So, had the One X since release date, always had HTC before this. But after having all the issues that have been described here on xda, I spoke to my network (3 uk) and they have said that so long as its within 28 days of the 4/4/12 that they will either replace it for a new one or any other model that they stock.
Now, I'm a flashaholic. I do not want to use the HTC unlock method, always relied on the very clever peeps here for "alternative" ways of s-off. But as it seems the biggest team of Revolutionary aren't working on the One X. I'm considering leaving the HTC brand and moving to the Galaxy Note?
Have any of you guys left the note to come here? It looks the part on paper at least?
Anyone else from 3 UK willing to take the plunge if the offer was sat there?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I think you shouldn't switch to the Note...
Sooner or later there will be a S-OFF tool.
The NOte is IMO too big, but that's your decision. The other reasons why I dodn't get the note:
- DPI is not as high
- the PenTile thing, this means the display has 33% red and blue subpixels. some people don't notice, but I do: there's not a single straight line. it appears as if every other row of pixels was shifted by 0.5 pixels; I just can't stand it.
I highly recommend you to check if that's a problem for you before getting it. Just saying
P.S: Even though the One X isn't perfect, it's the phone the closest to perfect I ever had.
Iff i waz you id go for Gnexus over note the note is ridiculously big my sister has it as a work phone
Mod or Die
see the thing is i am on Three UK as well. and i had the choice for my two replacements i had so far to go for a different handset. and both times i got close going for the gnexus. now all this hype about quadcore for me i am sorry i really did not notice it so far with the HTC one x...yeah apps load faster than ever but 50% of the apps stuck in loading phase...anyways still a great phone i say and i am more than likely to stick with it because i am really liking stock Sense now
but i do miss overclocking and undervolting and also using an AOKP rom...tough decisions to make one thing i do hate about this phone is though why HTC locked the bootloader..why not just unlock it..
Note no way man stay clear of that huge thing..no no no
Hmmmm? Thanks for the replies folks. As for the size issue (that's what she said!) Im not thay concerned, saying that I've never held one! But I currently have a Advent Vega, that if the Note could replace might be a good thing? Kinda streamline my tech, save me carrying 2 devices?
But aswell as a flashaholic, I'm a sucker for POWER! 1.5ghz quad core vs 1.4ghz dual core? I feel in a real dilemma, I love HTC, always have, but the ONE X has, so far, let me down.
@Dobbi, I will look into the red/blue pixel issue, I have now been spoilt by the quality of the one x screen! It is nice.

all honesty mate...it is like cameras..more megapixels does not mean you are going to get better picture. same with the quadcores..so far i would say and yes i know i might get flamed for this my s2 dual core felt bit more snappier at times compare to the one x. so if you are really a flashaholic then maybe the phone to go for is the gnexus...the development for that phone is crazy...but at this moment of time i still will go as to say i will stick with the one x..this must be the longest time i gone without flashing
In all honesty too........my Sensation felt better than my One X.
Please don't go mad at me people. I not a massive sense fan, so that was always the first thing that went once s-off was achieved and all the roms about seem to be sense based or desensed. Not AOSP. I respect all our Devs massively and I am not clever enough or do I have time enough to even begin to learn how to build roms from the ground up using AOSP. But even the sensation was lacking in these roms.
Oh man. I may have to have a long hard think about if I'm ready to leave HTC.

Note is excellent don't let anyone put you off it, I've played with it many times and the size is a sweet spot. I've had the S2 before the HOX and don't find the HOX that much of a jump in size. It's nice the 4.7" but the 5.3" of the note gives you some more real estate.
You get use to the size after a while.
I'm holding ship with the HOX for the time being the only phone that can sway me away will be the SGS3 only if it excels the HOX but for me it'll be down to the software side and not hardware. Sense > TouchWiz.
I'm in a similar situation only that I've not ordered my HOX yet and I'm coming from a Galaxy Nexus. My biggest issue is to be frank all the problems you guys seem to be having with the htc , i dont care what people say you should NOT be having these sort of issues with a final retail handset. I jumped to samsung with the galaxy s2 after years of htc handset (android & wm) and looking back I'm glad I did. How can anyone defend this locked bootloader policy? seems like the days of simply plugging the phone in and flashing straight from the box are gone for htc which brings me onto samsung.... everything is geared towards flashing there phones, hell Ive even got a £2 clip which unbricks your samsung should anything go wrong With all that said I always a space in my heart for htc just a shame this whole mess may have put me off this time round.
Come next week when I can upgrade I'm 90% sure I'll order the samsung note partly for the reasons above and partly because it is such a sweet device despite the PenTile display which is not noticeable, trust me
oh and dont go for the gnexus if you use any games what so ever the gpu is crap and the main reason I switching (missing my psx gaming fun)

