A while ago I remember a port for the S2, S3, and the original Note. It was a Sense 4.0 port, I thought it was the coolest thing at the time and didn't bother looking into it because I had an HTC Amaze and a One S. I then bought a Galaxy Note II and thought it'd be really cool if we could get that kind of development here. Just to make the HTC people really jealous. I mean, what do you think the possibility for this being released would be?

Hi there - it might be a bit of stupid question but I need to ask.
So here is my dilemma - I've been using HTC since ever - I mean for the last like 10 years and I`m really used to customizing it and stuff.
Now I like HTC because I can develop for them hack them play with bootloaders etc. I dont want a smart phone because of the phone I want it because I can develop for it.
Now I`m planning to get this new samsung phone because it is the most powerful one that I`ve found - I wanted EVO 3d but this one seems better. So my question is - is there as much development and stuff for samsung android phones as there is for HTC ?
Cheers
Considering it is a Nexus, yes. Check the Nexus S and Nexus One threads, and you'll see lots of developing and lots of breakthroughs.
the answer is simple
if you already have a better device like SGS2 or HTC Amaze don't bother
if you have a lower hardware, then it's a fine sidegrade to the GN (galaxy nexus)
Agreed if you already have a pretty good Ex Evo 3D, Galaxy S II Line I would see no update but if you are on a phone "that no longer supports newer version sof things" like HTC says about most of their pre sense 3.0 devices (-_-)
I see no reason NOT to upgrade to the Nexus Pri- Galaxy Nexus, you are guarantied updates as they come out and since it is a developer phone it will have a lot of support
I don't know if it is worth
Maybe look at Samsung forums here to see develops
Then you know, if it is worth..?
Thanks a lot - yeah i have wildfire and it doesn't support anything
so I guess I`ll be getting this one when it comes out - btw is SGS 2 better - I think this one is the best for processing power for now (i mean the Galaxy nexus)
if you like HTC, consider looking at the new HTC Rezound coming out in November as well.
when it comes to developing nothing easier than a Nexus device.
i mean fastboot oem unlock

1 - Thanks for killing "out of Topic" thread on the GSII forum :/.
2 - I find the screen on the new Galaxy Nexus to be the major selling point for me. The WVGA resolution blows on the GSII, although Super Amoled Plus is absolutely beautiful.
I know we all love our cappy's (well most of us) however i was starting to get a little bored with mine and was debating on getting a new android phone - something with a faster processor / flash / better camera / + more features but with the things i love about the captivate so i was thinking of jumping over to the SGII or Atrix 2...while digging around i found the Samsung Captivate Slide !!!.. I love the whole slide out keyboard and all of the specs so i think im going to wait out to get this phone now kind of excited =] !!
Here's a link i found already announced by Samsung so hopefully they give out a release date....Besides that would anybody have any other recommendations for a phone i should get since my intrest in the cappy is dying out ???
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SGH-I927ZKAATT
Plus the slide its already running gingerbread ! atnt is finally starting to kick up their android game
LOL link saysCaptivate GLIDE G S same crap different letter
i927... comes with gingerbread 2.3 hmmm wonder if it will be portable to i897 ? it would probably get ICS eventually...
DAMN IT... what have i just said?? ive become one of..... THEM!
I dunno, I see no similarity between this and the original Captivate. All the great things about the captivate aren't in this device. For instance, the captivate was the nicest style of all the original Galaxy S phones, with the metal plating back and original styling.
Its nice that it has the keyboard, although it looks like a relatively unoriginal phone otherwise. I wonder if it comes with the bad GPS like our original captivates.
I'm looking to replace my captivate because the bad GPS and bad camera (I have one of the original captivates with serious issues..haha), but I personally am more interested in the SGS II or the new Galaxy Nexus if it comes out on AT&T.

Looks like it is running a Tegra, makes porting a bit difficult.
how long until your iphone friends are referring to your phone as the "camel toe slide"
the GSIII and Note both look outstanding as far as a standalone device.
The most interesting concept i have seen is a hybrid phone the converts to the tablet that Asus will be releasing:

i came from the galaxy s2..and i have to say although i love my s2 and i do miss flashing i am very happy with my purchase..so yeah i would recommend it mate..and the led notification is a charm to have
Id hold off till the bugs and flaws are ironed out personally its an awesome phone just want to give honest advice
Mod or Die
if you're desperate then you'll most likely get it regardless of what we advice you
It depends a lot on ur usage and preference...
If u want a large screened smartphone, note scores over the one x...
If u r looking for awesome graphics performance, gaming, etc... Note can't compete with the one x...
One x also has a better camera and sense 4 GUI by HTC...It's a completely different world man....
In the end it's ur choice...

