Thanks

You can use this !
http://androidfiles.org/ruu/securek...Radio_1.1204.103.14_release_257076_signed.exe
It will bring you back to full stock, after that you can update up to JB.

do i need to use a tool to run the setup in my HTC One X?
sorry for the dumb question but this is my very first time in handling Andriod OS
thanks

You can set your phone with pc or your hands...

The RUU is your tool. You hold down the power + volume down button together as long as it takes for you to see the bootloader
On top of the bootloader will say
Unlocked
Locked
Relocked
One of these 3 !
To run the ruu the bootloader must either be LOCKED or RELOCKED !
To lock the bootloader you need this fastboot command
Fastboot oem lock
After that you execute the ruu.exe from the pc and follow instructions. Charge the battery to full power before you start !!!

i tried running the ruu.exe on my laptop but i received an error saying that complete first the current setup before proceeding or contact your administrator

Oke try this
Right click mousebutton on the ruu.exe and select
Run as administrator
And/or reboot the pc once

there was an error on opening in the usb master when the phone opened on the Hboot.
any idea on how can i fix this?

That's normal....we all have that. Its because of the usb cable being plugged in !
But don't press on HBOOT or anything else. Just put it on the first page of the bootloader and run the ruu as above

no luck...im still having the same error while executing the ruu.exe
anything elso i can do?

Hmm well afaik its a computer problem (no administrator rights of some kind) maybe transfer the ruu to another pc and try it again ?

ok will look for another laptop but this is the second laptop that i used but the same error occuers on both
user id used is already the administrator..
how i wish there is still other ways i can update my htc one x

Yes it could be done with a stock nandroid backup but if you don't have that. The problem is your low hboot. I don't think there is one that low available for you.
Can you give these commands another go for me
Fastboot oem readcid
Fastboot getvar version-main
Or a direct hboot flash but i need your exact CID for that ! But then you are still dependant on a custom rom.....

equal dianapa
sir, where should i run the command you just requested?

In steps
1 Download android sdk and unpack the bundle
2 uninstall HTC syncmanager if you have it installed but leave the drivers
3 put the phone in the bootloader
4 navigate in the android sdk folder to the platform tools folder. Hold down shift and click the right mouse button and select "open command window here"
5 type in that window
Fastboot getvar version main
and
Fastboot oem readcid

version is 0.5a
CID = HTC_044

That's not the main version number....try again, it looks like this
1.28.401.** or 2.17.415.**. These are examples !

i cannot run the fastboot getvar version main in the command window
only fastboot getvar version is the being executed which gives me the value of 0.5a

[Q] problem with ruu

hello guys, i have a problem using RUU to revert my phone back to stock, i searched for a solution on xda forum and google for few hours now but nothing was exacly my problem. i am sorry if i missed vital information, this is my first android phone and i am still trying to learn and understand how it works.
CID 004 primou
i tried 2 different ruu versons for this CID. before using each i did the following steps
flashed boot from archive, flashed recovery from archive, relocked the bootloader.
first gave the error 155 due to the HBOOT being of a more recent version than the ruu (not sure if i understood well the error)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30994089&postcount=121
on the second ruu *latest, i did same steps as before, unlocked bootloader, flashed boot, flashed recovery, relocked, but the ruu gives the error 170 ( device not connected) but i am 100% sure it is correctly connected into fastboot because it responds to One_V_All-In-One_Kit and it was recognized by the previous ruu.
i am using windows 8 pro and i have installed the ADB interface using the SDK google driver, this method to be exact http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2088896
Can you run this script and let us know the result because CID 004 is different from 044.
See this post for the script : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36514545&postcount=15
And this post reason for error 170 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36515756&postcount=22
hello, thanks for helping me,
i do not have any USB 3.0 ports on my PC, and the battery is at about 60%
the script you gave me told me this:
C:\Users\Draghici\Desktop\CID_checker_2>call fastboot getvar cid
cid: HTC__044
finished. total time: 0.001s
There is no need to flash boot.img and recovery.img, just a relocked bootloader is needed.
Just follow this step : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36515523&postcount=18
Most important is make sure your device is put on fastboot usb mode not hboot usb mode. (Another common error for usb connection problem when flashing RUU)
And use the latest RUU RUU_PRIMO_U_ICS_40A_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.22.707.2_Radio_ 20.76.30.0835U_3831.19.00.120_release_274703_signed.exe

sure i will do it right now, but i am 100% sure i relocked it correctly, the phone was in fastboot USB (red text) every time, and after each flash of boot/recovery, i relocked it, it told me in pink text in the recovery mode "RELOCKED"
but one more thing to add, when the RUU install failed on my phone screen it told me that the HBOOT version is too recent or something like that
hboot too recent if you flash 2.09 RUU (for hboot 1.17) but your hboot maybe 1.18 (2.22 RUU).
Unless there is a further update that I may missed, what hboot number is written on the bootloader ?