I game on my gnex and it doesnt lag??? And the camera is decent aswell especialy video www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePfy25sS0Yo&feature=player_embedded

well i am sticking with my htc one x for now...the more i hold it the more i am falling in love with it....it was the same when i had my galaxy s2..was scared to root it in the start but once it was done i could not stop flashing..same with the HOX. once i get my grey replacement that would be it for me...hate it or love it this phone does grow on you and no matter what flaws i still would recommend it

Right. I'm going to go into the 3 store to play with a galaxy note, along side my One X and compare them in real life usage tomorrow.
Real life usage, not stats on paper, not benchmarks, just what feels best. C'mon HTC don't fail me after 4 years of brand dedication.
Report back tomorrow peeps.

Let me know how that goes. If my One X replacement still has issues I might swap for a Note too.
I've used both nexus and note. Of the two the note is far better. After a day, the size is no issue. Plus the screen looks great, battery from what I've seen is good, but there is noticeable scrolling lag when compared to the one x.
That being said, the slight lag is not bad enough to deter someone. My dad loves his note

I'm a click away from buying this phone.
Anyone come from the Note? The One X worth it.
I have both since last week.
Note has bigger screen, which is better for e-reading, browsing, games.
One X fits better to the hand ('cause it's smaller); is faster in some very specific tasks (like indexing a stardict DICT to Fora dictionary), but overall in normal games and browsing, it's the same as Note; handle 1080p videos better than Note.
My One X has a yellowish screen, so take this thread I created yesterday with a grain of sault, since many One X's have normal white screens.

stick with the note mate and then just sell that and go for the galaxy s3..one x is a gorgeous phone, beautiful screen and all round one hell of a beast of a phone. but my first android phone was the s2. for me was easier to root and basically i could do anything i wanted with my eyes shut..so far with the HOX is like running a marathon...probs would get easier when there is a one click root procedure but for now to many problems and hassles with warranty if you unlock and etc..
anyways wait till the s3 comes out and then compare and go for the one you want...i know which one i would be looking at though

I've had the one x since release and about 2 days later my wife got a galaxy note. To be perfectly honest, in the current state of both devices (both latest available releases) I can't find anything remotely better about the one x over the note. In fact I am quite embarrased to show my device to my wife after the build up I gave to her about it.
The only possible reason that I can think of for you to chose the one x right now is if all your trowsers have small pockets.

Second thoughts....I can't admit that my wife has a better device than me. I'll just have to pretend for the time being and hope things improve.
As others have said, stick with the Note and wait to see what the SGS3 has to offer, or for HTC to iron out all the software/build issues the One X has right now.
Yeah will stick to the Note. I'm running Stunner rom anyways so its near enough stock android. I'll check the Galaxy S3 and see if that's worth jumping ship.

