (and many languages supported but you must install their dictionaries through the app).

i tried multilang keyboard and i love it, but it doesnt fix the problem for me - there is no croatian language, so i stick with german for now, cos its only one with qwertz...
i did tweet dev about including croatian tho...
thanks for help
i found working solution for myself -> using htc ime mod by Jonasl, i got qwertz again plus all country specific letters i need
in case anyone wants it - its here(you have to install clicker.apk and htc_ime.apk with file manager -> do not flash it), i even added gingerbreadish theme so it fits better in cm7
all credits go to Jonasl for his mod and gIMpSTa for his theme kitchen
it works for me on cm7 nightly, should on oxygen as well
this is how it looks:

to this?
If you long press in the writing area, you'll get the option to change input method and there you'll be able to shift between keyboards. For example, if you have installed Swype, it'll be shown there.
I'm just have this option
That's because you don't have any other keyboard installed on your phone.
There are numerous keyboards available on the market. Personally, I prefer Swype 3.0 beta. You can find it here <beta.swype.com/>
Other keyboards you could try out are SwiftKey, SlideIT, TouchPal etc. Just have a look at the android market.
You can do it SE keyboard.
It will automatically change to tat one when you typing in numbers field(Phone no.)
Try some other keyboard like BetterKeyboard.
If it just appear on the number field, then the alphabet on the number is useless, right?

Yeah,tat is useless.

no, I'm not ask about method to change keyboard, but I want to change the keyboard into dial number like my first post
Well, you can do that with Swype. (I am talking with reference to Swype as that's my preferred keyboard).
To display the numeric keypad, press the Swype key + 5.
And you should get this.
If this was useful, use the Thanks button.
BTW, CNET has a helpful article on 7 Swype keyboard tips for better Swyping. Do check it out if you end up getting Swype.
Cheers!
Well, uhh, the dial number doesn't got alphabet like my first post huh? =p thanks anyway

I can't vouch for it as I've never tried it but the (EvenBetter)NumberPad Keyboard seems to have what you seem to be looking for.
Also you can try Better Keyboard.

Hello,
Currently my hardware keyboard only supports Spellchecking in Italian or English. However, I’m Dutch, so 95% of all words are red underlined.
In the software keyboard, I can choose Dutch as spellchecking language. However, for the hardware keyboard, I can only choose Italian or English.
How can I disable spellchecking or change this language into Dutch for the hardware keyboard ?
I already did a quick search and found one topic which is about the same issue. Sadly, no solution is given.
I’m rooted with S-OFF and have Virtuous Sense 2.0.0 with Unity V4 installed.
Thank you very much !
Or does someone know where the spellchecking language file for the hardware keyboard is stored ?
A friend of mine has a Desire Z which has Dutch spellchecking on his hardware keyboard, so I could ask him to give me the correct files.
Thanks
EDIT: Now this is interesting..
Code:
adb shell getprop

How can I change this into Dutch/NL ? I can't find it anywhere...
hi, same problem here.
i'm italian and my hardware keyboard is EN.
this happens since i switched to gingerbread.
all previous froyo roms don't underline italian words.
same problem for me. I am from Serbia..
also when I tap to move the cursor, phone select whole word and open suggestion pop-up and place cursor to the end of word that's frustrating for me
one language only
Same here. I only have EN for my qwerty keyboard.
Good news already, that being on Virtuous 2.0.0 I at least have suggestions when typing on physical qwerty, so it will sooner or later learn my words
I just wanna find a file to replace, too.
same here - i'm polish and have english spell check enabled. I would like to disable it at all or just use polish one... it pisses me off ;/
any update in that topic? ;/
changing spellcheck language
Ok, our phones can spellcheck in portrait mode typing on the Android keyboard in our native languages, I mean the ones that we use our phones in.
I do not see why it couldn't at least suggest the words other than English when typing on the hardware QWERTY.
The input menu for the hardware keyboard only brings up English.
I think it is just a question of some .ini or .key files or something.
Do devs know what to do??? If someone knows something, please post.
I would turn it off. It's good for nothing. I can write all by myself without using help of some programme. But, what I need is to move between words to correct misspelling. And in that case, I'm probably gonna throw my phone through window. If someone find the solution for turning the spell checker off, please share you solution with us.
I have the exactly same problem. I'm finnish. Almost every single word is underlined (understandably, as the English spellchecker thinks I'm writing gibberish) and if I want to edit a word, I will have to erase it entirely and write it again thanks to the suggestions. This is really frustrating, I'd turn the spellchecker off the first chance I get.
How do you make it show the keypad?
One 1 particular website I visit it will always show in keypad mode (which I want). However on other sites it will only display the full keyboard which annoys me when I want to input numbers. Is there a way to make it display?
Can post screenshots if needed.
You should have a little button on the bottom left to turn it to numbers and special charters like! !?)#-,(/

yes I do have that but that is not a keypad. When you press that button you are greeted with the following.

The keypad I am talking about is the following.
Please note that this is not the 1st keyboard available in the keyboard layout section. In that layout the numbers whilst in a keypad style are in the middle of the screen. Surely there is a way to get to that screen with a shortcut.
is this you're looking for?
go to settings>language and input>xperia keyboard(if youre using xperia keyboard),click the settings at right corner>personalization guide>then you can change the layout of your keyboard.
No that is the keyboard layout section that i was referring to earlier.
This seems to be an almost hidden keypad available with the "Full keyboard". I literally only find it available on that website. I want it available on all websites.
I also have had a web site asking for just a zip code pull up just the daily pad. It may have been triggered by the web pages html code. I have seen the option in keyboard settings, but have no idea how to switch while typing.

No. He (and I, and a few others also) meant the Full Keyboard, but at certain apps, it request the number pad only. And it forces that layout, just like T9, but the rest is on the full QWERTY.
hi,
i am testing the audio record app, and transcription only works if you record a voice speaking in english.
any idea how add another language?
thx for helping
You need to
1. Open Live Transcribe & Sound Notifications (app)
2. Press on settings (lower left corner, next to the keyboard symbol)
3. More Settings
4. Scroll down to the section Audio & language and there you can add/change Primary language and Secondary language.
Be aware though that - as far as I remember - the recorder app only supports English and since the release of A12 also Japanse, French and German. So if you want another language to function, it won't do.
Edit: I checked and yep, those are the only supported languages.

thxx a lot, but due to translation i guess, i dont find the app you call live transcrive, could you post an icon?
thxx a lot for your time
That was a typing error, sorry, it's Transcribe, with a B and not with a v.
this is what i get, the green or blue one?
The symbol should look like this
You should be able to find it under Accessibility, my rusty french says it should resemble something like Accessibilité
ohhh that s interesting.
i don t see the icon in app list, so i went to play store for download it and i had the "open" action button, so it means it s somewhere.
amazing how it works even in french, but i can t find the icon anywhere for add it to my home screen, weird.
thanks for your time
i ve found the trick, you need to activate "show in app list" wtf

That's ridiculous, why would they hide a useful app like this from search
My setup is not "clean", meaning I copied everything over from my Old P4 XL that had this transcribe app - that is why I'm not sure if I maybe actually enabled that by hand previously and just don't remember that.
Would be nice to know if someone here that made a "clean" setup without previous stuff could offer insight into his experience.
