I have a Samsung Note 2 GT-N7100, the phone downloaded a software update V5_1209_1_1 and wants me to install it. I have no idea where the update came from or what it is for. It is showing in my notification panel and the only options I have are 'install', 'install all' or 'later' then the choice;- in 1,2,or 3 hours. It tells me my phone will not work and must not be used whilst it is being installed.
I do not wish to update my phone from the existing Android version 4.1.1, can anyone tell me how to delete the update data and stop the phone asking me to apply/install the update every 3 hours.
Thank you in advance.
I highly recommend you to do it.
It contains sds fix.

I had the Android 4.3 leaked test version and now I flashed using Heimdall (Linux's Odin) Android 4.1.2 choosing the FULL Flash option. the problem is that after it flashed and everything it booted, and the first error appeared S-Note force close. it keeps appearing over and over. Then when I logged with my Google account another fc...android.process.acore, so these 2 keep force closing endlessly.
I also notice some apps missing, not only S-Note, but only the Phone app. It's useless flashing again so how can I fix this problem in another way?
Now my phone is on Android 4.1.2 with missing stuff.

Reflash your stock firmware. dont tick the repartition. Just the PDA then flash. Be careful in flashing.

well, I just fully flashed again the 4.3, the last one leaked and don't seem to have a probl. i think i'll stick with this one until nov 20 or something when it''s said to scheduled officially.
So, my sprint GS3 is rooted with SuperSu pro. The Android version that is on my phone is version 4.1.1 I never had a problem with the phone until one day it prompted me to upgrade the software and I accepted. The update was never successful. I have a picture attached that shows error message it gave. SuperSU pros' icon also doesn't show up anymore on my phone. My phone is still rooted because I can use Titanium back up pro. It has been acting up more and more ever since that first error message.
I've tried searching for similar problems on this website as well as on others but haven't found anything that's similar. I hope the picture helps and someone else who's experienced a similar problem can shed some light on mine because it's driving me crazy.
Have you verified Root, like with Root Checker ? It's Free in the Play Store. Have you tried to Update SU ?
It sounds like you were rooted and tried to get the 4.3 update. Luckily for you it didn't take. If you want 4.3, I would suggest you flash the Knox free version. Just follow the install instructions in the OP and it'll get you back rooted. If you want to stay on 4.1, try flashing super su update through cwm if it won't install from the play store.

why is the samsung app perpectually asking for video editor to be updated when it is at latest version? I have clicked download countless times, downloaded and updated the video editor app but it still stays in 'update available' mode. Anyone have this issue and how to resolve?
I see the same on my P600 still running 4.3.
Most likely the update is only compatible with 4.4 - it's downloaded but not installed as not compatible.

I'm on stock 4.4 (p600) and it continuously updates. The same update every time. It shows as successfully updating, but starts all over again on the next reboot. I'd sop it from auto updating, but it hasn't bothered me enough yet. There's more than likely a problem with the app or with Samsung's updates that's causing the issue.
Want to block OTA updates on my 8.4 Wifi. Anyone know what apk/file(s) to rename/freeze to keep it from trying to update? I'm rooted, but still on the stock ROM.
I believe it will not update ota now that its rooted, simple test is to check for update, go through that, it should end up telling you something like, file have been change or modified or something and it wont let you update

It's trying to update & I just keep selecting the 3 hour postponement. I'm rooted and it's still trying. On my phone (GS4) I renamed the update apk, but I don't know the filename of the one on the tab.

On mine I went into 'settings/general/about device/software update' and unticked automatically check for updates. Then booted into recovery (stock recovery still on mine) and cleared the cache (which I believe deletes the OTA update file) then rebooted.
Since doing that I have not had any software update notifications and the OTA file hasn't reappeared.
My tab is on the original stock ROM and rooted with Towelroot.
so I rooted my galaxy tab s 8.4
I rooted and saw it installed super su. I went and ran super su to install the binarys but all it asked me to do is disable knox. which I did and was successful. I then installed twrp and that went fine. since I'm still on stock. How do I disable OTA updates? thank you in advance.
I don't know if it is the correct way to do it, but I just froze the two files called software update in the system files and one called fwupdate (I think). I can get you the correct names of the files tonight.
As promised, here are the three things I froze:
2 x Software Update
1 x FW Upgrade
Though I think you may only need to disable FWupgrade. I have just enabled the two called 'Software Update' and they seem to be connected to app updates and not OTA.

I found the two softare upgrade files and froze them with rom toolbox lite.
I could not find the FW upgrade file you are referring to.
The app I used is called 'Root App Delete' and it is available on Google Play. If you install that, then go into System Apps and select Junior mode (to freeze rather than delete), it should show in that list.
You won't be able to ota with Root and/or custom recovery installed. There's nothing to do.
Also be very careful when deleting system apps.
Ensure you have made a system backup in recovery.
