Certain apps won't run because of root detected. - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there anyway to get certain apps to run on rooted devices?
Eg. Sky Go video streaming app won't run on rooted devices as it looks for root first before loading. Quite a few other apps, usually media streaming check beforehand too.
Thankyou.

There was a post about this.
Search Google and xda.
You need to use a combination of ota keeper or updater and supersu.

Google Wallet
Thanks I was looking for this!
I rented a movie in the store, then found out I could not play it. Now I can.
It's not an issue yet, but I'm sure Google Wallet will have a problem with rooted files!
+1 I'm sure you are correct!
And I'm sure there are more apps out there that will refuse to work if they detect root.

Works with the MOTO DROID RAZR (VW)...THANKS!!
And, why the hell does flixster care if my device is rooted or not - none of their business.
I understand flixster / UltraViolet Digital Copy Movies more than Google Movies.
At least with the UltraViolet Digital Copy Movies they can be downloaded to your device and stored on your device.
Making it more likely for people to hack distribute the file .
Plus apparently Flixster, is sort of taking responsibility for protecting the movie.

Confirmed
Voodoo OTA RootKeeper works with movies/flixster on EVO 3D
I can stream and download
Flixster said they don't support rooted devices because there is no way to identify issues with no standard (ie: CM7 vs MIUI vs MikRom vs etc) ROM OS.

Play store apps without being rooted?

I've searched for an answer but the only ones I find are for being rooted and I'm scared to death of bricking my a100... is there any other way of getting the apps that are on the playstore that show as incompatible without doing the root build prop thingy? For example I can get MLB at bat on my wife's kindle fire... back it up and send it to my Acer and it works just fine even though it supposedly isn't compatible. Thing is the selection of apps on kindle fire is ten times ****tier than the a100. Even if its an outside website or some unrooted method I haven't came across any suggestions will be appreciated ty

As long as its a free app, Download the apk from somewhere else and install on tablet. There are other app stores other than the Play store. GetJar is the only one I can think off right now. MLB at bat shows as compatible with my device in the Play store.
Sent from my A100 using Tapatalk 2
You could always try to 'push' the file using ADB, no root needed for that.
Hmm when I look in the play store I can only find MLB at the park, I'll check out that site ty

This is borderline warez discussions so tread lightly. However as long as it is a free version of an app there's other places to go and get the apk. I'll not mention them here since it can be shady.

I am in trouble. I have a Note 2. I am not able to update apps via play store. This is happening from yesterday. Though I am able to update Chrome, Facebook, flipboard, dropbox and a couple more apps but I am not able to update any other app for example twitter, whatsapp, astro, google maps, street view for google maps, youtube and all the others. But when open the play store site on my computer, and then update from there then the update happens normally. But I am not able to update from my phone. Tried to reset the play store apps several times, tried factory reset 3 times but the problem persists. Its getting frustrating and I dont have a single clue asto what to do now.
Should go to the service center and get a new software installed ??
Guys please help with your suggestions.

well i havent tried between devices but all i want to do is screen mirror to my tv using the allshare cast dongle
It's not going to work. Been trying for over a year. It's a lost cause.
Sucks.
My Screen Sharing works fine on STOCK Rooted, that's it.
I was using the Wicked ROM for the longest time, played with a few others. Could never get it to work.
I just recently ODIN Flashed and Relocked back to stock. Just used the CF-Auto-root method to root again. No custom kernel, no ROM. Just stock rooted and it works! Which sucks!
And this is all just to use my stupid AllShare Dongle
---------- Post added at 07:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:57 AM ----------
I forgot to add after rooting I did run Triangle Away to reset my flash counter to 0 and the binary to Official.
I did try the method above and it does work while being rooted but since its stock kernel I can't use wifi tethering which I need to have working.

But how do you register the AllShare Cast Dongle w/ your Samsung Link account?
I just turn on samsung link and I click the movie or file I want top play and there should b an all share icon on the too left corner. Once you tap that it should show the devices you wanna play it on. Like I have a 32 inch samsung smart tv. So thatll pop up for me. The file will play right to the tv. You can even do this directly with the video or music player. Just that the allshare icon on the app.

Yes for those options it's fine, but it's not true screen sharing. Like being able to use a MOGA controller and fire up your SNES emulator and share the screen on the TV.
While i'm able to do that now on the Stock ROM and Stock Kernel once I change away I lose that capability and that's what is wanting to be maintained. True honest screen sharing, not app/file sharing/streaming.

Poor Youtube video quality?

Hello, I have a note 2 n7100. I used to have 4.1.2. Flashed 4.3. Everything went well. One thing that's bothering me is the youtube app video quality is low even when I choose HQ. It gets better but it's pixilated. On 4.1.2 it was basically hd. Has anyone else experience the same problem? I can't figure out what it is. The rom?. Or a setting somewhere? Could a custom kernel effect it somehow? Any tips or advice appreciated.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Are you on 3G? Because usually the app switches to HQ rather than HD only on 3G.
Also there is an app called Viral .. It let's you choose whatever quality you want, its kinda good, you may want to try it
Thanks, i guess i had a modded youtube app before where it would automatically play hd in 3g. Noe it only has hd option on wifi only. The only solution i foind is the OG youtube downloader. Where you can choose what quality you want when on 3g. But it doesnt have an auto option to go to highest quality when on 3g. Ill check out that viral app. Thanks.

Actually most of the roms have youtube apk as system app and those apks are a little modified for better performance!
If u have system youtube apk then you can remove it by using root uninstaller from play store(needs root).
And reinstall youtube from play store!