Stick with the Note
recklesslife,
Stick with the Note and wait for the SGIII. Your a Samsung user and use to the TW. Further, its in the heads of the general public that Android's best phone is from Samsung (SGII). Therefore, the anticipation for the SGIII to best all smartphones including the IPhone is given. Even though HTC fans won't like it. The marketing Samsung has put into the SG line is great all over the world. HTC needs a more complete package in terms of marketing and reliability of their phones.
Most of you say keep the Note. So I guess that's what I'll do. Was tempted to buy the One X. Can't knock the note really so don't know why I want to get a different phone. One X does look nice..
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
I owned a Note but as of about 5 mins ago I don't have it anymore but I would say go with the One X. I find the One X is far superior to the Note in every area except for pure screen size. For me I would rather have a better screen than a bigger screen. Oh and touchwiz isn't as heavy as sense nor as buggy as sense 4.0
Hate Touchwiz and hate phones with an overly plasticy finish. Why I ended up switching from a GSII to a Sensation.
I you plan to root though, doesn't really make much difference what phone you go for.
I was considering the G-Note also. I wanted something with a larger screen coming from a SGS2. My first choice was actually the Eluga Power. It has a much more modern processor, runs ICS out of the box, and has a smaller form factor than the G-Note. Unfortunately (for me), it only supports EU HSPA bands. But at the end of the day the G-Note really is older tech and just a gigantic SGS2 with S-Pen.
Here's a dimensions comparison:
Samsung Galaxy Note - 146.9x83x9.7mm, 178g
Panasonic Eluga Power - 136x70x9.6mm, 133g
http://www.knowyourmobile.com/comparisons/1328692/samsung_galaxy_note_vs_panasonic_eluga_power.html
No offence to G-Note fans, but they look ridiculous when you hold them to your ear and you can't constantly wear a BT headset to avoid having to use it that way. I also have a 3G tablet so decided that 4.7ish" (HOX, GN, SGS3) was just more practical. Also, Samsung's release of ICS for the SGS2 has been a cluster so I can't imagine the G-Note's being any better.
Just some food for thought…

Note was launched on Oct. Obviously it will be outdated in terms of specs. Were you expecting otherwise?
GN is even more outdated. HOX can't even better iP4s in terms of GPU (forget about new iPad). We have no clue SGS3 -- is it called SGS3 or something else??
Which company have been any better in terms of ICS update? How many HTC/Moto/SE phones have been updated? Most people here don't prefer OEM skins anyway. So if someone is going to root and ROM, why bother about OEM release? You are not going to use it anyway. I can understand for the general mass, but for most people in the XDA, I don't think it's a valid argument.
I would say stick to what you think is best for you. No point in forcing my views and preferences. I have seen people happier with their dumb phones compared to other guys with expensive smart phones.
You need to tell us what experiences you want from a mobile before we can advise one way or the other. I have both so can give you a realistic idea about how each stack up in the areas of importance for your use.
I'm going to be writing a review for the One X for the Telecom Tech blog, and will compare it a lot to the Note, which I already reviewed at my site here (the most comprehensive review on the internet at 17,000 words, well worth reading and a good backdrop to the incoming One X review).
Thinking of upgrading my sensation XE to either a One X or a Samsung S3. I've read lots about each, I'm in UK btw.
So any current owners of One X...
do you wish you had waited,
or are you going to swap to a S3,
or happy with One X over S3,
or would rather have an S3 but now in contract?
Cheers

HTC 1X. Using since 6th April. Awesome device. I would never swap an HTC phone for cheap looking Samsung. HTC is premium.
If by the time the SIII comes out, HTC still hasn't fixed up the One X software, I might very well jump ship. That is of course if the SIII has fewer bugs. I have no loyalty to HTC and I'm really pissed off at their locked bootloaders.

You can't really judge the SIII camera until it comes out. Remember how amazing the One X camera was supposed to be, but when we got the handsets it proved to be a very average camera (only with quick shooting).
Only reason I would swap it is for battery life, otherwise I love the One X

Keep the One X and will buy the S3 when price goes down.
Love the One X but also love the S3 (memory card slot, removable battery, and GLONASS)
Yes! I will, selling my HTC One X at the moment on eBay!
Reason, I don't think it looks ugly (Galaxy S3) but that is my personal preference although the One X looks better, I always use a case anyways.
The Camera is better on the Galaxy S3 with good lightning condition, more contrast and sharper (GSMarena), but HTC One X in low light kills the Galaxy.
Never been a fan of Sense anyways, love touchwiz! (Personal Preference).
And it should produce less heat, due to the 32nm
P.S Why did you get the HTC One X? Because of the Camera and Looks, plus I got it cheaper than retail stores.
Potentially, I'd have to have a good few days with the SGS3 to properly test it out though. I love my One X though, so it's unlikely
Not worth an upgrade if you ask me, nothing really is that much better besides software.

