Ok, so my wife claims to have installed ClubMz's Extreme Cell Phone Spy Gear 2010 Platinum on her laptop and cell. She claims to have been watching me for the last 5 months. I know I havent done anything wrong but find this creepy. I'd rather save the fight and not get upset or call her a crazy %$^ch. Is this legit? And how can I block her from spying on me? lol
looking at their website i would say it's not going to be very reliable software.
i've always found that if they need flashy graphics and they SCREAM at you what they do, it's probably crap.
here's a better question. if your wife is saying she has it on her laptop...why not look at her laptop and see what it does/doesn't do?
Use your own laptop and phone?
EDIT: So wait, how does this even work? Do both devices need Bluetooth enabled to get the data or what? And it doesn't look like you put it on your computer, so I'm not sure what she means by that. Looks to me like you'll have to have Bluetooth enabled on your phone and be close enough to hers for it to get the data. I wonder if just turning it off on your end will hinder her efforts.

Im not the type that likes to snoop around. She said she would show me what she has. I would rather just avoid all that and block her from any future "snooping"

I think you're right. It may only install on the laptop then you transfer it somehow to your phone. From what I read, it does require bt. But mine is always off. Did it only require bt to be enabled to install some hidden spyware on my phone? Maybe she turned bt on my phone while I was sleeping to get what she needed? I have no clue.

I hope you realize that by her installing that software on your phone without your knowledge constitutes a federal wiretapping felony. Also if your employer gets wind that wifey is snooping via your phone (this software uses weak encryption) that you can lose your job, and be liable for any private corporate information that could get leaked. Also get sued for disclosure...
I'll tell you this much is my wifey put **** like that on any of my stuff he ass would be out to the curb in a heartbeat, and talking to a lawyer.

if the root process is available for the vzw galaxy nexus by the time i get home, i will root it instantly. like you said, google wallet is the biggest reason followed by the fact i need to tether. google wallet isn't unsecure, i use it on my nexus s daily and wouldn't give it up for the world.

The big security flaw is using your phone on ANY cell phone service. They track who you call, how long your calls are, who you txt, what the txt is, what cell towers you're connected to, when you pay your bill, with what credit card or check, also your name, address, oh and they know your phone number!

Won't be rooting, see no need for it.

i rooted mine on the first day, mostly becouse i want a recovery backup on the stock rom from day 1 with clockwork recovery.
I guess there is some consumer appeal, but really, why buy a Nexus if you have no interest in an unlocked phone? My decision to buy a Nexus was far less about firmware updates than it was about my right to own the hardware that I paid for.
To be honest, I didn't read the thread (shame on me), but these topics puzzle me. To each his own.

I'll root when CM9 hits beta or if a good stable nightly.
Yes, but so far only to be able to restore app data (ie Angry Birds) from my old phone. I'm totally cool with the built-in ICS disable/freeze feature for the apps I don't want, I think that's an extremely fair compromise over rooting and deleting the apk/so files.
Not too concerned about Wallet yet, we'll see how that pans out if it's something we'll need to root for or just something we can head to the Market and install without any issue. I would like to try it out and have zero confidence that the competing ISIS thing won't completely suck in comparison, so if root is needed, root it is!

If you want a private conversation phones are not the way to go. Back in the day we had to hard tap your line for LE with warrant. Now with CALEA and digital switches they can monitor traffic anywhere anytime w/o warrant.
Sometimes we put lines on speaker all day to monitor for noise. If your neighbor had wet line issue or cross talk we might monitor your line for noise. I worked in a 900 number telephone switch in California we have to check lines for "traffic" or people talking before working on them. It was awkward. Now I can monitor phone calls from my computer. Of coarse I don't unless it is for work I don't want to end up in Guantanamo.
Wow how off topic WTF happened?
I have decided that I can not deal with the locked bootloader on this tablet and have chosen to sell it (got more then I paid). The A100 is a wonderful tablet and has great potential but the lack of developers and dead end bootloader is a showstopper.
I am waiting for another brand 7 inch tablet to arrive by Fedex later this week. It has the same basic specs as the a100. CWM is already available and there is a small amount development going on. But it is new on the market. No ICS yet. There is some talk in getting CM9 on it.
It is really disappointing that the 10 inch tabs are getting all of the glory, I really think the 7 inch is the best size for carrying with you.
see yah!
The locked bootloader isn't a big deal for me because the tab already does everything I want it to do. The only thing that could make this tab already better than what it is would be the unlocked bootloader that way we could look at different rom options (but to be honest the rom that's currently there isn't that bad at all). Granted it would be nice to overclock, but its already pretty fast and I haven't really had any hiccups while using it since I released the custom build.prop (except for using hdmi which I'm working on).
I think eventually we'll get some sort of work around for the bootloader working, its just a matter of time. I'm definitely not going to drop this tab though just because we don't have it figured out yet.
I do wish there was someone other than myself that's taken an interest in this tab that knows their way around custom recoverys and bootloaders since that's not one of my strong points but at least I'm trying to help.
I wont call you a sell out, but I will wish you good luck with your new device and happy modding!

I think its a simple way of letting their frustrations go. I was just doing some research on this tab as I'd like to have a nice little 7 inch carry along but not so sure about it with the locked b/l and bad viewing angles.
Is the screen as bad as it looks in videos? From what I've seen and read this thing runs very smooth and lagfree, am I right about that?
Thanks for any info.