I actually have the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy Nexus and I would say you should switch for sure. The massive screen on the Note is fantastic but to be honest i found it to be slower than the GS2 (probably because of pixel density) and Samsung is really slow on the updates, although the notes isn't actually moving that slowly. I would say without question the One X is far better than the Note's as well as the speed of the device. I do like the active digitizer on the note but i couldn't find a legit use for it. And the lack of NFC kinda sucked for me too.
To sum up... SWITCH!!!! and then switch to the GS3 lol.
Or just wait for the s3

I doubt anything will be better than the One X this year, maybe comparable although in personally in the looks department i think this phone is beautiful so thats hard to beat, specially if the s3 is just an evolution from the s2
but it cant hurt to just wait a few weeks and see what s3 has to offer, i just purchased a one x and love it thought ^.^
I had a tough choice choosing between Galaxy Nexus/One X and Galaxy Note...
I ended up going for the One X as i thought it was such a great looking phone compared to the other two.

I don't know if i agree with all of this but I would suspect the GS3's build quality to not be as good as the One X. I do suspect it will be faster and might have a better screen although i don't see how that would be possible lol. I personally loved the build quality of the Galaxy Nexus. Its the only reason I kept that one over the Note. I also thought the GS2 was solid too but the low resolution made that one lose the battle.
Hello everyone!
I'm wondering if I should get this phone. I'm looking for some opinions on it. I currently have the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, but I'm very interested in the One X. I like my phone, but I've had it for almost a year now and want something new, and better....

great phone gorgeous screen speedy and have some great roms to play with...but depending which one are you going to go for? the AT&T version or the international one? if you go with the international one the T3 one you are in for an awesome piece of kit...
Well i am new to the forums so hello everybody.
I have been due for an upgrade for quite some time now, have just been waiting around because i figured there would be a new phone to be released soon enough.
Now that the samsung galaxy s3 is released and everyone seems to make good reviews on it i was thinking about getting it.
is there any phones out there that are better then the galaxy s3 right now? On sprints network? Or should i just go with this phone.
My parents and a couple freinds own the s2 and they say they love it.
is the s3 alot better and faster then the s2? Also will jellybean be released as an update on the s3? or will i have to install a custom rom.

The SGS3 is currently the best phone available on Sprint or any other network, especially if you plan to root & modify it. The bootloader is already unlocked so there is no "hacking" required to root it.
I own both the SGS II Epic 4G Touch & the GS III, there is no comparison really the GS III is hands down better in every way.

Best phone on Sprint. Only phones close are iPhone 5, HTC EVO 4G LTE, & Photon Q.
Yes on both.....S3 is a "galaxy" better than the S2 and JB is coming to the Sprint version very soon. Probably in next few months if I had to guess.

Very glad that i found this forum.

Sweet that makes me happy, jellybean looks amazing i put a custom rom on my evo 4g that was jellybean but it was unstable so i went back to ics.
i am sure the s3 will not dissapoint me it looks like it is an amazing phone and everybody says good things about it.
The only other phone I would consider is one of the HTC WP8 devices. Those aren't released yet, or even confirmed as far as Sprint is concerned. That's honestly the only thing I can think of right now.

That will probably be a while until release then, i will just stick with the s3 since it seems to be a good reliable phone.
well i have the evo 4g lte and gs3 performance wise atleast from bench marks. evo score higher but they feel the same speed wise. Evo take better picture but gs3 not to far behind. The evo screen is also crisper . But the gs3 is more user friendly out the box took sec to root and start flashing. With the evo i had to use a online dev tool to unlock it and lose warranty. Gs3 battery is removable and battery life on both is about the same. As much as i like the evo the gs3 is just a tad better more options and better development. Lte is also fast too on both and it don't drain the batteries like i heard it would.

I recently owned the Samsung Galaxy Epic 4G Touch or the S II as it's commonly known as, and I thoroughly enjoyed that phone. My daughter was eligible for an upgrade so I upgraded her to the S III, when I go the phone, I activated it to my number and gave her the S II (she had the Samsung Moment so the SII was an upgrade for her)
Even thought I thoroughly enjoyed the SII I like the SIII even better. It has a larger screen, faster processor and more internal memory. NFC is a great feature, I like to use S-Beam and WiFi Direct on it... pop-out video is a neat feature too... overall I would say this is the best phone currently on Sprint I can't believe someone would actually suggest the steamrolled iPhone 5.. we all have our opinions though
Saying that, In my opinion, I would wait a little longer to see if the Galaxy Note 2 comes to Sprint. Samsung has used some of the features in the S III in the Note 2 and added features to the Note 2. If you're okay with a bigger screen, which I am okay with, waiting for the Note 2 might be worth the wait.
I've also read good things on the upcoming Nokia Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8 too.. I'll stick to Android OS based devices though
I am currently using Windows 8 on all my computers and would really like to see how the Windows 8 UI Tiles handle on a touchscreeen devices...
Again, the Note 2 and Lumia 920 aren't out on Sprint yet and you did ask for advice on phones that are currently available.
Quick Compare:
Samsung Note 2 | Samsung S III | iPhone5
None!!!!!

Agreed with @elephant007, the Note is worth waiting for and it comes out, supposedly, in a few weeks to US carriers.
Apparently, Sprint will have it next month