Not true at all. One X's camera is not that good, it is overhyped.
My HTC Incredible S took much better pictures than my One X (and I had 3 X's).
I gave up after my 3rd HOX, as much as I love sense, this is not how premium hardware should be. And even if you have a good one, I couldn't live with the knowlegde that the chance of defects later in the run are very big. I was an HTC fanboy and even I have to admit HTC ruined the One X.
Looking at movies of the S3, I'm starting to find touchwiz less ugly. Sense is thé android experience, it is a real shame
So yes I'm waiting for the S3 to come out so I can take a look at the pentile matrix display. If the pixels are good, I'm going for S3. Shame because I really liked the HOX, but HTC can't seem to get their act together in new batches.
I made a topic about this literally a few days ago - and decided that I would in fact be sticking with the One X.

The One X's camera is absolutely fantastic, I've never owned a phone that can take such good photo's. Videos are terrible on the other hand, but the camera does an awesome job for me at least!
Another thing to note is I've read a few reviews where they say the SGS3's screen is indistinguishable from the Galaxy Nexus' which would make the One X's display miles better.
Although many other reviews say otherwise so I'm not sure who to believe any more

Hi guys,
I really need your help to decide on whether or not I should trade my Galaxy Note for the HTC One X. I currently have the international version of the Note but since last week I have been hating it for the following reasons:
1) I installed ICS update on it and it's really garbage. The Touchwiz skin really makes ICS update not apparent at all.
2) Buggy official ROM. As you might be aware, there is a currently superbrick bug on the Galaxy Note even for official ROM. The phone will be bricked permanently after a wipe in CWM. The one to be blamed for this is of course Samsung.
Because of these bad supports, I am kinda leaning toward trading in my Notes for the One X. However, I heard some bad points about the One X too such as bad battery life, bad multitasking (especially since last update) and being too hot and got throttled down.
Can you guys share your opinions on this ? I tried the One X out at the store and I quite like the feels of holding the One X. Just try to look for some advice before I decide.
Thanks and cheers for your help,
Well I traded my note for a one x and I'm so glad I did while I was impressed by the note the one x is such a beautiful phone
Yes the battery life isn't as great but what phone these days has a battery that will last forever lol
Nevertheless HTC are bringing updates out quite frequently so I expect this phone to improve in areas that people are complaining about I haven't had any problems so can't comment

HTC One X why pay $200 extra for basically the same thing that next year will be out of date anyways. Plus the One X rocks! Use the search their are plenty of comparisons.
I have both Galaxy Note and One X I love the One X display compared to the note it really is an amazing looking screen the apps and widgets just sit on top like their floating on water and phones all around design is killer. Everyone that has saw it has been amazed. I can't see paying an extra $200 for the GS3, I just don't see much of a difference yeah the GS3 will probably beat the One X in benchmarks but not by that much that you are really going to be able to tell during everyday use.
The one X has handled everything I've thrown at it so far. and by the time it wont be able to run an app or game it will be time to upgrade anyways.
Its personal preference pay $200 more for the s3 or buy the One X and be happy with a phone that is amazing. 32GB with 25GB dropbox is enough for me I remember trying to fill 16GBs and it was hard and if I need to I can move things back and forth from my computer with a simple USB cord.