i have the 1.18, so i need to use
RUU_PRIMO_U_ICS_40A_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.22.707.2_Radio_20.76.30.0835U_3831.19.00.120_release_274703_signed
the one that gives me the error 170. i have 3 drivers provided by android SDK named
Android ADB Interface
Android Bootloader Interface
Android Composite Interface
each of them work with the 2.09 RUU and with all in one tool but none of them worked on 2.22 RUU.
You need HTC USB driver.
I'm using the driver from this HTC Sync Manager. It works nicely for Win 8 pro.
Install the HTC Sync Manager, it will install the necessary driver and you can remove the HTC Sync Manager later on but keep the driver.

sorry for the late rly, I think I got some progress, I did the next steps.
went to device manager and uninstalled google android sdk driver, went to HTC Sync installation folder (I had it installed at first try but it did not pass my mind to show windows the location where it was installed, anyway...) and I installed the windows 7 driver, the windows 8 do not work for some reason, right now I can see the green progress bar on my phone so I guess it worked.
thanks a lot
I will ofc hit the "thanks" button on your posts here.
Yep...that's a good progress... it will be a successful flash

[Q] HTC ONE X stock rom update fail

Hi ALL,
I'm new to Android and I just brought a used HTC ONE X. Previous user updated this phone to JB custom rom. I just wanted to reflash the phone using HTC official RUU. So followed some youtube videos and tried to do it. Some how due my poor knowledge in Android rom details I tried with a wrong RUU. So it went fail and then tried to recover that also failed. Now phone is just boot up to fastboot menu. unfortunately I can't find a sutable RUU too. My phone details are shown below. Please help !!! :crying:
Radio version - 1.1204.105.14
cid - vodap102 (Vodafone UK)
Hboot - 1.12.0000
rom ver - 2.17.161.4
Please help me to find proper RUU.
Thanks !!
I can't find your either but there is another method. First you need to get fastboot commands working ! If you know something about that ?
Install HTC drivers
http://db.tt/gXVxa3Dp
then download these files to your pc
http://db.tt/ldx3qOOU
C:\fastboot\*the files i gave you*
Then open a command prompt inside the fastboot folder on the pc, hold shift and right click inside the folder and choose "open command prompt here" or something similar
Then you put the phone in the bootloader and connect the cable to the pc
Then type
Fastboot devices
It should return a serial of the phone ! Lets start with all this and report back

[Q] Missing "software updates" option in settings>about

Hello all,
I'm new here so I hope I posted this in the right place and that this wasn't asked and answered before (I looked and didn't find)
This week I bought a new HTC ONE X from a local store, and I now noticed it does NOT have a "Software updates" option in Settings > About
(from what I saw, this option should have appeared above the "Tell HTC and error reporting" option... )...
If it helps --- from the Settings > About I know that:
My android version is: 4.0.4
My sense version is: 4.1
My software number is: 2.17.401.2
My kernerl is: 2.63.9.4-g090b42e [email protected] #1 SMP FREEMPT
My build number is: 2.17.401.2 CL89015 release-keys
I also installed CID GETTER and it says my CID is: HTC_621
When I explored some more I also saw I have:
ro.aa.mainsku: 401
ro.aa.maincid: HTC_001
ro.build.sense.version: 4.0
ro.cid: HTC_621
I don't really understand much about those things so I don't know which other bits of info might be relevant....
PLEASE - I would really appreciate if someone could help me understand why I don't have the "Software updates" option, and how can I update the device to the latest android etc.?
Thanks in advance
Re: [Q] Missing "software updates" option in settings>about
I bet you are running a custom rom and with that you can't update ! You need to get back to stock
Hold the power button and the volume - button togheter for a lifetime and wait as ling as it takes for the phone to boot into the bootloader.
I bet you find this
Bootloader : unlocked
Thanks

Hi Mr Hofs,
Thanks for replying so quickly ----
Yes, you are right, I went into the bootloader thing and it says UNLOCKED
and then:
ENDAVOURU PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.95.0000
CPLD-NONE
MICROP-None
Radio-NONE
eMMC-bootmode: disabled
CPU-bootmode: disabled
HW Secure boot: enabled
What does it mean? How can I verify that this is indeed a custom rom?
Needless to say, I'm not the one who unlocked it so.....
Should I complain to the store I bought it from?
Does it mean my warranty is void??
And how can I restore it to "stock"?
Thanks!

