best rom for rogers e971 - LG Optimus G (International)

Hi
I was just wondering what's the best most stable rom with least amont of bugs out for the rogers e971. Would be cool if most things were working like like camera, wifi, lte, captive keys and such.
Thanks

Either the Stock JB 4.1.2 or the AOKP 4.2.1.
If you go with the latter, be sure to grab houstonn's .zip for capacitive keys from the AOSP thread and set the height of the nav bar to 0 to disable it.
Those two have been the most problem free for me.

Virtual Buttons On JB Rom (Team Dirt)

Was going to originally post this in the actual ROM thread but I just made my account so it wouldn't let me. I'm wondering how (if even possible) I would go about getting rid of the virtual buttons under the dock (back, home, recent apps). They take up a lot of space on the screen and are incredibly unnecessary when I already have hardware buttons. I looked everywhere so I figure its either not an option or I'm blind. Is it an Apex setting or what?
I know there are a couple other JB roms that don't have these virtual buttons that I have flashed but this one hands down has the best features and is the most smooth not to mention the working camera. The only other camera mod is preludedrews and that one has very limited customization so I would prefer to stick with this one.
bump!
Hmm, working camera, soft keys? What ROM are you on? You may still be on an ICS ROM.
Correct me if I'm wrong

No there are new BlackBean roms that have cameras working at 8mp and onscreen controls (which I hate). Search for BlackBean. He has a Baked and AOKP

Do CM9 and CM10 have wi-fi issues?

I survived rooting an S3, flashing CM9 and then having wi-fi work fine that day but cease functioning the next. I tried CM10 but that didn't fix the wi-fi issue. I went back to stock 4.1.1 LK3 and wi-fi works. Are the wi-fi drivers in CM not that good? Nothing I tried could get connectivity after the first day. Reflashing didn't fix the issue.
I can live with relatively minor bugs in ROMs, but not when it comes to wi-fi. What else should I be trying? I'm thinking of LiquidSmooth, but am open to suggestions. What I did love about CM was how fast it booted and ran.
One person here whose opinion I highly respect uses Task ROM and Lean kernel. Anyone else like those?
Well there are many different roms out there I personally run Jellybam which is a mixture of AOKP, CM10, and Paranoid Android. Also, it's pretty stable i have the occasional Wifi drops but you just have to turn it off and turn it back on and I have problems with the Paranoid Android part of it. From what i know Cyanogenmod has moved on to 10.1 which is 4.2.1 and i think AOKP has move on to 4.2.1 and i think they are still working on some bugs. But i haven't been on their threads in a while.
But i heard that AOCP The Collective and Jedi Invasion are stable roms just to name a few (don't know 100%) but i would read up on their threads before doing anything as to be 100% sure before flashing. For example I read that someone had problems with Jedi Invasion 2.1 but 2.0 worked great for them, etc.
i had horrible wifi on any rom i tried. it onky worked on stock for me when i turned off wifi power saving. however the newest aokp from task, android 4.2 has fixed my problems and i no longer experience problems.

I find it odd that wi-fi is such an issue given how common and universal this technology is. Plus wi-fi is such an essential service, far more than many other features. Appreciate the replies, which have given me new ROMs to research more closely.

Not finding this. Search has zero results. Wrong spelling?
Ive had wifi issues on all cm 10 and aokp based roms. I havent had any wifi issues on the newer cm 10.1 or aokp 4.2 or any of the touch wiz based roms. Another option is use an app called smart wifi toggler it seems to work pretty well and is free on the play store.

Well, I'm looking at Task & Ktoonsez AOKP Task 4.2.1 as a first-choice potential ROM, so your positive remark about wi-fi is good to read.
I do use the wi-fi toggle you noted, but it won't overcome a functional wi-fi issue in a ROM...at least for me.
Out of curiosity, do these hybrid ROMs run themes for CM, AOKP and others or only one specific type?
Task and Ktoonsez is a great ROM really stable. I was using it for a while but I am actually running Liquid Smooth RC9 right now and its my ROM of choice. I personally like the vanilla experience you get from Liquidsmooth. The Liquid Splasher is incredibly customizable, and no issues with wifi whatsoever.
Good luck!

I read LS thread and was concerned about posts regarding different RCs. Some love RC7, others RC9, and there seemed to be a lot of things waiting to be fixed. No? I'm probably going to try the TK ROM first, but am keeping an eye on LS because I have a second S3 that I will root and flash after first one is ready for daily use. The wi-fi issue is most important to me, so I'm interested that you have had no problems on your S3.
Is Liquid Splasher the launcher?
Does LS support AOKP/CM10 themes?
Liquid Splasher is the internal customizer to set a various array of settings and configurations, there is a huge amount of options so kind of hard to give you a detailed listing of what it can do. LS Launcher is stock nothing special about it but you can always just install nova if you prefer nova.
Yes I have been able to run AOKP themes.
Heres the unofficial thread about LS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012791
I am sure you will really like Tasks ROM its really good from the experience I had. But for me personally I am just having a lot more success with LS in regards to performance and app compatibility, and battery life. It seems everyone has a little different experience with custom ROM`s so I can only speak for myself that LS has been rock solid for me.
Hope that helps somewhat.
Yes, your remarks have been very helpful. Always good to read comments from someone with experience with these things. Most appreciated.

