I don't know if this is a Odin issue or maybe my phone. While trying to root my phone, it stops at recovery.img than stalemates until I unplug it. Tried it with odin verison 3.04 & .07, no luck with either. Don't know what the issue is, anyone may giving me a helping hand.

Are you using an img file or a tar file. You need tar file when using odin.

Odin works, but Heimdall keeps giving me these errors. I tried all usb ports and multiple usb cables.
I've followed the guides (cm wiki) properly, it just don't cooperate.
Any ideas?
Anybody?

It's probably your phone drivers. Uninstall and reinstall them. Reboot. What are you trying to do exactly?

Tried reinstalling drivers but never tried uninstalling them.
Trying to manually flash the most up to date clockwork touch recovery.
I'm an HTC guy who likes fastboot so heimdall makes sense to me.

Uninstall and reinstall of drivers didn't change anything. Same error.
I'm uninstalling everything I can think of now, including Kies.

Did that, but then I need to wait for someone else to make a pda file of the newest touch recovery.
I'm trying to upgrade to the very newest one that I downloaded from clockwork.

Just a thought: are you making this harder on yourself by doing it through Heimdall? You can flash the most up to date compatible CWM touch recovery through the ROM Manager app. Unless there's something I'm missing, you should try that instead.

Didn't want to pay for it when Heimdall is right there, but it's really more about wondering why it doesn't work.
Besides, seems like a useful tool.

It's been a while since I had to use odin, so can someone please refresh my memory. I have Odin and firmware downloaded. I have both of them on my desktop. I understand how to open Odin, but how do i get my firmware to show up when I hit PDA in Odin? I know you're supposed to somehow extract it into a folder or something, but I can't for the life of me figure this out. Can someone please give me a detailed description of how this works? I've searched and searched but it's always gone over so quickly and nobody explains this step. I'm sure it's simple, but I'm dying over here. Lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Where did you place the firmware file? I put it on my main screen. So I just go to either my computer or desktop and scroll until I see the file.
When you hit PDA, it's suppose to show all your folders. You're just suppose to find where you placed your download.

I put it on my desktop, but when I hit PDA it doesn't show up under desktop. After the firmware download was completed, I went to my downloads folder and drag & dropped it on my desktop. I haven't opened it or done anything with it.

No... As you can tell, I'm not that computer savvy. What's the best way of doing that? If you could explain the process of extracting and finding the file after I hit the PDA, that's pretty much all I need. I know I'm probably a pain in the butt. I just need a friendly person to explain it to me. Thank you

Just extract it like a normal archive and the extracted file will end with .tar.md5 extension.. After that you can use it with Odin and it will show up when searching for it

What are you trying to do? Root your phone? Return to stock? What version of android are you on, 4.1.1 or 4.1.2?

I'm wanting to update my firmware and bootloader. I'm currently on an older CM10.1 nightly. In order to install any CM10 or AOKP I have to update my firmware to get the latest MD5 bootloader. I have the T-mobile SGH-T999.

Theres a recovery flashable zip in dev section designed for exactly that. Will flash everything but /system.
Use in recovery though, not Odin.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Stop what you're doing. Flash this and you're good. Do it through recovery. No need to Odin.

I had the same problem, but later realized its just a certain app.
For ex. ROM toolbox gives me that problem.
Flashing back through Odin does nothing.

Ok I downloaded the modem.bin file. I'm on wicked v8 Rom 4.2.2. What I'm wanting to know is the procedures on flashing correctly for those that don't have access to a computer. I'm new to this mobile odin and I really don't want to mess up anything.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
Open Mobile Odin app, scroll down to modem#2 slot and click on it. Brows to where your modem.bin file is store on your phone and click on it. Scroll down to flash firmware and click on it, let it do it's thing.
If mobile odin get you to the download mode screen, press and hold power button for about 10 sec till it get you to mobile Odin screen. After it's done let phone reboot and check your baseband. Note: I had to do it twice as the first time it did not work.

Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
If you're only flashing the modem.bin you shouldn't have the sounds issue. If you do just Odin back the mdl modem