I don't think it's second hand ---
The phone looked brand new, came into the original HTC Box, and had the protective htc cover they come with...
I also asked and confirmed with them that the phone is new and not refurbished...
I think they probably just replaced the rom (I know that some Israeli importers/stores do that, usually to enable hebrew on older phones etc.)
Is there a simple way to restore it to stock rom without the help of the store?
Re: [Q] Missing "software updates" option in settings>about
Are u kidding me wow !
Well we might restore it to stock. You need to know about fastboot commands and you need the fastboot files on the pc
Nee is a tut on fastboot commands
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605720
Basically it comes to this, you need to put the phone in the bootloader and see a res text "fastboot usb" then you have to open a commandprompt inside the folder on the pc where your fastboot files are. There you type
Fastboot devices
If the serial pops up you are good to go
thanks

If the command shows you a serial number you are good to go to flash recoverys and boot.img files
So do you get a serial ?

Re: [Q] Missing "software updates" option in settings>about
Okey you can do this :
1: download this RUU
http://androidfiles.org/ruu/securek...Radio_1.1204.104.14_release_259284_signed.exe
2: charge the battery to 100%
3: put the phone in the fastboot usb mode
4: type this command in the commandprompt
Fastboot oem lock
It will relock the bootloader to be able to install the ruu
5: keep the phone in the fastboot usb mode after locking the bootloader
6: right click on the ruu.exe and execute with admin rights
This will flash the phone back to 100% stock, when the ruu flashed successfully you boot the phone and go into
Settings - about - softwareupdates and update the phone with all the updates you can get. That should het you to JB !

Ok, thanks for the detailed explanation :good: -- I just have a few more questions:
1. Is there a way to be sure this is the right file? Could it be that my version is wrong or something? or is it unmodifiable?
2. The file seems to match version: 1.29.709.7 and i have 1.29.709.12.... is this okay..? I read somewhere you should not use lower numbers, only higher or identical...
3. Would this wipe the data of the phone (photos , installed programs, etc.) -- or just replace the underlying operating-system?
I am charging my battery now....

1 yes its the right file .... 1.29.709 has to match (if it fails i have more options )
2 see number 1
3 it wipes EVERYTHING ....... So make a backup of the sdcard as well just to be sure (i hear different things about the sdcard so lets be safe and back it up)
if your main version was 2.17.709 you could not use a 1.29.709 ruu then you need at least a 2.17.709 ruu or higher. We cant downgrade but we can use the same base number or a higher one. Because we have s-on devices. If we had s-off we would be able to flash anything we like.....

Do you know fastboot commands ?
Fastboot getvar version-main
Then we know for sure which one you need.
how to do it ?
Uninstall HTC syncmanager and leave the drivers (if it is installed) then download the android sdk bundle (Google).
Unpack the bundle and navigate to the platform tools folder. Open a command window there. Hold shift + click the right mousebutton - select open command window here
Put the phone in the bootloader and connect the usb cable.
Then type in the command prompt on the pc
Fastboot getvar version-main

How to get One X back to stock?

So I bought a second hand One X today. It's rooted and on Android Revolution rom.
How do I get the right RUU for my phone and how do install it etc.?
Thanks.
You need to perform a fastboot command
Fastboot getvar version-main
From there we can check for a ruu
Okay and how do I do that?
Oke here we go
Download the android sdk bundle (Google), unpack it and navigate to the platform tools folder ..... open a command window there
Point in the folder, hold shift + right mouse button and select "open command window here"
If you have HTC syncmanager installed ? Uninstall it but leave the drivers on .....
Then you put the phone in the bootloader by holding the power button + volume - button endlessly until you see the bootloader !!!
Then type this in the command window on the pc
Fastboot getvar version-main
It just says waiting for device. I have the correct drivers installed. Don't know what to do :/
Do you have MYHTC in the device manager in windows ?
No. And now I just can't get past fastboot, this thing is driving me nuts

I have the right RUU. I just can't get out of fasboot/bootloader and my battery is lower than 30% so i can't install it.
Can you enter the custom recovery ?
No - However I've got it out of fastboot now. It boots and works etc. but its still on the custom rom.
I have my right RUU - after the phone is charged to 30%, can I just flash the RUU? Not having to re-lock the bootloader? Cos that's how I got here in the first place.
Oke ! To install the ruu you need to
Relock the bootloader
Keep the phone in the bootloader
Execute the ruu from the pc with admin rights
Yes but when I did that last time it got stuck in the bootloader.
Yeah well there is no other way to install a ruu
I did it and the RUU just got stuck on the "checking..." part
How do you know you got the right ruu ? First you state that you dont know how to perform the getvar version command, so you never know the exact right main version. If you take it from the running arhd rom its 3.14.401 or 2.17.401.....the software number from the custom rom has nothing to do with the real main version of the phone. It can be completely different
It's ok. its all sorted now RUU works
Thanks for your help
