Quick question regarding 4.2.2 - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Out of curiosity, if I go to a 4.2.2 ROM will I be able to go back to 4.2.1 without any problem? Thank you.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus

Yes. You should be able to flash/android back to a 4.2.1 Rom without any issues. Unless of course if there's a specific process or additional step from a your 4.2.2 rom to flash back to an earlier version then you might wanna follow those instructions otherwise you may have problems but normally that would only SOMETIMES be the case when flashing back to a 4.1 rom.

What you can do is Backup your current ROM using this guide. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055950
Then odin one click back to EL29 GB full ROM. Stock or Rooted.
Power off the phone completely. Insert USB JIG and it resets.
Then do what it says in the guide I linked to to restore your JB ROM
After that, you will be able to use a JIG to reset the counter. What happens is the bootloader gets downgraded. Everything from ICS and up is patched. So having a GB bootloader will let you use a JIG.
Why does the flash counter matter? Except to return the phone to sprint or Samsung? And in that case you will want to go to stock anyway.

UVLI4 and instructions may be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1895400
You can just do gapps if you like. Instructions on rom update maybe found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2143784
Flashing UVLI4 is done in the same way as jb 4.2.1 and gapps 12.12.12 though. So if you want clearer calls and faster gps locking you can do it. OTH, if you're happy with your radio's performance as it's not required. YMMV.

Seeing how your just getting started on this one, you're welcome to follow leebert's suggestion to start over and see if that doesn't solve the problem. Sometimes its the best way. And if you follow the instructions, I linked to earlier you're pretty much guaranteed success.
On a second attempt, I would at least:
Wipe dalvik -> Wipe cache -> Flash UVLI4 -> Flash JB ROM -> Flash gapps -> Fix permissions
Reboot -> Cross fingers -> Let sit for at least 10 min
On a third attempt, I'd read & follow these instructions to the letter:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2143784
I was hoping that I didn't have to do a factory reset to have this ROM properly work, but that was not the case. I had to reset and reinstall the ROM. Now its running fine and I'm still on UVLH1. What are the benefits to running with UVLI4?

The install order for putting the Skyrocket version on a Hercules is:
1. Embryo 7 (FROM skyrocket)
2. 4.1.2 Hercules Kernel*
3. Hercules Radio (UVMC6)
4. Orange theme update (or Stock theme zip)