The beauty of the one x is far superior, over the years HTC have worked hard on presentation among other things, samsungs stock, im an oversized iphone look hasnt changed in years.
When it comes too stability browsing, the Note beats the HTC into submission im afraid, but this is because it runs a solid and stable GB os, far superior to the crappy versions of ics we run on the htc, and before anyone jumps in screaming ICS rocks, wake up, if you think ICS is bug free and the finished article then youre clearly not seeing the facts. GB is more stable, but there again, its been around a lot longer, i expect ics will be just as good when it is the polished article.
The note was way too clumsy as a phone, one of the reasons i gave up on it, the one x is much nicer in every design way possible, plus the one x has superior power over the note, and i wouldnt worry about battery, i get a day from my one x, thats no different to what my note gave me.
The main reason i left the note was because the custom development side of the note forum on here became a massive issue for me, too many releases were responsible for bricking peoples Notes beyond repair, it became unsafe to flash custom software from over there, not that im blaming anyone, great group of lads, but the minute that happened i lost all faith.
The development just became a Miui thread in the end practically, it was time to move on, ive had a htc before and i know on here, some of the developers and cooks have a very very good reputation, one of the reasons i chose HTC because i know when these lads finally get to grips with the s-on problem there will be no end to the development, and the note hasnt even had official ics yet, what a joke, i think with android 5.0 around the corner, the future of htc and one x is safe on this forum, youll get updates a lot faster than on samsung.
Horses for courses my friend, it is your choice, but i agree with toonarmy, HTC ONE X, bring it on, it can only get better from here on.
Read my post on the guys thread who was asking GSIII or One X Rom support
Thanks for your informative post. That's true though. I have the Galaxy S, S2 and now the Note and I feel they are pretty much the same. The Touchwiz skin turns out to be worse than I initially thought. To make it worse, they cover ICS native skin with this fugly skin and make it so fugly beyond repairs.
To top it off, because of the superbrick bug, I am so scared to flash any official ROM and to even update my device to official ICS ROM. This really killed the whole purpose of getting an Android phone, which is to do whatever you like with it.
Beside, I did some wipes when I was in ICS and according to the guys in the Galaxy Note forum, my eMMC might have been damaged. I really don't want to deal with all the warranty repair hassle so it might be the right time for me to get rid of my Note.

One thing i hate about Samsung, touchwiz 3 at sgs1 and they didn't update it to touchwiz 4, unlike dhd which one got updated from 2.0 to 3.6 and possibly even to 4.0. Samsung sucks at updates.

I was thinking about buying one X too but reading this forum indicates so many problem with quality built. I just sit out for now because if I buy iy, it will be from Ebay or Amazon (live in US) and very difficult with warranty and stuff.
Take the One X and you won`t be sorry. I had the Note and i didn`t use the whole pen utility`s (notes and drawings). I just loved the big screen and the powerfull cpu. But the amount of pixels slowed it down quite heavily in performance.
The One X seems snappier and more direct imo.

LOL, I was asking about the Note ha ha but thanks anyway. I currently have the Note and wondering if I should go HTC One X next. I am sick of how irresponsible Samsung are. The Note will be my last Samsung phone.

My bad I'm so used to post saying should i get SG3 or One X, man that drives me crazy.... They both are good in their own rights. But anyways once again my bad just a little jumpy with all the SG3 or One X post I see. People need to search and their are already hundreds.................X10 SG3 or One X post.
I should have added some useful info since I own both. Here is how I see it the Note is a good PDA IMO. Its just doesn't have the feel of a phone to me, its not really good to carry around for everyday use. Its nice size screen for certain things I use mine like a tablet basically. I just needed something I could carry in my pocket and the note just didn't really fit right, I don't really like touch-wiz it feels like you are still on gingerbread, the way its designed. The display kills it when trying to watch a video it shows artifacts in the blacks, like really old .AVI videos. Thats just my personal opinion.
I think, htc one x. Sound is good, lighter and more compact than note.

My friend has the note, and I did a quick comparison with my one X.
The one X is super smooth scrolling between homescreens etc, wheras there is a noticeable lag on the note, in nearly everything.
The screen is good on the note, but the one X is so much better, in both colour reproduction and of course pixel density
And the one X is really nice to hold and use on an everyday basis, whereas the note is unwieldy and too shiny, so really slippery in hand

For me it's simples, build and feel quality. Samsung consistently produce sub-par products in the quality of materials department........and that's being kind.
HTC have always produced premium feeling hardware and the HOX is no exception.
Note or One X
Had my HTC one X for a week now and very happy with it. Previously had a Galaxy S and wasn't impressed with the Touch Wiz interface so that put me off the Note as did the size ,thought 5.3 inch was a little OTT.
Very happy with it so far. The stock Rom runs very smooth even with the Vodafone clutter installed. If it carries on as it is now i wont even look at custom ROM as there will be no point.
Only downer is the battery but as pointed out by someone earlier that's the deal with a smartphone . I charge once a day and although i would like it to last longer i can cope. Think those of us who have had a few smartfones now accept we have to manage the battery ourselves so if im at work and not using it i turn to 2g, brightness down and turn off auto sync and i can get from 9-6 with 91% left then i can go mad with all the bells and whistles on when im out and about with worry. Seems like a hassle altering the settings for different situations but it only takes 20 seconds in reality with a few well places shortcuts.
Love the feel as well, very hard to let slip in the hand unless some more plastic y phones.
Now I think HTC one x quality is perfect rather than the first batch of phones.. I got the first batch also with flaws but HTC swapped it with a perfect one.. ht24 serial rather than ht23.. by the way, I held the note side by side to my one x and the camera and screen of the one x is much superior than the note IMHO.. the guys posted before is right same old style, feel and interface with galaxy series nothing new just the size rather than sense UI..