General Questions.

Hey guys, I should be getting the Incredible as a play phone in a couple weeks, and I'm just wanting to get a consensus of the Roms and Kernels for this phone.
I currently have the Droid Charge add my daily driver, and I am (slightly) experienced in rooting and ROMs. Currently the Charge only has one Rom going for it, and one Kernel that has more or less been abandoned.
The ril or Radio Interface Layer was never released for our phone, so development is limited. We will never have an official CM, AOKP, or AOSP ROM, which is why I am getting this once to play on.
From the looks of it you guys have almost all of these, but I'm not sure which are the most functional, or which ones are JB/ICS. I would prefer a JB/ICS Rom, as I haven't been able to play with them much, but functionality odds a big deal breaker for me.
All this being said, what do you all think? Which Roms/Kernels should I try when I get the phone?
Note: this phone will be a Wi-Fi only phone, so Data is no biggy. It will be in Airplane Mode most of its life span with me.
Thank you all! I look forward to becoming an active member, and maybe even a Themer if I decide to pick it back up.

The most stable roms seem to be CM7 and GB MIUI however I have used the last version of AOKP ICS, tiny's CM10.1 & zachf's JB 4.1 PAC Man rom with good success. Mostly everything works on AOKP ICS with some add on packages. CM 10 & 10.1 & the PAC Man rom have some issues mostly camera or video play back related.
edit: If you want a sense rom then try Touch of Blue. It's the only one being actively developed & is based on the Incredible GB factory rom.
Here is a thread link to a discussion of droid incredible users favorite roms & how they've made them work for them.

I'd recommend either one extreme or the other - Touch of Blue (GB 2.3.4 / Sense 1.0) or Tiny's CM 10.1 (JB 4.2.2). And unless you need/really want a good video camera, go with CM 10.1. Be sure to read the OP of Tiny's CM 10.1 ROM thread as well as the OP of his Q&A thread.

[Q] Favorite ROM?

Hi all,
Just wondering what your favorite ROM's are for your Optimus G :good:
I have briefly flashed Avatar, PAC-Man, and Carbon
Personally, I like the 'stock' LG stuff, however, out of the three ROM's I flashed I preferred Carbon because it was so clean and streamlined
Also, is it possible to load a custom ROM yet still have the features of the stock LG operating system such as the start screen, transitions, layout, etc, yet removing all the unnecessary things while adding the customisability of using other ROM's?

There are too many similiar roms for me (seriously, what are the difference between, for example ThinkingBridge, BeanStalk, Carbon etc.). I prefer stock (or SAVVY), it's fast, no bugs at all, I like LG' UI look, QuickMemo is very usable. But in this poll I choose Pac-man, cause this is the only rom I know something about
Although I am not using it due to bugs I can't fix / live with, I voted for Avatar. I am currently running CM 10.2 but I am very fond of XenonHD, it's an awesome ROM and everything is very smooth and snappy I would so even more so than CM 10.2.
Any who, that is my 2 cents worth.
Not sure what model you have but for my e973 I believe the AOKP ROM fits the bill. The biggest reason for me is because of the notification led. It works flawlessly. I found all ROMs are generally the same with a few tweeks but the led light on the other ROMs do not work well and that's a deal breaker for me.
My opinion

Yeap, me to quit happy with SAVVY, only miss theme management!
Faster and better battery (need more days of test), with custom's never found a real stable one!
SAVVY the most. But for others, I prefer MOKEE.
Stock Rom Preferably the newest 10G Firmware/Baseband. But Savvy Rom is also great though it's only based on an older firmware/baseband 10D.

[Q] is it possible to use GUI's across ROM's? and if so, how?

so i installed Cyanogenmod(hood pope) 10.2 based on android 4.3 to my e4gt, but no matter how many different modems i tried, it wouldn't get 3g, so i installed wild for the night unofficial 10.2, based on 4.2.2, and it got 3g but it wouldn't work the gps, it would take a while to lock on and easily lose my location, so i thought when cm official page got some official nightly downloads for the e4gt not long ago it would be better but no difference for my sph-d710, so i gave up and installed rooted ics and left a nandroid of my CM behind just in case i'd go back to it, so now ics works fine but looks horrific, so is there a way to use my CM gui from my nandroid on ics but leaving the system itself(the engine as one might say) as it is so that the features will still work? i really love the CM GUI and features, but since i've got no official support i want to get the looks at least, is this possible?, if so, how do i do it?
sorry for the trouble and thank you for your time.
What modems were you trying? Only ICS modems will work with CyanogenMod, AOSP/AOKP, MIUI, etc. Seems like you were using JB modems.
