[Q] Updating ParanoidKANGdroid question. - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey guys, I am running the 11/21 release and there was a recent(2/21) release. I am wondering how I should go about updating it. Should I just treat it like a brand new ROM? Thanks for your help.

you can usually dirty flash an update of the same rom you're running without any problems. flash update & gapps, wipe cache/dalvik, reboot. if you encounter issues, full wipe

[Q] CM9 on evo4g no google play

Hello, i have JMZtaylor's CM9 port for the Evo 4g installed, the 7/01 nightly. my question is when i try to flash the update for 7/05 and 7/06, then flash the recommended gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip and after it boots up, there is no Google Play store. any help is appreciated, thanks.
fixed it
So I figured out how to fix my problem. I'm not really sure if there is a better way, but what I did was re-flashed the original version, the 20120621 I believe. Then from there I just flashed gapps and then updated right to the 7/06 update. I'm not really sure why that after doing the updates regularly, my gapps just stopped loading. I would only flash the update and not gapps, until this last update because when the phone booted up I didn't have the play store anymore. So I hope this helps anyone out there that may have had the same issue as I did.
im here to help

Are you sure you have searched, similar questions are like in every ROM thread. Just flash the new boot.img and delete cache + dalvik xache , then install the new version in CWM.

[Q] Can I dirty flash from 10 to 10.1

Hello. I'm running the stable build of cyanogenmod 10, and am thinking of updating to the stable of 10.1. Can I just do the dirty flash instructions to update, or do I need to do a brand new clean flash, and start over. I've used the search bar, but can't seem to find anything specific to this. Thanks

Without looking anything up....I believe 10.1 is 4.2.2 and 10 is 4.1.1...or something like that....so no.....dirty flashing would be bad!
Sorry, you gotta clean install.

Root: Newbie's questions about upgrading & updating

Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie to the community of everything rooting and post rooting. I have recently rooted my N7 2013 running 4.2.2 and flashed TWRP recovery/SuperUser by Chainfire/AOSP PA 4Beta ROM.
While I now understands how to update the ROM and how to get out of a bootloop and other similar rooting circumstances, I need help understanding the procedures involved in the below scenario :-
Should Android get an incremental or a major update,
1. Should I first update the Stock ROM followed by reflashing the custom ROM or just wait for the custom ROM to release their compatible update?
2. Should the Superuser have an update, that does have to be updated from Play Store or the update needs to be flashed? Also, does TWRP needs to be updated if there's an update because I have heard that some ROMs are compatible with recoveries from a specific versions? Is this true?
3. Is updating radios really necessary? Will updating the radios cause it to malfunction? What is the procedure if this needs to be done?
4. What do I do if I wish to chuck the custom ROM and return to stock ROM or what is called un-rooting?
If there's something I missed out on asking but needs to be done, please point me in that direction as well!
Thanks
Regards
Karthik

[ROM] Stock {No Wipe} - ColorOS Release V1.0.0i 140121

This is the full ROM release for the build that was released on Sunday, January 26th.
The full build number is N1_12.A.07_OTA_INT_007_all_svn5002.
ROM is STOCK, but does not wipe data! Simply wipe cache and dalvik.
I have not modified this ROM other than removing the wipe stuff from it. If you're rooted on stock already, you won't lose root and you can just flash this in TWRP. I did NOT try to flash on stock recovery.

Thanks Harfainx, are you going to maintain this thread for all future updates of colour OS. That would be great especially being able to flash it through TWRP.

Currently I do plan on keeping up on this thread.
I'm not really sure right now of how I want to maintain it, but I can keep it updated to the newest official builds at the very least. I just hate having to wipe my phone to do an update, so I figured I would share for people that don't want to wipe their phone out.
I'll try to keep the thread alive and updated as much as possible.
Thanks but can i use softkey ( button on screen ) on this rom?

I don't think that these builds work on the N1w version.