Theres really only 1 bad angle which is about 120 degrees towards the bottom. It gets darker. So jus flip it 180 in landscape and youre good. Left, right and top angle are great IMO. As far as speed. Here's one I posted....you be the judge....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-99O4-gmQ6E&list=UUHqepxR6_suYYKySqKxymDg&index=3&feature=plcp
The only lag I've ever experienced was when I was on the early 3.2 builds. After upgrading to the latest 3.2.1and running the custom build.prop, the only bit of lag I've seen is playing 720p video in flash and 720p software mode video on hdmi out. But my atrix had the same issue, so I think its just a limitation of stock tegra2. I resovled it on my atrix by overclocking, so if we ever find a method of running a custom kernel I think it'll be resolved.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I have never experienced any lag whatsoever in the a100. also, i have heard so much about the viewing angles, and as aznmode said, there is only one slightly off angle and there is no reason whatsoever to have to be looking in that angle unless you just choose to do so. I have several tabs and i use the acer more than the others combined because it does everything that is needed and it is very easy to carry around. Also I have hear reviewers complain about the battery, however i can useit on and off all day long without charging and also it charges twice as fast as most. i wouldn't hesitate to purchase this tab again, i would just love to see some more development. The rom itself is very fast and extremely stable, the only real complaint that i have about the tab is that i would like to see usb host mode working. i also wanted to say thanks to crossix and all of the other devs that have put alot of work into it so far!

If you have a big microsd card, you could swap it with the internal memory (I really need to add direct links to these things to my signature..).
Just out of curiosity has anyone contracted koush to see if he can unlock the bootloader. On his website he says that he just needs the tablet for about a week. I know that you guys have been working on it and have made some bits of progress, but maybe a new set of eyes might be helpful. I do support for two as we got the kids some for Christmas but I need to leave them stock so they can't get into and erase stuff they need for them to run.
Don't want to step on anyone's toes or if this has already been attempted just disregard.
Thanks to the developers for their work.

I started this thread when I was really pissed off at the A100. Between my touch screen failing and the many hours spent to get a working tun.ko on it. Due to the encrypted kernel I could not even load a kernel module.
To explain I need tun.ko and advanced routing so I can connect to a Cisco VPN for work. While waiting for my tab to be returned from service went to Best Buy and picked up the Samsung Galaxy tab plus, installed VPNC and it worked with no problem.
The A100 is a really nice device and for 90% of people it is perfect. I actually preferred the styling compared to the Samsung slab, but VPN is the reason I wanted a tab in the first place.
I wish you all good luck with cracking the bootloader.
I plan on keeping my a100 at least until I can afford a tegra 3 tab.

I use remote desktop with a virtual pc setup to connect up to my works Cisco VPN and it works really well, especially when I have a bluetooth keyboard and mouse connected up to the tab (I also use this same setup with my atrix), it works great!
I also use this same setup for one of my clients Nortel Networks VPN which doesn't work at all on android nativity. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the a100 but for the price its hard to find fault with it.

Agreed the price is right.
The virtual PC solution is not an option since I not only need it for RDP and VNC but also to sync my contacts, email and calendar. I was connecting to my home VPN and then jumping through to work but I need my contacts and email in somewhat a real time solution.

Security is highly unecessary. As long as your downloading from a trusted source.. if the developer has terrible ratings and its only been downloaded 50 times.. and its some type of porn app.. its gunna be malware. Really just have to use common sense here. If hes seriously concerned or paranoid i would suggest using LBE Security Guard it will monitor the apps that request permissions to things and actively tell you what app is doing what. With Root it will let you remove permissions to certain apps, lets say you dont want angry birds to have access to the internet.. you can do that. It will also rid those stupid ads.
All in all IMO its not needed but if hes that paranoid... LBE will be the best bet. Oh and any type of Anti-Virus is a waste of space and RAM.. at least LBE is useful.
tell him to stop the Windows mentality.
tell him to be cautious with regard to the hyperbole fearmongering that the security industry puts out to scare people into giving them money.
tell him my favorite saying... "paranoia will destroia"

There is no need for anti virus unless your downloading lots of dodgy or cracked apk's

Its better to have protection and not need it than not have protection and need it imo.

Holy cow.. I thought I was reading satire for a second so I ran to the Play Store and searched for Norton.. IT'S REAL. EL-OH-EL.. WOW and 46k people gave it 5 *'s.. *SMH*.... I laughed when I saw Avast and saw it needs root access to install some firewall crap.. Ironic much???
Anyway.. Yeah.. Security on a phone is really unnecessary. If you are dumb enough to download digital snake oil then you deserve a hard lesson in watching what you download.. Most of the scammy stuff is so blatantly obvious.
I used to use Lookout Mobile Security but then I was like..... no. They're all RAM hogs, and unless you know what you're downloading (I do) then it's a complete waste.
Some malware has made it into the Play store...but I generally only download well known apps from reliable vendors.

I would think time is a factor... Since you have Lookout installed, you can find out the general vicinity (depends on accuracy of the GPS) of where the tablet is currently located.
You can go to the police with that information, and maybe they'll do something (not extremely likely).
If you want some delicious justice, order a pizza for that house every night for a month and watch as they answer the door and get increasingly frustrated. Once you've fattened them up on grease and pepperoni, they won't be able to outrun you as you chase them down. Of course, they might have sold your stuff in that time, but you have efficiently reduced their ability to steal again (floorboards creak a lot more when you're 275 than when you're 175).
In all seriousness, though, I think it sucks that this stuff was stolen. If you have home (or renter's) insurance, they'll cover the loss. Otherwise, Lookout GPS information and reporting to the police might be the best bet.