I could add that HTC One X has a super nice GPS - takes about 4s to get signal in buildings - that's just ridicules
I traded my Note for this bad boy. Well worth it my friend

I have both and I like both.
I prefer One X cause it's more portable and has clearly a better screen. GNote has the advantage (while One X doesn't get S-OFF) of allowing to install custom roms without voiding warranty and of the bigger screen, which really makes a difference for e-reading.
I have both and I have ended up using the One X more. There are things that I really love about the note, but the updates and ICS on it are a let down. I for one really like sense and have since win mo days. To each his own
Hello
I want to change my phone (HTC Amaze) for this one or galaxy S3 ... I would like to know your opinion about the HTC one X. I love the look and size but do you recommand it (unlock, install rom, hardware of course, pros & cons)

Considering the source and the need for yet another one of these threads, and after careful deliberation between the two offered choices, I have no other recourse but to disclose to you my final decision.
iPhone 5 ...
iPhone 4 if the price is a bit out of reach.
this is like asking a sales car person at the bmw dealership which car is worth buying, a bmw or a benz
Just a warning if you are considering the AT&T HTC One X the newest update 2.20 is not yet rootable. This isn't a problem for the international or Canadian version though.

Hey, I'm less moody and sarcastic, but try the search feature, there are many other threads discussing this issue.
Another bit of advice, you're in the One X forum, you're obviously going to get bias

Why not consider the soon to be released ONe X+ or the I9305 newer variant of sg3 about to be launched...................

Thank you so much, really appreciated
HTC One X has more human touch
As of my experience HTC One X has more human touch in its user interface (Sense 4). Polished look of Sense is a key advantage over Samsung Galaxy SIII. I mean, look at Sense widgets - time, music, settings, gallery, calendar - they are great looking. If you look at SGSIII TouchWiz interface and widgets - it looks like they were designed by techy people, not designers.
In terms of device design SGSIII has an advantage - a genuine Samsung leather hard flip cover, available at most stores. It replaces your standard back cover in a fancy colorful way. HTC also has a similar solution, but it makes One X looks a little beefy.
Regarding ROMs - it is pretty easy to install custom ROM on One X. There are plenty of Recoginzed developers who is trying to improve our devices on a daily basis in their ROMs (ARHD, InsertCoin, MaXimus, LeeDroid...).
As for me, I chosen One X because of its UI design, camera and ARHD ROM.
Hope this helps.

Cant you read? The choice was HOX or SGS3. Ahhh the trolls.:laugh::laugh:
If you want tegra enhancements then go for hox (wait for the one x +). If you want amazing audio go for the s3 (wolfson DAC). That's pretty much it. Oh and sense is brilliant vs touchwiz that is just plain dull.

Don't forget HOX is Playstation Mobile certified as well.
thank you all
one x of course in my opinion but i have used both an it really depends on what you want it for
one thing I hate from S3 is the plastic look, turn off

If I'm honest, the only difference between the S3 and HOX is a few slight differences such as screen.
THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE IN MY OPINION IS THE DESIGN !
If you want a very expensive pebble, get the S3
If you want the Rihanna of phones, get the HOX its beautiful !

I wouldn't consider screen differentials as slight differences.
To me, the screen is the most important feature of any large touchscreen phone.
And the HOX screen is 'Much better' than what Samsung offer on the GS3.

But if you want a phone to flash a lot of roms and stuff and nearly impossible to brick.. Go for s3. Personally i don't need any rom on my hox it feels better then custom s3
